I am an HP employee.

I am the creator of this PDF, and I have access to Acrobat Pro. I am very new to this world of creating PDFs, and I am learning kinda as I go.
I created just a simple fill in type PDF for our service calls. It just allows us to be able to email, or share to our office with drive or dropbox. It eliminates the need for us to bring papers into the office. For some of the new customers we have (or don't trust) We get them to sign our report to protect both parties, then the employees would sign with their digital signature. We have been using our phones up till now to do this, we have realized that it just doesn't cut it for the amount we are using it. We have then purchaced a few windows tablets with keyboards to make life real easy.
Every type of signature works on the document now, on our windows 7 PCs, and our phones. Both Iphone and Android although they use different apps. I just can't seem to make it work on our 2 new windows tablets. I have not assigned any security or anything to the document, as it seems like the phone apps we are using does not recognize adobes security. Unless I am doing it wrong....
Basically my document works on everything but these new tablets, which are running the desktop version of adobe reader xi. I even downloaded the windows 7 version from the website and tried that on the tablet. Even tho it installed it still didn't work...
Where am I going wrong?

  • Troubleshooting a paper jam and print cradle.

    Hi
    The print cradle cannot sometimes move to it's right position in my HP All-in-one Photosmart C3180 printer.
    I have tried several things and also been talking to customer support in Norway and in the U.S. about my isssues with the printer. It seems that my printer has done it's last printing job, but I'm looking for more help if there's another troubleshooting or if people here in the support forum knows about other procedures which can fix my printer.
    * Checklist of what I've done
    1. Resetting the printer accurately.
    2. Uninstall/install all print cartridges.
    3. Looking for any paper jams or barriers which can cause the print cradle to not move. But there are no barriers.
    The cradle sometimes wont get back to it's position only.
    3. Cleaning the printer (doesn't work because of the cradle wont move.
    4. Cleaning the cradle and sensors.

    Hello @AKAJEF ,
    Thank you for joining us on the HP Forums today, hope you enjoy your time with us!
    At this point all I can say is it is a hardware issue and you are looking at replacing the printer.
    Sorry to be the person that had to tell you that but I can't offer any more direction past what you have already done. I would recommend calling phone support back and seeing what options they have for you.
    If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
    HP printers generally have a 1 year warranty from their purchase date, you can verify the warranty using the following link if you would like; warranty check.
    I hope this helps. Sorry that I couldn't be of any help, printers are hard to deal with when it comes to hardware as replacement parts aren't sold separately.

  • Shadows and Highlights, 101

    I've just started working with illustrator and I'm trying to find the best tools for building shadows and highlights in 2d drawings.
    So far, it looks like the best way to approach this is with a series of Opacity masks. Using multiple pieces as overlays to highlight and shade the primary object.
    I also like the effects of smooth color blending, but I can't see how to blend multiple highlights and shadows into a single object with precision.
    As far as the gradient mesh tool goes, it seems to be the wrong effect for 2d designs.
    Can someone give me a leg up?
    Which tools should I focus on mastering to build shadows and highlights quickly and precisely?
    Thanks for your time!
    Ken

    Not to beat up on you, Ken, but why do people come to an online user-to-user forum and expect to accomplish in a few posts what amounts to a textbook on drawing technique?
    You should narrow down the scope of your question a bit by describing what kinds of objects/surfaces (or better, start with a specific example) you want to render.
    You said you are new to Illustrator. Are you also new to vector drawing altogether? That is, it is unclear as to whether you just don't know where to find the specific tools or commands for a drawing principle in AI, or if you don't know the principles to begin with.
    Very generally speaking, quite realistic rendering has been done in all the mainstream vector programs for decades, using little more than path blends and grad fills. Those are still the most practical/expedient mainstay techniques.
    The new vector stuff like gradient meshes are mostly just elaborations on that basic functionality.
    Raster effects can now be used as an alternative where blends have been traditional. But there's really nothing new about combining raster elements in otherwise vector drawings. Raster effects make that more convenient in that they are just rasterization performed on-the-fly. Nor is there anything really new about that. (Canvas was doing it long before AI.)
    3D features can also be exploited for quick shading, but the geometry is fairly limited to, well, geometric primitives. AI has an advantage there in that its 3D feature at least supports basic surface mapping. But the vector result is often impractically complex for elaborate renderings, and it becomes best to either rasterize it, or use it as a temporary guide for tracing using--you guessed it--blends and grads.

    I made notes and highlights in one document and next ime I openned it everything was gone.

    It's a good idea to keep backups. You can make backups from Reader either by emailing a PDF, by copying it to a service like Dropbox or Acrobat.com, or by using iTunes.

    That has never been a feature of Mac OS X, but I believe there was some kind of third-party software that could add that capability.  i don't recall what its name is, but you must have had that installed, and it either isn't installed anymore (perhaps removed as incompatible?) or is not working properly in Mountain Lion.

    I am using CS6 InDesign on a PC using a Windows 7 operating system.
    Due to eyesight issues, I need to have the menu bars of programs in easy-to-read font and picture size.  Specifically, the menu bar across the top (File, Edit, View, etc.), and the menu bar on the left side with the graphic depiction of options.
    In earlier versions of Windows (e.g. XP), whenever I changed the screen resolution on my computer to a lesser resolution in order to show the link icons on my desktop in a larger, more readable size, all the software programs, including yours, appeared on my screen with the menu bars in the larger font size that I needed.
    However, in Windows 7, this is not the case.  Even though I have selected the lowest resolution, making the icons on my desktop extremely large, I cannot read the options across the top menu bar of your program, nor the pull-down menu items that they contain.  I cannot see the graphic depictions of options on the left side of the screen. They are all too small.  How can I make your program increase the size?

    NO way.

    Hi, try this...
    If nothing is showing in the Toolbar at top, click the little gray oval at top right.
    Right click or Control+click on the Toolbar, choose Customize Toolbar, drag the Send button to the Toolbar.

  • The keyboard shotcut to top of page was Control+home and to bottom was control+end. Now I am running Windows 8.1 neither works. Is there a keyboard shortcut?

    Untii now the keyboard shortcut to top of page was control+home and to end was control+end. Now I am running Windows 8.1 and Firefox Beta neither of these work. Neither does control++ or control+0. (They did not work before I upgraded Firefox while I was using W8.1). Is there any keyboard shortcut to get immediately to top and to end?

    Home and End without the Ctrl key should be sufficient to go to the top and bottom of a page.<br />
    You only need the Ctrl key if you are in a text area.
    Do you otherwise have problems with scrolling a page?
    Does the Ctrl key work otherwise?
    Did you try a new profile?
    Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
    If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem

  • I have lost the top box that has the arrows and www address window

    I was playing around with the top tabs and lost the top box that has the arrows and www address box at the top of the screen and the star thing. How do I reinstall this box?

    View > Toolbars - Navigation toolbar
    If the Menu bar is missing (View isn't appearing), hit the '''Alt''' key to show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar, so it has a check-mark.

  • JTextPane and highlighting

    Hello!
    Here's what I'm trying to do: I have a window that needs to display String data which is constantly being pumped in from a background thread. Each String that comes in represents either "sent" or "recieved" data. The customer wants to see sent and recieved data together, but needs a way to differentiate between them. Since the Strings are being concatinated together into a JTextPane, I need to highlight the background of each String with a color that represents whether it is "sent" (red) or "recieved" (blue) data. Should be easy right? Well, not really...
    Before I describe the problem I'm having, here is a small example of my highlighting code for reference:
         private DefaultStyledDocument doc = new DefaultStyledDocument();
         private JTextPane txtTest = new JTextPane(doc);
         private Random random = new Random();
         private void appendLong() throws BadLocationException {
              String str = "00 A9 10 20 20 50 10 39 69 FF F9 00 20 11 99 33 00 6E ";
              int start = doc.getLength();
              doc.insertString(doc.getLength(), str, null);
              int end = doc.getLength();
              txtTest.getHighlighter().addHighlight(start, end, new DefaultHighlighter.DefaultHighlightPainter(randomColor()));
         private Color randomColor() {
              int r = intRand(0, 255);
              int g = intRand(0, 255);
              int b = intRand(0, 255);
              return new Color(r, g, b);
         private int intRand(int low, int hi) {
              return random.nextInt(hi - low + 1) + low;
         }As you can see, what I'm trying to do is append a String to the JTextPane and highlight the new String with a random color (for testing). But this code doesn't work as expected. The first String works great, but every subsequent String I append seems to inherit the same highlight color as the first one. So with this code the entire document contents will be highlighted with the same color.
    I can fix this problem by changing the insert line to this:
    doc.insertString(doc.getLength()+1, str, null);With that change in place, every new String gets its own color and it all works great - except that now there's a newline character at the beginning of the document which creates a blank line at the top of the JTextPane and makes it look like I didn't process some of the incomming data.
    I've tried in veign to hack that newline character away. For example:
              if (doc.getLength() == 0) {
                   doc.insertString(doc.getLength(), str, null);
              } else {
                   doc.insertString(doc.getLength()+1, str, null);
              } But that causes the 2nd String to begin on a whole new line, instead of continuing on the first line like it should. All the subsequent appends work good though.
    I've also tried:
    txtTest.setText(txtTest.getText()+str);That makes all the text line up correctly, but then all the previous highlighting is lost. The only String that's ever highlighted is the last one.
    I'm getting close to submitting a bug report on this, but I should see if anyone here can help first. Any ideas are much appreciated!

    It may work but it is nowhere near the correct
    solution.It seems to me the "correct" solution would be for Sun to fix the issue, because it seems they are secretly inserting a newline character into my Document. Here's a compilable program that shows what I mean:
    import java.awt.BorderLayout;
    import java.awt.Color;
    import java.awt.EventQueue;
    import java.awt.event.ActionEvent;
    import java.awt.event.ActionListener;
    import java.awt.event.WindowAdapter;
    import java.awt.event.WindowEvent;
    import java.util.Random;
    import javax.swing.JButton;
    import javax.swing.JFrame;
    import javax.swing.JScrollPane;
    import javax.swing.JTextPane;
    import javax.swing.text.BadLocationException;
    import javax.swing.text.DefaultHighlighter;
    import javax.swing.text.DefaultStyledDocument;
    public class TestFrame extends JFrame {
         private JButton btnAppend = new JButton("Append");
         private DefaultStyledDocument doc = new DefaultStyledDocument();
         private JTextPane txtPane = new JTextPane(doc);
         private Random random = new Random();
         public TestFrame() {
              setSize(640, 480);
              setLocationRelativeTo(null);
              addWindowListener(new WindowAdapter() {
                   public void windowClosing(WindowEvent e) {
                        dispose();
              getContentPane().add(new JScrollPane(txtPane), BorderLayout.CENTER);
              getContentPane().add(btnAppend, BorderLayout.SOUTH);
              btnAppend.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
                   public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
                        doBtnAppend();
         private void doBtnAppend() {
              try {
                   String str = "00 A9 10 20 20 50 10 39 69 FF F9 00 20 11 99 33 00 6E ";
                   int start = doc.getLength();
                    * This line causes all highlights to have the same color,
                    * but the text correctly starts on the first line.
                   doc.insertString(doc.getLength(), str, null);
                    * This line causes all highlights to have the correct
                    * (different) colors, but the text incorrectly starts
                    * on the 2nd line.
    //               doc.insertString(doc.getLength()+1, str, null);
                    * This if/else solution causes the 2nd appended text to
                    * incorrectly start on the 2nd line, instead of being
                    * concatinated with the existing text on the first line.
                    * (a newline character is somehow inserted after the first
                    * line)
    //               if (doc.getLength() == 0) {
    //                    doc.insertString(doc.getLength(), str, null);
    //               } else {
    //                    doc.insertString(doc.getLength()+1, str, null);
                   int end = doc.getLength();
                   txtPane.getHighlighter().addHighlight(start, end, new DefaultHighlighter.DefaultHighlightPainter(randomColor()));
              } catch (BadLocationException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              EventQueue.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
                   public void run() {
                        new TestFrame().setVisible(true);
         private Color randomColor() { return new Color(intRand(0, 255), intRand(0, 255), intRand(0, 255)); }
         private int intRand(int low, int high) { return random.nextInt(high - low + 1) + low; }
    }Try each of the document insert lines in the doBtnAppend method and watch what it does. (comment out the other 2 of course)
    It wastes resources and is inefficient. A lot of work
    goes on behind the scenes to create and populate a
    Document.I tracked the start and end times in a thread loop to benchmark it, and most of the time the difference is 0 ms. When the document gets to about 7000 characters I start seeing delays on the order of 60 ms, but I'm stripping off text from the beginning to limit the max size to 10000. It might be worse on slower computers, but without a "correct" and working solution it's the best I can come up with. =)
