Windows 8.1 SQL Server 2014 Enterprise Error Number: 18456

I didn't have this problem with the Sql 2014 Developer but not I am having issues with the Enterprise Edition giving me the following error I am using Windows 8.1:

Yes, you can replicate from Enterprise edition to Standard edition. The only caveat is Peer-to-Peer Replication requires all nodes to be Enterprise Edition.

Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Setup error: Wait on the Database Engine recovery handle failed

Hi,
Having this annoying error trying to install SQL Server 2014 (RTM). I saw it's been asked several times... But each post seems a different cause and no definitive answer...
I'm not doing an upgrade, so no "sa account" issue.
Tried different media. Even three different distributions: trial, Standard and Enterprise.
Tried disabling Microsoft antivirus/firewall.
Of course tried restarting, updating, installing, uninstalling, repairing, etc., etc.
I noticed the users folders under C:\Users weren't created. (Maybe something related to permissions?) After playing around, I managed for the users to be created and the service started. Though I couldn't log in.

Installing SQL SERVER 2014 Entreprise Error

today I tried to install

and when I started the installation I got this error:

SQL SERVER 2014 Installation error

Hi, I'm having great difficulty in installing SQL server 2014 developer edition 64- bit . When I use to run setup it says sql server boot strapper.dll is missing although it is present inside the folder and when I opened the sql setup bootstrapper.dll it
gives the error "This file doesn't have a program associated with it for performing this action". ? I've attached the snapshot of the error as well.
Needs immediate help.

Are you trying to install from a network share/location? Could you try to copy the media to a folder on the c:\ drive.
If the media is an .ISO file, please unzip it using WinRAR and install from that folder on the C:\ drive.
If the above does not help, could you try to download the media again.

An error occured after the installation of SQL Server 2014 Enterprise Edition

As you can see, only the Analysis Services was installed successfully, the rest are failed.
Well, I'm using a 64-bit Windows 8 Single Language, and my ISO file was a 32-bit installer. But why on my other 64-bit PC, it was successfully installed, no such errors like that.

I found the following error on the log file you shared:
Error 1406. Could not write value to key \SOFTWARE.
System error . Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
Please perform the following steps:
1. Open the registry editor.
2. Right-click the HKLM\SOFTWARE key.
3. Select Permissions.
4. Click Advanced.
5. On the Owner tab, select the Administrators group, and then check the "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects"
check box.
6. Click Apply.
7. On the Permissions tab, check the "Replace permission entries on all child objects with entries shown here that
apply to child objects" check box.
8. Click OK.

TFS 2013 TfsReports on SQL Server 2014 - rsAccessDenied Error even though all users are granted ALL Roles

We have granted everyone all roles on our TfsReports site. However, all users (except for 2 who are TFS Admins) still get the following errors when attempting to manage the reports:
The permissions granted to user Domain\UserName are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)
These are the roles we've granted to all "Domain Users": Browser, Content Manager, My Reports, Publisher, Report Builder, Team Foundation Content Manager.
We can't seem to figure out what else might be missing.
Please help.

The issue was reported by one of the Application Support team stating that they have problems with accessing reports in Reporting Services from Team Foundation Server (TFS)
side. By default certain users are part of local domain group having LOCAL ADMINISTRATOR privileges on TFS server, which is by default no issues for those users. Somehow there was a change in the role of certain users where ADMIN access was revoked. However
the users are still part of SYSADMIN group, they were reported the error as follows:
“The
permissions granted to user ''DOMAIN\UserName'' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)”
By default the text clarifies that no permission to access the reports and further we have set of roles defined on the Reporting
Services, as follows:

All of prerequisits are available and i dont have a problem,

There are more detailed logs for the various components. The one of interesting is the one for the engine or possibly the one for full-text.
These logs are extremely verbose, and the errors are rarely crystal clear, but at least give them a try. If you have problems, find a place to upload them (Dropbox, Skrydrive etc), so that we can look.
The closest at hand is that "group" that cannot be found is an AD group.

I tried to install ,deleted and re-installed several times and no help at all.

Trying to install SSDT BI for SQL Server 2014 and VS2013

Windows 8.1, SQL Server 2014.
When running the installer, I get the error before the main window opens, but directly after the first dialog shows. The error message is "The
type initializer for '<module>' threw an exception". I have opened debugview to see if there were any clues as to what is causing this, but it just states the exact same message. Any ideas?

According to your description, you get "The type initializer for '<module>' threw an exception" when installing SSDT-BI. Right?
For this error, it's the issue of the conflict with the .Net versions . Please uninstall all the .NET Framework components and reinstall it. Please refer to links below:

SQL Server 2014 - Columnstore Incorrect Results

Hello,
we are running into a problem with SQL Server 2014 and the columnstore index. We have a partitioned table with about 300 Million records in it. With SQL Server 2012 this has been in use without problems.
Since we upgraded to SQL Server 2014, the exact same queries on exactly the same data return incorrect results. We can only bypass the problem by either dropping the CS Index or adding a maxdop = 1 query hint.
I thought this was an old bug in SQL Server 2012? We have not installed the CU Pack 4 for SQL Server 2014, yet but will it solve the problem (assuming others have faced the same problem)
We are running: Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Enterprise Edition - 12.0.2000.8 (X64) on a 2x6Core Machine

SQL Server 2012 only featured non-clustered columnstore indexes which were separate structures. Have you changed to a clustered columnstore (cs) index in SQL Server 2014? (ie dropped your non-clustered cs, created a cs)
There are a number of fixes that reference columnstore indexes in the current CUs (
CU1,
CU2, CU3,
CU4 ), but none which sound exactly like your problem.
This sounds similar and is fixed in CU1. You should review the CU documents yourself to see if any of them mention a similar problem and then consider applying the CU. You might also try applying them to a test environment, or a temporary Azure
VM for example to see if one of them solves your problem.
If you can create a reliable "repro" of the problem, consider raising a
connect item which is a Microsoft bug report.

SQL Server 2014 with AGs - Over 6 million DONE tasks in dm_os_tasks

We've noticed that our SQL Server deployment has a very high number of tasks in the done state. On our 5 node cluster we have values in the millions on most servers (depending on last restart time), with our highest server returning over 6 million
for the following query:
select count(*)
from sys.dm_os_tasks
where task_state = 'done'
We also track the count daily, and we have never seen the number of tasks decrease. The average growth per day is 50,000. The servers are all running SQL Server 2014 Enterprise Edition CU2 (build 12.0.2370). The servers host between 4 and 8
availability groups each, with 1 to 3 databases per AG.
We're a little concerned that this behaviour is very reminiscent of that noted in the Memory Leak in 2012 KB 2877100), and wondered if anyone else is having a similar experience with 2014 AGs?
We did open a product support case for a separate issue where we mentioned this, but were told that until we could provide a memory dump of a crashing instance we wouldn't be able to investigate if this was actually a leak.
Any advice or discussion that suggests this behaviour is actually 'worked as intended' would be appreciated.

This does indeed look quite reminiscent of 2877100 and this behavior does certainly seem abnormal, particularly if you can establish memory consumption growth over time. I'd recommend providing MSFT additional statistics regarding memory usage via DMVs and
perfmon if you haven't already.
Product support is still definitely the recommended route - and you might try escalating or asking for another engineer. I understand why they are asking for this information, but perhaps ask if they can provide less invasive methods for root cause
analysis. If the answer is still "no" - hopefully you have a prod-like environment where you can reproduce this? And if so, then the memory dump is less of a risk in non-prod.

Manoj - For upgrading the evaluation edition , the only upgrade option will be to upgrade it to Enterprise Edition. There is no downgrade path for it.
Having said this, you can either upgrade to ENT edition or follow these steps:
Take backup of User Databases
Un-install/Remove the existing instance
Install SQL Server 2014 Standard edition and restore your databases over it
Few important considerations:
You can restore user databases to standard edition provided you are not using any enterprise class features such
       Database Partitioning
       Data Compression
       Change Data Capture
       Transparent Data Encryption
To know whether any of the above are enabled use this query:
SELECT * FROM sys.dm_db_persisted_sku_features
