My Twist came with Windows 8 apps that I don't need. How do you remove these mess? The apps are not listed in the Program Uninstall window.

I was getting an update and it would not load so I tried to uninstall and reinstall. Now when it reinstalls it gets to the end and it comes up with the following error message.
Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
This is on my desktop that I have had for a number of years that has had itunes for a number of years. I have an two ipods and an ipad associated with the itunes account. Now I can not get it to go past this message.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

You may have to see about using the Recovery HD partition to attempt to erase and restore useful function of the capacity lost to the former Windows installation.
And you may have to backup your contents outside the computer to do it. Disk Utility on the Mac OS X historically has not been able to touch a BootCamp created partition; so if BootCamp cannot remove it, then you have to see how to do the equivalent of a reformat of the entire drive (less Recovery partition?) then reinstall your OS X. Maybe from internet recovery, then get your applications, etc from the Mac App store, etc.
A complete system clone of your OS X on an external HDD would be another method to restore after reformat, of the portion you want whole again, not necessarily the space where Recovery may live.
There may be (an)other way(s).
Perhaps someone with recent experience
in this matter can reply & discuss options.
With my antiques, they almost know what I want before I tell them.

How do I remove ALL Metro/Modern/Universal/Windows Apps without removing the Start Menu?

So with three separate builds of WTP I've run the PowerShell command to remove Metro/Modern/Universal/Windows Apps. With each build, it also removes the Start Menu. In the thread below, an MS Support person mentioned that that command was only for Windows
8.x and shouldn't be run on WTP. What? Then why is that command still available? And, why will it remove some Metro/Modern/Universal/Windows Apps, but not others? Are they marked as System required? Why isn't the Start Menu marked as System required? You'd
think that the start menu would be pretty important.

So, with the start menu being an XAML app, how do I safely remove ALL Metro/Modern/Universal/Windows Apps without removing the Start Menu? I have no use for them and don't want them on my computer. Period. There has to be some command like the one we used
in Windows 8.x that will allow use to remove ALL Metro/Modern/Universal/Windows Apps without removing the Start Menu.
Don't give an answer like "just right-click and uninstall". That doesn't work for all of these things, and do you know how long it takes to do that for all of those silly things? Too long! That's also not practical for an Enterprise desktop. It's
also not practical to leave all of that junk on the desktop, so don't suggest that either.

The problem with PowerShell and all of those scripts is that those particular scripts require a lot of typing, or copy and paste, or having to figure out where all of those apps are stored and then insert their convoluted names into the script. For
me, scripting is like programming. I have no desire to be a programmer/developer.
I just want an option in Programs and Features to be able to turn these "features" off. We were able to do it in previous versions of Windows. If we didn't want Internet Games, we uncheck the box. If we don't want our users to be able to print
documents over the Internet, we uncheck the box. And so on down the line for any other "feature" we didn't want our enterprise users to have.
Or, we could turn those features off using the System Image Manager. Now we have to write some convoluted script with even more convoluted commands for even more convoluted names for things we don't want.
The easier script in Windows 8.x was just get-appxpackages -online | remove-appxpackages. That removed the majority of the apps for an individual user. The remove-appxprovisionedpackage command, with the convoluted name of the app, would remove them from
the hard drive - one app at a time, but that doesn't work in Windows 10.
So, they came up with a DISM command, but that doesn't work in Windows 10 either. I should say that with my limited developer skills I haven't found a way to make it work.
Again, I have no desire to be a developer/scripter. They are the same thing in my book. I'm a systems engineer. I do operating systems, not write applications.

Disk Cleanup (Windows Update Cleanup) removes Windows updates KB3031432,KB3021952, and KB3004375. I have never had this problem before. I use Disk Cleanup after every monthly Microsoft updates. I had to reinstall listed updates on two computers when I checked
for new Windows updates. Why is this? Windows Update Cleanup section of Disk Cleanup should not remove updates. Can not completely cleanup my computers. Rodney

Cleanup does not removed any updates. Can you check windowsupdate.log file?

Yes you can remove it and your photos will not be removed. Un install it from add or remove or from the start menu.

Are you sure to perform a format ? You will lose all the data in the drive after you performed a format.

What is the exact issue? Do you mean the original format of the C drive is FAT32 or other formats except the NTFS format ?

Open the Boot Camp Assistant in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder and use it to restore the drive to a single partition setup. If it's not there, use Pacifist to extract it from your install DVD and run the combo updater for your OS version.

Problem installing itunes 11.1.5 on windows 7 after removing 11.1.4

Hi,
I already had itunes 11.1.4 on my pc (64 bits), but I couldn't update and I need an update for my new Iphone. As support of Apple suggests, I removed itunes. But after downloading the newest version, I cannot install. The error is not enough disk space, but there is. So I don't understand.
I removed all files from program files, I do see some files in programdata, but I am not sure if I should delete those too. Apple support doesn't mention that.
I already emptied temp several times and turned Norton off.
What else can I do to make this work?

Dual boot Windows 7 and Windows 8 then remove Windows 7

my plan is to install Windows 8 on a Windows 7 computer on a new hard drive creating a dual-boot system. Once I have Windows 8 setup properly with apps etc. I want to remove the Windows 7 install and use the old drive for data. what are the steps for this?

I'll list out the requirements for getting Windows to boot. You might find that it will take you less time to unplug your Windows 7 disk and reinstall Windows 8 than try to troubleshoot. You might also try the Repair option that should be on the Windows
8 DVD. You'll have to use Google to figure out exactly what your configuration is and possibly how to do some of these things.
First, if you have a GPT partitioned disk you have to have a EFI BIOS to be able to boot off it with normal Windows tools. You can switch a disk from GPT to MBR but you'll probably lose everything on it with normal Windows tools. Maybe something like gparted
can change the partition scheme without destroying the data. Disks greater than 2 TB have to be GPT. On the other hand if the disk is MBR partitioned (as is common) then it "should" be straightforward.
You need to have:
A partition on your disk Active (what you did in Disk Management) (It possibly has to be the first; see my comment later)
The bootloader installed on that partition (what bootsect does)
The BCD store for that bootloader to boot Windows (what bcdboot does)
Your BIOS has to be booting to this disk as well
If you look in the lower section of Disk Management you might see that there's another (probably unnamed) partition before your C drive. Try this:
Make that first partition the Active partition.
Unplug the Windows 7 disk
Boot to the Windows 8 DVD
Run bcdboot c:\windows (note: without the /s c:)
If bcdboot complains, try: "bcdboot d:\windows" or "bcdboot e:\windows" in case the drive letter of your Windows installation shifted.

Failing to install Windows after virus removal

I recently detected a virus and our IT guy removed it successfully. It seems that the registry was "damaged" somewhere as i cannot re-install Windows. It goes past the first section (gathering files) and then +- 67% of the next
step - then I receive an error message. I also did a back up (before installation) and at 99% it showed an error and "cannot complete back up".
I was told i should re-install windows and this should correct the issues. I am also not able to do updates or sync any phones/tablets.

Try create a bootable scan with Windows Defender Offline and boot into your system and run a full system scan:

If your Windows 7 is already running, you could create a repair disk:
