I am trying to log on as the admin on windows 8 but the users and groups folder is'nt there

I am able to login as a Normal user, can not login as administrator.Hence can not install any software or change my user settings or create a new user.
What is the default admin password. How can i reset it form my user account

The methods above don't work at all. Eventually I used a paid tool - PCUnlocker Live CD, and it successfully bypassed my lost admin password.

Whenever I launch firfox through non admin login, I get an alert message.

I installed the printer everything works until I try to access certain settings in the Embedded Web Server. I pops up a box asking for admin login. Initially, the status page claimed the Admin password was set even though I never set that up. Through chatting with tech support rests cleared this, it is now reporting Not Set. However, I still can not login to check/change settings etc.
I think this printer had been purchased then returned to the store because the manual was missing. I downloaded the manual and did not find any mention of how to access the password settings. So far tech support has not been able to answer my question,

From what I am reading, you may need to call in to get a factory reset done. These resets can only be done over the phone. You can find the number at eprintcenter.com under the support section.

Admin Login Gone, Guest Acct Only...

I did a healthy search on my little problem here and mine appears to be a little different from the rest.
I have my MacBook pro (Running the latest ver. of Tiger) set so that i need to authenticate my login and pass every time I open up the laptop or I deactivate the screensaver.
Today, I opened'er up and for some reason my login and password didn't work. I thought that was weird and I rebooted (Ctrl-Opt-Power Button). Low and behold my Admin Login was gone! I only have access to this Guest Account that I created a while back.
So, I login to the Guest Account and check out the Accounts Panel in System Preferences and nothing comes up. I click the button and the window hangs ("Loading Accounts" appears at the top, but nothing happens). I click 'Show All' to return to all the icons and then click Accounts and the window renders, but it's completely blank.
*I did a lot of searching and I found the single-user-mode-using-NetInfo-Manager solution* and that didn't do anything. After I do the +"nicl -raw..."+ command, nothing seems to happen. While I was in Single User Mode, in the shell, I checked out my Users folder and my Account is still there.
So, bottom line, I only have access to an unprivileged Guest Account and OS X can't seem to boot so I can see my Admin Account. I would much rather not reinstall OS X since I have a lot of graphic design, music and a lot of my photography work in that account.

nicl is the "NetInfo Command Line" interface. I wanted to see why you were getting the "ni_listprops: No such directory" message, and it is telling me that although the /users part of the NetInfo hierarchy exists, it seems to have lost the entries for your two real users.
We could put them back, tediously, using nicl, but who knows what other "users" are missing. So your best bet is to restore the NetInfo Database. Funnily enough I just posted how to do this for another user. Note you've already got your list of UIDs versus Users: 501 is Ghostmeat, and 502 is Guest.
Your NetInfo database is corrupt. so we will need to give you a new one. This involves re-creating the user accounts, and the order in which they are created matters. I recommend you print this out in a largish mono-spaced font so you don't miss any spaces (or add extra ones). Note that case is important.
Start up in Single User Mode and type carefully, with a return at the end of each line:/sbin/fsck -y
Repeat the above until it says your disk is OK. Then:
/sbin/mount -uw /
cd /var/db/netinfo
mv local.nidb/ local.nidb.bad

ls -ln /UsersThis last command will give you one line for each user, plus one for the "Shared" directory, which doesn't interest us. Each user will have a line like one of these:

If there are any further users, these can be added, in the order of their UIDs, i.e. 502, 503 …, using System Preferences > Accounts. Again, be careful to use the same shortname. If there are any gaps in the UID sequence 501, 502, … you will need to create dummy users to fill them. These can later be deleted.

Adobe Flash 10.1 works on admin login but not other logins

Latest Adobe Flash 10.1 (7/25/10) works on admin login but not other logins despite being installed "for all users". No change from 32-bit to 64-bit Internet Explorer 8 running under Windows 7. Repeated uninstalls/reinstalls/reboots has no effect. Using online uninstaller also has no effect. User Account Control is OFF. Interestingly enough, the same situation occurs on another computer with the same environment except running Vista. Any thoughts would be helpful to [email protected] Thank you!

Reopen windows on Login, broken.

There's something wrong with the "Reopen windows at Login" function on my mac.
We're using Mac OS X server, with mobility sync; so files are synchronised with the server etc, etc.
On login, TextMate, Spotify, and a broken Messages instance all open up. There's nothing in the login items, and I've tried clearing the saved application states locally, and on the server. But nothing will reset them. Even when I uncheck "reopen at login", they still reopen!
Anyone got any ideas why?

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

My MacBook Pro Retina's Bluetooth chipset unknown/odd login message on the login screen states Login Window Authentication Login window Name edit text has keyboard focus. In addition, the login screen is not remembering me

I have been experiencing several issues with my MacBook Pro Retina mid 2012. My MBPR is scheduled to go into the depot. However, I am wondering if anyone may be able to shed light on a few issues as this is the third "official" time my MBPR is going back for service ("one depot" trip; "one authorized" dealer; several in-store visits).
My Bluetooth is stating that the Bluetooth Chipset is Unknown (0). I also have had Bluetooth Preferences mysteriously change on me. In addition, while Bluetooth is off there are two serial modems turning on. I have turned them off, but they continue to pop up.
In addition, when I log in, my MBPR is not remembering me and my login name is not appearing on the slate-gray screen. The name and password are blank and the following message appears in the lower left hand corner. "login window authentication login window Name edit text has keyboard focus." As a side note, I am the only user. The login issue is a recent occurrence as we just totally wiped it again via a Command + R, and I don't believe I have an accessibility setting set to anything that would cause this, but wanted to check.
Should I be concerned here? Has anyone else had issues like this? I don't want to worry if I don't have to. I have had so many issues over the course of nine months. 5-6 wipes. Airport card replaced and I am about to pull my hair out if my MBPR doesn't come back worldly like clock work this time. I just can't send my days trying to get a $2300 product to work for me any longer. No idea what is wrong with it, but it is driving me insane. There are a ton of other warnings. Before I go through this again, can someone tell me if this is normal (all of it -- above too); or if these are symptoms is a keystroke logger or hardware issues?
I ask because originally, when my computer went in for diagnostics (more than once), Apple stated the hardware was fine (other than Airport Card -- finally). However, if I've done 5-6 total wipes; created new users; do not have sharing set-up; have not played around in Terminal; and am up-to-date with versions -- and various issues KEEP COMING BACK -- I am left wondering if a keystroke logger would be possible here?!? I thought maybe a faulty logic board, but why would diagnostics be okay, then? Not trying to be hyperbole, just desperate.
Please help me rule keystroke logger out or at least, tell me so I know, so I can take appropriate action. If you think it could be the logic board with symptoms above, that would be a great too.

Just use the same Apple ID and password that you used to access this forum - that's your Apple ID.
The user name and password on your computer has nothing to do with your Apple ID.

Your problem has nothing to do with the faults or limitations of a web browser.

This is the general policy on which all websites are built. Even if you try to login the same website from another web browser, you won't be able to login from the second platform either. I just check it. Tried on Mozilla and Internet Explorer.

you may need to check the transfer structures,
right click infosource and 'change', click 'comm.structure'/expand,
click 'transfer', move the 0BASE_UOM from left to right side,
or if you wont use the comm structure anymore, you can right click infosource and 'delete comm structure'

Pop of Admin login page

I have created a page where I have buttons like delete and create report buttons. I am able to delete or add row in report(on same page), but whenever I click on delete or Add button, application ask for Admin username and password. Afte giving username/password, operation gets successful. But I dont want this login page to pop after clicking delete or add button.
I have not written any process which ask application for this pop up. Infact i dont have any idea why pop up is coming.
To tackle this problem,I tried entering following in OPTIONAL URL REDIRECT in Delete button.

But after that delete button became inactive. I am not able to understand, what is going wrong here:-(

On Customer Page, When you try to Add a Customer and push create button, it takes you first to Admin login page. Same is case with Delete button.
However, insertion and deletion operations are getting completed after providing Login details. But, I dont want application to ask for login details for addition and deletion of customer.

SSRS Windows Authentication Login

Hi guys, I have been battling with this issue for the past 2 days.
I have deployed my ssrs reports to my test server.
Anytime I try to access the report manager or reportserver url from another client pc, I am being prompted with a Windows Security Login.
My client user isn't an part of the domain, but I want to disable that Windows Security prompt
Steps I have taken
1. I changed the rsreportserver config authentication type to <RSWindowsNTLM>
2. I have added an execution account(Local administrator) in the Report Configuration Manager
3. I have added the Credentials Stored Securely on the report server settings.
After doing all this, I am still prompted with the Windows Security.
Please What Do u thing I am missing here?

As the error message said, the issue occurs because the remote SMTP server requires authentication, however, the report server is configured to use Anonymous authentication. To address this issue, we can create a virtual SMTP server on the report
server computer which has IIS and IIS Manager installed, and relay mail to the desired SMTP server.

User logins fail; admin login is okay

I'm running 10.3.9 all the latest updates on a 1 Ghz DP G4 with 1Gig RAM.
Admin login works fine; three user logins go nowhere... beachball just spins and I have to power off the comp to get out.
If I log in as Admin user and switch to another login, password is accepted but the desktop remains blank.
Running the comp in target mode, I can see the files of the various users.
Disk Utility looses connection (as mentioned in another post), not certain if this is also an iTunes update issue.
Any ideas?

After following the information to move iTunes to the desktop, I was able to run Disk Utilities and repaired persmssions.
However, there was no change in the ability for users to login. These users are managed, not standard.
I reinstalled OS 10.3 in archive mode, checked logins (which were fine) and installed the 10.3.9 update. Logins are broken again.
I can change the users to standard and they can login with no problem, but the moment I restrict anything (such as cannot change the dock) the logins fail.
Changing the users to standard allows logins; make them managed and they fail.
Certainly seems like a permissions issue, but repairing permissions does no good.
Any suggestions other than doing a clean install?
