Hi,
According to the error code, it seems that your computer has a compatibility problem.
First, let us know your PC model.
If you're running Windows 8 or Windows 7, the best way to tell if your PC and connected devices are ready for Windows 8.1 is to download and run Windows 8.1 Upgrade Assistant, which scans them and tells you if there is anything you'll need to do before or
after updating.
Please use
Upgrade Assistant to check your computer.
We also recommend that you visit your PC manufacturer's website for info about updated drivers and hardware compatibility.

  • Windows 8.1 Pro upgrade = No Wifi Network USB N+ "working normally"

    Hello,
I used the Microsoft store to download the Windows 8.1 Pro upgrade.
After I got everything started, there is no WiFi connection.
I don't mean it is having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi, I mean it shows no Wi-Fi at all. The "troubleshooter" only wants me to connect a cable to the network. The wireless signal graph shows a RED X overlaid on it and does not pick up any wifi signals-
not only that, but it does not even LOOK for WiFi signals.
Device manager shows my Belkin USB N+ wireless network adapter as working normally.
Using suggestions from an 8.1 preview problem I have tried disabling/re-enabling, re-installing updated drivers from Belkin.com to no avail. The computer thinks the device is working normally. What the computer thinks the device is supposed to be doing while
    working normally is anyone's guess.
There is nothing wrong with my Wi-Fi. Every other computer and cell phone that uses the connection is fine. This is a Windows 8.1 issue. Please help!
[Someone suggested updating BIOS. Not sure why, the computer was working PERFECTLY until the Windows 8.1 Pro free upgrade. ]
edit: this is 32 bit Win 8.1 (I assume it doesn't upgrade from 32 to 64 bit just because my system is capable of it) on a Zt systems PC with Core2 Quad processor and 4GB Ram if that makes any difference.

I have had the exact same problem as you have.  contacted Microsoft techs but they could not solve the problem at all and had me revert back to windows 8 pro which now recognizes the wireless.  I suggest you go back to windows 8 if you need to
    use the wireless.

  • Upgrade fails because of gcc-gcj

Full system upgrade fails because the following dependency cannot be satisfied.
    :: gcc-gcj: requires gcc=4.6.1
    Any solution?
    ty

    (sigh)
    I am still stuck;
if I try to update (via pacman) either libtool/gcc-fortran I get that they cannot be updated because gcc-fortran/libtool and gcc-gcj need gcc 4.6.1
if I try to update (via yaourt) gcc-gcj it says that libtool AND gcc-fortran require gcc 4.6.1 (even though gcc-gcj is up to date)
My mirror says that gcc-fortran is at the version 4.6.2-1 and libtool at 2.4.2
My mirror is up to date
Basically I am stuck in a loop.
A solution would be to uninstall gcc-gcj and reinstall it, but pdftk depends on it, and last time I installed it it took something like two hours to complete, I would like to avoid that
    Any suggestion?
    (edit: thanks for the help!)

  • Windows 8.1 Pro Pack fails to install

Been trying to install Windows 8.1 Pro Pack on my Dell XPS but it continues to fail, indicating 'something went wrong'.  I worked with two different Microsoft support techs on this.  The first executed a number of scans and started dism.exe /online
/cleanup-image /scanhealth, which finished successfully.  They then started dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth, which started and remained at 40%.  The first tech later disconnected.   I worked with another tech that performed
a virus scan and then indicated that I would have to pay for premium service for him to scan the laptop again.
There are no errors listed in the system log that I can find and no way to determine what 'something went wrong' means.  All of the non-Microsoft services have already been disabled by the first tech using 'msconfig' so there is nothing running other
than Windows.  Does anyone know where there might be a log or trace that I can check to determine why the Pro Pack won't install?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
We can check the following path to troubleshoot the installation.
    C:\WINDOWS\PANTHER\setupact.log
    C:\WINDOWS\PANTHER\setuperr.log
Also, please upload it to Onedrive and post the link here.
I would like to share the article:

  • Query on Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro Upgrade Licensing

I am upgrading from Windows XP OEM to Windows 8.1 Upgrade paper license. Does these upgraded paper of  Windows 8.1 would still be valid if I discard OEM machine after 1-2 year? Or upgrade license would be legally invalid once actual machine will be
down/discarded. My second query is that
Instead of upgrade If I buy  fresh/new win8.1 paper license through Open License Policy and install on these Windows XP machine, would these licenses still be valid in case machine down/discarded?

If you are referring to retail upgrade licensing, that license is separate from the OEM license which validates the upgrade. So if you have a system with Windows XP OEM and you install a retail upgrade on it, then discard the box as part of a refresh to
a new system which has Windows 7 preinstalled, the upgrade license can be used on the new system once it is removed from the old system.
Volume Licenses for Windows are only available as upgrades, so the same logic applies to them. In neither case can the upgrade operating system be installed to a system which does not have a qualifying operating system (bare metal).

  • Satellite Pro C50-A-1E6: Windows 7 Pro to Windows 8.1 Pro Upgrade

    Hello,
My laptop came with Windows 7 Pro pre-installed and also came with the disks to upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro, when I reboot the laptop to the optical drive with the Windows 8.1 Pro disk in there doesn't seem to be any options for upgrading Windows rather it is just the generic tools for recovering/backing up the laptop and installing Windows 8.1 Pro isn't mentioned anywhere.
Am I missing something? Do I need to format the laptop in order for it to pick up the Windows 8.1 set-up process?
The laptop seems to be picking up the Windows 8.1 Pro disk as the interface is similar to that of Windows 8 (when choosing region/keyboard) but as I mentioned it just defaults to repairing the existing installation with no options to upgrade.
    Cheers,
    Paul

    >Am I missing something? Do I need to format the laptop in order for it to pick up the Windows 8.1 set-up process?
Youve got the WIN 8.1 64BIT PRO DVD disk.
I think this is NOT a upgrade disk but using this installation disk, the system (Win 8.1) will be installed on the HDD and this procedure would get rid of Win 7
So before trying to install Win 8.1 I would recommend you to create the Toshiba Recovery medium as described in user manual. Read it!
After the Recovery medium (Disk or UBS flash stick) has been created, you could boot from the WIN 8.1 64BIT PRO DVD in order to start the installation!

  • Windows 8.1 pro upgrade stops drivers

I have a top-quality All-in-One device Photosmart C7183 which has been working for a long time without problems, including a transition to Windows 8 pro. But, after applying the upgrade for Windows 8.1 pro, all the drivers and softs stopped working, it was hardly to delete them manually to attempt  to reinstall, and (!) the associated driver soft file AIO_CDA_FSW_Full_Win_WW_140_408.exe does NOT RUN at all!
Whether you can advise me anything, please?

I could get nothing from the native HP software and did as follows: I have downloaded from Internet and installed a generic printer driver with the Win 8 printer setup utility . For support of operation of the scanner I have installed excellent program VueScan. All operates correctly. The only that I have to do manually is sending a fax .
I have in my home network two more Sony Vaio computers and all of them work with the All-in One device through Wi-Fi without problems, using the native HP software. But they have another Operation Systems: Win 7 and Vista.

  • Windows 8.1 Pro upgrade issue (from Windows 8 Pro) on Envy 23 TouchSmart All-In-One...

    Hello,
I have an HP Envy 23 Touchsmart All-In-One that I purchased a year ago (around 12/2012). It came preinstalled with Windows 8.
    System Information:
    a) Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770S CPU @ 3.10 GHz
    b) 8192 MB of RAM
A few weeks after I had bought the system, I upgraded to Windows 8 Pro with Media Center that I purchased through Microsoft's upgrade program.
Last week (10/19/2013), I saw the upgrade option to Windows 8.1 in the store and decided to upgrade.
After a few minutes, I got a prompt asking me to restart the computer and I did.
However, I noticed that the screen went blank, but it really didn't restart - I saw that the hard disk light was still blinking and I waited for around 15 minutes. I know it didn't restart because if it did I would have seen the HP logo on the BIOS screen. A little later, the system went into sleep mode (at least, the power button light was blinking slowly as if it was on sleep). Since it was late at night, I decided to leave the system alone and decided to check on it next morning. Next morning, it was still in sleep mode (as I feared) - when I tried to wake it up from sleep by moving the mouse/hitting the return key, it made the exact sounds as if it was waking up from sleep (as it always does), but the screen was still blank. The power button slight was glowing steadily indicating that it is awake now.
At this point, I decided to power down the system by holding the power button for a few seconds. Upon reboot, I saw the HP logo on the BIOS bootup screen and then the screen went blank and nothing came up.
So I decided to do a system recovery using my Windows 8 recovery CD and powered down the system with the CD in its slot. This time, the system came up and immediately started restoring my OS to a previous version.
Upon logging in to the recovered system, I got the following message:
    "Couldn't update to Windows 8.1
Sorry, we couldn't complete the update to Windows 8.1. We've restored your previous version of Windows to this PC.
    0xC1900101 - 0x40019".
I tried reinstalling Windows 8.1 a couple of times after this. Once by disabling all the non-Microsoft services and disabling all the startup programs. Still the same result.
I don't have any antivirus software on my system other the default Microsoft system protection software.
    Any help, much appreciated.
    Thanks.

Before that, I had read about depreciation of net-tools and have already modified my rc.conf to use the newer simple network setup. Everything was working fine. Even upgradation of the system (pacman -Syu) also worked fine last week.
I was out of town for a few days. So, when I came back on Sunday, I tried updating the system. Pacman found updates and downloaded them. But it failed when actually upgrading the packages. It gives the following error:
    [vinay@arch ~]$ sudo pacman -Syu

    net-tools: /usr/share/man/man1/hostname.1.gz exists in filesystem
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
As you can see it complains about /bin/hostname file existing in the filesystem and that causing problem for net-tools package. I'm not sure how or why this happened. The /bin/hostname is supposed to be available on the filesystem, right?
Since net-tools was depreciated in favour of netcfg, I tried removing net-tools. When I try that, it offers to remove netcfg package as well!
    [vinay@arch ~]$ sudo pacman -Rcsu net-tools

What I did was to upgrade each package manually (excluding net-tools package). But this is cumbersome and tedious. I did a search on the forum and on internet and did not find other people with the same problem. So, is something wrong/corrupt on my arch installation?
If so, how do I fix it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Vinay V

Thanks for the reply. I should have searched for a generic "exists in filesystem" rather than net-tools error specific "/bin/hostname exists in filesystem". I thought this was because of the recent move to netcfg from net-tools. Maybe I'm mistaken.
Anyway, thanks for pointing out that stikie to me. Let me try the suggestions in that post

  • Libgl-dri - libgl upgrade fails because libGL.so.1 is present.

    Attempting the libgl-dri -> libgl upgrade :
error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
    libgl: /usr/lib/libGL.so.1 exists in filesystem
errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
Umm thinking as I type, perhaps this is because I have the nVidia proprietary driver installed and did that when I installed Arch a couple of months ago and realise that it was available via pacman.  I will post anyway in case the issue affects anyone else, or someone can tell me that there is a different reason.
And a P.S.  by way of an edit. I just tried to install the upgrade to mplayer separately from libgl (it came as part of the same -Syu exercise), and it fails for the same reason - maybe that was the problem in the first place?

You mean you installed nvidia from their 'official installer'?  That would cause this problem - if you want nvidia, use pacman's packages to avoid this in the future.

  • Why does my XI pro upgrade fail?

I am trying to upgrade from Acrobat XI standard to Pro but the setup fails, telling me there is already a more functional product installed.  This is on a Dell laptop that came with XI standard installed.  I'm not sure I know where the serial number is.  I imagine I may need to uninstall the existing, but my experience has been that an upgrade needs to find something upgradeable.  I'm worried that if this fails still, I'm dead in the water.  Any thoughts?

    Hi rnavat,
First of all Acrobat 11 Std. and Pro cannot be installed together. You need to remove the Std. version to install the Pro else it will give the error you mentioned above.
Acrobat 11 Std. that you bought is it an upgrade from a previous version or is it a new purchase (retail version).
If it's an upgrade then you need to enter the older version serial number you owned when prompted by the installer.
If you have purchased Acrobat 11 Pro as well then you can return the Acrobat 11 Std. and get a refund.
    Regards,
    Rave

    (1/1) removing nvidia-dkms [######################] 100%
    # pacman -Syu ### This ran as expected.
All I wanted was to have the simplest use of the Nvidia proprietary driver.  So I followed https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NV … any_kernel
So what I gather from the discussion here is that this (nvidia-dkms) should only be used for custom kernels?  And the topic should be a sub topic of https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NV … tom_kernel?  Is that right?
    Thanks for you help.
