Windows 8.1 issues w/ Audible audiobooks

Hi there,
I just upgraded from Win 8 to Win 8.1 and have now issues with (already authorized) audible audiobooks in my iTunes library.
When I try to listen to them, I am first asked to (re) authorize them by entering my audible password, then I get the following error message: "Could not authorize this computer because iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes." (I doubt these message reflect the correct reason for this issue as everything else I have in my iTunes library works fine.)
Then I get a second error message:"Could not authorize this computer because an error occured (1007).
I already re-installed iTunes also I have de-authorized and re-authorized my audible account in iTunes.
Does anyne has idea(s) on why this is happening to my Audible audiobooks ?
Thanks JC.
P.S: I already contacted Audible tech support and they had no idea why this was happening.

Hi,
We should never turn off the machine during the update/upgrade process. Anyway, no one knows what is happening unless we can see and read memory dump or syslem log. Most likely your machine is bricked, the next step is to rebuild the machine back to factory settings. Do you have a set of Recovery discs ? If no, please call HP from one of the following contacts near you:

Has anyone solved the windows 7 driver issue? The canon website does not have one yet is reported windows 7 capatable.

    Hello ricksterofmi,
The PIXMA iP6000D Drivers are included with the Windows 7 Operating System through Windows Update.  Please connect the PIXMA iP6000D to your computer and automatically install the drivers.  Once this has been done, visit our website by selecting this LINK to download and install the Add On Module for full compatibility.
    I hope this helps.

  • Cannot drag and drop Audible audiobooks onto my iPhone 4s

When I attempt to drag and drop Auible audiobook files i only get a ghosted file on my iPhone.  The file itself nver make it tot he phone.  This ghosted file cannot be deleted from the iPhone.
Once I try to drag an Audible audiobook to the phone it then locks up the file transfer process on the phone and music files also become untransferable.  They also just show up as ghosted files on the phone (when viewed through itunes).  They do not show up on the phone when viewed from the phone.
    Please help!

Now I tried downloading other albums that are in my library but not on my phone and those didn't work either. Could it be my phone or itunes that's not working?

  • Windows 7 Firewire Issues with CS5 and ADVC-700

I've got a Windows 7, 64 bit system with CS 5. In dubbing out for playback, I route a firewire cable from the PC to an Canopus/Grass Valley ADVC-700. Both units are less than a year old and are having issues with "black outs" during the dub out process. I've read different things about Windows 7 having issues with firewire drivers. After speaking to someone with Adobe, I've changed my firewire driver to Legacy. That hasn't helped.
The ADVC-700 has s-video out running to preview monitor and BNC out/XLR audio running to my playback system for ingest. When the video goes to black (usually for a 1/2 second), the audio drops out with it.
I've reset the settings on the ADVC-700 with no luck.
Any suggestions on a fix or something else to try?

I did test with a JVC GY-HD200U and there weren't any performance issues which led me back to the PC or other on the PC.
The system is running Windows 7, 64 bit with CS5 Production Premium following an upgrade from the CS4 version.
I've got 12 GB of Ram, (2) Intel Xeon Quad Core E5560 -2.8 GHZ processoCrs.
    (1) 500GB SATA2 hard drive, 7200 RPM, 32 MC (System Drive)
    (3) 1 TB SATA2 Hard drives, 7200 RPM, 32 MC (3 TB, RAID0 Storage Drive)
    Nvidia GeForce 9800GT graphics Card
    Supermicro X8DAi motherboard, Intel 5520 Chipset, 2-PCIe X16, 1 PCIe x4, 3-PCI, 10-USB2 ports, 2-pro/1000 NIC, 8-channel HD audio, 6 SATA ports, RAID 0/1/5/10
I've got the legacy drivers for the firewire card. I've checked to make sure all of the power save options are off along with all screen saver options. I've cleaned my Adobe Cache out, deleted my Adobe Preferences, went from the 4pin/6pin cable to a 6pin/6pin cable to feed the ADVC-700 from the PC, reset the ADVC 700 back to factory specs...all of this with no luck.
The problem seems to be worse since the move from CS4 to CS5 but it's hard to tell.
I've also hooked up an older ADVC-500 unit with the same output results.
I think I noted in the first post that this is happening on two indentical systems with the same cabling and programs and the same ADVC-700 boxes.
I've been told by Adobe to clean my C; drive and reload the OS and Adobe CS5 as I should have done that when I upgraded instead of just upgrading the system from CS4 to CS5 using the discs. I haven't done this yet as I have to budget time/workflow to accomodate.

  • Best way to deal with Audible audiobooks on apple tv?

    hi everyone,
i've recently purchased a 40GB apple tv, and despite a few glitches and getting used to it, i'm pretty pleased with how it's going.
i've a few audible audiobooks on itunes, and whilst i realise apple tv doesn't play these natively, i'd be interested in how others have dealt with this. what workarounds (if any) are available? did you have to burn them to cd and reimport them (hope not! that would take ages!)
if you've got any suggestions i'd be glad to hear them, and let me know how easy/convenient you've found them.
    cheers!

You can use the Apple TV like an Airport Express. You have turn on iTunes in the ATV menu. Set up iTunes for Remote Speakers and then you can play Audible Books by running them in iTunes. They will play out of your remote speakers.

  • No AC Power, Battery not charging, Windows boot up issue

Searched the forums but could not find an answer for my specific problem.
    COmputer: L355 - S7905
    Windows XP Professional
Issue: installed new motherboard.  When on AC power, laptop shows a steady green LED light but will not boot up without the battery installed.  Will not stay running when the battery is removed or dies.  When plugged into AC power, battery charging light is on but battery continues to lose power; will not charge.  Had the computer operating properly initially but noticed the power issue.  I ran a chkdsk on one of the subsequent boot ups and now have a "config.sys file missing" error and can not get into windows any longer.  I was going to try some of the battery charging suggestions listed on this forum but no longer can get into windows or the recovery council.  Last screen attainable says to select "R" to repair system using a Windows disk.  Can not get to a DOS prompt.
    Status so far:
    - Ran volt meter check on power adapter and getting steady 19 volts.  Various motherboard checks with a voltmeter are seem normal.
    - All LED lights on laptop are indicating the computer is working in a proper state (ie power light on, batt charging light on, HDD light on when in use, etc)
    - replacement motherboard is the EXACT same motherboard as the original.  Same model - identical.
    - Can get passed BIOS screen successfully; can get into boot options screen (Safe Mode options, command prompt, etc) but all options eventually default to an error message I get from the chkdsk program and I can not go any further.
    - Laptop did not come with an original Win XP restore disk.
    - Battery is a replacement but is the exact same part number as on the Toshiba original battery.  Battery seems to be operating perfectly once it is charged (had to go to computer accessory store for charge)
    Questions:
    - Why is the AC power only not able to run the laptop??  Is it a software issue??
    - Once I can get into the windows OS, I presume I should be able to correct the battery not charging issue . . . is that right??  Sounds like it is a software issue from what I have read on the forums.  My plan was to reinstall the Windows operating system but I can not do that on battery power alone.
Any suggestions on how to proceed??
    Thank you - Paul
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Lawrence - Your suggestion was right on target, the replacement adapter solved my power problem.  I would have never believed that to be the problem since the digital voltmeter was indicating the required 19v from the defective adapter, I would obviously NOT have figured this out on my own.  Thanks for your time, response and help on this issue, I really appreciate it.

  • Issues with multiple audiobooks playing on shuffle

When I put more than one audible audiobook on my shuffle it only plays one of them. After the book is finished it goes to the beginning of the book I just listened to not the other books on my shuffle. Any suggestions?

Oh dear!  I'm sure the books are still on there - try sliding the power switch off, then on again but just slide the power switch half way so its in the middle rather than all the way across.  See if that does it.  If you restore the iPod it will remove the books that are on there.  Good luck

  • P965 platnium and windows boot up issues

    Hello,
I put my computer together yesterday and everything seemed to work alright.  I was successfully able to install windows.  The issue i have is that windows will only load up once, then it will always freeze on start up.
For example last night, I reinstalled windows, got to it to load up, installed my network driver, browsed the web for a few minutes, and then restarted the computer.  Then windows froze up during start up, so i reboot, and try to boot into safe-mode, which also ends up freezing after loading a few files.
This has been very repeatable, I can always reinstall and get back into windows, but i can not restart without it freezing.  I ended up downloading liveupdate and updating the bios to 1.2, but that didn't seem to help.

  • Audible Audiobook artwork won't display on iPhone 3G

Hey guys, I have an 8gb iPhone 3G running 3.1.3 and I just purchased an audiobook off audible.com and I transferred it to the iPhone, but all I get it the generic audiobook icon as its album art.
I went through iTunes and the album art appears to be attached to the file accurately. I also have two other audiobooks (all from audible), and none of them are showing the artwork...
I've even done the 'get info' off the file on my iPhone when it's plugged into iTunes and it shows the album art is there, but yet will not display...
I've read up on this, online, and apparently there are issues with artwork, but nothing I've read sounds like THIS issue... can anyone help?

This happened to me too after I upgraded and then resynced my iphone 3G. I read somewhere that if you reset the iphone, it will be ok. But that's a complete waste of time and shouldn't be the only solution. What a buggy device.

  • Audible audiobooks on iPod classic

I will be getting an iPod classic soon and I would like to know if when playing an audiobook, after pausing it, setting it down, listening to music at a later hour, and then playing the audiobook if it will keep my place.
Every time I ask audible, they say "iPad?". ._.

I had the exact same problem with the ipod classic to USB connection to my car stereo too. Have since changed cars to one with a pre-installed Parrot audio device and still having the same problem? Any solutions to help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hp LaserJet 4350 windows 7 driver issue

The driver installed from windows update (3.18.2008, I think--hpc43506.gpd?) seems to have a problem. I tried printing to two separate 4350 printers. I ended up installing a pcl5 universal print driver from the HP site. I was wondering if this is a known issue? Is it just me?

I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial printer. You can do this at Printers - LaserJet.

  • Can anybody help me resolve this Windows 8.1 Issue?

In summary, a couple of hours ago whilst surfing the internet, a message popped up on my screen and without doing anything told me that my computer was "installing Windows 8.1", and no matter what I did it wouldn't let me exit, and not being all
that tech savvy when it stated "Do not turn off your computer", for me that meant "leave it alone".
So, I thought, "Ah, oh well. Another Microsoft update -- probably better than 8." Up until now, I have never been so wrong; I am not trying to criticize Microsoft or anything, but because of the issues that I have had so far(which aren't really
that huge, but have impacted me) have interrupted my experience and entertainment that I use my computer for.
Down to the issues. So, when my computer started up it took me to the screen where all the tiles are, and everything was huge(when I say huge I mean  one of the tiles took up 25% of the screen), so basically I had to go to PC Settings and change the
size from default to smaller in "PC Settings>PC And Devices>Display", which was problem solved. But, whilst searching for how to make it smaller I had to go on Google Chrome, which when I opened up went from
[UPDATE] Since I cannot put images or links in this "Body Text", because my account is not verified yet, basically I'll try to sum it up in words.
    Before(Good In My Opinion)
It's just like when you first get a computer -- the toolbar is small so that 90% of your Google Chrome is accessible, and your toolbar below where all of your icons such as Internet Explorer, Windows Market, Documents, etc. are, are also small, but small
enough so that it is unnoticeable UNTIL you WANT to notice it.
    to bad (what the...)
Notice how everything is a lot bigger, especially the tool bars and things at the top, and because of this I have to adjust to this odd output, and in addition have to scroll to see more of a page because even the page seems more zoomed in. (I've even tried
using "Magnifying Glass", but that only temporarily HALF solves the problem.
Another problem is that everything on my screen is just generally bigger. I've tried changing it numerous ways; I've tried NVIDIA Resolution, etc. I've tried PC Settings>Resolution, PC Settings>Devices, etc, but nothing seems to work -- even the resolution
change doesn't do anything. As you can see, at the bottom of my screen all of the stuff is HUGE, and takes up at least 1/30th of my screen, when before was small and easily unnoticeable until I wanted to use it.
If anybody could help me, or solve these problems it would be HUGELY appreciated as I cannot stand this any longer.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
The main problem is that everything on the screen is bigger, right?
Considering you have tried PC Settings>Resolution, PC Settings>Devices ,I recommend you check another setting “Change the size of all items”. Here is the path:
1.Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\ Display(Change the size of all items)
    2.If #1 won`t work, I agree with
ZigZag3143x,I recommend you re-install the graphics driver and it is essential to download the right driver for Win8.1 from the manufacture website.
    Best regards

  • New Blackbook, from windows, getting acquainted issues from A to ...

I just bought a new blackbook.
I am trying to get used to mac again after about 10 years of not using.
Here are some of the issues I haven't been able to resolve as of yet, maybe you can help?
A\\-how to change size of title/finder/apple bar (that thing at the top with the time)
B\\-how to add the date to the title bar (currently I can only get the time up there)
C\\-how to minimize a window w/o an animation (current options are genie or scale, I want none)
D\\-how to alt-tab like windows (I assume there is another key combination besides alt-tab that works like alt-tab. Currently alt-tab is similiar but its not the same and its hurting my work. In one key combination, I want to be able to minimize and maximize any window on the screen. So that my desktop is clear but I can see all the windows that are currently open)
E\\-making finder search and spotlight actually search computer (currently spotlight will not go near the library as an example)
F\\-i have solved the clamshell problem by installing insomniax but the efficiency is way off (currently I have to make 2 clicks to sleep the display, and 2 clicks to sleep the system, and if I sleep the system, then I have to make 2 clicks to reenable insomniax)(In my old computer, I had no clicks to sleep the monitor, when I closed the lid of the computer it killed power to the monitor. If I wanted to sleep/suspend the system. I had to push one button (a button is MUCH quicker than a click)
G\\-show view options, calculate all sizes, is great. Where is the global setting for this?
H\\-in finder preferences, what are spring loaded folders?
I\\-in finder preferences, sidebar, can I edit any of them, like places, shared, an devices, can I change them from lists to links?
J\\-in finder preferences, sidebar, can I get to any of these without going through sidebar?
K\\-in finder preferences, sidebar, why arnt shared categorized like all the other items instead of just listed (currently in finder under shared is a list of computers, yet under PLaces is home, desktop, applications, and documents;; in the finder preferences though under shared is connected servers, bonjour computers, and back to my mac)
L\\-in textedit what is smart copy/paste
M\\-global setting for smaller window sizes (currently everything on desktop is at 10pt font, then I open an application and the font jumps from 10pt to 16pt almost)
N\\-global setting for maximize (currently I have to open an application and then maximize it, I just want to open an application, and not have to maximize cause it already is)
O\\-how to have your home folder on another partition, or to setup a backup of your home folder to another partition, like mobileme and idisk does only to a partition, or even a usb drive instead of mobileme and idisk. I heard there was a way in mac os x server, but I dont want server for this simple thing
P\\-how to setup a operation to run every time an application is installed (currently when I install an application about 50% of the time it appears in the applications folder as an icon, and the other 50% it appears in the applications folder as a folder;; in the second situation I have to then go make a shortcut, and put it in the applications folder(i need this to happen everytime);; in windows they had something for this called the start menu)
Q\\-how to show hidden files and folders in finder (/var /volumes /etc; currently I can see all of them in open dialog boxes, and other places, yet I can't in finder)
R\\-global setting for calculate sizes, in show view options, in finder
S\\-how to set defaults or preferences in calculator(currently if I open calculator it opens the basic calculator even if I use the programmers calculator all the time)
T\\-how to change the size of icons in stacks

  • ITunes on Windows 7 performance issues - slow and hangs

Is there any way to improve performance of iTunes running on Windows 7?
It has always been slow with lots of application hangs and stalls that will resolve themselves if you wait for iTunes to catch up, but I find it incredibly frustrating.
For example, when iTunes starts and if it is checking podcasts, the entire application is unresponsive until it finishes checking and refreshing podcasts.
Alternately, when viewing my iPad Air and looking at the list of apps installed via iTunes it can take 30 seconds before iTunes responds.
Considering that this is running on a system with a quad-core Haswell processor at 3.2Ghz, 16GB of RAM and Windows 7 x64 it is pretty unacceptable.
The efficiency at which iTunes operates is just appalling.  I can run Adobe Photoshop and many more memory hungry and processor intensive applications than iTunes and get better performance than what I see in iTunes.
This is not specific to my system either.  All of my family members have iPhones and their own computers and this performance issue exists on every computer I have ever run iTunes on.
Is there any way to manually tune performance because this is pretty crappy.  It's been bugging me for years, but today just kind of feels like the last straw.

I guess the answer is, "It's terribad, live with it"
