Windows 8 and iTunes cannot detect iPhone

Hi, I am using Windows 8 and iPhone 4S. Recently both Windows and iTunes cannot detect my iPhone. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest iTunes and related software, but no use. I tried follow this article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 , but in doing the step "If the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is not listed", replugging the device, I still can't find Apple iPhone in Device Manager.

Hi, I have run the diagnostics and this is the result.

  • HELP! iTunes Cannot Detect iPhone~

i am using Windows Vista with my 1.1.2 iPhone & iTunes 7.5
iTunes cannot detect my iPhone when i plug it via the USB cable to my computer, while Vista can detect it and i can access the photos inside iPhone with the link my computer\Apple iPhone\Internal Storage\DCIM\100APPLE.
the interesting fact is that when i turn off the "program control" (a function in my firewall, ZoneAlarm). iTunes can then detect the iPhone can they can sync(ringtones, music, contacts successfully get into iphone)!
if i switch on the "prgram control" in zonealarm after they sync, disconnect iphone and reconnect it, an error message will be shown, something like "iTunes cannot connect to iPhone [^2], unknown error (0xE8000001)"
if you know what happening, please HELP!!!
    thanks for your time!!!

Obviously it's an issue with ZoneAlarm. Why not contact their support or post on their forums? May be a common problem. Or maybe look for a different firewall/security software.

  • Computer/Itunes cannot detect Iphone on Computer

    HELP!
I have tried all the troubleshooters, I have tried all usb ports, I have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times.
When onto apple we forced my iphone to be recognised in Itunes but then it came up with error code 1611 before the hardware had completed install.
I ran the diagnostics last night and got the below (the top bit is missing however) - the driver said it was not installed, and it says activation iphone server not connected - timed out.
I tried to reinstall the driver for Vista and it said I already had a more upto date version of this and could not install it.
I have run out of ideas.

    Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB2 Enhanced Host Controller - 27CC. Device is working properly.

I have done all of the suggested issues and tried all 4 USB ports - as you can see from the diagnostics, all the USB ports are working fine.
The iphone has also registered on another computer, so I think the issue lies with the installation of Itunes not installing the driver properly.
I should say that I spent 1 hour on the phone to apple and we discussed issue 1611 and there was no further support at that point they could provide until I'd tried the iphone on another computer.
As you can see from the diagnostics, the USBs are fine also - I need someone very capable with configuration of drivers to advise as I think this may be the problem.

  • IPod touch frozen and itunes cannot detect iPod?

It just began with me connecting my iPod to my mac and a window popping up saying "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly, and you must manuually eject the ipod before each disconnect".I didn't know how to update it again (because my itunes is the lastest version already). You can't even see the contents (music, apps, books) of my ipod on itunes. I forgot to eject it manually today and now my ipod is frozen on the homescreen where all the apps are. Its been frozen for like an hour. I've tried holding the off button but to no avail.Now... my frozen ipod doesn't even show up on itunes. I need help!! (its a pretty old ipod touch with no camera)

Did you try to reset by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, untilt he Apple logo comes back again? If this does not work, try to connect in recovery mode, explained in this article:
iOS: Unable to update or restore

  • Iphone wont power on unless on charge and itunes cannot restore iphone,, what can i do?

I recently bought an iphone off Ebay, the seller said it was broken and described the problems too me, the phone in my view is fixable. The main problem i have is that the phone wont power on unless it is plugged in on charge. This is where it leads onto my next problem. there are a lot of ways people are describing to restore the phone if it doesnt work. (Hold down power and home, let go of power then it goes into a certain mode which it will let it restore then connect to itunes.) My problem is that to do this i have to be connected to itunes to get it to this stage.
the battery isnt the problem I have been told as the previous owner said they had replaced the battery already to see if that was the problem but it clealy wasnt.
If anyone can help me to restore this phone or tell me if I need to just take it to a repare shop. If there is a simple way of doing it myself and saving about £100 I would love to hear it!!!

    I downloaded ios 6 on iphone 4s,
How exactly were you able to do that? Since the only signed software, for your phone, is iOS 7.0.3, that's the only version of iOS you could install on your phone.

  • IPod keeps restarting, Windows and iTunes cannot recognize it

One day my iPod just started skipping through songs when it was on shuffle. I tried restarting it, but the folder with the exclamation point icon appeared. I realize that I need to restore the iPod, but when I connect the iPod to my computer, it keeps continually restarting, making it impossible for iTunes or Windows to be able to recognize the iPod. Windows seems to be trying to recognize it, but the restarting happens so quickly that it isn't working. I can put the iPod in Disk Mode, but when I plug it into my computer, it just starts restarting all over again. Is there another way to restore the iPod, without using iTunes? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The iTune cannot detect my iPhone 4S. I have already tried all methods suggested, including re-installling iTune, re-activating Apple Mobile Device, plugging in various USB ports, and etc. I use windows 7. How can I solve this?

The new cable is completely new, and my computer can detect the phone as a drive, and battery charging is ok. So I believe the USB cable works properly. It is so weird that just iTune itself cannot detect the phone, and it is of the most updated version. What else can I do? Thanks.

  • TS1538 Hi, I have the problem which iTunes cannot detect my iPhone 4s. I tried the steps you have provided in your troubleshooting, but it won't work for me because the Apple Mobile Devilce is perfectly installed on my windows.

Hi, I have the problem which iTunes cannot detect my iPhone 4s. I tried the steps you have provided in your troubleshooting, but it won't work for me because the Apple Mobile Devilce is perfectly installed on my windows. However, the driver "Microsoft teredo Tunneling adapter" has a yellow exclamation mark, which i believe means it's not installed correctly or something is wrong with it. This driver is under the Network Adapters (Please see picture below).
This is what happens when I connect my iPhone 4s to my laptop (Windows 7 Starter 32-bit)
    1. The phone charges it's battery
    2. I can open it in My Computer and import/export media files.
    In iTunes
    3. It start to sync until step 3 then stops.
    4. The iPhone option with an arrow appears beside the iTunes Store, but when the arrow is clicked it disappears.
I hope you can provide me a solution for this problem.
    Thanks,
    Ralph

    Hi ralphagir,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
For your iTunes issue with it not recognizing your iPhone, I would go ahead and suggest deleting iTunes and all of its components from your Windows computer and installing fresh.
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
As far as the arrow button that you click and the iPhone disappears, it sounds like you may be clicking on the eject button. Please take a look at the following article for information on the eject button in iTunes.
    Safely disconnect iPod

  • Itunes cannot detect Outlook contact, etc, on Windows 8.1

iTunes cannot detect Outlook contact, etc, on Windows 8.1

Found solution on web : uninstall iTunes & all Apple-related apps, delete all Apple-designated folders from <user>/AppData/..., restart PC, download & reinstall iTunes, finish installation without starting iTunes, restart PC, run iTunes and connect iPhone to PC. Sync starts and Outlook can be found under the Info section. Contacts sync-ed without problem. Calendar refuses to sync. Still searching for solution to this remaining problem.
