Windows 8 and Bonjour Printer

All my Windows 7 computers recognize the USB printer connected to my AirPort Extreme via Bonjour, but my new Windows 8 laptop cannot find it.  Does anyone has the same issue?  Does anyone has a solution?  Thanks.

I second to this one.
Instructions fromthat site work without using Bonjour.
You pretty much create a new TCP/IP printer port, enter the AirPort's IP address in, pick a eneric network card, pick a driver for your printer and you're done.

I have just discovered that you don't even need Bonjour to print!
If your printer is plugged in via a USB connection to your Airport then just go to this site and follow these steps.

Yes - I know it says it's for XP but I have just done on both a Windows 7 and Windows 8 laptop.
Read carefully and follow the instructions - don't just follow the pictures - and it will work like a dream.
I have never been able to get Bonjour working on Win 8 although it was working on Win 7 until last week when I installed all the lastest updates and then . . . ZILCH! Prints would spool but not print.
This method is quicker for printer too rather than using Bonjour.

  • Multiple duplicate prints via apple airport and bonjour printer driver on HP Color Laserjet 1600

Please advise if this request will incur any costs as I have exhausted all self-help resources and articles in your knowledge base. Nothing applies to my issue. I used to be able to use this printer via USB or wireless network using apple airport base station and bonjour printer driver. When my company ugraded to Windows 7, USB seems to work ok and wireless under same setup works too, but each page prints out many duplicates >40 duplicates when in wireless state. I am also trying to print from my IPAD and this does not seem to work at all. If you tell me this printer will not perform, please just be honest and let me know. I don't mind buying another printer if needed but don't want to incur more high level cartridge costs (bought many due to duplicate issue) and could afford the new printer instead. Deciding between brother or hp depending on usable feedback here. Using Lenovo T410 for all that matters...Thank you, Marc

Unfortunately, without knowing the model of the printer I wont be able to let you know too much information on the issue or how to resolve it. Also, when you upgrade your OS you often have to update the programs you are using, I would recommend uninstalling the printer and using the software available on http://goo.gl/7R6HT.
    Let me know Marc!

  • Windows 7 and Bonjour--Printer issue--Need Help ASAP, Please!

Okay, add my name to the growing list of people with Windows 7 issues. (Actually, add my wife's name. I have a Mac, and I'm glad I do.)
Anyway--she has a new HP laptop with Windows 7 preloaded. We use Airport Express as a wireless router for our 5 year old HP PSC 1350 all in one printer, requiring the use of Bonjour 1.0.6 on her new laptop to print wirelessly. Except it is only printing about 2/3's of a page and quitting. This also fouls up the printing que, meaning nothing else will print on her unit. (I have not tried printing from the Mac while her HP is AFU.)
How do I rectify this, other than taking her HP back and getting the Mac she'd be happier with?
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, as she's in school and needs to print a lot of papers.
    Doc

There has been no satisfactory answer to this. So, no, my question isn't really answered.
Instead, we bought a new wireless printer, and I removed Bonjour and AirPort from her Windoze 7 unit.
I'm not so thrilled, but she's happy. And if she's happy, it's okay.
    I guess.

  • Airport,Macbook,Windows, and wirelss printer hp 2510 all in one.

I have had this printer for 3 years. It was working fine, with 4 different macs, even with my macbook on both mac & windows side( I have to use windows to run my work software). I have an airport express hooked up to my stereo, this stopped working, so I reset, my wireless printer stopped working the same time. I cannot get anything to now work wirelessly. I cannot even get my computers to find the printer thru Bonjour. Does any one know what happened? I could not find any new drivers on HP.

Hi, my Iphone 4 works with the HP iPrint app. You can print photos or documents. Scanning doesn't work. The printing functions of the latest apple-os doesn't work either. But the HP iPrint app is better than nothing and even for free.

  • Windows and apple printing

I have the Hp Deskjet 3050a all in one j611 series, 3052a is what I actually have.  I have it wireless for my desktop, and 2 laptops. My question is how can I set this up so I can use 2 differnet  Ipads with this printer but still be able to use Windows?

Verna, did you look through the steps in the thread that I posted above? To start make sure that the printer and the iOS devices (your iPads) are on the same wireless network. This is the same network connection you access the internet through. I would recommend turning Bluetooth off, as is expressed in my instructions on AirPrint troubleshooting because the common channel between it and AirPrint can cause interference.
Let me know if this points you in the right direction!

  • Printing wirlessly, Windows 2000 to Airport and Bonjour not working

My set-up is as follows: Airport Extreme with printer sharing on and my printer is listed. 5 year old iMac connected to Airport Extreme via ethernet and running 10.3.9. Printer Sharing, Personal File Sharing, Internet and Windows Sharing is on and the iMac prints fine. PowerBook is connected wirelessly with an Airport card and is running the the latest Tiger. Again, Printer Sharing, Personal File Sharing, Internet Sharing and Windows Sharing, is on and my PowerBook prints fine. BTW, I'm printing through a HP 7200.
My wife has a 3-year-old IBM Thinkpad running Windows 2000 with a wireless card installed. She can join my Airport network and connect to the internet fine. Sharing is on. I've installed the HP software and it shows up in the Printers pane and I also right clicked and turned on sharing for this specific printer. I can select it and it prints fine if I hardwire the printer to the IBM's USB port.
When I installed Bonjour and the pain for available printers comes up non are listed (my wife has several printers in her Printer pane as it is a work machine and she sometimes has to bring it to work and print. At home she usually uses her own Lexmark but I want her to be able to use my printer as the Lexmark isn't that great). I've tried everything including re-installing Bonjour (yes, even the latest Bonjour) and even the HP printer software/drivers. Nothing seems to work.
And I thought Bonjour was supposed to be "seemless"?Any ideas would be much appreciated. I've been fiddling with this thing off and on for a few months now to no avail. Thanks in advance!

I appreciate your suggestions but I have a slightly
more complicated wireless network: I have an iMac G5
in my home office, and my daughter has a PC with
Windows 2000 in her room with a wireless card.
Internet comes through a DSL modem in my office into
an Airport Extreme that is networked with an Airport
Express in my daughter's room. The Express is
needed to boost the wireless signal to her room.
Move the Express to a position two thirds of the way from your Office to her room.
If the signal is weak when it arrives at the Express, it can't do anything to boost if if the computer is in the same room... It won't do anything.
If you move the AX to a position where it can receive a stronger signal it can then boost that stronger signal to an area which otherwise would receive a weak signal.
An AX can not improve a weak signal by itself, it needs to recieve a strong signal to begin with, all it does is increase the prospective range of the wireless network.
    You say
    her
computer can recognize, using Bonjour, an HP printer
    then you say
However, her computer neither sees the HP printer
Can she see or not see the printer?
I would move the AX as described and see if that makes a difference.

  • HP PSC 1500 and network printing on both Mac and Windows computers

I have an HP PSC 1500 hooked up to a network on my Windows XP desktop, which is the hub for my home network. I've purchased a MacBook Pro and want to be able to use the HP printer but it doesn't appear as a printer option on the MacBook.  I've loaded Bonjour Printer Wizard but it doesn't recognize my printer.  Does this mean I now need to purchase a new printer or am I simply overlooking a network setting????
    Any help would be appreciated.

I managed to figure it out. Read a post by "sebas10" dated Nov 5, 2006. Here are the steps I followed.
    1. Install Gimp-print, ESP Ghostscript and HPIJS Foomatic. You will to download them off the Web. Google them to find the sites.
    2. Go to "System Preferences". Select "print & Fax".
    3. Click on "+" to add a printer.
    4. In "Protocol" choose "HP Jet Direct - Socket"
    5. Type in the IP address of your print server.
    6. In "Print Using" choose HP.
    7. Then choose HP PSC 1100 Foomatic/hijs.
And lo behold I finally managed to print to the HP Deskjet F388 All in One after about 6 months of strugling to find a solution. Shame on HP for not providing a solution for this.

  • Print jobs come out as blank pages with Windows 7, Bonjour & Canon iP4700

    Hi there,
I have a Macbook Pro with OSX 10.6.1 and have a Canon iP4700 inkjet printer connected to this via USB and this works fine.
I've shared the printer from the Mac so that I can print to it from a Dell laptop on the same home network which is running Windows 7 RC.
I've installed the Canon print driver (I used the one for Vista as it was the closest match) on the Windows 7 laptop, then I installed Bonjour. I used the 'Add a printer' shortcut icon on the desktop and it saw the Canon printer and I added it.
I thought all was working well, except whenever I try and print to the printer form the Windows 7 laptop, it just prints a blank page instead of the text I have on the page.
Has anyone got any advice for getting this working properly?
    Thanks,
    Stephen

I had the same problem, however I am running XP. Also, I was using a separate program to manage my wireless connection on my PC called 'Wireless Configuration Utility'. I simply disabled this utility and used the Wireless Network Connection utility that came with Windows and the problem was solved.

  • Bonjour printer on Windows XP's stops working after reboot

    Hello!
We have a AirPort extreme with an HP LaserJet 1010 connected to it. AirPort Extreme also serves as a gateway and DHCP server for the LAN.
Installing the printer on the local machines running Windows XP thru Bonjour works fine and all the documents are printed correctly. The printer is being installed as a single default printer on the system.
However, printer stops working after Windows XP machines are rebooted (the next morning). The installed printer keeps accumulating documents in queue and not spooling them to the printer. Issue could only be resolved by adding a new printer (which also works fine).
It seems not to be a connectivity problem as XP machines access the Internet thru the AirPort Extreme without any problem. Bonjour printer setup wizard also instantly sees the printer and is able to install it correctly. Mac's in the same network (iBook G3 and PowerBook G4 with Tiger) are not affected by the issue.
Any ideas on how the situation could be corrected?
    - Baglan

Did anyone find a solution to this.
I have a HP Laserjet 1020 attached to my Airport. Using the Bonjour program on my Windows XP computer it found the printer attached, and added it to my printers. When I print all seems ok - it appears in the printer queue, then disappears as though its printed - but nothing comes out of the printer.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

  • Having trouble with dell printer and bonjour

    Hi,
We recently got iMac computers for our office, however we still have a windows computer we need to be able to use to print. I have the printer, a Dell 1320c, installed on my Mac, and it prints just fine.
I also have Parallels and Windows 7 installed on my Mac. I can print just fine from within Windows (Bonjour was not needed) Curiously, when I print a Windows Test Page from within Parallels, it says that the printer name is the Dell Color Laser 1320c, however, the Printer Model says: HP Color LaserJet 2800 Series PS. I have no clue where that came from, but I wonder if that may be causing a problem.
Within OS X 10.8.2, I have enabled Printer Sharing to everyone. I turned off sharing in Parallels, though that didn't make a difference.
On the Windows 7 PC, I have tried to manually add the printer with TCP/IP, but it wouldn't recognize a printer. I installed Bonjour, and was able to install the Dell printer, however, when I print, I get a bunch of pages that starts like this:
    -12345X@PJL JOB MODE=PRINTER
    @PJL SET STRINGCODESET=UTF8
    @PJL COMMENT DATE=12/26/2012
    @PJL COMMENT TIME=17:02:04
    @PJL COMMENT DNAME=Test Page
    @PJL SET JOBATTR="@LUNA...........
    and so on...
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I saw several posts about disabling bi-directional support, but that didn't work.
Does anyone have any ideas of what else I could try?? Thank you!

    Hi,
No, you can't connect direcly from your computer to your printer using network cable. It has USB connection:
        http://www.cnet.com/products/hp-color-laserjet-cp1518/specs/
I believe your Macbook Pro also hae USB port(s). Please use a cable which is similar to the follwing cable to connect them:

  • Bonjour printing error in console.log and cups error_log

    Hi everyone,
I have a client who has been successfully printing to an HP LaserJet 4000 over his home LAN for some time now. However, this evening he was no longer able to print, with the print queue stopping immediately when he would try.
iMac (Intel) Core Duo, Mac OS X 10.4.8, connected through a D-Link DI-524 wired/wireless router. There is a D-Link DP300U print server connected to one of the LAN ports on the router, to facilitate printing to a printer that has not been connected to the LAN recently.
After using Printer Setup Utility to reset everything, repair permissions, etc., the system still would not print. No updates have been installed since the last week of January 2007, and printing has been fine since then.
The only clue I was originally able to come across was found in console.log:
    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
No log handling enabled - turning on stderr logging
    snmpInk: Unknown host (SMB-Maui\0321.local.)
    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Then, I looked under /var/log, under the cups disclosure triangle, at error_log:
    E [14/Feb/2007:20:50:44 -0800] [Job 2] Unable to locate printer 'SMB-Maui\0321.local.' - Unknown host
    E [14/Feb/2007:20:50:44 -0800] PID 282 stopped with status 1!
    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
There is only the one Mac on the LAN, which is not named "SMB-Maui"-anything. I was able to get printing to function via AppleTalk once it was enabled, but the client has been printing successfully via Bonjour for some time and so there seemed no reason why this should simply "happen". No new software has been installed, as he's really quite good about leaving the system alone to do its thing.
Disk Utility repaired multiple print-related permissions errors before I began using Printer Setup Repair.
I'm looking for troubleshooting steps to take beyond this point. While the client is satisfied that he can now print via AppleTalk, I am not and would very much like to resolve the lower-level problem. Please advise?
    Thanks much for your time,
    MBJ

    Hi Phil,
Thanks much! I think you might be on the right track, as I got some unexpected results from Bonjour Browser.
First of all, there's no Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) entry at all—in fact, several others I have present on my own, local system are not to be found on the remote iMac. What the iMac does show is the following:
    local - 3
    Apple Remote Desktop (net-assistant.udp.) - 1
    iMac
    (IP address):3283
    [(IPv6 MAC address)]:3283
    Remote Frame Buffer (rfb.tcp.) - 1
    iMac
    (IP address):5900
    [(IPv6 MAC address)]:5900
    Workgroup Manager (workstation.tcp.) - 1
    iMac [MAC address]
    [(IPv6 MAC address)]:9
    (IP address):9
I have reapplied the 10.4.8 Combo Update, with no effect to the problem itself, nor to what is showing in Bonjour Browser.
One other possible clue: A visitor on the home LAN did attempt to print from Virtual PC 7 on a portable they had brought with them. They were unable to do so from Windows XP, but could print properly from Mac OS X. There is no known, causal relation to the problem at hand here - I mention it to be thorough, no more or less.
I'll standby for your further thoughts!
    Thanks much for the assist,
    MBJ
    Hi Mike,
Bonjour is a service discovery system. It doesn't
    print. For
that you use ipp or lpr, etc. The reason why
    Appletalk works
is that it has its own discovery system. It's older
    and
apparently more reliable. Bonjour uses muticast ip
    but
unless muticast requests are forwarded can't get
    outside
    a local subnet.
Once on your net was a machine - probably a samba
    server -
named "maul". Must have been, it's in a mib
    somewhere. Oh
wait - maybe it's cached in the dlink from its old
    days on
    the dark side!
Judging from the direction of the slash it was a
    Windows
    machine (I don't think that's an octal 321). CUPS
    thinks
that's where the printer is. Normally cups discovers
    the
printers via bonjour, and bonjour must be coming
    back
    with the wrong info!
But bonjour isn't that smart, something must be
    tricking it.
There's a wonderful free utility called "Bonjour
    Browser"
which will show you which services are being
    announced.
    Give it a try:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/2162

Let me know what it shows under ipp.

  • Can't find Bonjour printer from Windows XP machine over wireless

I have a hard-wired windows PC, a wireless Macbook Pro, and a wireless Windows PC (XP) all on the network together. All have Internet access. Only the hard-wired PC and the wireless Mac have access to the shared disk and printer hanging off the AEBS.
I installed the "Bonjour" software found here on Apple's site, but when I run the utility on the wireless windows PC, it tells me there are no Bonjour printers available.
It connects (and authenticates via WPA) no problem, so I know there is network connectivity. Why won't it see the shared printer that the other machines can see?
Is the "Bonjour Printer Wizard" the right thing to be using?
    Thanks

Instead of using Bonjour (which may be blocked by having ultra-aggressive firewall software installed on your PC) try using the manual printer setup method detailed at:

It prints fine from my MacBook.

I'm having the same issue, but with a Time Capsule.  My MBA can print fine to it, but my Windows 7 desktop cannot.  It sees the printer, and things queue up but never come out.  Worked fine about a month ago but stopped.
