Windows 8 and Elements 7

Does Elements 7 run on Windows 8? I have an PC that runs Windows XP on which I have all my photos organised within Photoshop Elements 7. These are backed up onto an external hard drive using the Elements backup facility. I have just bought a new PC running Windows 8. I want to install an Adobe suite of software to handle my photos and I'm thinking of using Lightroom 4 (as I have almost 53,000 photos!). I understand that Lightroom 4 cannot be loaded onto my old (XP) machine. It's been suggested that the best way to do this is to load my old Elements 7 on the new machine and then move the photos over. I can then add Lightroom and import the catalogue to there. However, I'd understood that Elements 7 wouldn't run on Windows 8. I don't want to try loading it if it's not compatible.

All versions of PSE except versions 1, 3, 5 & 6 have been tested and found to be compatible with Windows 8.

W7 has a different system e.g it does not use the documents & settings structure used by XP so you may need to let Elements decide the structure or use a custom location. Make a backup from Organizer and then use the restore command in W7.

The note refers to PSE6 onwards but give it a try. Some people have got older versions to work on W7.

Are Windows 7 and Elements 8 compatible?

Just bought a Dell Windows 7 and reinstalled Elements 8 on it. When printing photos from elements to an HP k850 printer the results are terrible colors.
Can anyone help re settings I should use in Elements. Tried Adobe color management and tried printer color management. Printer is slightly better but still not comparable to my previous experience with Vista.

After much wasted ink and paper and hours I realize that the problem involves the choosing of paper quality.
It is just not working properly when I choose any of the premium papers in the paper choice selection. If I choose plain paper and actually use the photo paper the prints are acceptable. I am assuming this is a problem with the driver included in Windows 7 for my HP K850. This was not a problem with my old Vista machine.
Have you had any problem with photo paper? Does anyone know what I can do about the driver?

Have windows 7 and Elements 8 email errors

I am getting an error msg Create an association in the default program.
I have tried Dell Charter internet service Adobe and still have msg when I try to send mail any help or any updates.

Elements 8 only lists Outlook Express, Windows Mail - neither of which are installed with Windows 7 - and the new Adobe Email Service; it does not seem to acknowledge any 3rd party email programs - even the optional Microsoft Live Mail - so it does not know what to do to send it.
The only way I have managed to get it working is to use the built-in emailer:
Open Organizer
Go to Edit > Preferences > Sharing
Select Adobe E-Mail Service from the drop-down menu in E-Mail settings
Fill out your details, the system will send you a confirmation email with an activation code
Once you have completed the setup you should be able to send emails - although I still get a message telling me that there is no default email program installed.

Problems With Clone Tool on Windows 7 and Elements 8

The clone tool is exhibiting strange behavior on a friends installation of Elements 8 on Windows 7.
Sometimes the clone tool refuses to clone, other times it will clone in over dark areas but not light areas. We tried resetting to factrory settings. This worked for a while be reverted to the strange behavior after a couple of days.
It's on the correct layer and the mode setting for the clone tool is Normal and when it works in a darker area it will make it even darker but will not darken a very light (white?) area.
Anyone know what's happening?

I guess you have some blending mode other than 'Normal' selected.Click on the top-left corner of tool option bar and choose "Reset Tool".

Windows 7 and Elements 2.0?

Hello there! I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium and I'm dying to get my Elements 2.0 on this laptop, but it won't let me. Autoplay doesn't autoplay, which is fine, because when I go in and open it, it welcomes me, asks my language, then gives me an option to install Elements. When I click it, the computer thinks a bit, the waiting circle spins by the cursor, and then...nothing. I tried getting Windows to run setup.exe and autoplay.exe in compatibility mode but neither worked, and I can't find how to run the whole laptop in compatibility mode, though I've been told that doesn't work on Home Premium? Any help is greatly appreciated...I've tried Elements 3 and 5 and hated them both; I miss 2.0!! Thanks!

Tha same applies to pse 1 as far as the hard drive size needing to be 1 TB or smaller.
On windows 7 with ie 10, you would need to downgrade sorta speak to ie 9, install pse 1 and then upgrade back to ie 10.
You can do that by going to Turn Windows Features on or off and unchecking Internet Explorer 10.
Then after installing pse 1 go back and check Internet Explorer 10
There is really no need to unistall pse 1 from your other computer, since your allowed to have pse 1 on two of your own computers.

Windows 8 and elements 11

Last week I installed Windows 8, after that Photoshop Elements 11 quits every time after about half an hour. Is it a Windows issue or coincedence?

I just rebuilt my PC as the machine was suffering random hardware crashes. So I took the opportunity to migrate to Windows 8 (with a format and clean install, not upgrade) and also upgrade a few other bits, e.g Elements from 8 to 11. Most stuff works, but Elements 11 just refuses to start.
Running the Elements launcher does nothing (it fails before anything appears). Running the Editor directly from the Program File folder shows the splash screen, but then Windows shows a dialogue saying the app has stopped working. I've tried compatibility mode and running as admin (it throws a UAC dialogue, which is odd for an app designed to run as a normal user under Windows 8).
The Event Viewer shows the crash coming from the call to ntdll.dll:

Windows 8 and Elements 11 with premier

Cannot get Elements 11 with premier to download. Keeps telling me my IE needs to be 4 or higher. Running windows 8, IE 10, with an embedded flash player 11.3, any ideas why this error keeps occuring and preventing me from downloading the software?

Windows 7 and Elements 5.0

I am running Elements 5.0 using Windows XP. I do a lot of photography and I have somewhere on the sunny side of 15000 digital photographs on my computer with most of them backed up in various ways. Many of them have been worked over with 5.0 and are typically 40-50 mb Tiff files My wife needs a new laptop which I will probably have to purchase with the Windows 7 operating system. I would like to be able to use this laptop with the Elements 5.0 and with these digital photographs. I have been unable to find any information regarding the ability of Windows 7 to handle 5.0 or digital files processed with 5.0. Would appreciate any insights into this question. Thank you.

A number of people (including me) have reported that 5.0.2 runs fine on Windows 7:

(Just be sure to get the 5.0.2 update from Adobe.com.) But beware that Adobe won't provide any customer support for PSE 5, regardless of Windows version.

Windows 7 and Elements 7

Will Elements 7 and Premiere Elements work with Windows 7? I just installed Windows 7 on my new Dell Studio. Of course, just like when I bought version 4, the new Elements came out (don't even have my upgrade rebate back yet). Dell upgrade says Elements 7 (PSE and Premiere) are incompatible. I have a 64 bit machine.

I think I will stick with PSE8. I have it mostly working now, thanks largely to your guidance. I am creeping closer on the 64 bit system. I reloaded QT and added some Canon camera software. I now don't get an error message when trying to "Import frame from video". The video player loads and the player buttons all work, but the screen stays black - no video image. I'm not sure what I will do with all my spare time once I get this to work
