Windows 8.1, PSE9

I have just purchased a new laptop running Windows 8.1, and installed PSE9 onto it. However, when I have tried to do a Panorama merge, I get a message that says it has stopped working, and Windows will look for a fix. It does not find one and shuts down. Basically does this mean PSE will not run properly in Windows 8.1? Have I therefore got to upgrade to a later version of PSE?

  • I'm using windows 7 with PSE9.  Where is the menu bar??

This is a brand new computer

new individual license of PSE9,  My PSE 7 worked great on my XP.
How do I get the menu bar to show?
Alsom the 'Export' option in the editor is grayed out.  How do I export as new file????

Try checking screen resolution via the control panel. If set to 1024 x 768 which is quite common try adjusting to something like 1600 x 900 if possible.
Also check dpi scaling? Ideally it should be 100% or 96dpi

  • PSE9 and Windows 7

I am attempting to download the trial of PSE 9 on my Wife's laptap which runs Windows 7. Every time we go to select PSE9 trial off the download area it automatically goes to CS5 extended. If I do the same thing on my desktop w/ Windows XP it shows PSE9 as it should. Help!!! Is there a problem with Windows 7 and PSE9 that I don't know about?  Thanks in advance.

  • Error 400 in signing in to PSE9

I have Windows 7 and PSE9. I can sign in to my account with Photoshop.Com but not to my PSE9. I cannot sync files to Photoshop.Com or Revel. I can also not access the installed Photoessentials 3. I have checked my firewall and all seems to be okay to accept these programs. I have also checked that I can access Photoshop.Com with Internet Explorer. I'm out of options. Help please.
    Thanks. Jan

Photoshop.com no longer has any photo storage. Now it's merely a showcase for Photoshop CC features.
If you had photos there you should have received several emails from adobe about your photos getting moved to revel. However, you can't use revel from within PSE the way you could photoshop.com. Sign out, turn off syncing, and don't use the welcome screen. Go into the program files or program files(x86) in windows or the applications folder on a mac, find the actual .exe/application for the editor and/or organizer, make a desktop shortcut/dock icon, and use that in future to launch PSE.

  • Color distortion when editing in PSE9

In the past few days I've suddenly been getting some really weird color anomalies in my editing windows when using PSE9.  The bright areas are being filled with globs of optical primary red and the shadows are being filled with optical primary blue.
Has anyone else experienced this?  Will I need to uninstall and reinstall PSE9 to fix it?  And if I do, will importing tagged images rebuild my extensive tag hierarchy?
Any help will be much appreciated!

Yes, and Bless you Barbara!!!  LOL  I must have accidentally clicked the boxes in my previous session.
I love easy fixes and I'm so happy I decided to start an account and ask here before reinstalling.   If I could reach you, I'd give you a hug!
    Thank you!

  • Sony a580, PSE8 and Camera Raw

Hi, having just purchased a sony a580 i've just found out that the RAW files are not supported by current ACR.
I use PSE8.   Will there be an update available soon that will support RAW files from the a580 in ACR & PSE8?

ACR 6.3 plug-in is now available for PSE9. ACR 6.2 can be used to update PSE8. To find out what version you have open the PSE Editor and click:
    Help >> About Plug-in >> Camera Raw
You can simply open the Editor and click on Help >Updates or download manually. If downloading manually to the desktop, extract the files, and double click on the AdobePatchInstaller file - then follow the on-screen instructions.
Click here for Windows download for PSE9.
Click here for MAC download for PSE9.
Click herefor Windows download for PSE8.
Click here for MAC download for PSE8.
N.B. For those not wishing to upgrade to PSE9 - you can use the freely available DNG converter 6.3 and then use Elements to open and edit the DNG files. It’s recommended you keep your original raw files as back-up as they can always be read by your camera software.
    DNG Converter 6.3 for Windows.
    DNG Converter 6.3 for MAC.

  • The installation process of PSE9 on Windows 8.1 is interrupted late in the process with the comment

The installation process of PSE9 on Windows 8.1 is interrupted late in the process with the comment "could not install Shared Technologies". What is wrong?

  • PSE9: No thumbnail images of PSD files in Windows Explorer

    Win7 x64 SP1
    PSE 9.0.3
When using Windows Explorer to view a directory, *.psd files are shown with a generic PSE icon rather than as thumbnail images.  PSE9 is set as the default program for *.psd files.
Is there any way to get thumbnail images to display in Explorer?
    Ken

Yeah, I've heard that too, but I'm not buying that excuse:
It's not MicroSoft's responsibility for making someone's thumbnails work.  MS provides the documentation (I assume) for developers to write code for a DLL to display thumbnails in Windows Explorer.  It's up to the developer to do it.
Other software programs which use a proprietary image format do supply those DLLs.  Three examples that I use on my PC are:
        a.  Corel's CorelDraw and PhotoPaint install the appropriate shell DLLs to display their native files as thumbnails.
        b.  Xara also provides a 64-bit DLL which, when manually registered, displays their native file format as thumbnails.
        c.  The open-source Paint.Net group registers the DLL to display their native format as thumbnails.
God knows that those three, and especially the Paint.Net group, don't have the hundreds of millions of dollars and hundreds of developers that Adobe does, yet those three chose to do the right thing and provide what I consider to be an essential feature.
Apparently this has been going on for a long time -- certainly long enough for Adobe to write the darned code, if only Adobe had the will to do it.
PSE9 is the only Adobe product I currently have purchased and this issue just sticks in my craw.  Other than that, I've got nothing but praise for the program.

  • Windows Live Mail 2011 & PSE9

I raised a query with Adobe and was told that Windows7/64bit/WLM 2011 works with PSE9. However
I am also reading in this forum that it does not support WLM2011 ... see below
Which is correct ... I need to know before I part with money to purchase PSE9.
Nov 5, 2010 1:07 PM in response to: lorainechubb Re: PSE9 and Windows Live Mail - Help
Adobe have had problems with the Windows 7 email client ever since they issued a patch for PSE8.
Furthermore it will not work with 64 bit editions of Outlook, to the disappointment of many but you would think they would have sorted out Live Mail before launching PSE9. The product help screens are entirely misleading.
Both PSE8 and PSE9 are said to be Windows 7 compatible, but in reality they aren’t. Even after downloading the patch Adobe customers are still reporting problems.
If you are using a purchased copy of PSE9, rather than the trial I would suggest you raise a ticket with the support team and claim your entitlement to help with a solution.

    Thanks for your replies.
I guess that waiting for PSE10 is the best route. Seems difficult to get direct answers about the compatability of Windows Live Mail 2011 ... Adobe say OK but no forum user reply (that I have found) seems to agree? My WLM is completely 'as offered' by Microsoft and up to date and I am sure that there are many 100's/1000's of Elements users who have the same setup as myself eg Windows7/64bit. To them I ask for a reply 'it works/it does not work'.
Maybe a 'trial' is the best route. But I am not keen on a 'suck it and see' solution. It works or it does not on 'standard installations'.
    Thanks again.

  • PSE9 and Windows Live Mail - Help

I am trying to send photos via "Share" email attachement and Windows Live Mail.  I get to the part where you are supposed to be sent to WLM, and then it comes up with the error message "Elements Organizer could not finish creating your e-mail message.  Alternately, you can use Adobe E-mail Service via the Elements organizer preference dialog."  WLM has been selected as the mail server in the preferences section of Elements, and also in Windows 7.
I don't want to send mail through Adobe E-mail Service, but I did try that.  I get to the same spot, and the entire program crashes.
    Furstrated!

  • When I open 2 windows in PSE9 how do I drag one out of the way in order to move an image ?

when I open two images in PSE9 how do I move the windows in order to transfer one figure to another?

    Hi ocalashirley,
If you want to have two images side by side, open Editor and launch its preferences (Ctrl+K on Win/Cmnd+K on Mac). Under the General tab, you will see a checkbox saying "Allow Floating Documents in Expert Mode". Check this checkbox. and select Ok button.
Now open the images you want. Go to Window menu> Images > Float All in Windows. You can then drag the windows side by side.
Now if you want to transfer a figure from one photo to another, there are many ways to do that. What I do is this:
Select the figure from the first image (from which you want to copy) using Quick Selection tool. Copy it (Cmnd+C). Now go to the other image. Paste the selected figure on second image (Cmnd+V). Use Move tool to resize or move the pasted figure on second image.

  • Installation of PSE9 on a new Windows 7 computer

I have PSE9, which was installed on a Win XP computer, and I just installed it on a new Windows 7 machine and transferred the catalog and photos to the new computer.  I was able to successfully start the Organizer and selected File - Catalog and browsed to point to the MyCatalog folder containing my existing catalog.  When I clicked on Done, the Organizer immediately aborted and now when I try to restart the Organizer, it immediately closes, so I am not able to go back and try to make any changes to the catalog selection.
First, how do I restore the program, so I can make another attempt to correct the catalog problem?  I tried to reinstall, but it's first asking to de-install PSE and says that I should deactivate the serial number, but doesn't say how to do that.  Is that necessary if reinstalling on the same computer?  If so, how is that done?  I also didn't deactivate the serial number in the old computer.  Is that a problem?
Then, when PSE Organizer is running again, what is the procedure for connecting with an existing catalog?  Is any conversion of the catalog necessary since going from WinXP to WIn7?
    I appreciate any help.
    Steve

OK, there's some good info, thanks.  The important thing is the message that the catalog is corrupt.  We'll attack it this way:  first getting the Organizer to launch directly, then attempting to repair the catalog.
    1.  Bypass the Unwelcome Screen by creating Desktop shortcuts for the Organizer and the Editor.
    The Editor's executable is:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
    The Organizer's executable is:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe"
The Unwelcome Screen leaves a zombie process running which prevents the actual program from launching again.
    2.  Start the Organizer from that shortcut while holding down the Ctrl+Shift keys.  That will get you directly into the Catalog Manager.  Highlight your catalog in the lower panel and hit the "Repair" button.  After the repair completes,
    hit the "Optimize" button.
    See if Organizer now works.
