Windows 8.1 laptop not connecting to domain in branch office

We have a problem with a laptop.
It is installed in our Head office (The Netherlands), just like all other laptops by using an image.
Tested and working on the domain.
The user had to go to one of our branch offices (China) and when he connected there, the laptop just won't connect to the domain.
When he plugged in the laptop, it keeps trying to connect it's directaccess.
Other laptops (same image) immediately recognize the domain network, but this laptop just won't.
I am able to ping everything on the local network (MPLS connection), from HQ to all Branch offices but not access them.
I've tried changing the DNS settings, but without any result.
Any suggestions?

Hi,
According to this tool's description, I think it should be helpful to check system current enviroment, such as network, certificates, etc. problem. Actually according to your description, I doubt it probably network enviroment of ISP problem, but we should
find a way to verify our suspect. Then this tool would be convenient, it also would generate a trace log and it would be helpful with troubleshooting.
The DirectAccess Client Troubleshooting Tool is a graphical application, based on the .NET Framework, which checks the health of a DirectAccess client by running various tests.  Built-in health tests: The following tests are currently implemented:
Network interfaces Network location (NLS and NRPT DNS) IP connectivity (6to4, Teredo, IPHTTPS, entry point in a multisite setup, DNS) Windows Firewall (applied profile, Firewall outbound rules) Certificates (EKU Client Authentication, trust chain for AIA and
CRL) IPsec infrastructure tunnel (Domain SysVol share) IPsec intranet tunnel (PING and HTTP probes) Additional features Run post-check script (PowerShell, VBScript, BAT or CMD file)

  • How do I login to a Windows computer that is NOT on a domain.

I'm writing a server side web app and I want to validate the client's credentials against those of the Windows server that is not on the domain.
If the server is on the domain, I can use Java JAAS + Kerberos stuff. However, if the server is not on any domain, and I want to try to validate a local Windows login, how do I do that? Can I use Kerberos or do I need to use something else?
    Thanks!

    NTLM?
I know Java's HTTP support NTLM, but possibly no general API like JGSS.

  • Cannot get Windows 7 x64 laptop to connect to AIRONET 1140 WAP

I recently changed the configuration of my Aironet 1140 from WEP to WAP2-Enterprise to make it more secure. I am using the WAP as the radius server. After making the change I connected my Blackberry to the wap as well as a Samsung Chromebook.  However when I tried to connect my HP laptop it is unable to connect. Watching from the Aironet's console I see that it is processing the association and windows ask me to enter my uid and password. When I do this I get an authentication error. I have tried several times adjusting parameters on windows but it always fails. Here is the configuration of the WAP:

  • Windows 8.1 is not connecting tih LWAPs

    Hi
    We are running WLCM
    NME-AIR-WLC6-K9
    with software version 7.0.230.0
It is working perfectly up to windows 8.0
Now problem is with windows 8.1 systems, not even a single laptop getting connection of Wifi.
Please suggest if any upgrade is required at WLCM level.

How do you have the wlan configured. You shouldn't have a mix of encryption. Either it should be WPA/TKIP or WPA2/AES.  Don't have both defined and don't have a mix like WPA2/TKIP and AES.  If you make a change to the wlan, you will need to delete the profile from the devices and create it again because if the device was joined by clicking on the broadcasting SSID, the device will use the encryption that it associated to which could be for example WPA2/TKIP.

  • How to Reset Password of User while not connected to Domain using Local Admin Account

How to Reset Password of User while not connected to the Domain using Local Admin Account
(I have the use of a local admin account), and I want to help a user reset their password who has logged in the PC and had their credentials cached, but forgot this password.
    In Local Admin Account :
When I go to Control Panel, users, users, manager user ; I cannot see any users in this window except the local admin account, and, so I cannot reset a user password this way.
When I go to lusrmgr.msc, then users ; the local admin account will display only.
If I go to command prompt and type "net user", this will not display any users who have logged in to the computer, and so I cannot use "net user" to reset a password.
I don't want to use any disks, 3rd party programs, or create a VPN connection to the domain.  I just want to help a user who calls in and forgets their password.

    Hello Keith,
I know this is an old thread but I'm trying to better understand how I could change the domain password while not on the network. What I'm getting from your post is that you:
    1. Create a local user account (not a domain user)
    2. Login with that local user account
    3. Connect to the VPN while logged in as a local user
    4. Log out of the local account and login with the domain credentials
Now, my question is based on the assumption that the password created on the local account is the same password that one will use to login to the domain account? Also, is the local user account the same as the domain account?
    Thanking you in advance!

  • Windows deployment server could not connect to Tecra S11-11f

    Hello ,
When sending an image from the WDS to the Tecra i get an error message telling me that the wds could not connect to the tecra , because of a missing driver.
The driver we are using works fine when installing from an windows installation disk i detects the lancard and installs it.
I've downloaded a lot of drivers i can't find out which is the right one.
When connecting a different laptop from an other brand it works fine

Has your Tecra factory settings or you have installed and configured OS on your own?

  • Windows 8.1 laptop cannot connect to the internet using USB Mobile Broadband stick.

I bought a new laptop and it came with Windows 8.1 installed. Well, things worked perfectly until I wanted to connect to the internet using my mobile broadband USB stick. I installed the software that came with the stick, and my laptop recognize
the stick but I still cant connect to the internet. The stick workes perfect in my Windows 7 and Windows 8 laptops, but IT DONT CONNECT WITH MY WINDOWS 8.1 LAPTOP. What can I do to troubleshoot this???
HOPE I AM SPECIFIC ENOUGH THOU...

    The PC Repair Guy,
If you haven't already, verify that you can connect to the internet through some other means such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet with your laptop to rule out any network setting issues.  If you are able to connect successfully to the internet, use that opportunity
    to make sure you have
Windows 8.1 Update installed as well as any other applicable updates your laptop may require.
You may also want to check the
Windows Compatibility Center to make sure that your device is compatible with Windows 8.1.
Another possibility is that the driver your laptop is installing for the device isn't the correct one.  Check the device manufacturer's site for the most up to date driver they have available for Windows 8.1.
    Hope this helps!

  • Windows 8.1 will not connect to remote desktop

Since upgrading to 8.1 I can not connect remotely. I receive the following error:
dsTermServ.exe has exited unexpectedly. Debug information about this issue has been created in C:\Users\Jody\AppData\Roaming\JuniperNetworks\Juniper Terminal Services
    Client\dsTermServ.dmp

It seems that Juniper is working on a supported version of their client software for Windows 8.1:
http://kb.juniper.net/InfoCenter/index?page=content&id=KB28018&actp=RSS This page states that they where planning to release a supported version the first
week of December so hopefully they will publish it soon.
also have a look at this post discussing the same problem:

This a Juniper issue not supporting Windows 8.1/E11, you might ask Juniper for an update on this.

  • Windows 8.1 will not issue a Domain Name Request.

I have a windows 8.1 system that will not issue a Domain Name Request to resolve a simple query such as www.microsoft.com.  It works OK in my Windows 7 system on the same computer.  I know this is happening because I run the Wireshark packet
trace on each system. Windows 7 issues the request; Windows 8 does not.  I can flush the DNS cache with "ipconfig /flushdns, net stop dnscache, net start dnscache".  When I try to do email,  Thunderbird can't find the server; when
I try to browse the internet, the browser(Opera, Chrome, Mozilla) can't resolver  the name.  ipconfig /all looks normal.  The Domain Name Server is hardwired (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4, or 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220).  Any ideas?

    Hi,
If you ping  the server with its IP address, could it work? If so, it should be your Windows 8.1 DNS components problem.
When this problem occures? If this problem just occures recently, it would be better to make system restore to revert your system to a former normal time point.
In not, firstly, try to reinstall NIC driver for test. Also check Event Viewer if it identify the problem.
As you said, you run Wireshark Packet. In my opinion, it would be better to run this tool to capture you network communication trace in Windows 8.1. This maybe could help you find the reason of the problem.
In addition, Network Monitor also a good choice to captuer network trace.

  • Clients Not seeing DHCP server at branch office or not accepting ip offers (NO LOG REPORTS KIND OF IN THE DARK)

Hi there i am having an issue that has popped up recently i have a DC at a branch office that is connected to the main office DC via a Persistent Demand Dial connection in RRAS. Everything was working properly according to me until i found out that the Network
Admin who manages the branch office network failed to notify me that client machines weren't getting IP addresses from the DHCP server. This server was recently installed and wasn't fully implemented till about a week ago when i configured the Demand Dial
connection in RRAS up until that point it just had a regular old VPN connection to the main office while we worked out the kinks with a few things. the things ive tried so far to get DHCP working are as followed
1.Rebooted the branch office server (MULTIPLE TIMES)
    2. Uninstalled the DHCP Role and re-installed it....To my surprise 1 client managed to get a ip on its lan adapter after DHCP was re-installed but nothing else
    3. Disconnected the connection between the main office DC and the Branch office DC as i figured the main office DC DHCP server might be interfering with the branch office DC DHCP Server but nothing happened
    4. Unauthorized and Reauthorized the main office DHCP server and the branch office DHCP server nothing changed
    5. sifted through multiple log files on both servers and found noting in fact DHCP logs are empty on both servers
    6. restored backups of the DHCP servers from when they were working
    7. came here cause im out of ideas and im pulling my hair out
here are the current statistics from the problem server

Id like to add that RRAS was getting IP addresses from the problem server up until the point i uninstalled the role and re-installed it
