Windows 8.1 VM Turning Off By Themselves

I am running some Eval Windows 8.1 VMs on Hyper-V 2012 R2. The VMs are added to a domain, and nothing fancy setup - just a standard domain configuration (no replication, clustering, etc). After about 10 minutes (maybe longer), I come to find the VMs have
turned off by themselves. Searching high and low on the internet, I cannot find an answer. Power settings have been changed so that can't be the issue. Checking the System event log, I found a few instances where different files/services initiate a shutdown
to the system.
From what I gather, the eval versions of Windows can only run so long and then they shutdown, and when they do, perhaps a given process, like wlms.exe is the current application opened when the system shuts down.
I would appreciate insight as I am trying to move forward with the evaluation stage prior to migration.

Unactivated Windows 8.1 evaluations will shut themselves down after the timeout expires.
And after a specific date has passed.

Hi,
I use ESET Endpoint Security and it's normal for this software to turn off Windows Defender to avoid potential conflicts that can occur if 2 security applications are running on the same PC.

Windows 10: Second display "turns off" in lock screen

Unfortunately some of these quirks are why people don't upgrade straight away, on the plus side by having over 14M people upgrade in less than 2 days MS now has a lot of faults found and fixes to work on - quickly. We hope.
That said I have a dual screen setup and my monitors retain the screen space settings.
The fact yours is a laptop maybe indicative of your issue - does your laptop have dual graphics, e.g. one for high use games and one for low use 2D?
Does it turn off 3D settings - it may not be a Windows 10 thing but more of a setting that has defaulted.

I don't recall having this problem with Win 7 Pro, just upgraded to 10 pro a few days ago.I have an HP Probook 450 G2 (with up-to-date graphics driver) and a dual monitor setup. Main display is on HDMI and second display is on VGA. When I lock my laptop (Win+L), it seems to "turn off" the second display and shifts any applications I had in the second display to the main display.While a relatively small issue, it is rather annoying to have to drag applications back over to the second display when I resume working.It doesn't seem to happen right away though, nor does it seem to trigger when display is set to sleep at 20 minutes. I'm not sure how else to explain this. "Windows Sharing" Won't Turn Off In Sharing Pane

Greetings.
I've a 1.25 eMac running 10.4.11, and I just noticed that the Windows Sharing setting in the Sharing panel won't go off even after hitting the "Stop" button and the checkmark which won't go away, and there's two yellow delta up next to it and to a Enable Accounts button. I was tooling around with the Firewall setting a few days ago and have done so for years but it never caused this IF this is the cause. I run my Airport home net without any problems but is this now a security risk?
Anny suggestions would be appreciated.

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these files to the Desktop.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sharing.firewall.plist
(Then Trash the original of this one, as "moving" it only copies it.)
Then reboot once more.

I am running windows xp two days ago my firefox stopped working it refused to open. Windows sxplorer was working I tried to unistall and upgrade on both occasions the windows message says to turn off firefox either though I cannot open it it still refuses

Windows.Web.Http.HttpClient by default sends a few headers like

Proxy-Connection
etc.
I tried, httpClient.DefaultRequestHeaders.Clear(). Doesn't work.
Any help is appreciated?
Basically, I manage my own caching and don't want the client to send extra headers that the server hates.

Elitebook 8570w - Windows 7 - How to turn off light when touchpad disabled

I much prefer to use the styk rather than the touch pad, and I lay my hands on the computer in such a way that I can accidentally trigger the touch pad when it is on. So with laptops I usually just go to the device manager and disable the touch pad entirely.
However, on my Elitebook 8570w, when I disable the touch pad, this extremely bright orange light comes on. It's extremely annoying, especially in low light situations, where I often have to work with my laptop.
How can I disable this light while the touchpad is disabled?

Alert volume sounds keep turning off by themselves, no alert sounds

seems to happen after restart. I don't have "things.app".

Open up a new account to check if your issue happens there.
Check your alert settings in System Preferences/Sound then disconnect all peripherals from your computer. Boot from your install disc & run _*Repair Disk*_ from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
Select *Disk Utility.*
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click *First Aid.*
Click _*Repair Disk.*_
Restart your computer when done.

Using Windows won't turn off display

When I am using Windows on my MacBook, I have set my Windows power options to turn off the monitor after 1 minute of not being used. The display never turns off. Is this a Windows or a MacBook problem? I tried setting it to 5mins, 10mins... Nothing works. I don't want to have my display on when I leave my desk.

IIRC, there are power management issues with running Windows on the MacBooks. Could be wrong, but I think I recall hearing this.
This would be up to Apple to fix via driver updates if it is indeed the case.

How do I turn off the auto window arranging?

I have a dual monitor system, and whenever I drag a floating
window (usually the Code Inspector) to the main display, it docks
and fills up the whole screen, and then I have to drag it back off.
I have to be very careful not to drag the window within about 600
pixels of the screen edge, so it doesn't attach itself.
I couldn't find anything in the Preferences or window context

I've got options for 2, 5, 10, 15 minutes and Never. Have you got an Exchange email account on your iPad ? 'Never' can be removed so as to protect a company's potentially sensitive email - they may not want the iPad being left/stolen with the emails on it accessible. If you remove the account the Never option will probably reappear

Windows update turned off by some program, why?

I have recently purchase the HP OMEN (last week) and so far I love it!!
But I have this questin, I just installed this simulation program called LSDYNA. When I launch it for some reason it seems as my power plan changes but without changing the plan i am on if that makes sense. Before opening the program i am on Hp recommended and after it is opened i am still technically on Hp recommended but the brightness of my screen increases to max level (100%) and more annoyingly the windows update center is turned off so no automatic update whie I am using the program.
Please could someone explain me what is going on?

I think I found where the problem emanated from. I had the total bitdefender2015 installed on the laptop and this software comes along with a user profile that allows itself to control a multitude of your computer behavior such power management. When LSDYNA is launched the program switches to the gaming user profile and all its settings.
