Windows 8 64-bit not working on iTunes

Every time I try to update my iTunes it fully downloads but when I try to install it says that its not compatible with my computer. I have Windows 8 64-bit and I download the 64-bit Windows version. Does anybody know why it doesn't work?

You might try a manual install/repair.
The instructions below I've done with Windows 7 64 bit. (not sure what will happen with Windows 8 but we may learn more)
After downloading the latest version of iTunes from Apple, extract the files in “iTunes64Setup.exe”
(If you have never done this, you may need to download a program such as WinRAR [64 bit].)
Manually run each install file in the following order.
AppleApplicationSupport.msi
Bonjour64.msi
AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi
AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi
iTunes64.msi
If there are any errors, stop, and write back with the results.

    I've installed BDM6 on my 64bit Windows 7 environment and have found that Desktop Manager cannot find a trace of Office 2010  
    I then checked the Technical spec and found out that a 64bit system is unsupported... Which I find amusing....

    Don't bother trying to downgrade to 32 bits windows 7 or to 32 bits Office 2010.
    I can confirm ... as can 113 participants in a thread higher up this blog, that DM6 is a totally UNWORKABLE release full of fatal bugs.
    DM6 was announced as the solution for people running Office 2010 32 bits ... well it is entirely useless... so best you change phone or keep an eye on this  FORUM to see when the other two streams are likely to be "closed" out with solution!
    The two threads are :  "Desktop Manager version 6.0 Crashing" and "Updated to DM6, cannot Synchronise"....  if you have any spare time,browse through these ... makes for a good read and lots of suggestions but no solutions in sight!
    And yes RIM initially announced that they would not both about office 64bit until 2011!

    Anyone else having problems with Auto-hide Taskbar not working when iTunes is open and the active window? Was working fine with previous versions including the beta of 10.5 I had. Is this a general problem or just me? Im using Windows 7 64bit for what its worth.

    Chiming in with the same problem. 64-bit Win 7 Professional, taskbar set to auto-hide, newest version of iTunes (actually uninstalled and reinstalled via the website download earlier today to see if that would fix it; nope). I normally use the Alt+Tab keys to navigate between windows anyway, so it's not inconveniencing me too much, but it's still irritating when I'm trying to use the mouse to switch windows (or check the time) and realize I can't. Definitely fix this one soon. We'll all be very grateful

    I recently have an issue with Synaptics touchpad on HP Mini 110 Windows 7 32 Bit - NOT working for one user - working for another.

    By checking the device properties on the user that works - "Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad 13/10/2011 Version 15.3.29.0"
    When the other user logs on, the touchpad works for a few seconds, then a displays a black square with a red diagonal line through it, then the touchpad won't respond. Trying to use the keypad to navigate to system diagnosics or anything to find further info is useless....

    I will do my best in assisting to hopefully get the TouchPad to work on the second user profile.
    What I would like to start off with, is to restore the original Synaptics drivers onto the profile that is not working correctly. I have included the document Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7).
    Once you have installed the original drivers, you will need to complete all updates from both HP, as well as Windows. For these updates, if you open the HP Support Assistant, and select Maintain, you should see an option for updating.

It says it has successfully downloaded and installed, but when I try to connect my new iPhone 6 to iTunes i get an error message 'need to install new software' but i thought i had!     For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
    The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
    Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

    I have a Toshiba Satellite c655 with WIndows 7 64 bit Home premium. The hard drive died on it, so I purchased a new hard drive and purchased the appropriate Recovery media from Toshiba. I followed the directions and installed the 3 disks on to the new hard drive. But Windows update does not work I get the following error: Windows update can not currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your PC    No matter what I try, I can not get it to work. And it will not let me install Windows Defender either. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.     Robin, I have the 4S too. Here's wha I've been doing. Well, I am downloading wma books, but it is super time consuming and annoying. First, shut off genius in your preferences in iTunes. Also change to spoken podcast for speed. Then, you start to transfer from Overdrive. It will create a playlist with your book title. Open up books though because you need to keep an eye on it. It may download like three parts and then you may have a grey one. When you get the grey, cancel the transfer, delete the greyed part, exit iTunes, re-enter iTunes, and then try to download the remaining book parts. I usually have to re-enter iTunes three or four different times during a book. When your book is downloaded, all black and none grey, open up the playlist folder and double check that all parts made it in there. If not, carry them from the books folder to the playlist and then move it into numerical order.
    Re non bookmarking problem. I now have a new habit of checking what part I am on before i shut off my phone or switch to another book. It does save where you were, it just doesn't show you. For instance, if I start part three and then play music, and then go back to the book playlist, it will appear as if we are back to the beginning, but if I go to part three, it will start up from where I was. So, just start checking and then it is easy. I am flabbergasted that no other proper solution has been offered by Overdrive. This has been a problem since October. I also wish they would acknowledge the problem on their website as well as post what version number of update they have. I have 3.2.1.0 and think that's current. Does anyone have newer than this.     An easy, quick workaround is to plug external speakers into your laptop and take it with you in the car. A bit unwieldy, but I can't commute without books.

    iTunes STORE not “connectable” with my otherwise perfectly-working internet connection, viable, up and running for all other uses.
    Simply put, firstly, I can't connect to the internet when I click on Radio.  People are quite suspicious that this is Apple incompetence or your company's famous arrogance for this commonly-suffered problem that you won't or “can’t” fix.
    Read the many web comments and you won’t be pleased with yourselves: the suspicion is that if you ruin internet radio on iTunes, Apple will somehow make more money on music downloads, etc. Bull.
    Also, thirdly, my old playlist of 20 or so internet radio stations in the Ambient category STILL PLAYS !
    Then fourth, I installed the latest available version of QuickTime Player 7.app Version 7.6.6 but it didn’t solve the problem either. I had QuickTime Player.app Version 10.2, but substituted what Apple website said was the latest, LOWER NUMBERED QuickTime Player version of 7.6.6
    Fifth, I can't connect to iTunes store no matter what I do or what user group's advice I try. So I can’t buy or download anything from iTunes. Bad for business.
    Sixth, I updated to the latest version of iTunes but this weird problem remains. All suggested Apple fixes or user group fixes are useless. Where is Apple’s famous technical competency, vaunted customer support?, and user-friendly product reputation? Get it back, please.
    Solve this problem of yours ASAP for us, your numerous disgruntled, dissatisfied customers of iTunes. You can do better, should, and really –in all fairness- must.
