You probably won't like my suggestions.
To discover if you have a hardware failure, restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. If you failed to burn recovery discs, you can obtain them from Toshiba.
       Order Toshiba Recovery Media
For instructions, see the section Restoring from recovery DVDs/media, which begins on p. 73 of the User's Guide.

If the video is okay, upgrade to Windows 8 by carefully following the instructions here.

  • Windows user having trouble reading attachments since 10.4.4

Has anyone else experienced problems sending attachments (specifically Word docs) to Windows users? I have experienced this only since the latest batch of updates. I have checked my settings and 'Windows friendly' is the default for mail. I have also sent the docs I have had trouble with to an old mac and this works fine which leads me to think its 10.4.4 as the cause?
    Help!!!!!!!!!!!

As I have emailed, in part:
Well, this Mac friend is not all right! Please tell me the exact method of creating this document, and the version of Word being used. It is not recognized as a valid format by any of my applications that should open it. Also, tell me how you are connected to the internet.
    and
Placing the cursor over the attachment, reports it to be of the type octet stream. This is most often seen when an exchange server, or some other MS program is involved, and working improperly.
Also, try switching off windows friendly setting and sending to me again. Does the document open properly when you open the message sent to me in the Sent mailbox?
Try sending me a JPEG, or other type of attachment -- this might help to check for a transmission error. This does not appear to be simply a Mail problem.

  • Windows 7 Install trouble

Background: I just installed four new WD Velociraptor 1TB drives, on a four-year old ASUS P6T motherboard. The board has an Intel ICH10R SATA/RAID controller.
After having configured my planned RAID 10 array with all four drives, I can not now install Windows 7. Consistently, after completing about 90% of the installation process, I get the error, "Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this
    computer's hardware."
I have tried using the most current RAID drivers from Intel, as well as those initially supplied with my motherboard. I have tried the "MSOOBE" workaround. I have tried changing the RAID stripe size from 4KB to 64B and back. I have tried everything
I can think of, and this issue arises every single time.
    Please help?

OK, I've gone through the install process several more times.
First, as before, installing to a Raid 10 array, I get the same "Windows setup cannot could not configure Windows...". At this point, I went through the MSOOBE process again, which forced a completion. However, Windows isn't all there. I can't run any updates,
for example, or install Microsoft Security Essentials. Task Manager indicates that virtually all of the services are "stopped" and I am unable to restart them. MS's troubleshoot programs are absolutely no help.
Second, I attempted installing to a Raid 0 array, which the BIOS told me was not bootable.
Third, I attempted to install to one (did this once successfully for each) of four independent un-Raid-ed disks. These installs seemed to work perfectly.
Finally, I attempted once again to install to a RAID 10 array, resulting in the same "could not configure" nonsense as before.
I ran the diskpart program, but it did not shed any light on the issue. There is no indication whether my disks are GPT or otherwise.
I have no idea what to do next. Please help?

  • Windows XP & IE6, trouble refreshing

    Hi,
I am using CodeGuide 3.01 to write Swing applets.
But after I have written, compiled and saved my Applet I run in some trouble. Maybe someone can help.
I load the HTML file (wich has the reference to the Applet) into IE6 and everything goes fine.
After I have changed, compiled, saved my Applet again and I have pressed the refresh button in IE6 the page doesn't get refreshed properly. Instead IE6 loads the old Applet again.
When I close and reopen IE6 everything works fine.
Has someone encountered this or if you think I'm doing something wrong, please reply.
    Greetings Ronald.

    Ronald,
I've experienced the same problem with IE 5.5 & 6.0.
I believe that MS is loads the applet into memory and does not refresh the code when you "refresh" or click on the refresh icon. Therefore, you are on the right track; you must exit the browser and rerun it to get your new version of the applett to load.
    Regards Randy
PS I noticed this behavior in MS Front Page also.

  • Running Windows XP. Trouble downloading 4.0. Download ended abruptly with 2.5 minutes to go and at 11.5 MBs. ?? Restarted, but nothing new.

Nothing else to tell. Just can't download 4.0. Goes along fine to the very end, stops abruptly before completing. I expected to see a FireFox screen indicating a complete download and instructing a restart, but just got the little window at the bottom of the screen that said all downloads were complete. Nothing new after restart.

  • Windows Bootcamp Drivers Trouble

My Windows Vista Drivers that I got for my MacBook Pro from the installation disk have bad audio drivers. The sound on the speakers is too low, and the microphone won't even work. When I talk into the microphone while under Sound Properties in the Recording tab, it shows that the microphone is picking up sound. However, in Ventrilo, and Windows Sound Recorder, there is no sound from my microphone.
I'm using Bootcamp 2.1. When will this problem be fixed? Will Apple release a new bootcamp version to fix this problem?? This is very important to me.
If anyone has fixed this problem, please tell me how you did it.
BTW, the audio device is called "Cirrus Logic CS4206A (AB75)"

    There is a crash message.
Drivers. AppleHFS is one cultprit. RAM. Graphic card. The fact that Mac Pro fans dont' operate or respond properly to thermal changes.  Also, AV software. Your best would be MS Security Essentials
Try monitoring the system and temps with AIDA64.

  • Jre-1_5_0_04-windows-amd64 - INSTALLATION TROUBLES.

    Dear Sir / Madam
    I'm using AMD64 (Athlon 64 - Skt.939) based PC runnig Windows XP Professional x64 Edition (Build 3790 - SP1 v.1433).
I'm trying to install "jre-1_5_0_04-windows-amd64.exe" on my PC but wahterver I try to install either 64 or 32bit versions, Windows Installer crashes.....Windows closes "Installer" due to "security reasons"...I've tried to exclude Windows Installer application from DEP (data execution prevent) list but NOWAY! It always crashes the same!
Any idea or suggestions? Please help me! Thanx!

I am having a similar problem. I just bought a brand
new laptop with an AMD 64 Athlon proccessor running
Window XP Home Edition (with all the latest serve
packs fixes etc...). When I try to install I get a
message that says "The installation package is not
supported by the processor type. Contant your product
    vendor".
I wonder if this is common problem !!!I GUESS YOU ARE USING: "jre-1_5_0_04-windows-i586.exe"
NOTE: If ur so plz consider that (see: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/system-configurations.html):
"jre-1_5_0_04-windows-i586.exe" only supports Intel processors (IA-32) based PC running WINDOWS XP Pro or Home Edition (they're both 32bit Operative Systems).
"jre-1_5_0_04-windows-i586.exe" also supports AMD64 processor based PC but only running WINDOWS 2003 SERVER 32-bit mode (yes...you can install and use that Server Operative System on either 32-bit or 64-bit mode like most of larger Server Operative Systems...but this is another "tale"...).
As u use Windows XP Home Ed. (that's a 32-bit O.S...also) on a PC fitting a 64-bit CAPABLE CPU (AMD64) I guess you should GREATLY CONSIDER TO "UPGRADE" (re-install) a "brand new" Windows XP PRO 64bit Ed. and after that u'll be able (maybe you'll need to use a little workaround.....see:XXXXXX ) to use "jre-1_5_0_04-windows-amd64"
    P.S.
    1) Should you decide to upgrade to Win Xp Pro 64-bit Ed. consider u'll not be able (at least for the moment...) to let your webcam and scanner (and maybe other peripherals...) work, due to an "un-availability" of 64-bit driver supporting thoose "stuffs"!!!!!
    2) Should you NOT DESIRE to upgrade ur Operative System, (I guess) you'll have to "wait patiently" a little bit more till Sun 'll release a version of JRE or JDK suitable for your "case" (64 bit CPU + 32 bit Operative System)....hopefully :)

  • Windows Media Player trouble

When I download windows media player it downloads fine and it goes to my desktop, but it is a picture of a blank piece of paper with the top right corner folded. When I try to open it, it opens with script edit and I tried to change it, but no matter what I pick it will not open. What do I have to open windows media player with to download it? Also, I don't know that much about computers so if you could make it simple that would be great.

    Hi, Welcome to Apple Discussions.
WMP isn't supported anymore for Mac OSX, see ..
"On January 12, 2006 Microsoft announced it had ceased development of Windows Media Player for Mac.[4] Microsoft now distributes a third-party plugin called WMV Player (produced and maintained by Flip4Mac) which allows some forms of Windows Media to be played within Apple's QuickTime player and other QuickTime-aware applications.[5] Mac users can also use the free software media player VLC, which is also able to play WMV-3 / WMV-9 / VC-1 Windows Media files"
    Use Flip4Mac and VLC instead .. http://www.flip4mac.com/ and http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
    Regards,
    Robert.

  • The most current Itunes on Windows 7 has trouble playing movies redownloaded from the web.

My movies video pauses while the audio continues.  After a small length of time the video fast forwards till it catches up with the audio.  I also have a line like the old VHS cross once in a while.  Anyone familiar with this?

See Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates. It may pay to uninstalll all Apple components and delete the folders set out in the second box before reinstalling. In principle you ought not need to reinstall QuickTime.

  • Got through the first stage of windows installation- then trouble!

    Hi everyone!
I formated the partition and it seemed to install windows. The quote below is an excerpt from the boot camp manual
    'Setting Up Windows
After you install the Windows software, *your computer automatically restarts using*
Windows. Use the Windows setup screens to configure Windows. '
My computer restarts but does not go into windows, it goes through the windows install process again as if I hadn't already installed it! I have to restart by pulling out the battery, then turning it back on and then hitting my 'eject' button manically before my computer starts the windows install process again.
Anyone had similar problems or solutions?
The new windows file has appeare

Just wait about 10 seconds and Windows should boot from the hard drive. It will then come up into a dialog that allows you to finish the install.

  • Windows support software trouble

I'm trying to install windows 8.1 on my late 2013 macbook pro. I have the 8.1 iso file and have tried using bootcamp.
I get an error when trying to download the windows support software and I can't install windows without this software apparently..
I tried downloading the support software manually from apples website but now I don't know what to do with it. My macbook only has one usb drive and this is being used for the bootable version of the windows iso...
    Any help is appreciated!

Install Windows first then whilst booted in to Windows plug in your USB with the support software on it.
It may autostart but if not navigate to the Bootcamp folder and double-click on the setup.exe file in that folder.

  • Emailing Photos from iPhoto some windows users have trouble with them

Some of my friends using windows computers either cannot see the iphoto attachments or cannot save them. Is there a setting in iPhoto that I can change to make sending the photos more windows friendly. The only way I have found to do this is to export the photo and then attach it, which is a lot of work

select the photo(s) and click mail - when Apple mail opens and completes composing the e-mail go to the format menu and make "plain text" -- of in the Mail preferences set plain test as the default

  • Windows 7 Upgrade, trouble locating original song files.

I just upgraded to Windows 7, I wiped my computer and put all my music files on an external hard drive. I got Windows 7 on fine and then put all my music files back on my computer. Every time I attempt to play a song I can't because "the original file can't be found" and that little exclamation point comes up. I deleted all my song right out of iTunes and then drug all the files into iTunes and that worked for about a day. Now the error message is back. Any advice?

Is your exHD still plugged in? I think the latest version of ituens for windows have the preferecnes setting to NOT copy files to the itunes folder when adding to the itunes library.
