Windows 8 black screen after Dell logo?

My computer was being really slow the past couple of days so i did a system scan with reg cure pro and it told me i had to restart my laptop. After restarting my laptop it showed
the dell logo and then just a black screen. Every time i restart my laptop it does the same logo then black screen. When i click the power button it turns of instantly instead of the usual 3 or so seconds of holding the button. I have looked up this issue
but have not found a fix.I cannot/do not know how to restore windows 8 because ,y laptop came without the installation disk and when i try to access the advanced settings it is still just another black screen with the words "f12 boot
options" in the bottom right corner. I have also seen people talking about 2 different styles of this black screen. One with a black screen but a light border and the second just a black screen. The one mine seems to be is that there is a bright border
along the edges of my laptop screen but black everywhere else. If you have found a fix to this problem or have a temporary solution please post a comment. Thank you.

Issue already solved from Dell inspiron n5110 Series, Follow the step to get your screen at better resolution....
1. Install Windows 8 Pro
2. Use External Monitor to View the Screen of Windows 8 After Installation or Run in Safe Mode To Access Windows 8 at Low Screen Resolution
3. Download the Bios Driver (New one) for your Laptop from Dell.com website,
4. Install the Bios ( Remember to connect the AC and DC )
5. Once Bios Installed and system Restarted you can disconnect the External Monitor if you did attached
6. That is Done, Now you have a Windows 8 in your Dell inspiron

  • MSI R9 270X - Black Screen after Win7 logo

    Hello there.
About a week ago I upgraded my PC, buying several components and putting it to work. Here's the specs.
    Main Board: M5A97 EVO R2.0
    Bios Version: Latest
Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 270X TwinFrozr OC Edition 2Gb
    PSU: Don't know
12v rail Rating of listed PSU:
    CPU: AMD FX 8350 4.0Ggz BE SkAM3+
    Memory: 8Gb Crucial Ballistix DDR3-1600Mhz
    SSD/ HDD: Western Digital WD10EZRX-00A8LB0 1TB
CPU COOLER: The one that came with the CPU
    Raid Card: Onboard
    Sound Card: Onboard
OC: (Yes / No) Don't know
    Operating System: Win 7 SP 1 64
So, it worked just fine for about 3 days. Last Saturday night I tried to open Google Chrome after some gaming and the the system froze. I got a screen with vertical black and white stripes. I had to reboot the system and it gave me a black screen, crashing again, after the Win Logo at start up. At this time I was running either 14.7 or 14.9 ATI drivers.
I could only start the PC on Safe Mode. Removing the drivers and getting Windows general VGA card settings would allow me to use Windows in normal mode though. Once I installed the Graphic Card's drivers it crashed on reboot, always with the black screen after Win logo. I installed several ATI drivers, namelly 14.9, 14.11 beta, 13.12... and nothing worked.
I flashed the Mother Board BIOS to the latest version, formatted the HDD doing a fresh install of Win 7, installed Catalyst first and then the drivers, the drivers without catalyst, etc. and nothing worked, always getting a black sreen on reboot once the Graphic Card's drivers were installed. I even swapped the Graphic Card to a different slot to no avail.
Right now I'm using my old Radeon HD 5670 with the latest drivers and everything works just fine. It even works fine if I keep both Graphic Cards installed with the monitor plugged to the older card. I find this odd since to do so, Windows loads both cards drivers with no errors. But once I switch to the new card everything goes black.
Can someone help me out? I've tried to contact my vendor's technical support through mail but they're not answering. I fear that I'll have to report it as DOA and swap it out, which will take quite some time taking into consideration the way things tend to work around here.
    EDIT - I don't have a 2nd system to test it on.

Nope. Not driver issue at all. I tested at least 3 different drivers, all with the same result. Besides, I used both Driver Fusion and Driver Cleaner and CClean to remove any non-deleted registry entries. Always got the same problem. Went as far as formating the drive and doing a clean Win install. The problem persisted.
Tried installing drivers without Catalyst to no avail. Tried installing Cataltst first and then the drivers. Nothing. It always crashed omce the drivers were installed.

  • Black Screen after W7 logo before login screen - HELP!

    Hi,
When I start windows, after Windows 7 start logo, I get a black screen for about 20-40
seconds, then a black screen with cursor for around 1 and a half minute and then I get the login screen, thats around after 3minutes.
I am facing this problem for quite some time now, I also did a clean windows installation
after wiping out harddisk using diskpart. But it was of no use, still I get that annoying Black Screen at startup and I think my laptop is a bit slow too. When
I open windows in safe mode, I get the Black screen there too but for like 35-45 seconds.
I also ran Dell PC Checkup, everything is fine.
I'd be really grateful if someone helps me find out what exactly is wrong with my laptop
and how can I get rid of this black screen, thanks!

  • Please Help: iMac black screens after startup logo + spinning wheel no cursor).

    Hi, guys.
I'm in a fair bit of a desperate situation; my iMac's screen seems to shut down every time after the white startup screen. The Apple logo appears, & the progress wheel begins spinning, then after a while - when it would usually then go to the gray login screen - it would, instead, go black. I can tell that the machine is still on (I can still hear it clicking as it does during processing) but I'm unable to determine anything else. Nothing is visible on the screen - not even the cursor - it's as if the display had turned off completely. I'm not sure if the login screen sits beneath that black screen (I have tried to log on by typing my login details in blindly, but even if it does log in, it's hard to determine what state the computer is in without seeing the screen.
I have tried the PRAM reset (holding CMD+OPT+P+R) during both the white startup screen, & the black screen to no avail. It seems unresponsive because I don't hear any additional chimes that I've been told should be heard during a PRAM reset attempt. I can't even be sure that the command is being inputted correctly because the light on my wireless keyboard remains off during the process.
I've tried rebooting over & over again; the results are the same.
The steps that led to the problem occurred thusly:
1 - I was trying to clear some memory from my current session, so I scanned through my active processes, quitting anything which seemed to be eating up considerable amounts of memory.
2 - One particular process I quit was 'launchd' which was functioning under my profile username.
3 - After quitting launchd, all opened apps seemed to close, & it looked like I was forcibly logged off the machine. The screen froze during this point, & I decided to do a hard reboot to log back in.
4 - The problem began after this hard reboot; startup seemed to occur as per usual; white screen > apple logo > progress wheel > and then suddenly, a black screen where the login screen should be.
I've shown a flashlight into the screen while it's black & it seems well & truly like the display has shut down while the iMac continues in the background. I have had issues relating to my screen going black before, but they were random & intermittent; they didn't occur without fail during the exact same time immediately after startup, & could be remedied by using the CTRL+OPT+EJT keys.
I am on an iMac 2010, 27", using I believe Lion OSX. I am unable to recall additional specifications while the problem persists.
Could anybody please help me? I'm quite desperate; I was in the middle of some urgent work that I need to get back to as soon as possible.
Thank you I'm advance to anyone with advice on how I can go about fixing this.
    ,c.

    Gray screen appears during startup

  • WINDOWS BLACK SCREEN AFTER VM WARE DEMO PLEASE HELP

I tried installing VM Ware Fusion Demo. I could not use my wireless mouse and keyboard, now I can't even startup with Windows. I get a black screen. Please help!

Go into safemode and uninstall the Nvidia driver you have installed and after restarting the computer and allowing extra time for windows to install a default driver for the graphics, install the Windows 7 driver for your computer found in the Toshiba download page for your laptop.
If you have issues with the screen blacking out after doing that, follow the instructions found here and this will correct that.

  • Black Screen after ASUS logo but before WINDOWS logo and logon screen

Ok. So I have a custom built PC with an i5 Intel core and windows7.
PC was working fine, but the next day after booting it up, I would get the usual ASUS logo with "press f2 or del to enter bios"... and this is usually followed by a 2 second WINDOWS loading bar going into the logon screen. But after the ASUS logo,
the loading bar doesnt show.. and the screen just dims like it went into sleep mode and nothing can wake it up or anything. The PC, fans and everything are still running and working fine.
From what Ive read up and researched on this so far.. it may most likely be some sort of admin/privilege issue. But I have no way of entering safe mode. Pressing/holding F8 brings up a boot up menu, not the advanced boot options to select safe mode T_T.
    What do I do?

    Hi,
Like Rick said, it sounds like your computer is with problem instead of Operating System.
Thus I suggest you send your computer to ASUS support center to take a hardware detection.

  • Black screen after apple logo startup

    Hi everybody,
I've been using an atv (2nd g.) for about a month but last night during the screensaver (random images) the image went black. The little led was working but no images on the tv. I then rebooted using the remote (menu -) and I can see the apple logo but as soon as the boot procedure ends the tv goes black again and I can't see any menu. I tried to unplug everything for an hour but the problem remains.
Should i try with a factory restore? (is it possible only via itunes?)
    any idea?
    Thanks
    Massimo

If it's not able to load and you are unable to get to the menu commands to undertake a restore then you will need to connect the Apple TV to your computer using a micro USB cable and restore via iTunes.

  • Black Screen After Upgrading to Windows 8

    Hi
    I'm experiencing a black screen after upgrading a Dell N5050 B890 to Windows 8.
Tried to refresh the installation but the problem persited. re-installed the Windows 8, the machine logged in successfully but the problem arose again after reboot.
    Urgent assistance needed

    This problem is solved...
I guess the problem is concerned with the display module controller in the BIOS which is having a slight compatibility issue with windows 8.
This issue is solved by updating the BIOS of your Laptop/PC to the latest version. You can download the latest BIOS from the website of the Laptop company/Motherboard Company.
But for updating the BIOS, you have to start your computer/Laptop for at least one time in Normal Mode. So here are the steps to do so...
    1) Boot the Laptop/PC.
    2) After the boot screen (The Circle Animation & Windows 8 logo), you will be presented by the lovely & awesome blank screen.
    3) Wait for 1 minute so that drivers load into the memory.
    4) Press the Power button of your laptop/PC for only a moment (Just Press and release it quickly. Don't hold. We don't want to shut down).
    5) This will force the laptop/PC to go into Sleep mode.
    6) When the laptop/PC goes in sleep, the laptop fan & other sounds will stop.
    7) After 4-5 seconds, press the power button again & release it quickly.
    8) Voilllaa!!! The laptop/PC starts & you are presented with the lock screen. Now..... Login! What are you waiting for! :P
This is not the permanent solution. It just lets you start you Laptop/PC.
After updating the BIOS, I strongly suggest that you must download the latest graphics driver for your Computer/Laptop to avoid any further issues.

  • GTX670 - Signal lost/black screen after windows loading icon

    Hello,
I hope I am posting this in the correct forum area.  If not I do apologize.
    Here are my specs:
    Board: MSI Z97-G45 Gaming
Bios: ?? whatever pre-installed on mobo
    VGA:   MSI GTX670 OC
    PSU:   Corsair HX750 750W
    Intel Core i7-4790K
    MEM: 12 GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600 2x 4GB, 2x 2GB sticks
HDD: SSD Kingston 120 GB (Win7), HDD 1 TB WD 7200 RPM (Win7), HDD 1.5 TB WD 7200 RPM (storage)
COOLER: Corsair Hydro Series H60 Water Cooler
OC: no overclocking done by me..default settings
    OS: Windows 7 64bit Professional
So to keep this as direct and as short as humanly possible here is my situation.
Had a gtx670 card that I had to send back to MSI under RMA.  They sent me what looks like a new gtx670 card (no dust) that I received yesterday (4 Aug).  Last night I removed temporary old card (9800gt) and plugged in new 670gtx.  Things seemed to be ok, reinstalled driver after card was recognized.  Played one round of Battlefield 4 for testing purposes and all seemed good.
Upon exiting the game things went south in a hurry.  Moving the mouse cursor around was extremely slow and choppy.  Mouse clicks were not recognized.  I could not bring up ctrl-alt-del to get to task manager.  At this point the cursor turned to spinning circle as if things were happening.  However, after 5+ minutes of nothing changing I did a hard boot.
Restarted and after the windows loading screen the signal appeared to be lost to the monitor and I was left with black screen.  This was with the SSD.  I then attempted to load into the HDD windows OS that I hadn't logged into yet with this card and was greeted with the same issue.
I can load into Safe Mode with no issues.  In safe mode I removed all nvidia drivers and was then able to load into windows normally using basic windows vga drivers.  The moment I load the Nvidia drivers and restart the computer I then have the issue again.  This happens with both drives.
I have reset the video card in the PCI-Ex16 slot and still received the problem.  I have tried a different PCI-Ex16 slot and still had the issue.  I put the old 9800gt card back in and windows loaded perfectly and without issues on both drives.  I put the 670gt in and try to load into normal windows and I lose signal and get black screen after the windows loading screen.
I'm at a loss at the moment.  I think it's the drivers, but could it be the card?
Doing some research I've come across some people saying there may be issues with the nvidia HD audio drivers that are installed with the video drivers.  Could it be as simple as uninstalling or unchecking that particular driver?

Flashed the BIOS last night to the latest version and attempted to launch windows with the GTX670 card.  I still experienced the same issue where as soon as windows finishes it's loading animation (with Nvidia drivers) and it goes to the login screen, the monitors cut out.
At this point I feel like it has to be the card.  The moment I install the video drivers and restart, I have the problem of losing the signal/black screen.
    What I have done:
    1) Completely wiped any/all video related drivers from the computer and started from scratch. No success.
    2) Ran Memtestx86 to see if it's a problem with my memory sticks. No problems found.
    3) Put the card in a different PCI-Ex16 slot to see if there was a problem with the slot. No success.
    4) Flash updated the BIOS on the motherboard to the latest version. No success.
I have a dual boot computer with Windows 7 64-bit installed on an SSD and a HDD.  The problem happens on both drives.  Yet, the moment I install my old 9800GT the problem disappears and I can login to Windows just fine.
I will be sending the card back today on another RMA.

  • Black Screen After Windows 8 64-bit Upgrade (Clean Install) on TouchSmart IQ508A (IQ500 series)

    Hi there,
Just installed Windows 8 and am getting a black screen after booting up like many others. I currently have disabled the graphics driver and this has solved the black screen issue but I can no longer use my web cam for Skype (although web cam works for W8 Camera App oddly).
To date I have tried the following:
Loading up the latest Nvidia drivers from the Nvidia website
Attempting to use the drivers for Windows 7 both in compatability mode and normally. I unzipped SP44488 to get this working
I know many others are having this problem so I really would  like someone from HP to respond and state whether a Windows 8 display driver for the Nvidia GE Force 9300M GS is being developed.
I ran the compatability wizard prior to the clean install and it came up with no issues so I am very disappointed I am having these problems.
I've found out that HP have a customised version of the above card so that explains why the Nvidia drivers dont work so I believe HP is therefore obligated to provide a driver.
If anyone else is having similar issues please respond as this will hopefully lead to more action.
    cheers
    Steve

I'm in the same boat. On my IQ804, the Nvidia GE Force 9300M GS card crashes when I use NVidia's latest Windows 8 driver and Microsoft's LIVE UPDATE drivers.  I have to resort to the Standard VGA driver in order for the pc not to crash into a black screen.
I read on another forum you can try installing a July 2012 version of the driver from NVidia and that should solve the problem.  I tried it once. Using the July 2012 version, the screen would stay on longer, but eventually it crashes into a black screen...but definitely more usable than the latest from NVidia and Microsoft.
I too have heard that HP used a customized version of the graphics card and that's why neither HP nor NVidia's drivers work.
I also tried installing the Nvidia GE Force 9300M GS drivers for Windows 7 that I downloaded from the HP website.  It didn't work either.  It actually failed to install altogether, saying my system is incompatible.
As is, the pc works fine.  But videos and games that require motion is noticably choppy.
    Any help from HP??

  • Black Screen after logging in locally to Windows 7 that previously had an open RDP session.

Here is what happens. I leave my home computer on (running Windows 7 Ultimate) and sometimes I will remote to it from another location (work, friends house, or wherever). When I return home, I will go to login, the screen then goes blank (no mouse cursor
or anything). I have to do a cold boot to get back into Windows. This only happens if I ever RDP into it sometimes during the day. It seems random. I've tried logging off the RDP session, just closing it without logging off, nothing seems to be the answer
in that regard. It seems very random at times. I'll go a week and I can come home and it will login fine with no problems. Then the next week it starts giving me the black screen after I come home and login locally. I've seen several black screen issues here,
but usually they are getting it before logon. Anyone have a clue what might be causing this?
