Windows 8.1 installation stucked at 'Finalizing your settings' stage!

I have G580 model. yesterday I was trying to install windows 8.1 but the installation stucked at "Finalizing your system" stage for about 18 hours! I tried several times to go to the BIOS for reinstall 8.1 or fresh installation of windows 7. but I cant enter into the BIOS by pressing F2/F8/F10/DEL whatever after restarting my system immidiately! what should I do! please help me to install my previous windows 7 OS.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

If you performed a clean install, try again and see if it works out. The same thing which you faced happened to me while I was upgrading from windows 8 to 8.1, it took me a couple of tries before 8.1 would finally install.
Cheers and regards,

  • Satellite C55-B5270, Windows 8.1 stuck at "Finalizing your settings"

I just bought a C55-B5270 notebook, the label says Windows 8.1 and after I answer all its questions, it gets stuck on "Finalizing your settings".
This was actual a customer return at Staples and before we left the tech did a factory restore (we watched). AFAIK he did it from the HD and I can't find how to do that either (it didn't come with Recovery Media but if I do the hold-zero-power-on trick it demans media to restore).
I really want to keep this unit, so is this (stuck on "Finalizing your settings") a known problem, and if so what's the fix?
Also, assuming I end up taking it back because it won't boot, how do I clear my nonsense and restore it to its original state? AFAIK I have until Saturday to return it, and if I can't get it to boot into Windows I'll have to take it back.
    Thanks!

Thanks Jerry, that's a good reference. I didn't realize there was a reset button.
In the mean time, I managed to get up and running by doing a Refresh (? - cleans up Windows without destroying files) using Recovery media downloaded from Microsoft. Of course I lost any Toshiba customizations and in fact had no WiFi afterwards. But I first downloaded Toshiba Service Station (which only told me the BIOS needed an update) and then WiFi drivers from Toshiba.com and now I have WiFi. I suspect I'm still missing stuff as (e.g.) the DVD software patch refuses to install because the DVD software isn't installed. But I can launch into Windows, surf using WiFi, and have decided I won't return the machine (tomorrow's the deadline and if I couldn't get into Windows, it was going back).
I have a couple of questions about where I've got it now:
    1. If Service Station says there are no updates for my machine, can I trust it and not check the version of every driver? I'm dubious because it didn't flag there were no WiFi drivers. My other notebooks are ThinkPads and there's a utility that checks my specific machine for updates to every driver. It's very convenient and I'd hate to go through that long list of Toshiba drivers checking versions if there's a utility to do it for me.
    2. I see Toshiba charges $40 for recovery media. Is there anywhere I can download it (legally)? Or someone at Toshiba who would send me a set? The recovery partition must have been damaged because both Refresh and Reset (? - sorry I don't know Win 8.1 terminology) demanded physical media when they should have been using the recovery partition.
Any other tips on my venture into Toshiba (and into Win 8.1) appreciated.
    Thanks!

I have been trying to install window 7 operating system through booth camp assistant, i will finish all the stages for window to complete installation it will hook. the installation cannot be able to complete and i really install windows on it, please i need an assistance on how to go about it.

Right now I have 6 different systems installed. Windows XP, 7, and 8 plus Linux Mint, Commodore, and OS X Snow Leopard (for old times sake), all running on Mountain Lion.
I recommend reading the user manual as it greatly helps getting through the steps, however an intuitive person should pick it up fairly easily.
Thanks to BobTheFisherman for the link.
There are other ways to get Windows on a Mac but I'm a big fan of open-source software.
Give it a try. You might like it or it may not be your cup of tea.

  • Windows server 2008 R2 stuck at applying computer settings

    Hello all:
i have seen other posts with this same problem, but none of them apply to my situation.
i have a set of virtual servers, mounted over Vsphere 5.5 running on XenApp, all basically with the same configuration, except for the hosted applications, however i only have problems with some of those servers.
    i have tried:
placing the servers on an empty OU --no change
remove the native VMware network driver and install intel drivers --no change
created the registry key : HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HTTP\DependOnService
    (value CRYPTSVC) --no change
run winsock on the affected servers --worked...after a week the same situationis present.
i tried changing the DNS server order -- worked
i then tried to bring the DNS servers to the established order, and the servers where able to boot propperly.
at this point im out of ideas!
    sorry, i meant R2!

If I understand well, by tweaking the IP Settings DNS configuration, you were able to fix the problem.
I would recommend that you use the IP settings I recommended here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/18513.active-directory-replication-issues-basic-troubleshooting-steps-single-ad-domain-in-a-single-ad-forest.aspx
As for the member servers / computers, make sure that they point only to internal DNS servers for DNS resolution. T troubleshoot DNS resolution, you can use
    NSlookup with debug mode: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/29184.nslookup-for-beginners.aspx

After spending another two days on pinning down the iTunes 10.5 blank store page problem, here's the solution to be found: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3372617?start=0&tstart=0
    Look out for "japiohelp".
    In short:
    a) press Windows key + "R", enter "cmd", and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter (= runs as admin)
    b) enter "netsh winsock reset" and pres enter
    c) reboot the computer
    and Bob's your uncle.

Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

  • Why is the installer stuck on "Checking System Profile-"?

I'm trying to install Flash Catalyst Beta on a MacBook Pro running OS 10.6.1 (Snow Leopard).
The installer starts to work, but then it stops at the point where it checks the system profile (see attached screenshot). It doesn't seem to have crashed as the dock icon allows me to quit without force quitting the application.
I've tried it in my regular user account and the administrator account, but the behaviour is identical.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I appreciate all your efforts, but I¹ve just received my new copy of CS5, so
I¹ll be installing the final version.

Subject: Why is the installer stuck on "Checking System
    Profile…"?
    Thanks Gary.
I need to ask you a few questions and request you to perform some more steps
so that I can debug your problem.
    1. Have you modified any folder permissions, authorization setup using
Keychain Access utility (or any other tool)?
    2. Open a Terminal window, and run the command 'ls -l /tmp' and copy-paste
the output printed on your screen in your reply.
    3. Delete all files whose name start with 'asu' in your /tmp folder. Run the
command 'rm -rf /tmp/asu*'. Restart your machine.
    4. Launch the Flash Catalyst setup and check if installation proceeds
successfully. If it doesn't, proceed to the step below.
    5. Open the folder containing the Flash Catalyst setup. Browse to the
'packages' folder and rename the file 'install.sig' to 'update.sig'. Double
click and launch the Flash Catalyst setup. This will not install the
application but install the Adobe Application Manager. Let me know if you
see a small dialog with a progress bar. Rename back update.sig to
install.sig. Update us your observations. Continue to next step.
    6. Launch 'Disk Utility' app (from /Applications/Utilities). Select your OS
partition in the left panel and click on 'First Aid' tab on the top. Click
on the 'Repair Disk Permissions' button at the bottom.
    7. Again, launch the Flash Catalyst setup and check if installation proceeds
successfully. If it doesn't, proceed to the step below.
    8. Open a Terminal window and navigate to the directory containing the Flash
Catalyst setup. Run the command 'sudo Install.app/Contents/MacOS/Install'
and enter the password. Let me know if the installer launches and on
following the screen instructions do you still see the error screen or does
    the installation proceed successfully.

  • Windows Could not find the Driver for your Apple iPod USB Device (5G 30GB)

    I have a 8GB iPod Nano. My roommate has a 30GB 5G Video. Black.
My iPod syncs flawlessly. His is not recognized by Windows or iTunes. Every time we plug in the iPod, it prompts us for the driver. I tried to install the update apple mentions through the windows process, but after going through the tedious Windows Genuine Verification process, I was told that the update didn't apply to my computer.
We use a Lenovo Thinkpad T60p, which shipped with Windows Vista Business.
We are running iTunes 7.3.1.3, and there are no windows updates available for the computer.
    I have...
    ...reset
...reinstalled 7.3.1.3 (over and over and over)
...tried different USB ports. (Early on, we saw it once after swapping ports).
...tried turning off the ability of the computer to 'Turn this device off to save power."
I have also verified that the iPod works on my work Dell Lattitude D620 running XP, and that it's not the cord, as we've used the cord that came with my Nano as well.
So, the problem seems to be with vista, as many people seem to have had. The best thread I found that deals with this was http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=995793.
But even after having tried everything, I still have an unrecognizable iPod.
When I run iPod diagonostics, everything seems okay, except for the iPod connection, which says failed. I've had difficulty working with the iPod service under Computer/Device Manager - it doesn't ever seem to stop or start, with the iPod plugged in or not.
And interestingly enough, the FAT32 external harddrive that I use to back up my data exhibits exactly the same problem ("Windows could not find the driver for your USB Mass Storage Device). This device worked great in XP, and even odder, I have a FAT32 partition of the main HD as a swap space between my VistaOS and my Ubuntu installation.
Do I have to chalk this up to another issue with Windows Vista? What bothers me there is that you're a ping-pong between windows support and apple support - no one really owns up the problem.

Bill, I've been stuck in this loop for 3 months since buying a new laptop with Vista Basic. I've tried everything to no avail. I don't know what else to do apart from buying a cheap PC running XP. Let me know if you manage to find a solution and I'll do the same.

  • BO Edge 4.0 Installer stuck on "Run command-line executable"

    Hi,
Our BO Edge BI Server 4.0 Installer on Windows Server 2008R2 is stuck on one of the last steps; "Run command-line executable".
Before is was stuck on "WaitForCMSForTheFirstTime". We upped the RAM to 16GB and then the installer went past this, but after a full reset of the server and trying again it is now stuck a few steps later on "Run command-line executable". This is very frustrating, especially since there is no error message at all, no install log and the installer is just stuck indefinitely and we had to cancel it.
At that point the Central Configuration Manager shows this:
    Apache Tomcat - Running
    BW Publisher Service - Stopped
SAP BO Mobile Authentication Server - Stopped
SAP BO Mobile Processing Server - Stopped
    Server Intelligence Agent - Running
We can't deinstall from Windows to start over at this point because the installer says an install is in progress.
    What is going on?
    Help urgently needed and appreciated

    Hello,
Yes, certain stages run for a long duration. "Run command-line executbale" runs for atleast 45 mins. It's normal.
My suggestion would be to leave it for 45 mins-90 mins.
Now that you have interrupted your installtion, try uninstalling it through the control panel.
In case you can't see the software there, then you have to edit registry entries, which is very tiresome.

  • Upgrade from 8.1 - Installation stuck at 30% - Revert possible?

    Hi All,
I started my W10 installation last night and it has been going for about 11 hours. It has however got stuck at 30% as reported by many other users on the 'Applying PC Settings' stage. I wondered if I was to do a hard reset would it revert back to 8.1 or
am I better off just leaving it to see if it completes?
    Thanks

If the installation fails to complete you will revert to the previous install. In your case, 8.1.
I should point out though that if left for long enough the update is likely to complete on it's own. My record updating times are ~20 hrs for Win 10 to Win 10 and ~28 hours for Win 7 to Win 10, especially on older hardware. Doing a fresh install is *much*
faster and I would recommend that where possible. In general, the new updater in use for Windows 10 is very poor, easily the most disappointing aspect of the entire build.

  • Cant download itunes 10 using windows vista error installation of assembly policy 8.0 microsoft VC80.CRT

cant download itunes 10 using windows vista erroe about installation of assembly

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? (For example, 8007000B.)

  • Windows 8.1 Installation On Mac - Got a Problem

Windows 8.1 Installation On Mac - Got a Problem
    Hi everyone,
I'v researched a lot about installing Win on Mac but I still got a problem when everything seems to be fine.
I got a Macbook Pro Retina, Late 2013 with OSX Mavericks and Bootcamp 5 installed on. And for installing windows, I already got an empty 8GB USB Drive formatted as MS-DOS (FAT32). And I've prepared Windows 8.1 ISO in my Downloads folder.
During my last effort, I opened Bootcamp Assist and then Chose the options: "Create Windows 7 or later version installation disk" and "Download the latest windows support software from Apple". Then I chose my Windows 8.1 ISO location and my destination. When it finished ,I was expecting it to run windows setup. But it closed and nothing happened
When I opened BootCamp again, only the first two options were available as before and "Install or remove Windows 7 or later" wasn't.
Now ,what do I have to do exactly? (NOTE: I'm not a professional. So please answer in a simple way. )
Should I restart the Mac and Hold OPTION while booting to run Windows setup? I was thinking about it but I thought I might screw it up all. So I decided to ask it here to be sure.
Any help will be appreciated by heart!

    Hi Alcatrax,
I would recommend following the steps in this link in order to help you complete your installation of Boot Camp:
Boot Camp Help: Install Windows on your Mac
    https://help.apple.com/bootcamp/mac/5.0/help/#apdecf0e4b6-b472-438d-881e-57c230b 1c250
    Prepare your Mac for Windows
Boot Camp Assistant helps prepare your Mac for Windows by creating a new partition for Windows and then starting the Windows installer. Optionally, you can install Windows using an external USB drive that contains a Windows ISO image downloaded from Microsoft and Windows support software.
Important: If you’re using a portable computer, connect the power adapter before continuing.
Insert an external drive into the USB port on your Mac and keep it inserted while you install Windows and Windows support software.
Open Boot Camp Assistant, located in the Other folder in Launchpad.
Select the option to install Windows, select other options you need, then click Continue.
Here are the other options you can choose:
If you want to install Windows from an external USB drive and you have a Windows ISO image, select the option to copy the image to an external USB drive. If this option isn’t available, your Mac doesn’t support installing Windows from an external USB drive.
If you haven’t already downloaded the Windows support software for your Mac, select the option to download it. In a later step, you’ll install the Windows support software on your Windows partition.
Follow the onscreen instructions for the options you selected.
When you’re asked to create a Windows partition, specify a partition size. If you have multiple hard drives in your computer, you can select a different hard drive and create a single partition on that drive, so that the drive is solely used for Windows.
Note: You can’t resize the partition later.
If you need help determining the best size for your Windows partition, refer to your Windows installer documentation. For Windows 8, create a partition that is at least 30 GB.
In a later step, you’ll format the Windows partition.
If you are using an installation disc for the 64-bit version of Windows, insert it into the optical drive in your Mac or the external optical drive. Otherwise, keep the external USB drive with the 64-bit version of Windows inserted.
    Click Install.
Boot Camp Assistant creates the Windows partition, restarts your Mac, then opens the Windows installer.
Thanks for being a part of the Apple Support Communities!
    Regards,
    Braden
