Windows 8 (64-bit) Recovery USB for Folio 9470m

Hi
I received a new HP Elitebook Folio 9470m with Windows 8 (64-bit) pre-installed recently.
I have a 13Gb HP_Recovery partition which has 2Gb of free space but I would rather that partition was better utilised for my data and documents.
Basically, I want to format the HP_Recovery partition so I can use the 13Gb, but before I do that I want to make sure I have an OS install image that I can use if necessary at a later date.
I have no HP Recovery Manager software installed and there isn't a version for Windows 8 that I could find\download. I couldn't find one for Windows 7 (64-bit) but I'm not even sure that that version would work?
I saw a suggestion that pressing F11 at boot will enter the HP Recovery tool but when I tried this nothing happened.
How can I create a USB Windows 8 (64-bit) install image?
Thanks in advance
Steve

Hello kitkat915,
Try with the basic driver with the following steps:
1. Download the next driver to the windows desktop >> ljP1000_P1500-HB-pnp-win64-en.exe [1/1, 3.54M]
   2. Once downloaded in the desktop right click the driver file and select Properties.
     3. Click on Compatibility tab.
        4. Check the box where it says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
           5. In the dropdown option select "Windows 7"
      6. And in Privilege Level check the box where it says "Run this program as an administrator"
   7. Now click on Apply and OK buttons to close the Properties window.
8. Then start the instalation, double click the driver file "ljP1000_P1500-HB-pnp-win64-en"
It may look like the next screenshot:

  • Dead Hard Drive / Windows 7 / No Recovery Disks for HP G61-632NR Notebook PC

My harddrive is completely DEAD.  Is there a way to find out using my serial number if my laptop came with 32 bit or 64 bit?  There is NO information at all in the documents I kept with the box.  Only the receipt.  I see I can only order recovery disks for 64 bit online as 32 bit is not available.  I don't' want to pay for them if they won't work. I'm so frustrated this laptop is only a little over 2 years old.

    Thanks so much!

  • NO Lenovo Windows 8.1 Recovery DVD for CLEAN INSTALL! + unable to Install UEFI MODE

    Hi,
I Just bought 25 Thinkpad T431s Laptops for my company (@ISRAEL)
All of them came with windows 7SP1 Installed And Recovery is Windows 8 (not 8.1 even though 8.1 is out for a yr!)
The Install process takes 3 Hours!!! Just for upgrading to windows 8.
Then I need to upgrade to 8.1 - the process is about 3 hours more! Because I need to Register And create Microsoft account for each user then to verify the account.
After that I need to Log with the account to the PC And then Download the update (3.5GB) And Install it.
IS ANYONE AT LENOVO THINKS THAT ITS ACCEPTABLE?
DO I WORK FOR LENOVO? DO I NEED TO SPEND 6 HOURS FOR UPGRADING EACH LAPTOP?
Don't forget that after that I need to uninstall all the bloater from the PC. Like Symantec AV (Because Enterprise company's uses Enterprise Class AV, FW And other software. We uses Kaspersky Enterprise, ESET, And others...)
    AND ABOVE ALL.
If I want to Install Original Windows 8.1 I can't!
Because the OS Recovery DVD is not bootable And contain special recovery files with special extensions. Also, there is no PRODUCT CODE! Just "WINDOWS 8" sticker logo on the back of the notebook.
SO I WANT TO KNOW WHERE AND HOW(!)
I CAN GET A WINDOWS 8.1 ORIGINAL ISO IN ORDER TO INSTALL IT ON ALL MY PC's.
I want to know why I can't Install Just the "OPERATING SYSTEM RECOVERY DISK" (A standard clean Install)
== When I tried with my own Windows 8.1 Pro VL \ RETAIL ISO to Install it didn't pass activation==
==================== not even with the extracted key from the bios=====================
FYI - WHEN I BUY DELL OR HP LAPTOPS I'M GETTING A WINDOWS 8.1 PRO X64 BOOTABLE DVD DISK in addition to the 2 DVD RECOVERY DISKS. (So I am able to Install windows Without all the that you And them put into the recovery disk set).
Customer service in ISRAEL said that this is not possible! And that the only way is:
    1. Use the 3 DVD recovery disks to format And Install windows 8.0
    2. Register the user with a Microsoft account
    3. Log in to each PC with his own Microsoft account
    4. Download 8.1 update from Microsoft store
    3. Install the 3.5GB update.
    4. uninstall all the bloater.
So can I please ask you to confirm the answer I got from LENOVO ISRAEL. If So, ill return the laptops And that will the last time ANY OF MY COMPANY'S WILL EVER BUY ANY NOTEBOOKS OR TABLETS FROM LENOVO!
In addition, im trying to figure out how can I contact Lenovo main office to file a complaint against Lenovo Israel.
CEO Ms. Sigal didn't do anything to try And solve the issue, the product manager Mr. Many talk with me on the phone And was very rood. At the end he hang up the phone in my face! After I proved him wrong in another issue (T440s T431s cannot be installed with UEFI Because External DVD drive does not support UEFI Install only Legacy. And there is a big different between Legacy And UEFI)
    Thank you.

Hi ohad, welcome to the forums,
I'm sorry to read about your experience.
I don't work for Lenovo but it would appear to me that something may have gone wrong at the sales / purchasing stage; to my knowledge the T431s is only available with Windows 7 preload, (with Win 8 recovery discs in some cases as you have), or with Windows 8 preload. A Win 8.1 preload doesn't appear to be available for the system, but I stand to be corrected on this.  If you required Windows 8.1, in my opinion the better option of the two, would have been a system with the Win 8 preinstall as this would only require updating to Win 8.1
Unfortunately I also can't envisage Lenovo creating a factory image for the T431s because it must be pretty near end of life.

  • Windows 7 Pro recovery DVD for T420 laptop?

Can you get a recovery DVD from Lenovo for the T420 laptop.  I created the recovery media, and then had the OS remove the recovery partition after the creation of the discs. I just found that there is a problem with the disc and can't restore the system now.
CAn I get a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit DVD from Lenovo if I provide a reciept, etc. so I can re-install the OS on the laptop??  EVen if I have to pay a small fee, that's fine.  I'd don't want have go buy another copy of Windows for this computer, which I've only had for about 2 months, and I frankly don't have the time to make a warranty claim (if I even can).

Lenovo will sell you a recovery media set for the same OS that shipped on your laptop.  IIRC, it will cost around $50US.
I've had a couple of cases where burned recovery media was defective and the laptop was still under warranty - and support sent media free.  I can't speak for them, but give support a call either way.

One thing to try if you're willing to gamble $.50 worth of plastic:  if a burn is marginal (rather than just wrong) it can sometimes be read in another drive.  Put your bad CD/DVD in another machine and see if it's readable.  If it is, copy and try the copy in your ThinkPad.  It requires a bit-for-bit copy - not just copying the files.

  • Windows 8.1 Recovery DVDs for upgrading?

My son-in-law just bought an HP-15 laptop from Costco. It came loaded with Windows 7 Professional, but also came with Windows 8.1 System Recovery DVDs (1 through 3) and instructions on how to install Windows 8.x. I understand that a recovery disk will wipe your system and re-install, but how can you "recover" what was not there in the first place? Can these Recovery disks really be used to upgrade his computer to 8.1? Thanks for any help!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

What you first need to do since it came with Windows 7 is create those REcovery disk first...see the last part...
Obtaining HP Recovery Discs or an HP USB Recovery Drive
Read this before ordering your Recovery Discs! (US and Canada Only)
Creating Recovery Discs or Saving a Recovery Image to a CD/DVD/USB Flash Drive (Windows 7)
Also if Windows 7 is working fine you don't need to go Windows 8/8.1 the upgrade unless your laptop is touch screen will not benefit you also Windows might break the drivers or some software that works in 7 may not work correctly in 8. So be careful and not always try for the newest toys that could cost you more headache then you want and might not really benefit you more then the current Windows 7 can do for him already.

  • How can I get a 64 bit recovery media for a Satellite L455D-S5976

This machine came with a 32 bit processor along with a 32 bit operating system. Not long ago I upgraded the processor to a dual core AMD Turion 64x. I created recovery media, but it is a 32 bit version. I have an upgrade win 7 that I believe will do the trick but I would rather do it with the Toshiba recovery media. Anyone have a possible solution.

  • My iPad standard window is bit too big for the screen.

My iPad screen unexpectedly got slightly too big for the display window. The size is bit too big. For example, the keyboard when it pops up does not fully display all tkey sans. Another example is the time/power remaining bar slips out of sight.  Did I accidentally change something?  Is this an issue with version of iOS that I am using (4.3.3)? (Note I'm not talking about resizing by using your fingers.)

    John,
I am having the same problem.  The enlargement is not the same as the 3 finger tap or the 2 finger zoom.  The screen opens and then bumps to a slightly larger screen just enough to make it too big to see the outer edges.  You can put 3 fingers on the screen and move the screen to see the edges but you cannot get it to shrink to the correct size.  This is the second time this has happened to me.  I am also having some other issues.  Sometimes while in an app the app will close and I will be diverted to the home screen.  And sometimes when playing "with Friends games" the letters on the letterboard (not the key pad) disappear, will not move or are giant.  I plan on taking it back to the Apple store this week but I hate the idea of having to start over.

  • Elitebook Folio 9470m - how to create recovery USB in preinstalled Win7?

Hi, this will be my first post here, so please be gentle
I have a new, pretty HP Elitebook Folio 9470m for testing - it came with preinstalled Windows 7 OS. I wanted to check some things, play around with it and as a cautious user I wanted to create a recovery media first. I have a 65GB flash drive which I've previously used as a recovery media for other notebooks and (as this model doesn't have a CD/DVD drive) I wanted to use it this time as well.
First I searched the web to find out how to create a recovery USB for this laptop but HP website gave me the info to use Recovery Manager which I don't have installed on this notebook - when I search for "recovery" I get something like "Create HP recovery CD". And when I try to use this I get an error regarding no writable media (even thou the flash drive is connected).
I stumbled upon a tip to F11 the laptop before boot, but I don't get the Recovery Manager either.
Should I download it and install from somewhere or is there another way to create the recovery stick for this notebook?
    This question was solved.

    Hi Neith,
You can use the HP Recovery Flash Disk utility for Windows 7.  There is more information about the utility on this HP web document.

  • Mobile broadband (un2430) not working with Windows 10 on Folio 9470m

I have had Windows 10 installed on my HP Folio 9470m since October last year (insider program). One thing that I never been able to get to work is the mobile broadband device (un2430). It simply says "Radio off". All attempts to re-install driver (which shows as "working"), disable/enable the device etc etc just leads to same result, that the "Radio is off".I googled this a couple of times and found that other users have the same problem. Also colleagues of mine with same model has also the same problem. It works just fine under Windows 8.1. Anyone has a workaround? I was really disappointed when W10 was released that HP did not update the drivers-page with W10 drivers:http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5271102 How can I find out when/if HP will release W10 drivers, including support for mobile broadband, for the HP Folio 9470m?

Thank you for your reply. I've tryed several SIM cards, and arrived to the conclusion that it doesn't work with portuguese operator TMN (all the SIM i've tried from TMN lead to the same result)!
I guess that there is some misconfiguration on WM config files. I found one xml with default configuration for worldwide carriers, and maybe it is possible to change some of those parameters to make it work... I just don't know wich one!
Maybe I'll have some luck, of someone reading this, and that is able to give me a tip to solve the problem.
The SIM card just work well on a 3G usb stick, or even in a celular phone!
    Thank you again.

  • ICloud Control Panel 2.0 for Windows 64 bit

Does iCloud Control Panel 2.0 work with Windows 7 64 bit? If so can you give me the link to the direct iCloud Control Panel for Windows 64 bit.

Download link for iCloud Control Panel 2.0 for Windows. There is no mention of 32/64 bit versions on the page so presumably this is a 32-bit program capable of running on all flavours of Windows from Vista SP2 upwards.

  • Creating Recovery USB

I have tried a few times now to create a recovery usb for my new laptop, however it gets so far then i get the below error:  "we are experiencing errors in recovery media creation, please try again". like i said, i have tried a few times, but get the same error message, any ideas how to get past this!  The usb stick i am using is new. Thanks

You mean you are trying to "burn the recovery discs" (so to speak) to the USB drive, and to do this from within Kubuntu?
    Other options:
    1)  back up everything you have in Kubuntu onto an external drive, then use the recovery partition to reinstall Windows 7, then reinstall Kubuntu and copy your stuff back.  I have done something very similar a few times.  Windows 7 wants to use the whole drive (or partition), but I recommend a solid backup to be safe!  When you reinstall Kubuntu, you can adjust partition sizes.
    2) order factory recovery discs, then restore.  But, you will likely face the situation as above.  Be sure to have backups!
    3) possibly some 3rd alternative... use an external drive, use factory recovery to restore to external drive (if possible), then burn recovery discs to USB drive?  Not sure if this will work.  Be sure to back up first, in any case!
To avoid similar situations, I would recommend burning the recovery discs (to USB) as soon as you get it running again.  I was able to burn to a 16gb drive; it was something like 13GB.

You will be left with one raw partition, select to install and windows will do the rest while installing the operating system. post your results! Sometimes you do get a bad copy of the recovery media and Toshiba has sent out a replacement before.
