Windows 8 cannot locate scanned document
hi folks
have a HP Photosmart C7100 series 2 device
after scanning a document, I cannot locate it eg should be in C:\users\wayne\documents\My Scans\scan0001.pdf but all I get is note that Windows cannot locate it and I need to spell it correctly!
what do I need to do please to open it on my PC

Are you scanning from the HP Solution Center application? If yes, you can adjust the settings to specifiy the location where the scans are saved.
Follow the steps below:
1. Load the document you want to scan on the scanner glass.
2. Open the Solution Center application.
3. Choose 'Scan Document'.
4. Select the option 'Document to File' or 'Document to File (PDF)'
5. Click on Advanced Document Settings option and then click on 'Save to file save options'.
6. Specifiy the location to send the saved scans on the computer.
7. If you see the option to enable 'Edit the file name of the saved scan', select it.
8. You may also have an option to specify 'how the HP software completes the scan action'. Select 'Launches file explorer'. This will open the folder location where the scan is saved.

Hansson, did you get a window asking you if you wanted to reset your preferences.
Maggedotno, is it the english version? Do you have third party plug-ins? Can you post the contents of help>system info?

I cannot send scanned documents, i cannot send scanned documents
i cannot send scanned documents using mail. it says that the size is too big but the scan is only 33mb. i have tried with Snow leopard and now Lion and the same thing happens. Any ideas? Could it be the scanner that i am now using. i switched from HP to Brother and down loaded the brother presto page manager? i am on a 2007 imac with max RAM installed.
How many pages and what is the size of each page? I assume the 33 Mbytes is the total size.

I have an Epson printer which allows me to edit things (pdf)I have scanned.
Since I installed a new version of adobe reader X, I get an error message
that stated "pdf is not a valid Win.32 application"

HP Laserjet 4000 and 6L in Windows 7 - cannot locate drivers
I recently purchased an Asus laptop, Windows 7 operating system, 64-bit. I am trying to install HP LaserJet 4000 and HP LaserJet 6L printers to this computer with a parallel-to-USB cable.
The computer allows me to install the 6L, and the printer appears in “Devices and Printers.” However, I cannot print pages. I checked with the Windows Compatibility Center website, and this printer is supposed to run in Windows 7 without additional drivers. Restarting has not helped.
The HP LaserJet 4000 will not install. I went to HP’s website and found the page for LaserJet 4000 drivers. There are two boxes on this page: “Drivers” and “Universal Print Drivers.” The driver listed under “Drivers” does not have a download button, only an “Obtain Software” link giving me instructions on navigating to the very page I am on. I am not sure what Universal Print Drivers are or if they are what I should be installing.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!There are Laserjet 4000 drivers available through Windows Update. Go to Start, Devices and Printers, Add a Printer, select the proper port, then click on Windows Update. After a few minutes the list will repopulate, next select HP (not Hewlett-Packard) and select the appropriate driver. Note you will need an appropriate driver for your USB-parallel cable.

Unable to open scanned documents
I cannot open scanned documents once they are saved to my computer.
I am using HP Officejet Pro 8600, scanning from the glass plectrum and the scanned documents automatically appear on my Computer under the program PDF Complete Special Edition.Thanks for the reply. I worked it out, I was still using the free trial of PDF Complete so I've purchased the full version and it seems to be working fine. Thanks for the time.

I am referencing one of your white papers (paper 40032) titled "Rapid Deployment of Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g: Install and Configure in 5 Easy Steps". Under step one, it states that "Administrators should use the Planning Guide chapter of the Oracle Enterprise Manger Installation Guide to determine the hardware requirements ". I cannot locate this document anywhere on OTN. We are in the process of installing Grid Control in a test environment but would like to have access to this "Planning Guide" when it comes time to implement Grid Control across our Enterprise.

I am in the final stages of a cross-forest migration. Users have Windows 7 workstations with redirected folders on a Windows Server 2012 box running in the old forest. User accounts were not migrated. The accounts in use have always
been in the "new" forest. One of our challenges was the large volume of data in redirected folders. I made sure users in the target forest had continued to have access to their redirected folders in the old forest and robocopied
the entire users share, copying the permissions with the files. By doing incremental robocopies, we can get a final copy done now in about six hours. The plan was simple: copy the files, do an incremental copy every night, on the night of the cutover
change the folder redirection policy Documents path from
\\oldserver\users\%USERNAME% to
\\newserver\users\%USERNAME%. The policy is configured to NOT copy user files from the existing folder to the new redirected folder. Everything was going well until I tested the policy change. After the folder redirection policy is updated
and applied, the user cannot access the private Documents folder. For example, user Chester Tester logs on as ctester. I open Windows Explorer and click the Documents shortcut. I see one subfolder, which is subfolder of Public Documents.
So I can look at Public Documents but when I click on the Documents folder (Under the Documents library link) I get an access denied error. Now for the kicker, if I open another Windows Explorer window and edit the address bar to
\\newserver\users\ctester, I can navigate the Documents folder tree and see my thousands of documents. What the ....?
I'm hoping this is something really simple to fix!

Thank you for your reply. Yes, the path in Group Policy Folder Redirection Root Path was updated to
\\NEWSERVER\users. I had planned to point this to the distributed file system, so the first used was actually
\\domain\dfs\users. To simplify things I have backed off to copying to just a normal share
\\newserver\users.
We are using BASIC folder redirection and we create a folder for each user under the root path.
We did not want the policy to move content, as we were seeing users requiring 15-20 minute logon times (or higher) after the policy is changed.
Grant the User exclusive right to Documents - Disabled
Move the contents of Documents to the new location - Disabled
Related folder settings
Video - Follow Documents
Music - Follow Documents
Pictures - Follow Documents
Now when I change the folder redirection from old server to new server I now have TWO My Documents folders in the user's redirection folder on the server. The redirected Documents points to an empty folder set. The copied folders with all user
data are there, but folder redirection refuses to recognize the original folder.
I am looking at the full view of the folder, nothing hidden, so I'm wondering how a folder can have two subfolders with the exact same name. For now, I just want the redirection to move from the old server to the new server properly. I deleted
the new My Documents folder, rebooted the user's workstation and tried again. The behavior repeats itself, i.e., a new My Documents folder is always created when the redirection policy is changed from the old server to the new server. The environment
has about 1500 users with approximately 1.3TB of data in the redirected Documents folders. OUCH! -
I have been able to re-load all of the songs to my I-Pod touch that were not lost on the computer. All of the songs were lost when I did a download of the new operating system. Has anyone had this proble, and does anyone know how I can locate the files on my PC. The list of songs and the album art have remained in the I-tunes window but the songs cannot be played because they cannot be located. Does anyone know about the "!" in the left column and can this help in recovering the songs. There are over 1700 songs that I cannot locate so I would appreciate all the help i can get.

All I do is click on the song, it asks me if I would like to locate it and I go to my music first. It's normally in there and you just click on it and it reloads. Or, search in your computer for it and it will locate it if it's there. Click C drive and you can see all files then move the track to my music first. Finally you could delete iTunes, reload it and press button: scan for media then it will give you back one of every song you have ever loaded digitally!

I understand that after upgrading to Windows 8 you can no longer locate you built-in Webcam on your HP Pavilion g6-1b60us Notebook PC. I will try my best to help you with this problem.

Cannot locate Admin user HP PROBOOK 4720, Windows XP
I was logged in as admin, created a new user account and switched user. That user finished and shut down computer, now I cannot locate my admin setting with all of my documents, pictures, setting, etc. How can I switch back to admin? I do not have that option when I try to switch users, now it just shows me the new user account that I created and when I power up goes straight to that account.

Help! Thanks!Hello CAH75. I understand you're unable to log into your normal account on Windows XP.
Do any of the user accounts which you can access have Administrator privileges? If so, you can try the following.
Log into the account.
Navigate to the Control Panel and locate "User Accounts." Select this.
You should see "change the way that users log on and off"
Uncheck the "use the Welcome screen" box.
Save your changes and reboot the computer.
This will bypass the Welcome screen and take you to a normal username and password login prompt. This should allow you to access the Administrator account. Let me know if this helps!

i cannot locate my music from itunes anywhere on my computer. i have a windows 8 computer. i tranfered all my music from one computer to another and now it is lost. is there an easier way to transfer music from one computer to another i did it via a external hard drive. please help i would love to listen to my music again.

EdWeidman by default the download will be saved to your Download folder. I do not know the exact name of the file which was provided to you.

How can I download a previously downloaded purchase to my iTunes library on my laptop when the listing for the song in my library won't play because it says it cannot locate the file. Yes I have searched my iTunes folders and also done a full windows search. The track plays on my iPad and my iPhones but will not play on my laptop!?

My worry is that if I sync my iPad/iPhone then I will lose the track on those also!If you cannot find the file on your hard drive then once you delete the current broken entry you should be able to redownload from iTunes in the Cloud. This assumes the item in question qualifies. Note that audiobooks, digital booklets, iTunes LPs & Extras, ringtones, selected movies etc. don't.
If prompted don't hide the item. You may find that you need to close and then reopen iTunes before it will appear for download.
