Windows 8 boot camp, "no driver media"
Hi!
I have a macbook pro early 2011. I'm trying to install windows 8 via boot camp but always in the beginning of the installation i get this error message saying something about a missing driver media. I've tried different DVDs, burnt them with different speeds and tried to do it with usb as well (it didn't even recognize usb boot). What should I do?
P.S
One Option is to just check on Download drivers, and let BA download the correct drivers. It saves them in /Library/Application\ Support/Bootcamp/windows.dmg.
Next time when you have all three boxes checked, it will pick up this .DMG and the ISO and create a USB (you need to use a USB2 flash drive, not a USB3 one). Can you try this method and see what happens?

Erased boot camps hard drive with time machine?
so, i completely erased windows by erasing what was on boot camps hard drive. Boot camp cannot read my "start up" harddrive now. and the harddrive will not turn into a jornaled macintosh hard drive. i checked it with disk utility and it claims to be ok. is there a way i canget back the hard drive and my windows 7 to start up all over again?
I am having a similar problem. I use a Lacie external hard drive connected to an Airport Time Capsule via USB to store my itunes library. Yesterday I disconnected the external drive from the ATC and connected it to my macbook pro via fire wire to transfer 40 gigabytes of media files from my laptop to the external drive directly rather than over wifi. When I reattached the external drive to the ATC the Lacie drive didn't show up even after rebooting everything. I then disconnected from the ATC and reconnected to the laptop and now I get an error message saying the Lacie disk is unrecognizable and needs to be reformated. The Lacie drive was being included in the time machine backups so the files should be available through time machine but I don't see anyway to access them because the Lacie disk icon doesn't appear in the time machine backups. Is there another way to browse the files?
I have had issues with Lacie disks not showing up on the desktop before, particularly when transferring files from one computer to another. The transfer usually goes fine but then when I reattach the drive to the first computer it isn't recognized anymore until I reboot and it sometimes requires a couple of reboots. I initially tried to connect the external drive to both the ATC and the laptop but that didn't work, although now I'm wondering if that was because the connection to the laptop was firewire rather than USB like the ATC. In any case I currently have over a terabyte of data on my lacie that I can't access which includes my entire itunes library and backup files from multiple computers which were "cleaned" but not restored.
Disk utility sees the drive but can't verify or repair and tells me to backup as many files as possible and then reformat. Unfortunately I can't see ANY files to backup because the disk won't mount anywhere. If anyone has a recommendation for utilities to recover the files I'd be most grateful to get them. -
How do I restore data to a new mac with windows boot camp partition?
Hi
I have a new iMac and an old MBP, I'd like to copy all of the data of my old MBP to the iMac.Would doing that affect the windows boot camp partition?
and how do I do it?
right now im backing everything up on my MBP using super duper
both the MBP and the iMac are running on LionI am assuming the Boot Camp partition is on the old MBP and that the SuperDuper clone is on an external drive and is bootable. The Super Duper clone does not include the Boot Camp Partition.
To get the Mac Data moved you can use Migration Assistant and if you want to transfer the Boot Camp partition you would need Winclone to move/copy it to a newly created Boot Camp partition on the iMac. The SD Clone ( and a Winclone backup) is your insurance policy if some kind of difficulty arises.

Could I reinstall OS X partition keeping the windows boot camp partition?
II have a OS x partition that need reinstall. In the same hd I have a Windows Boot camp partition. The question is, could I reinstall OS X partition without affect the Windows partition?
Thanks,
Jorge.Sometimes it works, sometimes not.
Of course you should backup both.
Q: why do you think OS X needs to be reinstalled or something?
Disk directory trouble?
Because 3rd party disk utility can do better, as well as maybe clone Mac volume so you can boot and do more repairs.
Or maybe the partition table is shot. Or bad sectors. And bad sectors can require a full format.
In a perfect world, but disk drives and systems aren't -
I tried to install boot camp a couple months ago and shortly through the installation process(after setting up the hard drive) I realized the Windows disks I had weren't the correct ones, so I had to exit the installation... everything was fine. I just recently restarted my computer and noticed the "Boot camp" Hard drive was still on my desktop. How can I get rid of the boot camp hard drive?
thanksHave you tried running Boot Camp again while in Leopard? This should allow you to delete the windows partition and restore both paritions to one as it once was.

After i install window 8.1, i can't see window icon in my start up disk, i see only mac icon 10.10, but i can see both mac and win icon in my window boot camp control. i want to see window icon in my mac Yosemite 10.10.2,system preference, start up disk.
Third-party NTFS software interferes with the Apple NTFS drivers, which control whether you can see the Bootcamp partition in the Startup Disk option. As a test, can you uninstall all third-party NTFS software and check System Preferences -> Startup Disk?

Intel HD Graphics 4000
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory
Built-in battery (7 hoursWindows Boot Camp does not exist, you mean Boot Camp Assistant, which is a Mac program, it is the program you would use to prepare your Mac to run Windows.
You will need a 64bit retail or OEM version of Windows Home or Professional.
You will also need to read the Boot Camp Documentation thoroughly, and make a complete backup of your machine before repartitioning. -
Will genius bar install windows (boot camp) for me?
will genius bar install windows (boot camp) for me? if so, costs?
Ask them. We don't know what your local Apple Store will do for you. It will certainly cost you their hourly charge for however many hours are involved. You may have to purchase Win8 from them but if not you must have a copy of your own.
Or you can take the time to read the Boot Camp documentation and do it yourself. Start here: Apple - Support - Boot Camp. Open Boot Camp Assistant then click on the large button on the left to print the documentation. Then read it very carefully. -
Weird DVD drive issue on Windows Boot Camp on Macbook Pro
Hi, I just installed Windows on my Macbook Pro with Boot Camp. Windows itself works fine, then I tried installing Fallout 3. The installation took a really long time, which I thought was weird. I tried to play the game but it timed out in trying to read the disc. To further test this, I threw in a movie DVD and tried to play it. Windows Media Player said I didn't have a compatible DVD decoder. I tried playing the dvd in Mac OS and it works fine. I've also run the Leopard DVD install for Boot Camp fine. I used the Windows XP video decoder and it has determined that I don't have an MPEG-2 decoder installed. What I'm confused about is that if I manage to get a hold of a decoder, will that affect other processes, such as reading the DVD for video games?
Hi and welcome to Discussions,
by design courtesy of Microsoft the Media Player is not capable of playing DVDs unless an appropriate DVD-Decoder is installed.
You can use an alternative media player like VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc
But this should not affect the usage of Windows Games, since usually a Games manufacturer puts all needed software to run his games onto the games CD/DVD, so it has to be something else preventing Fallout 3 from running.
Time-outs when trying to read/check the disc can be sometimes caused by 'dirt' on the disc (fingerprints, scratches, etc.).
Check for that.
Also make sure to have not installed programs for 'Virtual-Disc-Drives' like Daemon-Tools and/or Disc-Burning software like Nero, since these can also hinder the game from running.
Hope it helps

Windows 7 rc1 boot camp flash drive
I posted this same post in other section. Someone suggested I post the question here.
How can I, on my mac, install windows 7 on a flash drive then boot from that flash drive for the boot camp install? My boot camp install stalls when expanding the files for the windows 7 setup. I think it might be my superdrive because the drive ejects media I put in it and the drive spins and stops, spins and stops when expanding the files on the install.
Ideas
ThanksFlash drives - and external USB or FW - drives are not supported for Windows.
A few may have managed, and then on PC. And in most cases I think you need to install Windows normal manner first and then clone it.
You can boot OS X from external drives.

Can you use Windows 7 to partition a Boot Camp created dedicated PC drive (not just a PC partition on a Mac drive) into multiple PC partitions?
Can you download this utility, it is a close equivalent of the gpt command, but has more features? (It is more than likely that Windows took over and converted this to an MBR disk).

Once you have it installed you run it as follows. You can execute using either /dev/disk1 or /dev/rdisk1 as the parameter.
type gdisk
gdisk is /usr/sbin/gdisk
sudo gdisk /dev/disk0

GPT fdisk (gdisk) version 0.8.9

Latest Windows 7 on latest Mac OS X via Boot Camp = display driver problems
I've just done (with difficulty) a Windows 7 installation via Boot Camp on my hot new Mac Quad. But when I use Photoshop Elements for Windows-- the problem may occur with other Windows applications too but I haven't tried them yet-- I'm getting frequent blackouts and recoveries accompanied by the now slightly infuriating error message, "DISPLAY DRIVER STOPPED RESPONDING AND HAS RECOVERED. Display driver Radeon ATI family stopped responding and has successfully recovered."
I'm also getting frequent spotty screens which suggest compatability problems. What gives? Are other people troubled by this? Seems to me that this is a problem crying out for an Apple software fix. But other people may have an answer now.Did you uppdate to bootcamp 3.1? To update to 3.1 you need to have installed 3.0 from your Snow Leopard install disc. What version of the display driver are you using.
See this thread that just started too.
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2345677
3.1 solved the "display stopped responding" for me. Of course that introduced other issues.
Check your driver version and read here for other display issues fun...

Using osx snow leopard with boot camp, optical drive keeps ejecting windows 7 disc
Upgraded my late 2008 macbook pro from leopard to snow leopard. Added the max 4GB of RAM and replaced the working 250GB hard drive with a new 1TB hard drive. Rebooted with time machine from external hard drive. Now tried setting up Bootcamp to add a Windows 7 partition, but the optical drive keeps ejecting the Windows 7 disc after it spins for a few moments. The optical drive will read other discs, just not the Windows 7 disc. How do I fix this problem?
you need to install the new bootcamp drivers from windows. boot into windows, insert the snow leopard DVD, open it and follow the instructions.

What is the correct boot camp support driver for late 2009 Macbook for windows 8.1
I have late 2009 Macbook with OS X 10.9.4. I want to run boot camp for windows 8.1, but unable to due to the fact that it can only run Windows 7. What is the correct Boot Camp Support Software so that I can run Windows 8.1?
Thanks for the info, but unfortunately there is no current support software or update for my issue at this time. I found the information under Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating system. Hopefully Apple will fix this issue promptly!
