Windows 8.1 update Developer Preview from Microso...

If i update Windows 8.1 update for Nokia Lumia 925 from  Developer whether it affects the warranty of the device.
If any problems whether  nokia will support us. I have device having warranty for another 9 months.
If i update it now whether we will get offical stable release once it is rolled out
Solved!
Go to Solution.

The word from Microsoft is that it may void your warranty so there is no guarantee as to whether it will or won't, it is entirely at your own risk. Nokia says it will likely void your warranty but again that isn't confirmation that it will void the warranty. I have yet to see a case of warranty service being refused on a device running a developer preview.
If you update now you will be updated to the official consumer release and the Nokia Cyan update, probably in June.

  • Updating developer preview still no satisfaction

I have updated software version of developer preview to 8.10.12382.878 after that while playing videos in browser still screen is getting black, music player still sucks 8.0 player was much better however hd videos are not lagging specially shows when i download and transfer to phone and play them they are now working fine but still there are alot of improvements to be made. Still while playing games specially small games like subway surfer they are closing automatically my device is Lumia 525 now i am frustrated what to do...

Music app is now a stand alone app in wp8.1. It will get update right from the store, not from system update.

  • Windows 8.1 Update 1 (Spring update KB2919355) - User Profile Service failed the sign-in

After installing Windows 8.1 Update 1 (Spring update KB2919355), our enterprise  Windows 8.1 image began getting User Profile Service failed the sign-in. Uninstalling the update fixes the issue. The update somehow modifies the default user
profile causing write access issues which is evident in the event viewer.
    Things I tried:
    1) Re-applying parent permissions to Default profile folder
    2) Disable CopyProfile before sysprep
    3) Creating a new image with Windows 8.1 Update 1 ISO from Microsoft
None of them seem to work. I believe update 2919355 will be needed to continue getting future Windows 8.1 update. I might try looking at the specific files that the User Profile Service is complaining about but it seems to be random.
    Anyone else experience this?

"Place your rig specifics into your signature like I have, makes it 100x easier to understand!"
I should have included this. It does it on all of our machine builds (we have a few) including VMs.
    "try this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2919355
    if
a fresh manual install does not work use
    the tools here"
Did all of this already at the request of MS and also ran a trace utility they sent me and submitted the results. The Trace revealed nothing remarkable to the analysts that gave any indication of what is causing this.
MS has acknowledged that there is a problem and for me it has to be an enterprise fix, not an individual run around to every computer. I  have tried removing everything non-Microsoft and will try removing APP-V 5. If it works I will let them know, but
we can't operate the enterprise without APP-V so this wouldn't be a solution. The trouble is that it is so random that we thought we had it fixed by removing AV and were going to start looking in that direction and it turned out that if you just kept hammering
it with the logins that it would still manifest, as it has done with everything I have tried so far.

maybe MS can not find witch times

  • How do you update to Yosemite final from developer preview GM 3?

I am still on developer preview GM 3 I believe, cause I am not getting any update for 10.10.1 from the app store, and my About this Mac shows 10.90. I downloaded the final version in app store, but it's not letting me install it and it says "This copy of the “Install OS X” application is too old to be opened on this version of OS X."
Any help would be appreciate it. I want to be on the latest yosemite update.
    Thanks.

I found  solution. on developer preview, i had to run a program MATLAB so i followed a youtube tutorial and had to change serviceversion.plist. Thus it had a version 10.90 but it should be 10.10. I changed it back to 10.10 and its installing now. i totally forgot about this, and i thought 10.90 meant beta version!
hope it maybe helps others who had to run MATLAB on yosemite beta..

  • Windows 8.1 apps downloaded during developer preview install in Chinese on RTM (MS requsted I post this here for script to fix this)

    Hello
Ever since updating to the RTM version of Windows 8.1 on every PC I have updated and signed into using my Microsoft account whenever I try to install any 8.1 app I installed onto the developer preview version it will always install in Chinese which makes
using the app impossible for me.
This happens on all PCs I have updated/used including:
    Surface RT (Windows 8.1 RT)
    Surface 2 (Windows 8.1 RT)
Dell OptiPlex 990 (Windows 8.1 Pro)
Dell OptiPlex 790 (Windows 8.1 Pro)
Sony Tap 20" (Windows 8.1 Pro)
The language settings of the Microsoft store and all the computers are all set to UK English and as soon as I do a fresh install of the UK version of Windows 8.1 and sign into my Microsoft account then certain apps will always install in Chinese (when in
the store it says you already own this app and can install it on this PC - when I do it is in Chinese. When the app has not been installed before or was not installed when I had the developer preview then it will install in English).
This has been driving me mad for months and I previously posted this question back in October in the Office 2013 forums as I first noticed the issue with the OneNote app but it was never resolved:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/448670ae-4494-4a55-8cee-d9f1c9873db7/onenote-windows-81-app-changed-to-chinese-and-cannot-work-out-how-to-change-to-english?forum=officeitpro#448670ae-4494-4a55-8cee-d9f1c9873db7
I then posted it a few days ago here:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-windows_store/windows-81-apps-downloaded-during-developer/5dcd0df7-edfe-420e-8737-6a48922969e1
I have now been asked by a Microsoft Support engineer to post the question here as they said a script can be provided which I can use to fix this.
I think I just need to clear the fact that I have previously installed these apps as maybe some bug in the developer preview set them to Chinese and it seems to remember this setting. I cannot understand any Chinese so this makes these apps unusable.
The only other option I can think of is to create a new Microsoft account but I would rather not have to do this.
Some of the apps affected include the OneNote app and the HP scanner app. I have uninstalled most others and found alternatives.
    Thanks
    Robin

    Hello jrv
I managed to run the script but cannot really see how it is any different to uninstalling the apps in the normal way except for the fact that you can uninstall multiple apps at once.
This exact same problem happens on a surface 1, a surface 2 and multiple machines running either Pro or Enterprise. It is not one machine but every machine running 8.1.
I have not upgraded from the Developer Preview version on any of my machines and always do a fresh install but what I am saying is that I did use the same Microsoft account during that time and it seems to have some record of the apps I installed at that
time and thinks I want them installed now in Chinese.
The only thing in common on the 7 machines I have tried (including the 2 surfaces) is that I have joined them to my Microsoft account and the problem seems to be with the Microsoft account and not with all the machines.
To replicate this I can go to any Windows 8.1 machine and join it to my Microsoft account and this will put certain apps from the store into Chinese and I can find no way to stop this. I am pretty confident that the issue is with the Microsoft account or
a setting that is synchronising from there.
The workaround is to sign into a different Microsoft account and this installs them correctly on the same machine.
I would appreciate any help with clearing out my history of installed apps without having to create a new Microsoft account.
    Thanks
    Robin

  • JDeveloper Developer Preview Updates - An Open Letter

I recently was scanning through this forum and saw a thread on updates to the preview edition. In this thread, an Oracle spokesperson said that the developer preview goes through almost as rigorous a process as a production release, therfore; previews are updated infrequently. Most of the comments on thread indicate that people want more, not fewer, updates. Indeed, if I cared about the stability of the product, I would be running 9.x of JDeveloper. NO. Want I want to do is receive FREQUENT updates to the preview and be able to provide immediate feedback. It also seems that Oracle should LISTEN to their customers. While the product manager may have legitimate reasons for thinking fewer updates is better, the customers seem to be saying that the PM is wrong. We all want the same thing, JDeveloper to be the best Jave IDE available, period. I can hear in my head the polite response from Oracle justifying infrequent updates. But the justification isn;t necessary. It was clear to me that people are getting frustrated with the current version and have begun moving on. In that case it wion't matter how good the next Jdeveloper is because nobody will see it. They will al be using Eclipse or Idea.
    Sincerely, Keith Williams

I respectfully remind you that the feature footprint of the entire JDeveloper 10.1.3 product is really quite massive, compared to the open source projects you're likely thinking about. We're talking about much more than a core IDE that lets you code and debug. The full JDeveloper product is on the order of magnitude of a Visual Studio Enterprise Architect Edition -- with, I'd argue, even more functionality than that has -- in a product that is now free. We surely have tons of automated regressions tests, automated UI interaction testing, and performance testing in all the various layers of the product, but the number of different use cases to test when you begin mixing and matching the various:
-- view-layer technologies we support (JSP, JSF, Swing, Mobile clients)
-- controller-layer technologies we support (Struts, JSF Navigation Cases)
-- business tier-layer technologies we support (JavaBeans, EJB 2.0, EJB 2.1, EJB 3.0, TopLink, WebServices, XML, ADF Business Components, etc)
-- J2EE application servers that we support
-- database servers that we support
-- open source technologies we provide integrated support for (JUnit, Ant, XDoclet, CVS)
-- platforms we test running on (Windows, Linux, Mac)
Makes for a meaty set of use cases that all need to be verified before we're satisfied with the quality.
When you release something that delivers less end-to-end functionality or doesn't support the same matrix of different technology and server configurations, there's obviously less to test.
There is currently no other development environment on the market (open source or otherwise, J2EE or .NET) that delivers the same features-to-price ratio that we do, and with the 10.1.3 release, we're raising that bar an order of magnitude higher.
We hope you'll be impressed with the results, despite its extended "gestation" period. We're as excited to get an early access release into your hands as hopefully you will be to give it a spin and give us feedback on.

  • HOW DO I UNINSTALL WINDOWS 8.1 PREVIEW FROM MACBOOK PRO (SNOW LEOPARD)... CAN NOT FIND README FILE FOR WINDOWS PREVIEW. PLEASE HELP

how can i uninstall windows 8.1 preview from my macbook pro?? ive looked for over an hour for the readme file for the windows 8.1 preview and have had no luck. ive done almost everything i can think of at the moment and nothing is working. somebody please help, thanks

Windows 8.1 Preview cannot be uninstalled. However, if what you want is to remove Windows completely, start up in OS X, open Boot Camp Assistant (in /Applications/Utilities) and follow the steps to remove the Windows partition.
If what you want is to install the final Windows 8.1 version, read this Microsoft support article > http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/update-from-preview

  • How to go from Developer Preview to Official Lion OS X Release?

    Hello,
Since its release, i've been playing with several Developer Previews of OS X Lion on my Macbook Pro. Then, Lion got out, in its official release. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to upgrade to it right at that time. I had a lot of work to do, and I've been using all this time a DP version. Now that I have some spare time, I want to upgrade to 10.7.2, and actually buy the Lion OS X from AppStore.
But surprisingly enough, AppStore says I allready have Lion on my Mac. Even when I open AppStore and holding down the Option key, I see the price of Lion, I clik on it, but it says a newer version seems to allready be present on my Mac. Wich is false, cause I sopped updating somewhere around 10.7.0, on a DP version.
Even if I modify the "SystemVersion.plist" file, I still can't buy the official Lion.
And as you might know, iCloud comes only with the 10.7.2 version of Lion. And I would realy like to take advantage of it as I've always been a MobileMe customer.
Does anyone have an idea of how to get that update and how to pay for Lion?
    Thnak you in advance!

In addition to the other suggestions, you cannot download any version of Lion as long as you have any version installed (the background store agent scans not only your internal, but any externals that are attached and will not allow a download if it finds any trace of Lion). Since you chose not to heed the notices to update your versions for that many months (if you were/are on an actual pre-release version from Apple), there is only one solution: you must wipe your hard drive, reinstall Snow Leopard, and then go back to MAS and purchase Lion legally. And, to reiterate, you should not be asking these questions here.

  • Updating Output Preview window

Hello. I have a problem with output preview window. I found the thread with the same question: How to update Output Preview window? . But there are no answers. May be anybody can answer now.
    Thank you.

I sent "PDPageNotifyContentsDidChange" notification. It helps to show new element with this colorant in document, but not in OP window.
It is very srange behavior. If you open OP window after adding colorant, OP window show it. If change Simulation Profile from CMYK to RGB (or RGB to CMYK or GS ets.) new colorant will appeared. Workaround: Maybe it posible to change this profile programmatically?
If you open OP window then change in preferences default working space and then open OP window again Simulation Profile won't be changed.

  • MacBook 7,1 CS4206a audio driver crashes on Windows 8 Developer Preview

    I'm experiencing crash on about every 20minutes on Windows 8 Developer Preview.(MacBook 7,1 late 2010 model)(BootCamp 4.0.0 installed)
It seems that Built-In audio driver is the one that causes the problem.
I disabled CS4206a driver in Driver Manager to prevent that.
But I really want my sounds back.
I've also tried CS4207driver from Cirrus Logic, and a old driver.
but none seems to be helping.
    Any advice??

Thank you all for the replies. Unfortunatly, I found that audio driver is not the problem.
After disablling, removing the audio driver from the system32/drivers, the time til to get crash has indeed EXTENDED, but it still crashes..
misalaram, thank you for the idea. Formatted windows 8 and installed JUST the graphics card driver directly from the nvidia. Still crashes..
I think it is sort of like kernel panic. Which microsoft has said that they implemented multi-tasking capable kernel. I think somthing is unstable..

  • How to use trackpad gestures with Windows 8 Developer Preview?

I have installed a Windows 8 Developer Preview on my MacBook via BootCamp Assistant. I found that it isn't support the trackpad gestures! (ex: two-fingers tap to right-click)
So how can I use the trackpad gestures with Windows 8?
    Thank you for all reply.

The BootCamp drivers that you can download and burn to a disc via the Boot Camp application in Mac OS can be installed in Windows 8 (run setup.exe from the disc while in Windows 8, preferably by right-clicking and choosing "Run as Administrator") and will allow you to use all of the current features of the touchpad (including two finger clicking/tapping).  Once you have installed the drivers as described above, you can then click on the arrow in the System Tray and right-click on the black triangle that is for the BootCamp control panel. In those settings you can change how the touchpad responds to your taps, clicks, etc.

  • ITunes On Windows 8 Developer Preview Help

I Got this off of the Windows Developer Preview Forums
Since this is a preview of the operatingsystem, iTunes may not work with the Windows Developer Preview.
Try these steps, however when you start the sync don't have the deviceplugged in yet.
    1) Close iTunes
    2) Go to Services
    3) Stop "Apple Mobile Device" service
    4) Plug device in, wait for the 1 or 2 chimes
    5) Start "Apple Mobile Device"
    6) Open iTunes
    7) When Sync you might get an "Unable to receive data from syncservices", but it should sync.
You might also check in the Apple iTunes forums to see if anyone has come upwith a suggestion.

  • Sofaware Update: Mavericks Developer Preview Recovery Update 1.0 on Mavericks 10.9.1

Software Update suddenly wan't to install: Mavericks Developer Preview Recovery Update 1.0 into my Mavericks OS X 10.9.1.
This seems odd as Developer Preview is a pre beta version, and I run the final version.
Can anyone enlighten me on this?
It must be said that I just Restored my latest(from yesterday) time machine backup to a new HD, as the old HD broke down. And I don't know if there is something with the Recovery Partition which don't get restored properly in the restore process.
But the analogy stll don't make much sense: To install Developer Preview software into a final version of an OS, so I have chosen not to install it for now.
    Thanks...

Just over a week ago I upgraded from 10.8 to 10.9. A few days after that my hard drive died, so I replaced it with another one and did a recovery from Time Machine. It all went fine.
Then AppStore told me I had an update of Mavericks Developer Preview Recovery Update 1.0. Now at this point alarm bells were ringing as I knew I had a prod OS, not a developer preview. So I logged a call with Apple (as as far as I was concerned their 10.9 upgrade broke my Mac, and even though it was free, I'm still entitled for support for a few days for a 'purchased' product).
I told them of this problem and they were a bit surprised. They asked me to log out/in of AppStore and also to remove ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist but that didn't work either. So for the last resort they asked me to re-install the OS over the top of itself via the recovery utility (AppleKey + R on boot), as I have an old MacPro I can't do the recover from Internet option). I said I'd go away and do that as I'd need to back everything up first.
So a few days later I'm ready and go to the recovery utility. And it asks if I'd like to (re-)install 10.8 Mountain Lion! At this point I know something is very wrong. So I download 10.9 again and re-install it. Everything looks OK. I then go into the recovery util and it asks if I'd like to (re-)install 10.9 Mavericks, which looks fine. And at this point AppStore no longer thinks I need a dev update. So all is well.
I can only think that when I first upgraded to 10.9 my hard drive wasn't very well and so the recovery partition (or whatever) didn't get written properly. So after I did my first recovery (with new hard drive) AppStore saw that the recovery partition was 10.8 but I was running 10.9 and concluded that I was somehow running a dev preview and offered to upgrade the offending item.
Hope this helps, and if you're TL;DR then re-install 10.9!
