Windows 8 Boot Camp support software

Good day, I have installed Windows 8 successfully on my Macbook, [OS X Mountain Lion] using Boot Camp assistant. When I got to the step to install the Boot Camp Support software with the CD I created during installation through bootcamp, a pop up message appeared: "This version of Boot Camp is not intended for this computer model." I am stuck in Windows at the moment, there is no way to restart in Mac OS X now, I have tried the hold down the option key while restarting too, it doesn't work.
1. how can I get to restart in Mac again?
2. where can I download the correct Boot Camp support software for this computer for Windows 8? [macbook pro with retina display; OS X Mountain Lion]
thanks

Reboot, hold the X key when you hear the chime, hold it until the computer starts to boot in OSX

Windows 8 is not yet supported, there are no drivers, wait for them or use Windows 7.

  • Blue screen while installing Boot Camp support software in Win7 Ultimate x64

2012 macbook pro with OSX Mavericks. Installing Win7 ultimate x64 using boot camp assistant and a USB drive went flawlessly. Then I downloaded and installed the boot camp support software from support.apple.com/kb/DL1638
Running setup.exe bluescreens my computer and makes the windows partition unbootable after that, even in safe mode. I performed a system restore to roll back the boot camp software and booted again, and checked the log file. It pointed to an intel USB driver. I then deleted IntelxHCI from the Drivers/Intel folder, ran setup.exe again, and everything installed perfectly.
My question is: what is the Intel usb 3 extensible host controller, why is it included in the support software, and why does it immediately brick my Windows partition?

I have re-installed Windows 7 about 20 times already, I am experiencing the same problem as you are. The issue must be some kind of driver being installed by Boot Camp. When I leave my fresh Windows 7 install with no Boot Camp, the error or blue screen never occurs. This is weird.
    Help please Apple...

  • Can I download boot camp support software outside of boot camp assistant?

I've been able to install windows 7 with boot camp assistant and an external cd/dvd drive.  I have not, however, been successful at downloading and applying the boot camp support software.  It has either not loaded onto a USB drive, or will refuse to write to a CD.  Is there a solution to this, and/or can I download the up-to-date support software from another machine, burn it to disc and run it in windows (as older versions ex. 3.1, seem to be .exe files)?

  • Why does Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5621 have AMD Catalysit Control Center in its update?

Before this Boot Camp Support software, the included drivers were for Intel. I have an iMac with Intel i3. But with the software update, it doesn't include a driver for Intel but instead AMD. That doesn't make sense. Anyone know the issue?
    Thank you

I was told to just buy OEM copies but my frustration is that I'm already $200 in OS's because of the information that was provided to me by apple personnel and told by a senior tech that this still can be done.
So to say I'm going to be S.O.L and spend another $100 (for a total of $300 and 2 OS's that are usless to me; because the first time i was told that i could use Windows 8 and when the drivers did not work i was told that Windows 8 is not supported by boot camp drivers at this time so i have to go buy windows 7) I might as well return the $2,500 system and just go back to PC and get a $900 dollar PC system.
I will continue to work with the senior tech that i'm currently working with because the other issue is that OSX 10.8.1 will not except the OSX 10.8.2 update stating that it is not supported by OSX which i was told "that's strange"

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
    You have a Mid 2010 MacBook. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634
As you are using OS X Lion, you can only use Boot Camp 4 drivers, so you can only install a 32 or 64-bit Windows 7 version (you can't run Windows XP, Vista or 8 with Boot Camp). The best way to get the Boot Camp drivers is to open Boot Camp Assistant and download the Windows support software from here. If not, you can also download these drivers from this Apple site > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1634

  • What is the correct boot camp support driver for late 2009 Macbook for windows 8.1

I have late 2009 Macbook with OS X 10.9.4.  I want to run boot camp for windows 8.1, but unable to due to the fact that it can only run Windows 7.  What is the correct Boot Camp Support Software so that I can run Windows 8.1?

Thanks for the info, but unfortunately there is no current support software or update for my issue at this time.  I found the information under Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating system.  Hopefully Apple will fix this issue promptly!

  • Where is iso file in boot camp support download to copy to usb drive?

I am attempting to install Windows 7 professional 64 bit on a 21" imac. I have downloaded boot camp support software 5.0.5033. I have a 4gb flash drive installed. When I run boot camp I am asked to install a iso image. I can not find an iso image. I have tried using msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/x17-59186.iso and let it run for up to 4 hours and I get a message that the server cannot be found.
Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

Follow the Apple's steps to install Windows > http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.8.pdf When you have installed Windows, install the Boot Camp support software you have downloaded

  • Why can I not update these drivers in Windows Boot Camp?

Hi. I own a MacBook Pro Late 2011.
    I also have a CD for a Windows 7 Home Premium single full-install 32-bit.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634
On that page, it says that for my computer, I need Boot Camp 4 to update my drivers, but when I downloaded it and tried using it in my Windows partition, it said something like, "These drivers are not intended for this version of Windows," or something to that effect...
I also tried running the drivers my Mac automatically downloaded for me, but that said they were only intended for 64-bit
That same link said that Windows 7 Home Premium was supported, so I downloaded the newest version of Boot Camp Support Software 4 and tried it and ran into my problem. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? Thanks!!!

I was able to solve this myself by realizing: (a) Windows 8.1 upgrade had changed my display adapter to a Windows Basic Display Adapter, (b) AMD's web site doesn't apparently host installers that work for the Retina iMac (yet?), and (c) the Boot Camp package that Boot Camp Assistant adds to your Windows installer contains a version of AMD Catalyst that will work and will replace the errant driver:
    The installer is in <WININSTALL>:\Bootcamp\Drivers\ATI\ATIGraphics\Setup.exe
    Run install
Verify in Device Manager that the Display adapter is AMD... M29{0,5}X
Finally, I was able to update resolution:

  • Windows 7 boot camp support

apple said that it will have boot camp support for windows 7 before the end of this year.. almost 9 days til the end of the year and still no update. anyone knows anything about that ?

Thanks for the suggestion but I've already tried this - there was even a thread which suggested that I uninstall keyboard & mouse in OSX and then reboot in W7 and install the devices ther first (the rationale being that somehow OSX "reserved" the devices if installed there first, but that the converse was not true for W7). However, it didn't work!.
Just to clarify, Wireless keyboard & mighty mouse still work flawlessly in OSX. They appear on the blootooth device list in W7, but there are no related items showing in the services tab in the properties of each - and I've tried many suggested workarounds.
As for my installation, sound worked perfectly with no tweaking - I've seen threads saying that installing latest Realtek drivers can cure the problem!
Everyone seems to have different compatibility issues with what superficially seems to be the same hardware and software (obviously it isn't!) Maybe that's why Apple are having so much difficulty with the revised drivers, and maybe now folks will apreciate how difficult it must be for Microsoft who have to make Windows work with many hardware combinations.

  • Boot camp support for windows 7 /2009. Now will be released when ready 2010

Boot camp support end of year 2009 has now been revised to the following
Apple is working to support Microsoft Windows 7 (Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate) with Boot Camp in Mac OS X. This support will require a software update to Boot Camp that we plan to release as soon as it's ready.

And they ain't sayin nothin like Charlie Brown's teacher - waa waa waa waa waa.
    Actually let me translate:
"We are incompitent and inept. We are working as slow as possible given our distain for Microsoft. Even though we have the resources to develop these drivers in a few weeks, we are going to drag our feet hoping to frustrate our customers into using OS X even though half the software out there does not run on our OS. We are sorry you are a premium customer willing to pay more than anyone else for a laptop and you did so for customer service and quality. Unfortunately, we are going to totally ignore you on this issue".

  • HT5634 Boot Camp support drivers install unsupported MacBook Air 11inch

I successfully installed WIndows 7 64bit from a USB on my 2013 MacBook Air 11inch and it seems to function properly. When I tried to install WIndows support software I keep getting "Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this compter model" message.  The Boot Camp support site states that this install is supported using Boot Camp 5 (which is the version I used). I've found a few workarounds on-line that mention doing something via the disc in the CD/DVD drive, but I didn't go that route so I am unsure how to proceed. Anyone have any guesses on how to make this work?

This sounds weird to me. I just installed 64x on your model macbook air at work today and everything went off with out a hitch. Perhaps you could try to redownload the drivers from boot camp assistant? I have had issues occasionally with boot camp drivers and redownloading usually works out for me.

  • Uninstall windows (boot camp)

I have used the bootcamp to install Windows in a partition in my mac.
Is it posible to remove windows and this partition? (I need this software just for one semester, so in the future I'd like to have my HD back to the original state: unified and MAC OS)

Did you read the guide or on-screen instructions when you created the partition?
Or even try launching Boot Camp Assistant?
Boot Camp Support page has links to guide, FAQ, and tech support articles that cover most common issues.

In fact http://www.apple.com/support is the "Support" tab link on every page and guide you to common support pages.
