Windows 8.1 wake problems on MBA using latest Boot Camp drivers?

I'm using the latest Boot Camp drivers: 5.0.5033 and when the mac goes to sleep I can't wake it. Either auto sleep or manual sleep, it won't wake until I hard reset the mac. Please help? Do I need newer boot camp drivers? These are the newest drivers on the website, so... Do I need to wait for Apple to release new drivers?

there currently are not newer drivers apple does not officially support 8.1 so we're in the wild west in terms of if things works
live it with and wait for official support
or
reinstall win8

  • Sound in xp using latest boot camp drivers

Hey all - I have a problem in xp that I am wondering if anyone else has...
I cannot get sound out of the "line out" (I have the computer hooked up to speakers). I can only get sound out of the headphone jack - and NEVER get the sound out of the front (internal) speaker in xp. Anyone know what's going on?
I have looked at the RealTek controls, and I can't seem to select or otherwise enable the "line out" or internal speaker. I'm lost - anyone have any help for me? Thanks!

I found something that may be helpfull... I email this guy who is an expert on drivers for boot camp- this is the discussion so far...

    Hi Brandon,
I'm glad you found my article on Boot Camp drivers useful. Keep in mind I only have experience with MacBook Pros and Boot Camp, but I think I have a few pointers for you which can get you back up and running. Regarding your system spec, remember that unless you're running Windows 64bit (Vista or XP) you will not get the full benefit of those 4 gigs of ram - the most you'll see is a bit over 3 gigs. If you are running a 64bit version of Windows, stop, wipe it clean and start over with a 32bit version.
Your assumption that the iMac running XP should be a 'screamer' is correct. If SimCity 4 isn't isn't blazing fast, there's something iffy going on. First thing you should do is grab the latest driver release for your Radeon 2600. You can download those here: http:// ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeonx-xp.html
Regarding your other driver issues, I would suggest skipping the Boot Camp installer and do the driver installation manually. You'll need to know what's actually inside your system, and to do this you'll need a utility to analyze the hardware. I recommend SiSoft Sandra (http://www.sisoftware.co.uk/index.html?
dir=&location=pinformation&langx=en&a), there's a free version available for download.
Once you know what's inside your new iMac (because to be honest, I
don't) you can selectively install the drivers that Apple provides you with via the Boot Camp Assistant.
Before doing this though, nuke the Windows install you currently have and start fresh.
I hope that clears up your problems, let me know if it does, or if there's any other snags you come across.
    Cheers,

  • Can install Windows 7 Pro, but not Boot Camp drivers

I have used Boot Camp assistant to install Windows 7 Pro (64 bit), and built the USB drive with Boot Camp drivers.
Installed on a separate drive on my Mac Pro.
When I install the drivers and reboot, I get an error. Basically Windows says there is an error and it needs to run System Restore in order to roll back to the previous status (ie. remove Boot Camp drivers).
I am using the latest Boot Camp drivers for a Mac Pro (4,1) and 64 bit Windows.
I tried downloading the drivers from Apple's website in Windows, unzipped and installed - same issue.
Windows is not yet registered.... (might that be an issue?)
Grateful for some ideas. I have previously had Win7 running on this machine, and even Win 8 (which crashed - necessitating a roll back to Win 7 whcih is nicer).
    TIA

the drivers have a root setup.exe if people have problems with that they can manually navigate to the sub dirs and run the driver installs for the various hardware manually
the various driver exe install will only install if they detect the hardware is there so it's safe to run installers for say a video card ones computer does not have
and if one of the driver don't work of the hardware related to it is defect in some way you can identify which one as the restore would happen right over that driver install
that windows is not registered should not play apart as far as I know

  • Installing Windows 7 Without Using The Boot Camp Installer (MacBook Pro)

I don't know if anyone knows this or not, but I was able to install Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro just using the Windows 7 install disk.
I restarted with the windows CD in, and when the screen said press any key to boot from CD, I pressed the space bar. When it got to the part to select the installation drive, I went into advanced and removed all the partitions and formatted the whole thing. There was a small system partition the cannot be deleted (probably reserved for the system). I was able to install Windows 7 and use the whole drive for it.
After running Windows 7, I was still able to install the Boot Camp Control Panel to set the keyboard, track pad, sound, and all the other funtions. If I tell it to reboot to the Apple OS, it just reboots to Window 7 with no problems.
Anyway, I thought it was pretty cool and might be helpful for people who want to run only Widows 7 on their MacBook Pro.
CAUTION... DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

People have been using Mac as Windows-only.
On Mac Pro, with 4 internal drives, it is normal to not use anything other than the Windows DVD and install onto a dedicated drive, same as you did, only change it from GPT to MBR first.
    There is no risk.
(Well, some feel that someone might 'need' OS X to do something like a firmware update I guess.)

  • I am trying to install Windows XP Professional using Apple Boot Camp.

I partioned the hard drive using Apple Boot Camp.  Inserted with Windows XP disk into CD drive and hit Start Installation.  I got a black screen with blinking white underline in top left corner.  Computer will not do anything.  What do I do now?

    Decent prices, there.
Things to note: 32-bit XP only recognizes 3.5 GB RAM.  64-bit XP Home recognizes 16 GB RAM.  64-bit Pro recognizes 192 GB RAM.
If you have Core2Duo or better processor you have 64-bit system.
Darn to heck ... XP is needed.  Sorry.

I tried to download latest windows support using the boot camp , but the download stopped beacause of a network proplem ,  can you help?!

I have the same issues.  I keep getting a "network error" even though my connections are fine.  I have installed Bootcamp fine on another Macbook, but am having major issues with my brand new one.  I have read the support forums where they say to keep trying because the servers are notoriously slow, but this seems a little ridiculous.  Hope I can get some help as well.
    Thanks!

When I try to print using Windows 2008 print server I have to use the generic print drivers supplied. If I use the OEM driver the printer locks up. I have tried a HP 4 plus and a Canon Copier.

A number of vendor drivers written for OS X cannot be used when connecting via SMB to a printer that is shared by Windows. This is due to limitations of the driver.
In some cases, if you were to enable the LPD Print Service in Windows, you can connect to the share using the same syntax as SMB but on the Mac you would use the LPD as the protocol.
If you can reply with the brand and model of printer you have then we may be able to provide more information.

  • I have a copy of Windows 7, and I am trying to bring up Boot Camp on my MacBook with Snow Leopard.

I have a copy of Windows 7, and I am trying to bring up Boot Camp on my MacBook with Snow Leopard. But my Snow Leopard install disk is too old for Windows 7, so attempted Boot Camp install of drivers fails.
I have hand-installed the NVidia graphics driver, and I have keyboard, minimal trackpad, and hardwire to internet all working. So the WIndows machine is usable. But I am hurting for wi-fi, better trackpad, and whatever else is delivered by Boot Camp. I can't use any of the Boot Camp upgrades because I do not have XP or Vista.

    Dear Nathan,
Many thanks. To the best of my memory, that is how I got where I am today. Initially I had one failed setup, then discovered compatibility mode and ran using it.  The result was not an obvious failure, but something was not there because not only were some drivers missing (wi-fi, trackpad, ...) but (much to my disappointment) the 3.1 update would not run. It complained that 3.0 wasn't there. If I hardwired to my home network, the machine would do almost everything I wanted, but the graphics were slow and clumsy. That is when I hunted around for the NVidia driver and downloaded it from NVidia. And that is where I stand now.
My son found this link http://www.simplehelp.net/2009/01/15/using-boot-camp-to-install-windows-7-on-you r-mac-the-complete-walkthrough/
which has instructions claiming to do the install straight to Win 7 without using compatibility mode.
Given that my clumsy efforts to patch things up have probably necessitated a Win 7 deinstall and reinstall to test either your plan or the one my son found, I am inclined to sit tight for a couple of days to see  how much I can learn.
I appreciate your interest in  this problem, and if you are up for reading the process at the link my son found and commenting, I would be grateful.
In any case, many thanks, Paul

  • Windows 7 wont boot after install of boot camp drivers

I have been trying to get boot camp on imac mid 2010 with Maverick.   TodayI used
    Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5621
    The first set of drivers
    Boot Camp Support Software 5.0.5033
kept crashing on windows. Today I noticed a new set of drivers, well its the same issue. If I leave off the boot camp drivers windows is fine, except no sound and other driver missing issues but it works. The problem seems to be Mav or the drivers, before updating to Mav everything was fine. Sometimes I can even get to the windows log on screen, at one point I was able to log on and do things. So being smart, I restarted and the problem came back.  Who says Macs dont have issues.
    Any thoughts

Just ran into this same issue.
My problem got resolved after using the x64 version DVD of Win7 (just x64 instead of the DVD that had both x86 and x64 versions).
    What I did:
    My host is Windows 8.1
After installing Windows 7 x64 as VM on my 8.1 based laptop two days ago, I wanted to do the same on my desktop PC, but I had the same issue described here.
I used a DVD just with the x64 version for my laptop and a DVD with both x86 and x64 version for my desktop.
Tried repairing as advised by a post, but got the error: "This version of System Recovery Options is not compatible
with the version of Windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that is compatible with this version of windows."
I exported and imported the VM from my laptop to my desktop to test it and it ran with no problems.
So I tried the DVD that had just the x64 version of Win7 and that installed without issues.
I'm curious if this happens only when a DVD with more than one Win7 versions is used.

  • Windows 8.1 Not Working Properly after Updating Boot Camp Drivers to 5.1

    Hi all!
Recently I had a problem with the sound in Windows 8.1 using BC v5. That problem was resolved by updating the Boot Camp Drivers to 5.1. Now I've more problems than before.
    1. Some service are not loading at all at the startup (which did before)
The Boot Camp service is not loading automatically at startup, other Windows Services are not loading at the startup after updating the Boot Camp Drivers (Windows Update)
    2. Microsoft Office cannot verify license for the product.
This problem is due to the services that won't start automatically. I can't even do a repair of MS Office 2013... Even though it's a legal version of MS Office.
There are many many more problems I think... I just haven't discovered them yet which is very very annoying. When I was using Windows 8.1 with the Boot Camp Drivers version 5 there were few bugs than now...
Please is there any notice of these errors? Or am I the only one who is experiencing these errors??? Please give me some answers!
    Thanks in advance!!

I updated them by downloading the zip file from the Apple site...
I've just updated Mac OS X and it seems that this was the solution... Everything works fine! (For now)

  • Windows 8 crashes and with the error "kernel_security_check_failure" after installing Boot Camp drivers.

    Hi!
I've got a new 27" iMac (late 2013), and I was going to install Windows 8.1 (64-bit) to be able to play a few games.
Everything went smoothly (installed normally via Boot Camp Assistant), and after the Windows setup, the Boot Camp drivers needed to be installed. After this, the computer rebooted, but crashed at a blue screen with the error called "kernel_security_check_failure".
It rebooted a few times on its own, but after a few times, I got some options, and I chose to "refresh" the Windows 8 install, meaning it would reset the install while keeping my files (even though I didn't have any, as I never got to use it). This took some time, but it worked, and it booted into W8.
The Boot Camp drivers had been removed though, so I had to reinstall them. After they had reinstalled, the computer rebooted and the same blue screen with the same error hit me.
Something tells me that some of the BC drivers are messing things up. I can't find any information on this elsewhere.
Would it be possible to install only selected drivers, to eventually find out which driver is causing the problem?
    All help is greatly appreciated!

I finally gave up, reloaded everything, this time, using WIn 8.1 Pro, not Enterprise.  After I did the updates, patches, Norton 360, shut computer down and connected the external drives, and booted up...and got the BSOD.  This time, I went to Microsoft and downloaded the Windows Debugger, and think I may have found the problem...NORTON!

  • Windows 7 Freezes at Restart After Installing Boot Camp Drivers

    Hi,
I have a MacBook Pro and am having troubles installing 32-Bit Windows 7. All seems to be functional until I install the Boot Camp drivers included on the Install Disk. I have tried using the Boot Camp 3.1 update, but the same problem occurs. After the computer freezes on the install page, I can no longer access Windows (even in Safe Mode) and am forced to restart the entire process (that is, repartition the hard drive and reinstall Windows).
If I don't install the Boot Camp drivers, Windows seems to be functional, so I'm pretty sure it's something in the Boot Camp package causing the trouble.
Is anyone else having this problem? Any ideas or workarounds?

I finally got it to work. You need to go to the NVidia website and install their drivers. I think the Apple supplied ones are out of date and are causing Windows to hang. Install Boot Camp from the supplied DVD, install the update that Apple supplies through the newly installed Boot Camp, and then go to the NVidia website to manually download the drivers. I used the GeForce 300M series installer. Make sure you do all of this before letting Windows restart.
I had a few issues with it hanging a few times, but once I was able to get into Windows it seems to be working. All of the other Apple supplied drivers seem to work.

  • Windows 7 Build 7100 (release candidate): Boot Camp drivers not compatible?

I had a go at installing Windows 7 Build 7100 on my MacBook (aluminium) via Boot Camp. Windows 7 installed fine, but the Boot Camp drivers of the chipset and DVD drive don't seem to work.
I'll have a look at Intel's website for the chipset driver, but what's really annoying me is that I can't eject my optical discs.
Anyone else tried 7100 yet? I had none of the above problems in build 7000.

Tried 7077. A word or two of caution, these (Apple Boot Camp) is known to cause problems and was blocked.
Programs and drivers/installers that worked previously aren't, but that is the purpose of an RC.
Also, Apple iTunes has used GEAR drivers which have also disabled optical drives in the past and may do so again.
*What you will see when a program is incompatible:*
this has been formalized with an appearance by the familiar Program Compatibility Assistant window shown here.
    http://community.winsupersite.com/blogs/paul/archive/2009/04/25/security-softwar e-changes-in-windows-7-rc.aspx
Everything works well except Apple TimeServices when you change OS; OSSwitcher (control panel "Boot Camp" to change the default boot OS). Otherwise 7077 has run smooth, fewer problems than Vista (including SP1 and SP2(RC), and definitely much much better than build 7000.
