just wondering how D12 projectors runs on Windows 8?
and in that context: would be great to create apps with D12 for Windows 8 tablets...

on the W8 machines, are you using the classic interface to manage the music
library? did you allow the Windows 8 Xbox Music App to index your music? (the
default with the app is to download info from the Internet unless you turn off
getting metadata from the Internet). The W8 Music App seems to make unwanted
changes in the indexing of the library.

HTML-DB OAE Javascript to close current window and open a new window

We work with 1.6.
What we want is to close the current window and open a new window with the URL mentionned in the window.open('http://www.cf.qc/pls/portal/PORTAL.....,'newwindow').
The new window opening fires only once although we call it many times.
Our javascript is:

Try this on for size:
I have included two functions.
windowRebuild() - opens a new window, maximizes it based on the screen size, removes all toolbars, and then closes the old window.
myLocation(appName, pageName) - builds a url referencing an HTMLDB application, specfic to what server you are currently on. Very useful when you have an application on 3 different servers(dev, test, prod servers), you wouldn't want the server name hardcoded if you plan to export the app to another server.
Also, you need to be careful when using &APP_ID. I am not completely certain how that is resolved at runtime, but I've found it only works when the javascript is in the HTML Header of a page and not stored in the template of the page.

How can I remove all photos and directories from iPhoto?

How can I remove all photos and directories from iPhoto as if it was a brand new install?
I am new to iPhoto and was unaware of how it works, honestly I still am a little confused as to when pics I am using 1/2 the time, some from iPhoto and some from MyPics.
Anyhow, I am looking to remove all photos from iPhoto because during the migration of all my photos from PC to MAC, somehow my timeline became messed up and all my photos that have been logged my dates since 1998 are now all messed up.
Although all my year folders are still in tact, IE 1998-2006, the subfolders and like pics are all intertwined somehow.
And when I search iPhoto for a given year, photos from 2,4, 8 yrs back show up in 2006.
Anyhow, I have selected and deleted all photos and folders within iPhoto, and then import the desired photos from MyPics, only to have the photos double up in the library. ( The old ones that should be deleted and the new imports)
I simply don't get it, they fill the trash and disappear when it's emptied, then reappear when iPhoto re-opens!
Can someone help????
I have completely reworked all my photos so that they are all in the correct folders outside of iPhoto, and now I want to import those and only those pics with that file structure.
IE Structure = YEAR > MONTH > DAY ( or if needed) > DAY/EVENT

Do you want to remove the existing full sized image files also? If so then just drag the iPhoto Library folder from the Pictures folder to the Trash and empty it. But be warned you'll lose all of your image files.
You are dragging the files to the iPhoto Trash bin and then using the iPhoto->Empty Trash menu, right?
In copying your photos to myspace and then back the original capture date may not be retained and then either the created date or modified date will be used by iPhoto. If the files in the current library are the originals from your camera then those have the best chance of retaining the correct Captured Date. You can check that out by dragging the Originals folder from your iPhoto Library folder to the desktop and then trash what remains of the iPhoto Library folder. Then launch iPhoto and it will ask you to create an new library. Then import that Originals folder and it's subfolders by dragging it into iPhoto's open window. You'll keep the same rolls that was. The roll dates may change but you can check the captured date of the files by using the calendar in the Source pane.
You won't be able to keep your folder structure within iPhoto. Each outside folder will result in a roll with the same title as the folder. You'll be able to create folders in the Source pane to put albums inside. You can create a smart album to include all photos in a certain date range, line one month.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

Windows and Mac OS Portability

Hello,
I expect a strange issu with Director 11 and Director 11.5 on MacOS X 10.5 and later.
We worked with Macromédia Director MX 2004 on Macintosh since the begining.
We have developed an application wich works great. Since we change the computer, we've been on Director 11 to continue the work.
First of all, we tried to convert old files with Director 11 on macintosh. When launching our application, some field does not display correctly, some field were missing, and we were unable to navigate into our application.
We have installed Director 11 on a windows System. We convert the old application and try to launch it. It works fine, all the field are ok.
We put the converted files to the Mac OS system and load it, but we have still the same issue. We are not able to work on the application with director 11. We tried the 11.5 version and the issue still occured. No error message, but still unable to use the proper field in our application.
Did someone expect the same issue ? Is there many differences between Windows and MacOS Director Version ?

First of all, thanks for your answer. Here some screenshot to explain the issue :
I launch the program on clicking the Play button. Then here is the first screen.
When the mouse over the 'A' (next) arrow, it displays the encircled text.
I continu to navigate to further sequences.
You can see that the page are correctly displayed, with the number of them at the bottom.
Clicking on next arrow change the number, and the page.
There is a link to a menu. When you click on it, it display list of thematic and you can see that a field appears with mouse over the icone (red circled one).
Everything works fine with the program using Director Windows Version.
But When i use the same program with Director MacOs Version, these issues occured :
First, when mouse over the next arrow, no text is displayed (cf. first picture)
Then page number are not displayed :
To finnish, nothing appears in the last screen :
the 'A' content is missing
the 'B' field is empty
the 'C' field (wich appears on mouse over) is empty too, but when clicking it, this page is loaded.
To Resum the situation : i took the program made on MX2004 Macintosh. I put it on a PC system.
I use th extra/update animation option to convert the program into director 11.
I open the converted files with director 11 on Windows and it works fine.
I open the converted files with director 11 on MacOS X and i expect these issues.
I hope these explanation should help you to understand my problems, and i hope you should help me to find what's going on.

File Chooser is displaying names of the Files and Directories as boxes

Hi All,
Actually i am working on an application in which i have the requirement to internationalize the File Chooser in All Operating Systems. The application is working properly for all languages on MAC OS, but not working properly for the language Telugu on both the Ubuntu and Windows OS. The main problem is, when i try to open the File Chooser after setting the language to TELUGU all the labels and buttons in the File Chooser are properly internationalized but names of Files and directories in the File Chooser are displaying as boxes.
So please provide your suggestions to me.

Resizing a movie in a window and it's sprites

I'm working on a kind-of slide show project. The 'show' runs
in a resizable window. The projector (created with Director v10)
has a lot of sprites (>60). Most of them should not be resized
and should stay at a fixed position (e.g. at the right margin),
other sprites should be resized (e.g. the 'slide'). It is more or
less as the Director authoring environment window where windows are
docked.
My question is if someone has a concept on how to deal with
this. I appreciate any help.

Hi,
I have a set of behaviours for that.
They make a sprite keep its distance to the edge of the
stage, and you
can choose which edge (Left, Right, Top, Bottom). And then
there is
one other that sets a sprites position relative to the
centre.
I wrote them years ago for Dir 8, and are still in Lingo not
Javascript.
I could post them here, but they are not difficult to write,
and
besides, what is the fun? ;)
Basically it goes like this:
- store the starting position of the sprite or the offset to
its
reference (left edge, right edge...etc) on startmovie or
beginSprite
- detect the resizing of the window and send all sprites a
message
(sendAllSprites()).
- in the sprites' handler, calculate the new position of the
sprite
and put it there.

DeployTool deletes files and directories

Hi All,
I have been facing serious issues with the DeployTool, once on Windows 2003 and the other on Solaris 9.
On Windows 2003, while I was trying to deploy an EAR file using the DeployTool, the deployment failed. And it then subsequently not only deleted the WebAS files and directories but also the system files. I had to reformat the system and install WebAS 6.40 SP9 again on it.
Now on Solaris 9 (with WebAS 6.40 SP9), when I was undeploying an application using the DeployTool, then again it deleted some directories in the user home directories, including the user and WebAS profile and environment scripts. M still to get the system back in place.
Is this a known issue with the DeployTool and if yes what wud be the recommended way to proceed in either case?

You probably should rename the files.
A * is specifically not allowed in a file name. What's happening is that the file is stored with the unicode representation of the character. Unicode-aware apps like the Finder can deal with this but most other apps (including the file sharing daemons) cannot and that's why you see the unusual file names.
You're going to run into all kinds of other problems, too. Renaming your files i the best bet.

Windows Home Directories on a Mac

I have a Mac running 10.4 server acting as file server on a network on a Windows 2003 SBS domain. The Mac is not bound to active directory yet, and users network to it since it is a member of the workgroup.
My IT admin wants to set up roaming user profiles for my staff. He wants to store the windows home directories on the Mac.
What do I have to do to accomplish this. I assume I will have to bind the Mac to active directory as a server.
I would like to store the windows home directories on a partition that I regularly back-up.
Can someone walk me through this?

We are using Oracle 11g Discoverer 11.1.1.4. Requirement is to open the discoverer report in a new browser window and without connections page.
When we are running discoverer reports with this parameters we unwantedly get the connections page of the discoverer plus which we don't want.
Went through the documentation given in this page and followed it still the issue persists, and i see couple of threads with my issue and no updates.

New ipod seen in windows and itunes but not in sync diagnostics

I bought a second Ipod. Oldest one works fine. New one is seen in Windows and in ITunes. Diagnostics "finds" new Ipod, but on Sync diagnostics says "no Ipod found".
Ne Ipod looks like it's staring to sync, then just stops after 30 seconds and goes to "connected" screen.
Have done resets of Ipod and reboots of PC.
Driver shows no error in Device Manager.
Have tried three differenct cables and both USB ports on the pc.

I jus tried that. Computer acknowledged Ipod and Itunes performed restore. Afterward, same situation...no sync. Screenshots:

Hi, I've just purchased a Lacie Extreme D2 external hard disk, I'm looking to use it to move film clips from my Mac G5 to my Sony Vaio laptop. I'll connect the Mac using Firewire 1 and the PC using USB 1.
I understand there is an issue with setting the compaitibility of the hard disk to either Mac or Windows format but I'm wondering if I can set it to both, so it's possible to transfer these files? The hard disk is Windows and Mac compatible but does it have to be partitioned a certain way?

That issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

[SOLVE] Dual Boot Windows and ArchLinux with Syslinux

Ok, i installed ArchLinux on my laptop with Windows XP (syslinux) and I cannot find get Windows to boot or mount it. I have tried to do what i can to do this but cannot. I Installed XP first like a should and something i think might be needed to know is after i created the partitions scheme (10Gb (boot partition), 50GB (XP), 80GB(was unallocated)). The installation disk formated both 2 partitions in NTFS but i installed XP on the second and Windows reported them as C and D drives. Windows being D. Thought that was bit werid thinking Windows installed the mbr on that partition. When I installed ArchLinux, it did have the boot flag set on 10GB (or C drive).
Since I installed ArchLinux, I have been unable to find a solution to mounting/booting to Windows. Installed NTFS-3G and that didn't work when i tried mount /dev/sda3 windows and i did created a folder named windows but got ...

I really think Windows got corrupted but not sure. Thought about repairing the mbr on windows and booting to it then reinstall syslinux but really don't want too.

Here is the partition table:
/dev/sda1 one HUGE linux /boot primary partition (assuming ext4)
/dev/sda2 "name" of the extended partition
/dev/sda3 primary Windows partition (assuming NTFS)
/dev/sda5 logical Linux root partition (assuming ext4)
/dev/sda1 to /dev/sda4 are either all primary, or three primary and one extended. After /dev/sda4 all partitions are logical. If you're still wondering why is there no /dev/sda4, it's because you have 2 primary and one extended, so /dev/sda4 is reserved for another primary partition.
Windows problem:
The /dev/sda1 which Windows named C: is Windows equivalent of linux /boot. When you told linux to place its /boot on /dev/sda1 it formated boot files of Windows. Now you have Windows OS with no kernel. In other words there is no way to boot Windows if you don't reinstall it. Actually there is a way, but you would than screw up Arch.
Mounting problem:
You can never mount extended partition, only logical (an extended partition is made of logical partitions). You want to do:
sudo mount /dev/sda3 -t NTFS-3g -o rw,uid=YourUserName /path/where/you/want/this/partition/mounted
EDIT:
Try it this way:
- Backup all your data
- Delete every partition
- Start Windows installation
- Make only one partition (c:/ for Windows)
- Let Windows make another partition
- Make one more so you could have a data partition, which does not need to be formated to reinstall Windows
- Start Arch installation
- Get to partitioning

- /dev/sda4 extended (take the rest of the drive)
- /dev/sda5 logical /boot 512MiB
- /dev/sda6 logical / 20GiB
- /dev/sda7 logical /home (the rest)
Making a separate /home partition will come in handy when reinstalling Arch (any linux distribution), or switching between distros, because it is the equivalent of D:/ in Windows. Also consider LVM.
