  • QuickTime and iTunes video playing fullscreen on external monitor automatic

Hello, on my Toshiba laptop with nVidia video card, I have an external monitor hooked up to the laptop. Every time I go to play video from QuickTime or iTunes, it plays the video at full screen size on the external monitor while also playing in the normal small window of QuickTime or iTunes on the main (laptop) LCD. I don't have the QuickTime Pro key installed on this machine, nor have I somehow selected to play videos at full screen. It does this whether I want to do it or not, which is quite annoying as the full screen version is usually flickering to boot.
Help please. I've looked in the QuickTime Control Panel and don't see anything that would cause this problem, nor in iTunes.
    Cheers, Andrew.

A couple of things you might want to try. Open the QT Player settings, not to be confused with the QT Control panel. There should be settings in there for monitors and dual monitors I believe.
For the flickering, open the Display control panel>Settings>Advanced>Monitor. Listed under Monitor settings-Screen refresh rate: try changing the setting to 85 Hertz.

  • Re-installed Windows and iTunes due to system crash, iPhone won't sync now

My system recently crashed. Re-installed Windows and iTunes, all my old documents, songs, movies were all gone. But I now still have movies, songs and pictures that are on my iPhone 3G and would like to transfer them to my newly re-installed system, but iTunes won't allow me to do it. I will have to lose everything currently in my iPhone because I am trying to sync it to which is now recognised as another computer.
Is there any way I can get all my songs, movies, pictures transferred across to my new system?

The sync process for iTunes content is a one way transfer process only - from your computer to your iPhone, and the same for photos transferred from your computer. Photos transferred from your computer are optimized for viewing on your iPhone so even if you are able to transfer the photos from your iPhone back to your computer, the original resolution of the photos will be lost.
iTunes includes an option to transfer content that was purchased or acquired from the iTunes Store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for content that was purchased or acquired from the iTunes Store only.
First you need to re-authorized your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes.
With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
After doing this when syncing iTunes content for the first time, your iPhone will likely be erased of all iTunes content first, but after you have transferred the content from your iPhone to your iTunes library, you can reselect it under the Music and Videos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
Apple provides no option to transfer photos from an iPhone that were transferred to the iPhone from a computer. There may be a 3rd party utility that provides for this, but any such utility is not supported by Apple and the original resolution of these photos will be lost.
This is one of the reasons why maintaining a backup of your important data stored on an external drive or some other media is so important, which should include your iTunes library and photos, along with all other data that is important to you. This is important regardless the platform, but even more so with a Windows PC due to constant virus, adware, and spyware concerns.

  • HT1535 I would like to move my songs from my ipod nano back on to my freshly reinstalled windows and iTunes.  Can that be done?  I turned off automatic syncing so I can charge up the ipod.

I would like to move my songs from my ipod nano back on to my freshly reinstalled windows and iTunes.  Can that be done?  I turned off automatic syncing so I can charge up the ipod.  Help!

You won't be able to, just by navigating out the iPod's photos folder in iTunes. You'll likely need the help of some sort of third party software to get the job done for you.  One thing you'll want to keep in mind about these photos is that they are no longer in their full resolution, but instead are scaled down thumbnail versions that were optimized for viewing on your iPod's Video smaller 2.5" LCD display.

  • Windows and itune  not recognizing my ipod shuffle

i got ipod shuffle 2 weeks before .it was working for 2 days. after that i got no response frm other day.now my windows and itune is not showing my ipod and when i connect it to my system orange light blink for three times and then stops.
    please do help me...

I've downloaded itunes, tried researching and
troubleshooting til I'm blue! I plug in the ipod and
the only thing my device manager shows is USB mass
storage device. By the way, my ipod did NOT come with
an installation disc. And yes it's fully charged. The
orange lights up while charging and when I plug in
the ear pods the blue light stays lit.
IF the GREEN LED stays lit continuously, SOMETHING is seriously wrong with the Shuffle! READ the following
article, "Understanding iPod shuffles status lights", especially the part on " Using iPod shuffle to play music"
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300553
iTunes is not recognizing the ipod either (as my
    friend said it should)
I even installed itunes on a friends' computer and
had the same problem. I just got this for my son for
Christmas and needless to say he's a bit
    disappointed.
    Did I buy a lemon?
Perhaps...but they're Not ALL lemons by any means.
    Please help!!!

  • I received a cd from a dj and itunes cannot play the cd.  Why?

I received a Cd from a disc jockey and iTunes cannot play the CD.  Why?

It could well be an MP3 CD, which many car players will now handle. Those disks are basically just data disks, so if the tracks are indeed MP3, dragging them into the iTunes window should do the trick.
    Regards.

  • Ipod nano does not connect to Windows and itunes

    Dear All
in my family we have 3 ipods: a shuffle, a ipod 20gb and a nano. While the first 2 are easily connecting to windows and itunes, the nano doesn't and does not recognise the USB port of my laptop[message 'unkwnon device']. I have tried, I think, most of the suggestion I found on the apple support and in the forum. Does somebody know any 'special' tip, my son is really getting frustrated by this situation because he can't get the same music. Please help. Thanks in advance
    ciao

    Hello franbat,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your son's iPod nano.  I found an article with steps to address this:
iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

Help, I installed parallel and windows, and opened videos (on an external hard disk) with windows, and now cannot open them with Mac, and use i movies.  How do I reverse this?

Paragraphs help the reader, just saying.
What are you actually trying to do? Why do you need "DVD size" folders if you're creatng an Archive on an external hard drive?
Also, I understand burning folders instead of individual photos or albums gives you more space on a DVD.
It makes no difference at all.
How can I keep the captions on my photos (not events) when I print or transfer to a new folder?
You can export while writing the metadata to the file in most cases.
Tne only way I know is to copy photos from the Windows to folders on my HD, then copy and paste photos or albums or events to HD, then create a new folder and fill it to the appropriate DVD size.
HD? Another HD? You use HD there in a way that makes no sense. What's the point of 'DVD size'?
I also thought I should download future photos to my Canon programming that comes with EOS cameras and edit and then decide which photos to save to iPhoto library and which to save only to my archival HD?
Does this have any relation to the previous questions? You know you can delete from iPhoto, right?
You're somewhat confused and you need to
    1. Decide what exactly you want to do
    2. Then go about it.
If I understand you correctly - and there's no guarantee that I do -  the easiest thing is to bring all your Photos into iPhoto and do everything from there.
You can have an archive on an external disk, you can sort and select and edit with or via iPhoto

  • Windows and itunes can now see my ipod!!

    Hi
    Chris... any anyone else interested
I have managed to get my ipod to work with windows and itunes. but at a cost. some of my music and movies will not coppy back ontot he ipod and chkdsk of C:\ showed many errors in the itunes directory. these files worked previously so my conclusion is that updating has somehow corrupted files and ipod update software on the ipod itself.
Heres what i had to do
    1. My pod was showing version 1.0 even though I had version 1.2 previously. this may have been due to the attempt at a re-set from advice given on the forum for trying to get reconnection (5R's) so i wanted to re-run updater.
    2. ipod updater (found in C:\program files\ipod) could not run due to previous topics posted (ipod ejected after 10 seconds without update and drive diappears from 'my computer'). so...I uninstalled itunes 7.2, and reinstalled itunes 6. To do this I had to rename my current library 'itunes 7.02 old' to avoid the 'itunes cannot continue to install as your library was created in a later version' error message.
    3. Itunes 6 still did not recognise itunes and kicked it off windows too just like before. The difference was however that this time running ipod updater from C:\program files\ipod\.... allowed it to update from the previous installer and this set the ipod back to version 1.1 but obviously during this process all items on the ipod were deleted. This update was allowed despite the drive not showing up in 'my computer'?
    4. plugging in the updated ipod opened itunes and at last the ipod icon appeared and the drive remained in windows. I updated to software version 1.2 and itunes 7.02
    5. I then went into c:\......my music\itunes and renamed the current library 'itunes' to '7.02' and my previously renamed 'itunes library 7.02 old' back to 'itunes'
    6. on restarting itunes my whole old library was reinstated.
there were 68 problems and an empty 'movie' folder was seen as 'corrupt' by windows. CHKDSK on C drive removed any corruption. Everything else seems to be updating ok....my purchased games, movies, audio etc...
So in summary if you are stuck in the loop of being unable to restore an old itunes due to having a new library or not being able to use the previous ipod updater to restore your ipod follow the steps above and all should be ok.
this does not solve the cause however so any comments on what may have happened would be most appreciated.
    Matt/Alan

    Hey there MattSK123,
Thank you for your question. It sounds like you are unable to see either of your devices in the sidebar of iTunes after a recent update. A number of issues could cause this type of behaviour, and would recommend starting with the troubleshooting from the article named:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
If the issue is not resolved, I would next re install iTunes from either of the following articles depending on the version of Windows you have:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
    Or
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows XP

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,

my PC crashed, so i reinstalled windows and itunes. how do i get my music back?

If the music was purchased from iTunes you can redownload it for free (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519).  If not you will either have to re-import all your music to rebuild your library, or purchase 3rd party software that can transfer it from your phone to iTunes such as Touch Copy.

  • I reinstalled Windows and iTunes. How can I transfer what is on my iPad to my PC?

I reinstalled Windows and iTunes. How can I transfer what is on my iPad, which is authorized, to my PC?

The ipad is not a backup device.  It simply mirrors the selected content of your computer.
Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything back.  Certainly you did not reinstall your os without making sure your backup copy was up to date.

  • HT1351 I recently had my hard drive wiped out by a virus and had to reinstall windows and itunes. When i hooked up my ipod it didnt automatically sync my songs on my ipod with the library. How do I do this manually?

I recently had my hard drive wiped out by a virus and had to reinstall windows and itunes. When I hooked up my ipod it did not transfer my songs from my ipod to my itunes library. How do I do this?

iTunes syncing is generally in one direction only, from the computer's iTunes library to the iPod.  You cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer (except for songs purchsed from the iTunes Store).
However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.  (The CNET article seems to be popular.)
Once the song files are on your computer's drive, you can add them to your new iTunes library.  (Going forward, you should use a backup strategy, and include your iTunes data in what gets backed up.  Then, you would be able to recover your complete iTunes library, including things like playlists and ratings.)
