Windows 8.1 RT PDF previewer not installed.

I'm trying to use Windows 8.1 Outlook 2013 RT and I can't preview PDF files within outlook. I have Adobe Reader touch installed. On my desktop, I just install Adobe Reader and restart.
How do I make this work on RT.
Thanks

Hi,
Windows Store apps(including Adobe Reader Touch) don't offer the preview capability in the desktop environment.
We confirm you need to install Adobe Reader XI from Adobe Reader offical website to ensure that Outlook 2013 could preview PDF file.
However, we could not confirm whether Adobe provide the Adobe Reader program for Outlook RT. We'd suggest that you consult Adobe Support for help.
Best regards,
Karen Hu

  • Acrobat Pro X PDF previewing not working in Windows 7 64-bit

    Greetings, all,
The organization I work for recently purchased a volume license for Acrobat Pro X.  We uninstalled Adobe Reader from all of our machines and installed Acrobat Pro X on them.  After the move, the PDF preview handler stopped working.  People commonly link to the URL below, but it has not worked for us.  It appears it only works for the PDF preview handler packaged with Adobe Reader, not the one packaged with Acrobat Pro.

Users are unable to preview PDFs in Windows Explorer and Microsoft Office Outlook 2007.  When attempting to preview in Windows Explorer, the following appears:
       This file can't be previewed.
What can we do to get the preview handler working in Windows Explorer (Windows 7 64-bit) and Office Outlook 2007?
    Thanks in advance!

Well, thumbnails in Explorer don't work either, but we're not concerned about it.  The preview pane is what we're worried about.  There is a button in the top-right that turns the pane on.  Previewing in Outlook does not work either.

I am designing forms in LiveCycle version 8.0. The PDF Preview is not available. The help file says it's because I don't have Acrobat installed. I have Acrobat Professional version 8 installed. How do I get the PDF preview?

This just started happening for me today. Yesterday Designer 8 was fine. PDF preview was available. Today, suddenly, it's grayed out in the menu and the PDF Preview tab is missing from the main window... POOF! Gone!

  • Windows 8 May 31 Release Preview successfully installed in Bootcamp

I installed the May 31 final preview release of Windows 8 yesterday on an early 2011 MacBook Pro with an existing Bootcamp Windows partition. I burned an ISO image of the 64 bit OS to DVD http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/release-preview and then used it for the install. The install went smoothly, however you need to be alert to several (about 5) auto restarts so you can choose Windows boot each time. The install DVD shows up in the Boot Choices but always choose the Windows Bootcamp partition on restarts and not the DVD after the initial Windows 8 Setup starts to run. The most important thing to note is that the install preserves NOTHING except existing folders and data files, so you have to reinstall all programs. As far as I can tell I can't restore an old Windows backup (maybe you could use a Win 8 Consumer Preview backup if you already have that loaded). I then installed the Bootcamp Drivers (V4). It all works pretty smoothly, a few beta bugs and some incompatible features, but with some patience and minimal work arounds it is very usable with the trackpad.
As far as Windows 8 is concerned it is a lot better than I expected. Metro is about as opposite from Aero / Win 7 as you can get, but it is a bold step that MS needed to make to keep up with Apple. My biggest concern is with Metro and productivity, it seems less oriented to what Windows did best, multi-tasking. I think power users will be switching back and forth between the Desktop and Metro. Gestures are different, maybe a bit more intuitive on a tablet than IOS, Live tiles are ok, but not very useful. They focus on one item at a time - so they don't really compare to a "notification center" for efficient delivery of info. I would like to see iPad icons get a bit larger and have live notices like current temp and a forecast symbol on the weather app. From a technical standpoint the Metro side of Windows 8 is a refined Windows 7, with far better isolation from the Kernel (still not as good as Apple's Mountain Lion will be). Overall I think MS has gone too far with Metro in simplifying the Desktop UI, but I also don't think Apple did not go far enough (http://gizmodo.com/5819418/mac-os-x-lion-this-is-not-the-future-we-were-hoping-f or The first company to find the sweet spot in the middle will dominate the next decade in computing.

Some web sites won't work IE10 w/o adding to Compatibility List.
there are times when IE will get stuck for me..I'm still looking why or find background process.
    Chrome beta channel seems fine.
There is an AMD driver 5/30 for 8 but Nvidia is still back at 3/13/2011 date.
And they need time to look at the new build I suppose to get their driver.

  • PDF previewer not working in Outlook

    All,
I have recently updated to Adobe reader 11.0.10, I can now open the documents I was not able to open, but the previewer in Outlook stopped working. The error I get is that the doc is not supported by my currect reader and that I have to upgrade to the latest
version. I have done everything that people suggest on the web - trust center settings, etc., but I have not been successful. Has anyone encountered the same issue and do we have a solution?
    Any help is greatly appreciated
    My details: Win 7 Ent / 32 bit / Office 2010 / Adobe reader 11.0.10
    Thanks

    Hi,
Have you checked if the PDF Preview Handler is available and shows as enabled in File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Attachment Handling > Attachment and Document Previewers?
Which format of file are you previewing in Outlook? Please first make sure the format is supported by Adobe reader. You can verify this by consulting the Adobe Reader support. If the file type is supported by Adobe Reader, please open Control Panel,
find and click Default Programs >
Associate a file type or protocol with a program, then locate the file format and make sure
Adobe Reader is set as the default program for the file type.
If it's not a PDF document that you want to preview, we can also try to preview a PDF attachment to see if it works fine. If this issue continues when previewing a PDF attachment in Outlook, I'd recommend we uninstall and then reinstall the Adobe reader
    to see the result.
Please let me know the result.

  • PDF Preview not working in Workspace

    Greetings
Attempts to execute the PDF Preview command in Workspace result in 'PDF has not been configured for this web server.'
The Hyperion S9 BI+ 9.3 Financial Reporting Print Server service was configured to use AFPL Ghostscript 8.51 and was started prior to attempting the command.
Ghostscript itself is installed and tested working.
Checked Workspace's MIME types library and found '.pdf' already mapped to 'application/pdf'.
Read the installation and configuration guides and found no clues as to what may be preventing the print server from generating the PDF preview.
Went through the log files under folder %HYPERION_HOME%\BIPlus\logs, %HYPERION_HOME%\logs\BIPlus, and MS IIS's, but found nothing.
Any ideas on diagnosing and troubleshooting this issue?
    Thanks!

I believe the supported version for ghost script is 7.0.6; I had the same problem and after installing the lower version it worked like a charm.
If you cant find the older version let me know, I'll email it to you or place it in my website.

    Hello ,
The reason for this is that the fields of this form get populated on runtime .
You are not able to see the PDF preview as many field properties presence has been set to hidden .
You can also check XML source of the same.

  • Vista itunes not installed correctly.  Error 7.  Windows error 998.  Itunes helper not installed correctly.  Service Apple Mobile Device failed to start.  Insufficient privileges.

OK, spent about 25 frustrating hours so far this weekend doing everything recommended on numerous threads here -- uninstalling and reinstalling itunes and all Apple items.  Help?
I am using Windows Vista home premium.  After the last iTunes update to 12, it suddenly would not work.  I followed, to a T, all instructions to uninstall all Apples software, in the correct order, reboot, download the latest iTunes, run as administrator, plug in the iPhone 5S, let the driver install, and then finish.
Along the way, I received the error that "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."  I am the administrator and have privileges.  (I previously followed instructions from anther thread to change the read-only privileges for Apple folders, but to no avail.  I also deleted every file with the word Apple in it after I uninstalled everything.)  I did a retry and then an ignore during installation of the AMD error, which I have received 10 times.
The other error I keep getting is:  "iTunesHelper was not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes.  Error 7."  I have done that 20 times.
Other frequent error:  "iTunes was not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes.  Error 7 (Windows error 998)."
I followed other threads suggestions to install Windows .NET versions 3.5 and 4.0.  No help.  I also looked for various specific Apple files in various folders for DLLs, etc.  Not present.  I have rebooted 50 times and tried different users on my home account as well.  Nothing.
I also followed instructions to Manage my computer under "services."  Under Apple Mobile Device, the setting is for "automatic."  When I try to get it to "start," the error I receive is "Windows could not start the Apple Mobile Device on Local Computer.  Error 1053:  The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."  (I followed previous thread instructions to use the CMD prompt to stop it.  That caused problems because the status was then "stopped," but I was able to restart it later once I figured that out -- but with the 1053 error again.)
I think I've tried every suggestion in every thread for the four errors I keep getting (AMD failed to start; iTunesHelper Error 7; Windows error 998; and AMD Error 1053.)  I am fresh out of ideas and very frustrated.  I mostly want to make sure I don't lose my music and photos, which I was about to sync.
The only other thing I see that is strange on my computer (which I discovered along the way) is that I cannot receive automatic windows updates and have not had an update since 2012.  My iTunes worked a month ago, so that was obviously not a show-stopper in the past, but perhaps there is a Vista update I need for iTunes 12?  I have service pack 2 for Vista.  I have followed all threads to try to set my windows to automatic update, but no joy there either.  It checks for updates and then fails.  I followed instructions and did run an installation to install windows automatic updates, but that doesn't work either.  I tried 10 times.  It runs and takes a while, but is never able to successfully update windows.  It says "checking for updates" for a while.  Then it dies.  My last update was 6/19/12 (failed) and it says the most recent check was 6/22/12, but I have tried 20 times on 10/31/14 and 11/1/14.
When asked to "Install new Windows Update software" to check for updates, I have done so 10 times.  It downloads and installs, but never works.
It's an old Dell desktop computer from 2006, and I'm using an iPhone 5S.  I am fresh out of ideas.  Anyone really smart here?
    Thanks.
    Tristan

Upon latest reboot, I also received this error message:  "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005).  Click OK to terminate the application."
Then I got the iTunesHelper not installed correctly error again.
Then the "Windows can't check for updates" error message.
Then "Apple Push has stopped working."  Then a quick DEP error message that disappeared but said something about Apple Push being closed.
I'm also getting denials of service logged by McAffee.  Not sure if I'm getting a virus/attack or not.
Not sure if it's a problem with my old desktop machine, my Windows Vista updates, or iTunes, but I'm very frustrated and out of ideas to try.
    Thank you for your help!

  • Windows 7 64 bit OS will not install any HP print drivers

My HP Pavilion p7-1297cb pc which is running windows 7 home premium 64 bit OS will not install any HP print drivers. All my windows updates are current, HP print and scan doctor did not fix it, I also tried MS fix it manager and did not work.  When I try to use my HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus installation CD or HP's download center, software almost installs, but says print drivers will not install.  Also, I tried using USB connection and windows tries to install software, but does not work.  Same for HP print driver support.   I tried installing 3 different HP printers I had and all had the same issue. Any ideas on why my system will not allow any print drivers to install?

    Hi rrfhp,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand none of the HP drivers will fully install.
I will be happy to help you.
Are you signed in as the Administrator of the computer?
I would turn off all start up programs to make sure there isn't something blocking the printer.
Click on start, in the search box type in run, enter, then type in msconfig, click OK.
    Click the Services tab.
Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.
Click Disable All, and then click OK.
Then click on the start up tab at the top.
    Click on disable all.
    Reboot the computer.
Temporarily turn off any Antivirus software.
Then run the installation again by right clicking on the setup and selecting run as Admininstrator.
Don't connect the USB cable until prompted.
    Try printing now.
Then go back into msconfig and enable the All Microsoft Services and enable all on the start up tab.
Turn the Antivirus software back on again.
Please let me know the results if you are still having issues.
Are you getting any error messages?

I just tried to install latest iTunes version and install failed. A pop-up stated "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. ERROR 7 (Windows error 1114)." I have a decent-sized iTunes library that is not backed-up to the cloud. How can I either get back to the previous iTunes version that was functioning OR install a new version without losing the Library?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • Items visible in PDF Preview not visible in Design View

    Hello-
I used the auto create function to turn an existing PDF info a fill-in able PDF. Auto create "auto detects" form fields, including in some areas of the form that are not fields at all (blank areas, etc.). I go into Design View and remove any extra fields. However, I've discovered there are some fill-inable fields visible in PDF Preview and in the actual PDF itself (once saved) that are not visible at all in Design View- thus I can't click on them and delete them- they just aren't visible in that view. I've read the forums and it seems the opposite problem is more common, in which something shows in Design View but does not show in PDF Preview or in the final PDF.
Any guidance on what's going on? Next steps? I'm not a coder, so the simpler the better. Thanks to anyone with suggestions.

All the fields on your form are listed in the Hierarchy which is generally on the left-hand side of your screen. In there you should be able to go through each field and delete the ones you don't need.

Below is my installation process step by step:
I put in my windows 8.1 installation disk.
I run my windows 8.1 installation disk.
I then enter my correct windows 8.1 product key "XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX"
Wait for windows to verify product key, which is verified every attempt.
    I proceed,

I choose to keep my personal files,
    I click next,
I then agree to the license agreement,
    I click install,
    Installation begins,
And then at 51% (on all of my attempts) a notification box appears stating that my installation of windows 8.1 has failed and below text is a "OK" button which you have to click to go back to your
    desktop.
There is no information on why windows failed.
I don't understand why this is happening. What could be causing my windows 8.1 to fail installation?
