Windows 8.1 Update Failure code: 0xC1900101 - 0x20020017

Hello, I have an HP Pavilion g6. I can't update to windows 8.1 after download it by windows store, it reboot pc and after that give me this error: 0xC1900101 - 0x20020017. Anyone seeing this issue, and if so, know of the solution?Thanks

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion g6 and trying to update to Windows 8.1. Looking into this I have found that it is a driver issue usually associated with USB devices. Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues. Plug the power adapter directly into a functioning wall outlet. Do not plug it into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue.Before updating did you make sure your system was up to date with Windows.   • HP Pavilion dv6 Windows 10 upgrade from Windows 7 Home Prem; Error code 0xC1900101

    Have been trying to upgrade to Windows 10 (from Windows 7 Home Prem 64 bit). However, the upgrade fails showing an error code 0xC1900101. Tried uninstalling MCafee Antivirus and upgrading, but that fails too. Also, checked and installed all 'other' available system updates and tried. But no luck.During the installation process, the failure occurs when the system has finished copying and is in the process of installing drivers (that is, after the second restart). I have noticed that the 'installing drivers' process was also almost 90% complete. Once the second restart process begins, the system hangs and processor keeps running (and so does the cooling fan, at its highest speed). Earlier, had heating problems which used to hibernate my system during this process, but have fixed that now. And I get this new error message (in the subject above).Guess, the issue occurs when the system is trying to install drivers or when it is trying to upgrade its configuration. Need help!

    I dunno if this is related but I had an error as well during the upgrade on an HP DV5. You can find more information on the error if you analyze the dump file (.dmp) found in the Windows.BT folder right after the upgrade fails. You can use a utility like BlueScreenView. In my case, the upgrade crashed at around 75% of the total process (when configuring settings). Analyzing the dump file showed that the error was caused by a driver named 000.fcl, related to Cyberlink and their DVD player. Turns out this is used in the HP QuickPlay feature. After removing HP Quick Play, the upgrade proceeded as normal. Hope it helps anyone with a similar problem !

    I have brand new Acer Aspire Laptop installed with windows 8
    From 1 Feb 2014 , I am trying to install Windows 8.1 update from windows store. I tried to install update more than 15 times but still stuck with this error code 0x80004005.
    1. I simply tried to install couple of times
    2. I disabled all protection softwares stuck with same
    3. I disable all stratup programs but same
    4. I installed fresh windows again updated with all updates from Microsoft and then tried to install Windows 8.1 update from windows store but same error

    Regarding current situation, please follow these steps to check the issue:
    1. Please run WSRESET.EXE to clear store catch.
    2. If there is any proxy settings in IE and Metro app, please remove it.
    3. Make sure the Windows Firewall is turned on and remove other security applications.
    4. If you use wireless connection, please change to wired network connection.
    5. Register following dll files by typing following command in Run (Windows key + R):
    regsvr32 Softpub.dll
    regsvr32 Wintrust.dll
    regsvr32 Initpki.dll
    Then, let’s try to install Windows 8.1 again.
    If the issue still persists, upload the latest setuperr.log for research.

    Yesterday I built my first computer and I installed Windows 8.1 on it, everything was running perfectly fine until today. This morning I had an update notification and I installed it, about half way through the update an error occurred and it said it couldn't
    complete the update and it was undoing the changes. I left it on that screen for about an hour and nothing happened. I tried finding what the update was, so I went to recently installed updates, and there was about 40 of them from just today. Whenever I tried
    to uninstall any of the updates, it said error, preventing me from deleting any of the updates. I was wondering if anyone could help me try to uninstall/re-install this update.

    The update failure might be caused by a variety of reasons such as connection issues, incomplete Components and firewall. For troubleshooting, specific error code of the failure update will be helpful.
    You also could find installation failure events and error code in log files, such as WindowsUpdate.log (C:\Windows\ WindowsUpdate.log) and CBS.log(C:\windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log). Here you first want to search for “error” in your logs. This will search for
    Error entries. Focus on the day the installation attempt occurred. Refer to your time line of update log, find what error happened. Of course you could post your log content and we’d like to give it a look.
    How to collect the specific error code of failure update:
    We can do this by viewing your update history.
    1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen (or, if you're using a mouse, pointing to the lower-right corner of the screen and moving the mouse pointer up), and tap or click Settings.
    2. Tap or click Change PC settings, and then Update and recovery.
    3. Tap or click View your update history.
    View failed update error code.

  • Windows 8.1 update failure Mac Mini 2012

    I currently have installed Windows 8 from a Winclone backup which was created from the a clean install complete with updates from the Windows 8 Installation disk on a Mac Mini late 2012 and I'm having issues updating to 8.1. When trying to install from store, it reboots to the blue screen with error 0xc000000e which on occasions I have had to do a hard reset from as the wireless keyboard won't work, whereas other occasions it will allow me to start in another system, reverting to Windows 8.
    I've tried to use the upgrade setup which won't accept my product code and create a Win 8.1 usb by running the Wn 8 upgrade setup, exiting it after entering the product code then running the 8..1 setup which then creates the usb but during setup it won't accept my product code either which I can see from other users is not possible to use an upgrade version anyway.
    How do I go about installing 8.1 from here? Preferably I would like to update the  current Winclone backup I'm using instead of having to do another fresh install, if anyone  can help I'm open to suggestions.

    Do you have installed Paragon HFS+ for Windows?
    Uninstall it and retry the update....
    It worked for me!

    hello everybody.
    I updated my laptop, hp envy ts touchsmart sleekbook 4-1202ea, from windows 8 to windows 8.1. It is giving boot configuration data is missing some information with error code 0xc0000034.
    Whenever I power on my laptop it shows me the blue screen of death with that error. i am not able to go to bios setup, boot device select and system recovery. by pressing relevent function keys, the blue screen again appears, i am only able to go to system information and system diagnosis by F1 and F2.

  • TS3694 Password was flagged as disabled over the weekend.  Reconfirmed password this morning, then tried installing lastest iTunes on my (PC) laptop.  IE11, Windows 7.  Got failure code 7 (windows code 126).  Suggestions?

    My password was flagged as disabled this weekend.  Reconfirmed this morning, then tried to update to latest iTunes.  Didn't complete update (got error 7, Windows error 126).  Tried a second time; still no luck.  Tried complete download from Apple website.  Same error code, plus 2 additional errors flagged (mobile device error) which I attempted to Ignore.  Failed to install properly.  Now I can't get into iTunes at all from my laptop.  Suggestions?

  • Windows 81. Update Fails with 0xC1900101 0x30017

    Updating a laptop form 8 to 8.1 and get the following error at the end of the update. 0xC1900101-0x30017.  The system them reverts back to 8.

    This error might be to the BIOS . 
    BIOS upgrade may fix the issue.

    I noticed that you are getting the error code 80070002 on windows 8.1 updates, with your HP Photosmart 5520 printer. I am sorry to hear this but happy to help!
    Just to confirm, are you trying to update the printer software, or the Windows Operating System in general?
    Is your computer an HP computer?
    In the meantime, here is a post, I had found regarding this issue, Windows 8.1 Update Error Code: 0x8007002. Which I am assuming is an Operating System issue, not a printer issue.
    If it is the Windows updates you are trying to resolve, and the post does not help, please contact Microsoft Support.

  • Windows 8.1 error code 0xC1900101-0x30017, stuck on splash screen.

    I have a Gateway ZX 4270 series, every time I try to update to windows 8.1, it's stuck on the splash screen. For hours there would just a black screen that says Gateway. Then I would have to restart it, and it would switch back to the regular windows 8.
    When I logged on, the error code 0xC1900101-0x30017 comes up. How could I solve this issue?

    If you're having this issue open Firefox, go to Tools on the Firefox tabs at the top of your browser window, and click on Add-ons. This will take you to your Add-ons page. Click on Extensions on the right side of the screen and scroll down to the Skype extension add-on. Click on "Disable" to disable this extension. Once this extension is disabled your problem should be fixed. In my case it repaired the problem.
