Windows 8 and android

I have skype on windows 8 which is logged in as my full name with a gmail address, this is the one i use mainly.
i tried adding it to android but it always wants me to login with skype name or microsoft account. neither of these are part of the windows 8 skype.
i cant even log into the website as i dont have a skype name or microsoft account for the gmail address.
however if if i login with my hotmail address it works but wont show my contact that are in the gmail one.
i dont understand how this whole thing works. i just want to login with my gmail address and see my contacts.

Still having issues with this, I recently installed Skype on the iPad and none of the contact I have on the windows 8 desktop show up on this. No idea what is going on

  • Text for ipad, windows and android

    Hi
I'll publish a folio for ipad , windows and android.
If I have understood correctly, Is the best way to create an iPad version first and use the same folio to the other platforms.
I have made a folio of 1024x768 and has 16pt for body text. PDF format.
The problem is that the text is ugly in Android and Windows versions.
What should I do to get the best deal on the windows and android versions?
    Regards
    Ake

    I have attached three screenshots.

  • Wrapping Tool for Windows and Android Platform in Microsoft Intune

    Hi,
I know that there is wrapping tool for iOS.
Is there any similar tool for Windows and Android platform?
I hearad that the one tool "XapSignTool" for Windows. can we use this toll in intune?
    Regards,

First, the plist is a by product of the Apple development process just like the plist is, thus you need to get this from the developer.
Second, you don't have a choice. Getting ipas for Apple store apps is nearly impossible -- you can't just download them from the Apple store and use them. You can try to ask the developer for them but developers are very reluctant to do this. I can guarantee
you that you won't get the ipa for Outlook from Microsoft and nearly all other developers have the same reluctance. There is no reason for them to give them to you -- the store offers many, many advantages for developers/publishers of the apps that go away
completely if they give out the ipa.
Why don't you want to install apps from the store?
Regardless, as mentioned, you really don't have a choice.

  • Stream 7, dual boot, windows and android

Given that the HP Stream 7 can be equipped with lots of storage, why not dual boot it with Window and Andoid so I can have the best of both worlds
can this tablet be configured to do that?

Before going to a lot of trouble, I'd get a boot disk on USB with Android X86 on it.  Then boot off the USB.
I'd also suggest using 4.22 or 4.4, not 5.0.  "Everyone" is still working on 5.0.x.
I've not had much luck on a few devices and Android x86 - hence my suggestion.  I have NOT tried it on the Stream 7

  • Dual-Booting Windows and Android on Yoga Tablet 2 13?

So I am a big fan of the lenovo yoga tablet so I started looking into the new versions of the tablet and I came upon something curious. both the yoga tablet 2 pro and the yoga tablet 2 13 (windows)  have the same processor (a 64-bit processor) as well as very similar technical specs(the main difference being the windows edition has 4GB of ram instead of 2GB and a larger battery no doubt due to the removal of the integrted pico projector). as well Lenovo has the source code for the android build in the pro available on the website.
So my question is if both are running off the same 64-bit processor is there anything stopping someone from compiling the yoga 2 pro source code and installing the yoga 2 pro android OS onto the Windows version of the tablet (dual-booting both) aside from secure boot needing to be disabled?
after scouring the internet and asking a few lenovo representatives I have found absolutely no information on this (the lenovo reps I spoke to couldn't even confirm the specs of the processors but I found that data from the intel ark database) and it is something I really would like to do if possible (especially with android 5.0 having x86 support integrated in the vanila build)
So anyone have any information on anyone trying this or something similar being attempted?

so, lenovo putted a really bad bios on thoses tablets.
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-based-Tablets/Alternatives-OSes-and-CMS-under-Yoga-1051/td-p/190...
To make it short, the uefi bios used on yoga tablets support only x86 so, the x86-64 instruction set can't be used, on windows. Without CSM (compatibility support module) you can't even try to boot some oses. For linux you need to mod it, i'll try later but, i can't build a new bios and lenovo is not present on this board

  • ActiveSync not working for Apple Devices - Windows and android devices not having issue

Recently we have had reports of users not being able to send or sync emails to / from Apple iOS devices. When we look at the ActiveSync logs, we see the affected people getting HTTP 503 errors. Yet if this person works on a Windows Mobile device or an android
Mobile device - they do not have the problem. Similarly, if the person uses the new "Outlook" app on an Apple iOS device, they don't have the problem. It only occurs with the native mail app on iOS devices.
    We have Exchange 2013 CU5 - 4 x CAS Servers on Windows 2012, and 6 x Mailbox servers on Windows Server 2008 R2 (hardware doesn't support WS2012).
We have logged a call with MS Support and they are looking into it, but was just wondering whether anyone else has seen this issue.
PS - Before anyone suggests it - we have new servers on the way for the mailbox servers, and will install WS2012R2 and CU8 on it when they arrive.  But because our executive is being affected now, we need to look at this now.

I did inital think it might be a widows phone issue but there are no other settings for me to use.  I have also tested using a windows 8 surface and I get the same issue.
I have raised the event log level on the exchange server to expert and I have seen 2 messages when I try to connect.
I get Event ID 1100:  Exhcnage ActiveSync device requests for your uses are being blocked.  This problme frequently occurs when HTTP OPTIONS method is not allowed.
I know it is allowed as the test exchange connectivity worked and passed that test.
The other error Event ID 1309 ASP.NET warning.  Part of the exception messge is DeviceTypeMissingOrInvalid
I have come across a comment that says for certificates to work you need to use windows intune or SCCM which we don't have.  Do we know if this is true?

Remember you can only build an iPad app using your Single Edition solution (which is included in your CC membership). So you'd need a Pro or Enterprise version of DPS to be able to create the Android version.
You can create pop-ups in InDesign using the slideshow options and a multi-state object. But it's all manual labour so you'll spend a lot of time on this, also depending on the layout of your design.

  • Will there be mobile Apps for windows 8 / 8RT and Android? And if so, when?

Does anybody know, if there are plans to bring the new mobile Apps to windows 8 and Android tablets?
I'm very disappointed of Adobe, that they made them only available for ipad users. A samsung galaxy note or a windows 8 tablet would be much more useful for working with them, because of the pen and the higher computing power.
I won't subscribe to creative cloud, until I can use the mobile Apps on my microsoft surface RT!
This whole, 'only iOS Apps' thing is sooo annoying...

That is a very disappointing answer. So I don't know, if I can use my surface for working, until adobe releases the apps. And if they don't, I suffer.

  • Profilemanager for windows based computers and android devices

Is there anyway  to set up windows based computers or android devices in profile manager?  I assume not so is there another way to do this?

No ProfileManager is for Apple devices only. If you want to cover Windows or Android instead of or as well as Apple devices then you need to look at an alternative like MobileIron.

  • IP address and android devices - blondie needing h...

Hi all, totally new to this and im not very technically minded woman
Basically my 2 sons got asus nexus 7 tablets end of march.set up and both worked fine until 5/6 weeks later when one lost connection for no reason to Internet. Could still obtain signal from out home hub 2 but would just scroll through saying "authenticating" "obtaining IP address" "saved, secured by WPA/WPA2". After about 3 days after trying to forget it, resetting hub etc it suddenly connected again and was fine. It happened again a few weeks later but re-connected after a few hours this time. By middle if June it had happened again so rang bt. They lead me through all the same things and then told me it was a faulty tablet but I knew it wasn't as we had already taken it to the shop and it connected to their Internet straight away. Anyway the apparently changed the wireless settings from their end and miraculously it started working after an hour and a half on the phone. 2 days later same problem again but the other tablet this time ! Then 2 hours later it re-connected again. The first tablet them lost signal about a months later in the middle of July and now a month later we have the same problem with the first tablet so this time I think it must be the table, spent 1 hour in phone to google in America and went through lots of things and ended up resetting it to factory setting again and still wouldln connect. They sent me to asus who went though the same and said as we have switched off the other 3 wi-if devices in the house at the time and it still wouldn't get an IP address then it might be faulty and they would look at it but it no fault found would cost £45. It was switched off for 5 days and then suddenly last night my samsung s4 phone started doing the same, not obtaining and IP address and this is the first time it has happened to a phone.rang bt and spoke to the Indian call centre who went through the standard procedures of forgetting the hub on the device etc but didn't seem to understand that's this fault with a phone is the same as the fault that has been happening with the tablet for the past few months and my phone must be faulty. Well I was not impressed, he said he had done his best for me and nothing more he could do. After complaining I was paying for something I was not getting and was not happy as could see when this tablet goes away for repair there probably isn't a fault and I will be charged. he said he would put me through to technical support. Spoke to a lovely Scottish lady who straight away told me that bt do not support android. She said that possibly the new home hub 4 would be better but we would have to buy it at £35 plus £6.95 postage.
So my questions really are, what does it mean if bt do not support android? And why the heck don't they when they are one of the biggest operating systems, apparently they only support windows and mac
Also will this new hub make a difference?
Sorry for the long post, just thought it made more since to set the whole story out that 1 tablet keeps getting this problem montly, the other tablet only did it once and the mobile phone has now started doing it because the tablet is switched off and weirdly we switch the "faulty" tablet on and as it started the mobile phone sudden'y connected but the tablet woudnt !!!!!
Thanks for any help for a blondie who really doesn't undertsnad technology that much and if you do reply please make it as basic as possible for me to understand

When the BT staff say they don't support Android what they mean is they have no knowledge of of it and don't know any way to make it work, not that it won't work on the BT Homehub. I have Android phone and tablet and they work perfectly on the homehub.
To start from a clean sheet you will need to carry out a factory reset of the home hub by pressing a pin into the reces button on the rear for about 20 seconds. The hub will then restart.
On your devices go into setting then select wifi and find the setting for your homehub. Select it then select forget. Restart the device and scan for wireless networks and select your homehub and log on using the wireless key found on the homehub. You should connect.
Once you have done that if you have a wireless device, such as a laptop download inSSider and check to see which is the best least congested wireless channel. Take note of the number.
Now go into the home hub setting and set the wireless channel on the homehub to that number.
    See the links for inSSider

and how to set channel on homehub

  • Jabber for Windows and Iphone

We are running Jabber on cucm 9.1 WE use microsoft RDS and all works fine locally. users can sign in with their AD account and see their presence, use their deskphone and receive email. that works on both the windows and Iphone clients.
When they are logging in via a anyconnect VPN however. the im and presence shows no status for anyone, even though they are logged in but the phone and vociemail is fine, calls can be made and received. The ASA is not blocking anything so not sure where to start with this one

I just did a full deployment for jabber 4 windows iphone, ipad and android and to get my presence status working as well as photos shown and directory searches I had to make use of the BDI config in my jabber-config.xml file on the cucm as well as the UC services on the cucm and mine is working 100%.
That is all why I am asking.

  • Adobe Reader for iOS and Android & Rights Management

This week's release of Reader for iOS and Android devices incorporates support for accessing files secured by Adobe LiveCycle Rights Management.
As you are probably familiar, LiveCycle Rights Management protects sensitive documents by encrypting them with industry-standard AES encryption and enabling central management of their access permissions. Protections persist even when documents are accidentally distributed via email, the cloud, or saved on a lost mobile device.
Many of the core capabilities that you are used to on the desktop versions of Acrobat and Reader are now supported when you are on the go on your tablet or mobile phone. We intend to incorporate additional functionality in future releases of these mobile devices and look forward to your feedback.
We've had several questions thus far about how this works. More information about the product, as well as a link to an FAQ can be found at:http://blogs.adobe.com/security/2011/10/just-released-adobe-reader-10- 1-for-ios-and-android.html
    Jonathan

    Hello Jonathan,
is there an way to trigger iOS download to immediately open using "Adobe Reader"
instead of using the default Previewer (showing an plain empty white window) and then re-open it using "Open with" ?
Is there an MIME-Type to indicate IRM-protected PDF-files?
    Thanks,

  • Use different DPS accounts for iPad and Android versions of same app?

    Hi there,
When creating an Android version of an iPad DPS app should the account used to create the content (the 'Title ID' in the DPS App Builder) be the same for both versions, or different? In the content viewer I know that iPad content will show up even on Android, so I'm thinking that the answer is probably no, but I haven't managed to find it mentioned in the Adobe docs.
      Thanks,
    Toby

It depends, but usually the answer is that you want to use a different account for iOS and Android. Not all features supported in the iOS viewer are supported in the Android viewer. For example, if you use panoramas or iOS-specific web views in your articles, you'll want to be able to use different content for the Android viewers. Search for "dps supported features" for a comparison chart.
I use different Application accounts for my apps. I use the Share/Copy feature to transfer the folios from the iOS account to the Android (or Windows) account. Then I delete the few articles that don't work well in the viewer and replace them with articles generated from different source files. That works well and doesn't require too much extra effort.
If you want to reduce the amount of letterboxing in Android viewers, you'll definitely want to use different accounts and use, for example, 1280x800 folios instead of 1024x768.

  • ISE and Android Profiling

    G'day All,
I am building a wireless ISE solution that will service laptops (windows and OSX) via posture assessment, and mobile devices such as iphone, ipad and android.
I looking for help with the profiling of the android devices. I am using the profiler radius and HTTP probes, the radius probe appears to be sufficient for the laptops and the iphone/ipads.
HTTP has been introduced for the Androids as the radius probe wasn't receiving the user agent string from all the test android devices, for example a Samsung Galaxy S3 phone would send the user agent string and be profiled correctly, where as a Samsung Note 10.1 tablet wouldn't send the user agent string, so would be profiled as an unknown device.
I was attempting to keep it as seamless as possible for the end user. So I am not using device registrations, supplicant provisioning, etc. Obviously the posture assessment process isn't exactly semless, but once the users have downloaded the NAC client, etc, it is pretty seamless from a user interaction point of view, then on.
From the apple devices and the androids, I have an authorisation policy that says if the device is a profiled iphone/ipad/android, use CWA  and guest portal, users login via AD creadentials and accept the AUP and away they go. Some of the androids ignore this policy and then match on the policy for the laptops (posture assessment). Once connected and in posture pending status, the redirection to the NAC agent page fails, but the android is then profiled correctly via the HTTP probe. If I attempt to browse again, I get redirected to the guest portal via CWA as the devices has been profiled as an Android and the user can login, accept the AUP and away they go.
I'd love to hear from people who have implemented android profiling in the production environments, and how you have done it?
I am aware that not using device registrations/supplicant provision, etc isn't exactly validated design, but for the purpose of the Android profiling, it shouldn't be relevant.
I am presently using ise 1.1.3
Huge thanks in advanced guys, any assistance is always greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    JS

I have ran into this scenario also and I shy away from using the http profiling on the wireless device sensor because it causes issues with applications that fail to include the typr of device.
Have you checked the dhcp client identifier? I think the android has an android specific string so you may want to bump up the certaintity factor.

Thanks George, interesting thought.  I looked on Adobe's site and they "advertise" fillable forms for the iPhone and Android markets, but on the Windows Phone tab, that is mysteriously missing.  lol    Maybe it will come later?   Meanwhile, I'll google to see if there are any PDF viewers that can handle it now.   Thanks for the reply.  :-)
