Windows 8.1 Photoshop CC crashes on startup (about to ask for refund...)
I'm getting really upset now with this...
How can I get on a brand new PC with all the latest updates and a valid paid licence a non fonctional Photoshop CC installed on my machine?...
I went through all the recommended troubleshooting options:
Signing out and in again
Reseting all preferences
Uninstalling and reinstalling
booting in safe mode
forced my nvidia GPU on bios to be always on instead of the Intel one...
Nothing worked even with multiple trials for each of the above mentioned options...
I'm currently trying to reach an agent on the chat and raising my hand on the forums (one more topic for the same issue).
It's been almost 4 days now that I went through this problem and I can't afford another one.
If I'm fronting this issue any longer, I'll have to move on to another photo editing tool for all my daily tasks and as such will ask for a refund on my 1 year subscription licence.
I'm not angry against the bug but the lack of customer support except these forums and a very well hidden chat agent system with a way too long waiting sequence...
Please, get that solve or I'll be obliged to move to some competition...
Thanks.

Intel i7 Haswell
8 Gb RAM
Intel HD Graphics 4500

Photoshop CC crashes on startup - Win7 (64bit)
Photoshop CC crashes on startup. I've tried reinstalling, rebooting, logging out of the cloud and back in again with no luck. I often recieve a notification stating to complete my user registration. When I do so I get a message from the adobe site saying Photoshop CS5 benefits are no longer avaliable (not sure why).
Also on startup, adobe updater.exe crashes. I download it again and tried reinstalling. It still crashes (could the be causing the Ps CC problem?). Any help would be appreiciated.Subject
Apparently my NVidia graphics drivers are causing adobe's Updater.exe to crash o...
I've tried contacting NVidia, followed there instructions and they've now told me to try to contact Adobe again (see below).
With the new drivers Photoshop will now stay open long enough for me to access a menu. The menu will also stay open indeffinetly but Ps CC will close immediatly afterwards. I was able to see that Photoshop was not using my Adobe ID. Not sure if this is any help.

Thank you for the update, since the issue persists with different driver versions for the graphics card I suggest that you check with the application developer for information on possible conflicts or options to troubleshoot this issue and for any such known issues / workarounds on this specific setup For your convenience please click on the following link for the contact details of Adobe

I've tried reinstating the NVidia driver as per your instructions, rebooting and the results are identical (at least as far as I can tell). I get this crash report from Adobe Updater.exe Problem signature:

Photoshop CS4 Crash on startup msvcr80.dll blamed as culprit
I have installed entire CS4 premium on a new workstation. Used Uberinstaller All applications seem to work fine, except for Photoshop which crashes on startup, while the blue splash screen is visible and it is running through it's list of things it is loading.
This only happens with a user level ( that is non-admin ) account, works perfectly with an admin account, or if I give the user level account elevated privileges.
Tried setting permissions on ..\Program Files\Adobe to change, all users, however it still fails.
WinXP Pro, SP3, Dell Optiplex 780 3G Ram , 100G SATA HDD partition.
Thx
TimeTravellerMonitor the splash screen and tell us at which point it is exactly crashing. This might be just one specific plug-in/ extension, not the program itself. also monitor the process with Sysinternals' Process Explorer. Might be just some silly registry key it cannot access as well.

I have Photoshop 4.0. I use Windows 7. Photoshop keeps crashing. Is there an update or a fix? Thanks.
Is your windows 7 a 32 or 64 bit operating system?
Do you have the photoshop 4.01 update installed?
What is the size and free space of the drive that you installed ps 4 on?
How much ram does your computer have?
If you right click on the ps 4 shortcut and choose Run As Administrator, does that make a difference?
Under File>Preferences what are the settings under Plug-ins & Scratch Disk and Memory & Image Cache?
Sorry for all the questions, but ps 4 was made well before windows 7, so it's not as easy to tell what might be wrong. -
I have Adobe Photoshop CS4 and have just upgraded my Mac operating system to Yosemite with the newest version of Java 2014 running. When I try to access Photoshop from Bridge or directly open it asks for a Legacy Version of Java 6. As I am a pensioner I cannot afford an upgrade does anyone know of a work-around for this problem?
Hi Daddyfred,
CS4 Photoshop has not been tested on Yosemite. But still you can try the Java 6 update using the below link.

Adobe Photoshop CC Crashing On Startup
I just downloaded Photoshop CC today, and every time I try to open it, it loads, loads, 2 seconds after it opens up, it crashes. Now, I did find a way to bypass this, I don't know what key combination I did but it said open file, and as I uploaded a file, it said do you want to save your work before Photoshop exits. But what's strange is that a window pops up after the crash and says License Or Continue with trial. It happens after every crash. I looked EVERYWHERE (believe me, everywhere) on the internet and I tried these methods without success:
Pressing Ctrl, Shift, Alt key on startup
Relogging into Adobe cloud
Updating Graphics card driver
Deleting preferences file manually, but strangely, there is no preference file, there isn't even a "Photoshop" folder
Reinstalled Adobe cloud and Photoshop like 12 times (and used the adobe install cleaner tool
Renaming the cache file
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Saw this fix in another thread. Needless to say it worked. THANK YOU.
I think I have a possible fix for you. All of my CC 2014 applications were crashing, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc. I update graphics drivers, emptied the SLCache folder, everything that was mentioned in this thread I did, including uninstalling all CC apps, running the CC Cleaner tool and re-installing Photoshop CC 2014. I was still crashing after the splash screen.
What got it to work for me was allowing full control to the SLCache folder. Here is what I was told to do.
1. Navigate to "Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\SLCache"
2. Delete all of the contents of this folder, including hidden files.
3. Go up one level to "Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe"
4. Right click on the SLCache folder, go to properties.
5. On the General tab, make sure "Read Only" in not checked.
6. Under the Security tab, click "Edit..."
7. Highlight "Users" in the Group or user names box.
8. Make sure the "Full Control" permission is Allowed (checked).
9. Do the same for "Administrators" and "SYSTEM" selections as well. (I went ahead and made sure every group/user in that list was allowed full control.)
10. Click Apply, Ok for the two dialog boxes.
11. Open your program and see the issue is resolved.
That got at least Photoshop CC 2014 working. I am currently downloading Illustrator to see if that will work as well. I will report back if not. Thanks to Manoj Kumar for the help through Adobe Chat help. -
After Effects and Photoshop suddenly crashes on startup
Hi,
I have a licenced version of Creative Suite CS5.5 and working on Windows 7
Yesterday I worked with Photoshop and After effects, ans ome things in illustrator as well. Everything worked well, I closed the programs for the day, and turned off the computer.
To day, when starting again, AE wont start, it crashes on startup, leaving me error messages
3468 <dynamic link><5> 000000001BA93B80
(with different numbers every time)
At the same time Photoshop Extended also has the same issues - crashes on startup, regardles if I start 32 bit or 64 bit version. PS does not give any error messages, it is just a message from Windows telling that it has stopped working. Tjis always happens at "Initializing menus..."
I have not downloaded anything since yesterday or done any changes to the computer. I have now uninstalled PS and AE, and retarted the computer and then installed again. Excatly the same thing happens...
Any idea what this can be caused of?
Reagrds,
Håkan
ADDED:
I have now uninstalled the whole suite, then restarted the computer, installed the suite again - same result. So strangem since it worked before, and I just did not do anything wuíth the computer... Other programs in the Suite is working.

You have an issue with your graphics card driver. Update it and configure it properly.

Photoshop CS4 crash on startup on Snow Leopard 10.6.2
Hello,
I can't run photoshop cs4 on my macbook: the dock icon jumps for a second and then disappears. I've downloaded the latest photoshop trial, installed it and it still crashes upon startup.
Here are the log messages from Console:
3/28/10 2:14:57 PM [0x0-0x3a03a].com.adobe.Photoshop[1033] /System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Support/LaunchCFMApp[1033] Launch failed with error code -2857 (cfragCFragRsrcErr) for application /Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS4/Adobe Photoshop CS4.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Photoshop CS4

I have white intel macbook, with Snow Leopard 10.6.2 installed.
Also I've noticed in Activity Monitor that photoshop process appears for a second and then disappears. What strange is that "kind" column displays PowerPC instead of Intel or Intel64.... But when I start Adobe Bridge CS4 (which works good) it displays Intel in "kind" column of Activity Monitor.
Please help...
Alex.I had this same problem with Photoshop CS5. I solved it simply by moving the application from the custom location I had given the Installer, /Applications/Graphics, to /Applications. Then Photoshop told me it had been moved and I had to update my config. It then could run. At this point, I quit and moved the application to my custom location, updated the config again, and it worked from there too. I suppose it needed to run the first time from /Applications.

Photoshop CS2 crashes on startup (Mac OS X 10.6.6)
We have a new Mac in the office. We initially tried to copy all documents/programs from the old to the new, but for some reason, we noticed Photoshop CS2 would crash when we booted it up.
So we uninstalled CS2 entirelly and reinstalled the suite. Still, it crashes upon startup.
I reset the preferences using command+alt+shift, and I double checked the library to ensure I did not see a preferences file in it.
Still it crashed.
I then went and uninstalled all but the system fonts through Fontbook. And...it still crashes.
On a possibly related note (not sure), when I use Indesign, sometimes the type disappears or does not reflect a change unless I click out of the text box and then reclick inside of it. Because of this, we suspected a font issue...but after uninstalling fonts, I'm not so sure.Otherwise, Indesign works fine. (If I restart the program, sometimes it temporarily resolves the issue.)
Of course, customer service told me to "Google" the Photoshop issue because it doesn't support CS2 any more. I've looked, but every thread I've checked has been resolved by one of the steps I've already taken.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Here is my crash report.

Photoshop CS3 crashes on startup in Win 7 Prof 64 bit
Hello everyone,
I'm not sure if this particular problem has been tackled before, if it has, I apologise in advance for double posting!
I have Photoshop CS3 as part of the Master Collection that I upgraded to from the old Macromedia Studio MX. But recently, Photoshop CS3 crashes on start-up and returns the following error: "Adobe Photoshop CS3 has stopped working"
I am running it on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on a system with the following specs:
CPU: Intel® Core™i7 Processor Extreme Edition i7-975 (3.33GHz
RAM: 12 GB
Graphics Card: 2GB ATI RADEON™ HD 5970 PCI EXPRESS - DirectX® 11
HDD: 2x 500 GB
I tried running it under various compatibility modes, but alas, no luck - stops right at the same problem.
I've noticed that it crashes where the loading screen says 'building TWAIN Menus'. The software has been working without a hitch righ up until i tried installing my drivers for my old Dell all in one printer/scanner. These DID have compatibility issues, but I cant find it anywhere on my system to remove them. Or I might;ve removed them when applying a fix to remove it.
So I guess, it's the scanner software that is doing it. (hence I might've answered my own question).
Has anyone experienced this problem? perhaps even with thier own printer/scanners etc? Any ideas how this might be resolved?
Any advice or help would be appreciated, thanks in advance! :-)John Joslin wrote:
You should be able to remove the drivers in Device Manager – or just uninstall the Dell all-in-one.
You can also disable the TWAIN plug-in by putting a tilde in front of its name.
Fantastic! Puting the tilde on the front of the twain plug-in has sorted it. At least it's working until I can get the drivers off. I tried disabling the drivers, no luck, tried removing from device manager, still no luck. Thats something I'll need to sift through the Dell forums for.
But thankfully, Photoshop now boot and works. Thanks guys! -
Photoshop CS5 crashes on startup
Hi all,
I'm the IT Manager of a fashion school and we have 90 Adobe Design Premium in the classrooms. We have a multiuser environment in which users are not administrator and it happens that some of the users are not able to run photoshop cs5. It crashes on startup. Different users (with same privileges) on the same computer can run with success.
This happens with different computer on different classrooms and for different users, but the problem is mainly present on computer attached to USB A3 Scanner Mustek that can be used only in TWAIN mode since WIA driver does not work properly with photoshop.
Any suggestion or trick?
Best regards,
FabrizioI'd try deleting the Photoshop preferences, if you haven't already done so.
Press Ctrl-Shift-Alt IMMEDIATELY after starting Photoshop via its shortcut or icon. If you get it quickly enough, it should prompt you to clear the preferences file.
If you cannot get this screen, Adobe suggests some things on some of their pages on the site... Here's one for example: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/832/cpsid_83223.html

Help! Photoshop cs6 crashes at startup after 13.05 update
Hi,
I urgently need help, please!
I just now tried to update my Photoshop Extended CS6 to 13.05 and now Photoshop CS6 won't open at all. It crashes at startup, no matter how many times I try to open it. Rebooting hasn't made a difference. Not only that, all previous updates have disappeared as well, and in Finder I see that the program shows as 13.0. So this update attempt has wiped out my previous updates to boot.
I should add that I have never, ever had a problem updating Photoshop before (I've owned it since version 5.5, way before CS came around) but something has obviously gone very wrong here despite the fact that throughout the update process I never got an error message.
I am desperate now to find out how to remedy this. What steps can I take to make the program operational again? I don’t even care if I have to skip the update for now. I never would have ventured on this update if I'd known there was the slightest possibility of jeopardizing the functioning of Photoshop.
What do I do now? I leave on an extended travel journey in 24 hours and desperately need Photoshop and Camera Raw to work so I can process my photographs.
I've been searching for solutions online but can't find any clear instructions. Some people mention an Adobe Application Manager but I have not had an error messages so I'm not sure how to proceed.
If anyone is knowledgeable in this area, I'd be most grateful for your input. Thanks in advance!luvtype wrote:
Delete what? Photoshop CS6? Not uninstall? Please clarify. Thanks.
Never just "delete" an Adobe application, never just drag it to the trash!
Always use the Adobe Uninstaller for each application. -
