Windows 8 64-bit: Java 7 u51 installation failure (including Java 8)

Hi,
I have been fighting for several months trying to install any version of Java > 7u51. Until Java 8u25 (probably u20), the installation almost completes but at the very end a message says "installation error" without any reason specified and Java is removed (before acknowledging the error, Java is in the list of installed program). This happens both for the 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Since Java 8u25 (probably u20 but not tried), the message is "installation error 1603" without any additional reason. Else the behaviour is the same.
I digged into almost all suggestions I found on the net, tried most of them including removing a Windows Update fix from August, disabling bitlocker (it is enabled on my laptop), running Microsoft Fixit utility and the suggestion from Can't install JRE 8u20. Nothing helped and I'm stucked with the u51. In every attempt, I removed all the installed JRE and JDK from my system before trying to install a new version, removed the left directories (failed installations leaves the directory under \Programs or \Programs x86).
I also found https://www.java.com/fr/download/help/error_1603.xml, suggesting that there was kown issues but without any further explicated, without any date (I don't know whether this is old or recent) and suggesting that there was a workaround being prepared... Precisions would be welcome!
Thanks in advance for any help.
Michel

Hi,
Have you tried the workaround presented by b200bbcb-19d0-424a-9463-d7f4ea004f29 ?
Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre8u25 (or whatever version you're on)
Open the folder labeled "bin."
Open javacpl.exe
Go to the security tab, un-check "Enable Java content in the browser."
Run the java installer again
After installation, go back to javacpl.exe, security tab, and re-check "Enable Java content in the browser."
jp2launcher.exe bug during installation
Hope this help you.
Kind regards.

  • Windows 7 64-bit 0x80070570 Error During Installation

I hope someone here can help me out. I wanted to install Windows 7 64-bit via Boot Camp on my MacBook running Lion, but encountered this error message about 5% into expanding files:
"Windows cannot install required files. The files may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available and restart installation."
The 64-bit copy was an ISO downloaded from my university's MSDNAA website, so I tried reburning it at a lower speed with no luck. I also tried reburning it using 2 different brand of DVDs (both times at the lowest speed), but still the same result.
Installing the 32-bit version worked fine (also an ISO downloaded from MSDNAA), but I'm confused as to why the 32-bit would install, but the 64-bit would not. Does anyone have an idea? I'd prefer to be running 64-bit to make as full use of my 4GB of RAM as possible.
Should I simply try redownloading from the MSDNAA site and burning it again and see what happens?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Probably should've searched around a bit more. Just saw a similar forum post to my own in which redownloading and burning solved another user's similar issue. As of now I've redownloaded the 64-bit ISO, burned it, and so far so good (at 72% extracting files). I will repost here if it was a success in hopes that other users with a similar issue find this and benefit from it. Hope I didn't just waste anyone's time with a question that had already been answered (haha)

  • Bootcamp -- Windows 7 64-bit 0x80070570 Error During Installation

    Hello Apple community,
I am trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on my Late 2011 early 2012 MacBook Pro 15 inch. I go through the Bootcamp process, insert the installation disc everything works fine up to the part when Windows is Expanding Files. It stays at 0% for at least 2-5 minutes and then it hits 1% and comes up with the error: "Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070570." I have tried installing Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit and it works flawlessly. To me it makes no sense at why the 64-bit wouldn't work. I have tried different burnspeeds all the way from x16 down to x2 and non of them work.
The very frustrating part is it worked perfectly fine in a Virtual Machine (Parallels). I have even tried to put the Windows Iso file on a USB but macs for some reason don't want to recognize the USB to install from that. When I got my Mac I had it upgraded to 8gb's of RAM. Im not sure if that would have anything to do with it or not. I have Lion 10.7.3 If anyone has any advice please help me out. I really would like to have the capability to dual boot with 64-bit to utalize the full 8gbs of ram and not just 2.16 of it with 32-bit. I have also heard of people trying different dvd's and for some people that works and some people it doesn't. I will be trying that tomorrow will re-post to see if that fixes it, but it wouldn't make sense for the 32-bit to work and the 64 not to work. I have also tried re-downloading the Iso at least 4 times now. I have burned well over 10 discs and I only have so many left.
    Thanks,
    John

Thank you for the advice to do a Memtest. Here are the unfortuante results which I think means I need to take out some RAM and see if that fixs this issue? I will try this similar Memtest on a Friends Mac and see if it works flawlessly. Hopefully this is the issue, if so I will be very very happy. Right now I'll mark "This helped me" but if it does fix it, I'll re-mark it to "This solved my question" to get you the points you deserve.

    All,
I've got the same problem as this thread -- Re: CR XI R2: Salesforce 3.0 driver on Windows 7 64-bit?
Crystal XI R2, Salesforce 3.0 downloaded from the Crystal page.  Using Windows 7 64-bit.  Have applied SP 5 per another thread.
Continue to get JAVA error.  Java being used is 1.4 as installed by Crystal in the Crystal program directory.
    thanks, jhb

    Don,
Still no go.  I get the same error.
I uninstalled SP6, SP5, Salesforce Connector, and Crystal XI R2 SP2 and then re-installed everything.
    1) Crystal XI R2 SP2
    2) Salesforce connector 3.0
    3) SP5
    4) SP6
Still get the same Java Connection error.  I've also disabled Windows Firewall.  I'm not behind a proxy.  I've tried with and without the security token.

  • Windows 7 32-bit not booting after installation... Mac Pro 2,1 Quad Core 2.66

I am trying to install Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit on my 2006 Mac Pro (Upgraded to 2,1 firmware). However after the installation has been completed and the computer restarts it just reboots back to the start of the Windows set up installation process. If I restart it and select the Windows disk drive at start up with the install disc removed disc drive then all I get is a black screen with a flashing underscore in the top left corner.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Cannot install AIR 2.0.4.13090 sidecar application on Windows 7 64 bit

Our team is experiencing consistent failure to install our AIR-developed application on Windows 7 64 bit. It fails to install, but apparently eventually can be installed only after a complete uninstallation of AIR and subsequent install attempts are made.
The following suggestion from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/403/kb403150.html has also been tried, but errors persist:
Installing an AIR application displays the error message: "Sorry an error has occurred. The application could not be installed. Try installing it again. If the problem persists, contact the application author." (Windows Vista / Windows 7)
This error may occur during installation if the user has turned off User Account Control (UAC) operating system feature and is a standard or restricted user. From Control Panel, Open UAC and enable it. A reboot maybe required, once complete, re-try the installation.
The error messages are as follows:
    Name of Our Application
    Sorry, an error has occurred.
An error occurred while updating the application. Try updating it again. If the problem persists, contact the application author.
    Error #0
    Sorry, an error has occurred.
The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer from the application author.
This is a boxed product which is slated to ship very soon. The QA team is rejecting the builds because of this issue, which puts the entire project in jeopardy. Timely help is appreciated.
Here is a sanitized, excerpted section from the end of the install log (it is extremely long):

Thanks very much for keeping this issue alive.
    Let me restate the issue:
We have a AIR 2.0.4.13090 sidecar application. Installing the application for the very first time seems to work. Any uninstall or update after that runs into issues on the problematic Windows 7 64 bit machine. The installer logs all point the finger to Windows Installer having problems writing to the temp directory.
We've gone through many, many things trying to resolve this, including resetting administrative access to the temp directory and flushing the temp directory out entirely. I'm reporting this news secondhand, so it's not possible for me to directly relate the exact measures taken, step-by-step. The ONLY thing that reliably worked for running and installing updates on this AIR application was the following:
    1) Create a new administrative level user.
    2) Log in with that user.
    3) Disable firewalls.
    4) Run the updater.
    5) Log back in as normal user, delete temporary user.
if the user account created in step 1 is not deleted in step 5 and is used to attempt a further update or uninstall, it will fail. This seems to tell me that AIR is able to utilize the temp folder via Windows Installer correctly only once. After that, it dirties this directory somehow and is unable to use/write to it, and subsequent uninstalls/updates fail with error 0.
Again, the failure all show msi issues writing to the temp directory. They result in an "Error 0" alert dialog in AIR.

  • Only 2GB RAM working in Windows 7 64-bit

    Hi there,
We have a 2x 3.2Ghz Quad-Core Mac Pro with 12GB DDR2 800 PC2 6400 (iRAM IR4GMP800K), running Snow Leopard 10.6.4 and Boot Camp updated to 3.1. All 12GB of RAM show up just fine in Snow Leopard.
We just installed a new 1TB SATA drive, created a Boot Camp partition, and installed Windows 7 64-bit on it.
Installation went fine, and the OS seems to run okay. However, only 2GB are showing up in the System Properties. It does name the OS as Windows 7 64-bit.
We tried to install the 64-bit drivers in the Boot Camp / Drivers / Apple folder on the Snow Leopard DVD, but didn't seem to help.
    Any ideas?

Yes, purchased it retail. This is exactly what we bought and the disc that was installed:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116758
I was thinking about the actual RAM too. When we installed the iRAM, we pulled the 4GB stock Apple RAM. I can try to put that back in tomorrow I suppose, and see what happens.
Also worth noting the ram is installed as such:
    Board A: 4 x 2GB modules
    Board B: 2 x 2GB modules
Do you think the slots we used might have something to do with it?

  • Problems installing 10G (r 10.2) on Windows 7 64-bit

Hello. I am taking an introductory Oracle SQL class. The professor gave us a link to install Oracle 10g release 2, which I followed and performed on my Windows 7 64-bit laptop. The installation seemed to run through okay. When asked (again, per instruction), I created a database named CIS276 (the class name) instead of "orcl" as suggested during the setup. I am having problems getting connected to the database, however, and since the class is online, I can't go to our campus to sit down with the professor to work out where the trouble is, so I'm hoping somebody out here can help me. Here's where I am:
I am able to get to the Enterprise Manager through the loopback address and port that was given to me during installation. I am able to log into EM using the SYS account with the password I entered during install. I get to a screen that has a button labelled "Startup/Shutdown." When I click that button, I am taken to a screen asking for Host credentials (OS account name and password) and database credentials (I use "SYS", the password I created, database is already filled in, and "SYSDBA" for "Connect as"). After entering this information, I click on OK. I get an error message at the top of the screen saying: "Couldnot contact the agent. Verify that the url for the agent is null." I looked up this string and a suggestion was to run " lsnrctl status"--I think (I've been trying a lot of things over the past couple of days to try to get this running) and the program replied that the environment variable "ORACLE_SID" wasn't set. I looked up what I was supposed to do and went into Windows 7 Environment area and set the value.
I rebooted the computer and tried again and am still getting the same problem. So I Googled the error message again and saw a suggestion to stop and restart dbconsole. When I did that, I got an error (stopping and starting) telling me that I was denied access.
At this point, I felt I'd better stop and get any suggestions from more experienced Oracle users. If anybody could give me some suggestions as to what to try next, I'd truly appreciate it.
And one other question: when I followed the link to download Oracle, there was another download listed called something like "Companion Disk 2". Is this a necessary download or is it just extra stuff that I may not use for now?
    Thank you again.
    Eric S. Bauman

    Hi Eric,
I thin your problem is not related to Operating System. Right now I also use Windows 7 64 bit. and the oracle database that i used is Oracle 10g (10.2.0.3) for windows vista 64 bit. still up and running good.
"I am able to get to the Enterprise Manager through the loopback address and port that was given to me during installation. I looked up what I was supposed to do and went into Windows 7 Environment area and set the value."
from your problem let's do it one by one:
to run lsnrctl, from windows desktop--> click start menu -> on search program and files box type cmd, the start menu will change its appearance and it will show you black icon with names cmd.exe do right click on that icon then choose run as administrator. It will open DOS command prompt for you.
on DOS prompt type : set ORACLE_SID=<your database name>, example : set ORACLE_SID=orcl then enter
now you can execute your lsnrctl status from the prompt.
in case you need to start listener you can use : lsnrctl start from previous DOS Prompt or you can start it via services.msc as follow : from windows desktop--> click start menu -> on search program and files box type services.msc then enter on window that open find oracle<oracle_home>TNS listener services then double click this services click on button start.
as for the agent problem is not running try to check the services with names oracleDBConsole<dbname> is it run or not.
    hope it helps.

  • Reader 9.4 won't open on Windows 7 64-bit

Have a strange issue with installing Reader 9.4 on a new Windows 7 64-bit setup. Program installs without any issue at all, but when opening it from the start menu or opening a PDF document, the cursor is busy for a few seconds and then returns to normal without ever opening Reader. There's nothing in the task manager that indicates it's trying to run. I've tried to right-click it and run as administrator, but it that doesn't even show as an option. I've also tried making the user a member of the local admin group, giving him full permission to the entire C:, and turning off UAC. Uninstalling and reinstalling as administrator or user with elevated priveleges didn't make any difference either. Anyone have any idea what I might be overlooking here? TIA

I had the exact same problem and I noticed that the same thing started happening with other programs along with adobe reader. What i discovered was that at least in my case, the issue was that Adobe Reader uses the temp folder on your computer. Mine happened to grow to about 35 gigs and because of that whenever a program tried to write anything to the temp folder, it would hang forever. Once i cleared my temp folder everything started working properly again for all programs including adobe reader.
the way i did this was from
My Computer -> Right click properties -> Click Disk Cleanup.
It will scan for all places that it will need to do disk cleanup on. Mine took a good 20 minutes because of the temp folder. Afterwards, look through the list of items that it scanned and make sure you select the temp folder option. Along with this you can probably clear out any other folders that are taking up a lot of memory. Clear these folders and try running Adobe Reader again. The process of clearing may take a very long time if your temp folder happens to be really large. But it was well worth it for me because everything started running quickly again. Anyways hope this helps for you as well.

  • Documaker 11.5 in Window 7 - 64 bit machine

    Hi Experts,
We are trying to install Documaker 11.5 in Window 7 - 64 bit machine. The installation is successful, however we aren't able to invoke Documaker Studio. It just gives the below error message:
"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect".
Has any one come across or any suggestions on solving this issue?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Could be you are missing the installation pre-reqs, the MSVC++ 2008 redistributable installation in particular.

  • Hp pavilion dv6500 upgrade to windows 8 64 bits

hi guys i have an hp pavilion dv6500 laptop with 64 bit processor and i want to upgrade it to windows 8 64 bit but during the installation am asked to select file or insert cd containing the drivers before proceeding with the installation. can anyone help me with a link to download these particular drivers please.....

Have you run the Windows 8 compatibility checker?
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/upgrade-from-windows-vista-xp-tutorial
Open the Device Manager and see which devices are installed. That is important and will save a lot of time. Verify the wireless and wired network interface devices. Otherwise we will have to find out what they are the more difficult way.
You can install and run CPU-z  to find out which chipset and graphics device is installed. Use the tabs.  Once we know those, then finding the drivers is a possibility. The notebook may be a bit far back in generations for Windows 8, but Windows 8,1 does have a large builtin driverstore so it is a possibility.

  • ** Lenovo Active Protection System V1.0.0.21 Causing Windows 7 64-bit to randomly lock up **

    Hi everyone,
We supplied 4 x Lenovo ThinkCentre M93P Tiny Desktops (Model: 10AB003SAU) to a business customer earlier in the year.
They are all running Windows 7 64-bit with 500GB 7000RPM SATA drives.
Late last week to early this week (approx 17 April 2015 to 20 April 2015) an update came through Lenovo System Update for Lenovo Active System Protection V1.0.0.21 which the customer installed on all four of their systems.
Since then, all four systems have been hanging & locking up during use & then require a hard reset for the systems to be usable again until the problem reoccurs next time then the same thing over & over.
I spent a heap of time going over the systems trying to work out the cause of this issue which has cost me an absolute fortune in lost productivity & lost revenue.
It also lost the customer a lot of time & renenue due to the systems being problematic over a number of days.
Thanks very much Lenovo! Won't get any of that time or lost labour back!
Customer is furious with both us & Lenovo over this matter, we will likely lose future business due to this.
Hoping this may save someone else a major headache if they see this post early enough as I assume problem would be relatively widespread if people are using Lenovo Update.
If anyone else has or had this issue recently then please comment.
Very disappointed with this problem due to an update which appears to be not fully tested!
I wonder how likely it will be that we will continue to supply Lenovo systems to other customers after this in the future......

    Hi,
As far as I can find on Google, I only see people solving a similar problem, by totally removing all Java installation and then install the latest Java 6 update.
    Have a look e.g. here: http://www.java-forums.org/awt-swing/34794-java-application-fails-launch-without-error.html
It is not about installing oracle, but the person does have similar problems
    Success!!
