Windows 8 compatible with CS4 Web Premium?

Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant shows it is not compatible and "paid update available." I don't want to pay $2k to upgrade to CS6. Is there a way to still use Dreamweaver and Photoshop CS4 in Win 8? (e.g. if I change compatibility settings, etc.)
I also don't want to have a dual boot system to have both Win 7 and 8... I hope I don't get stuck with this and have to keep my Win 7...

Just for the record, you can only upgrade to CS6 from CS5 now.
The upgrade window for earlier versions (CS4 and older) closed on Dec 31, 2012. So CS4 to CS6 is no longer an option.

Have you tried to install CS4 on Win 8 anyway to see if it works?

  • Installation problems with CS4 Web Premium

Hi everyone, I'm trying to install Application 1 DVD for Adobe CS4 Web Premium. So heres my problem..... When try to install Application 1 DVD, it stops installing at 82% of disc progress (Currently installing Adobe Color - Photoshop Specific CS4). It freezes for a while than a window pops up saying to insert disc 1. Isn't Application 1 disk 1? When I try inserting any one of the other DVDs, that same window pops up.  Am I missing something here???? Could it be the reason that I'm running XP 64-bit? Any help would be appreciated!!!

  • Existing Kompozer Website but Wish to Start Over W/CS4 Web Premium

Hopefully, i am in the right place to ask these question. I'm a real novice but we needed a web presence and tried a hand at Kompozer. With no prior experience, or training actually managed to get something up. The site has only a single page at the moment with two external link buttons.  But now we would like to turn to CS4 Web Premium. I have read and watched any number of tutorials and some say, Download the Existing (Remote) site using an FTP program such as Filezilla and then edit it Locally.
I am under the impression you don't actually need to use Filezilla, or another FTP with CS4 Web Premium, as it has a built in FTP feature?
Can someone please educate me and hold my hand and walk me through this process?
I've downloaded my entire site to my desktop from a Backup provided by the hosting site. I'm not sure if this is what I need for an edit.
The hosting site gave/gives the option to download The Entire Site, or just certain folders but being "green" I wasn't sure about this option.
OTOH, If I were to start from scratch can I design A New Site Locally while the Kompozer built site stays up and then simply replace the current site with the New CS4 created one? Can I configure CS4 to Publish the changes from the existing file names and settings?
For example my current site is comprised of a single folder (on my desktop) containing 6 items total; An index.html, 4 individual jpg images and a single favicon ico (which i did upload separately as Kompozer didn't want to cooperate at the time. Admittedly I'm not even sure what FTP program I resorted to in effort to get it done ) .
I'm a little concerned I might delete a file that was there when I first set up the webhosting before I actually uploaded anything.
My web hosting provider (Blue Host)  said, Where Dreamweaver Asks What Folder on The Server Do You Want To Store Your Files In? The Path you put in is Public_html and provided a link to a tutorial but it seems it is for a New Site as opposed to editing an existing one.
A genuine Thank YOU in advance for any assistance, suggestions and Tips. I know we all have to start somewhere in effort to learn.

You really should post this in the Dreamweaver forum but if you have the FTP information for the site it's a one click procedure to download it to your local machine and work on it in Dreamweaver.

A genuine and most sincere Thank You in advance for any assistance, suggestions and learned Tips.
I know we all have to start somewhere in effort to learn.. Please be gentle with me.

I would recommend leaving your company website on the server for now until you have created your new one  :-)
On most servers, public_hmtl is the folder where all the files reside to make the website 'live'.  That's the name of the folder I have to upload all my website files to on my server as well.
Without seeing the code produced by Kompozer, and guessing it is a WYSIGWYG editor, then I'd strongly suggest that you start from new  :-)  Seeing as you only have one page at the moment, it won't be a monumental task to start over.
I'll supply you with a few tutorials found at the Adobe site that will help you get started, in particular - a tut on working with DW templates., which will be the answer for you if you have more than one page but up to 10 for example, if it's going to be much larger site, then using Server Side Includes may be the way to go.

  • Cs4 web premium on windows 2000 sp4

    Hi all,
I had to install cs4 web premium on a win 2000 server as my development box. During installation I got "unsupported configuration - ..this software requies winxp sp2 or later. please upgrade or adjust your system to meet these minimum requirements...".
How can I adjust the system?
    Regards,
    Sean

Creative Suite 4 requires at least Windows XP for installation. The adjustment in this case is to do a clean install of Window XP (or later, including Windows Vista or Windows 7) and then install CS4.

  • Install demo of CS4 Web Premium-Photoshop Installs 64 bit and x86 versions but 64 bit does not work

Just installed the CS4 Web Premium demo onto a brand new 64 bit i7 processor with Windows Seven Home Premium machine with 9gb memory. The install seems to be fine except it installed a 64 bit version as well as x86 version into different folders. The x86 version works fine but the 64 bit version does not.
Every time I try to open a file using "Open With' I get the following message "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application."
First of all why does it install both versions and why does it try to open everything in the 64bit version even after specifically telling it to open in the x86 version (even after setting the default file association to the x86 version.
I would of course like to use the 64 bit veriosn but if it not going to work. I'll use the 32 bit version. I just wantto be able to right click my mouse and be able to "Open With". I can open Photoshop 32 bit and open the file that way but it is a pain to do that way.
    Any help would be appreciated

Both are installed to allow you to use 32 bit plugins. As for the problem, you'll get far more attention in the Photoshop forum.

  • Flash will not install from CS4 Web Premium on XP

I installed CS4 Web Premium a while back and, since I do not do a lot of Flash development, I didn't realize right off that Flash CS4 did not install. However, I just tried to go back and install it from the DVD and it shows in the list but the box in front of it is uncheckable. The heading at the top says to check the boxes to install or reinstall the applications. Other programs such as Dreamweaver, Contribute, Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc. can be checked but the box in front of Flash (and Soundbooth, etc.) are unresponsive. I do still have CS3 Web Premium on this machine which has Flash CS3 Professional and Flash CS3 Video Encoder as well as also still having Studio 8 and CS 2 with Flash 8 and Flash 8 Video encoder and InDesign CS2 & CS3, Visual Communicator, VlogIt, etc.. Do I need to remove any of those first? This machine is about 3 years old (Dell Optiplex GX620) running Win XP. I'm about to upgrade to a new machine in about a month that will be running Windows 7. So I will be doing a clean install of CS4 Web Premium then. But it would be nice to fix this so I can work on some Flash files before then. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I'm assuming you are using the Manual Install. Did you already Uninstall any current Flash Player version?
If not, download and SAVE to your Desktop the Uninstaller:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Then download and SAVE to your Desktop the Installer:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
Use the EXE Installer for Windows and Internet Explorer. Use the EXE Installer for the plugin based browsers
Then use the Administrator Account and CLOSE all browser Windows. Disable any instant messenger service from the system tray.
Run the Uninstaller and reboot(restart) your computer.
Then Run the Installer and reboot.
That message appears because the IE browser window is open.
    Thanks,

  • CS4 Web Premium Installation "Installer Database Corrupt.  Contact Adobe Customer Service."

    I need help.
I just purchased a HP Envy 23 running Windows 8.  It came with Adobe Premiere and Elements 11 already installed.
I own Lightroom 3, which I installed very quickly and easily.
I own CS4 Web Premium with the serial number at hand.  I insert the disk 1 to install and the error message appears: "Installer Database Corrupt. Contact Adobe Customer Service."  After serveral attempts, I resort to researching on this forum.
In the forum, found here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1238032 I was asked to go the linked website and download and specifically follow the instructions to install CS4 from the internet.  I did what I was told as closely as possible.
I received the same error message: "Installer Database Corrupt."
I asked if I needed to uninstall Elements 11 before trying to install CS4 but haven't received a response.  Actually, now Adobe won't let me sign on with my password and when I request for a new one it doesn't send me a confirmation email so I have resorted to making a new username.
I called Adobe about the issue with the error and was directed back here to the forum because they do not have phone service support for CS2, CS3, CS4, or CS5 because it is "old" technology.  I am loosing lots of work time because I can't seem to get a quick response to my questions here on the forum.
I found another forum saying that I need to rename the file "caps.db." to "xcaps.db" and it will install just fine.  I did what it said, looking for any and every folder in both premiere and elements to rename anything that began with "caps"  After doing so, I still got the error message.
What I need to know is:
    1. How can I install CS4 Web Premium either by disk or internet without getting an error.
    2. Must I totally uninstall Elements and Premiere to get CS4 installed?  I really don't want to do that since I paid for them with the purchase of my computer.
I'd really like some answers.  Thanks.

You're going to need to be more specific about what I am supposed to do because I'm very unfamiliar with computer lingo.  I don't know what an OEM is and I am unsure about these backup disks you are referring to.  The expertise on this forum is the only lifeline I have to fixing this Adobe issue so I really want to try my best here to get things resolved.  I've not heard of deleting caps.db and haven't heard of anything to do with medai.db files before.  I'm supposed to delete these instead of renaming caps?

  • CS4 Web Premium (Student Ed) Online Install - Setup.exe does nothing

I purchased and then downloaded CS4 Web Premium Student Edition. The first download was corrupted (due to an internet failure midway) so I erased and re-downloaded. The files extracted without issue under the new download. However, whenever I attempt to install by clicking Setup.exe, nothing happens. The cursor changes into the "hourglass" as if the system is processing something, then it changes back to the normal cursor -- and nothing happens. No processes are available in the Task Manager, either.
Following advice I've found scattered across forums all over the web, I have removed every Adobe software previously installed using Control Panel (Acrobat, Reader, PsE, PrE, & a trial Illustrator), disabled User Account Control, disabled antivirus/firewall software, ran Setup "as administator", tried Safe Mode, and restarted the computer several times. None of these methods produced any change in outcome whatsoever.
I am running HP Touchsmart tx2z, less than a month old and running like a charm, with the following specs:
Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit) *I download all available updates
    AMD Turion(TM) X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile Processor ZM-87 (2.4GHz, 2MB L2 Cache)
    8GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    500GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
ATI Radeon(TM) HD 3200 Graphics with 64MB Display Cache Memory
Devoid of other advice, I will try reseting my system to factory defaults. However, I dread re-downloading the 4GB file (an 8 hour process), reconfiguring my system, backing all of my files up elsewhere, and reinstalling all other new software -- so any ideas are appreciated.

    extra information,
when i run setup for premiere CS4 and open the setup in windows task the size is the same as the setup folder.
when i run setup for web premium CS4 and lopen the setup in windows task the size is 0,0 mb.
think this is the reason why the setup wont start.
hope this extra information is of any use

  • CS4 Web Premium (Dreamweaver mostly) PC or Mac

    Hi
I am looking to purchase CS4 web premium (dreamweaver, fireworks, photoshop, illustrator etc..)
I currently own a windows vista laptop with a 14" screen, so I am wanting to purchase a new machine with a bigger 22"+ screen.  My question is should I go for a pc or a mac.  Which is best for running the software?
I am using the software to design my own web sites only, so not for other commercial work.  I am looking at static sites and eventually database driven sites. Mac or Pc which is best for me.  Thanks

Any of them will do. If it's just for your personal needs - go cheap and buy a PC. Better bang for the buck. You can find some decent mini/ micro PCs that should be sufficient for web design, occasional Photoshopping and even games and generally have a wider choice of options. The only alternative to this on the Mac side would be a Mac mini or an iMac, but iMac screens are rubbish and the cost of a Mac mini plus an eye-friendly LCD screen is still higher than a comparable PC+screen. Of course, the bigger the budget you have, the less critical this becomes...

  • How to upgrade multiple CS4 WEB Premium to multiple Creative Cloud using the same Adobe account?

    Hi all!
    Sorry for my english speaking...
On my company Adobe Account I registred three Adobe CS4 Web Premium, that I use in my company on three different PC's.
Now I would to upgrade my three Adobe CS4 Web Premium buying three Creative Cloud subscriptions with the special discount that I find on https://creativecloud-specialoffer.adobe.com/special-offer/?loc=en_US .
So I registred three orders of Creative Cound subscriptions on my Adobe Account, but today I got a e-mail from Adobe that says that Adobe refuses two of my orders because only one Creative Cloud subscription is admissible for each Adobe Account that has at least one Adobe product serial number registred.
How can I solve this issue? Must I split my three Adobe CS4 Web Premium on three different Adobe IDs? Can I do it?
    Many thanks,
    Walter

    Hi Carol,
many many thanks for your quick reply!
In other words I must pay a 61$/mo subscription instead the 36$/mo subscriptions for 2 of 3 users, isnt it?
But in this way I will spend about 600$ more for the first year.
I always buyed genuine Adobe products, it is demralizing to spend 600$ only because a multiple-subscription restriction fot those that registred all the products per Adobe ID...
    Other solutions?
    Walter

  • Upgrading from CS3 Web Standard to CS4 Web Premium problems

So I got my CS4 Web Premium upgrade box in the mail yesterday.  I'll be starting a big project in about a week or so and figured I'd do the install and familiarize myself with the enhancements and play with PS, as it has been a while.  Anyway, I drop the first of the install disks into my XP Pro SP3 laptop and off I go.  I enter the serial number for the CS4 which checks good.  Hit next at which point it looks for a previous install of a CS product and does not find one.  No problem, I think to myself, as there is a space to enter the previous version's serial number.  Enter the serial for the previous version (CS3 Web Standard) which results in a no go in resolving the number.  The tool suggests I go back and install the trial version and then deal with the issue with Adobe support.  Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so could you please share your experiences and/or resolution path?

I did my homework on this one and purchased the "Upgrade from Creative Suite 3.x" offering.  The CS3 works like a champ.  When I attempt to do the install of CS4 I get the error message when I enter the CS3 serial number.  Any thoughts, guidance or suggestions are welcomed.  I'm resistant to going the trial version route for fear that I'll not get resolution in time and have my project impacted.  I can probably get by with Fireworks, but PS is preferred and the driving reason for the upgrade.  Thanks!

  • No Acrobat Pro 9 in CS4 Web Premium?

I purchased an upgrade from Studio 8 to CS4 Web Premium via the Adobe Store and downloaded all of the files listed on the download page. When I was done running all of the install programs, which included some add-on fonts and other stuff, I could not find Acrobat Pro 9. After reviewing all of the documentation and searching the KB and forums, I initiated a chat but the agent claimed that he couldn't access those records and told me to call the 800 number. I called but after listening to crummy music for 15 minutes, I hung up. Next, I submitted a Customer Service ticket. The ticket has sat there for 3 days with no response. I've posted a comment each day voicing my frustration, to no avail. Not getting any help, I downloaded Acrobat Pro 9 Pro Trial Edition and installed it, only to find out that my serial number didn't work on that installation of Acrobat Pro. Today I called the 800 number again and got through to a human. Maybe it was a language barrier but I had to repeat everything 3 times and then she would tell me to do something that I just told her I had already done. Finally I was transferred to someone I could understand and who could understand me. I also learned that no Acrobat Pro 9 install except the one with the suite would work so I removed Acrobat 9 Pro Trial Edition. Finally, after many questions and checking everything we could think of, he suggested trying the installer again to see if Acrobat 9 Pro was listed as one of the programs in the suite but just didn't get installed. I found no Acrobat 9 Pro on the list of available software listed on the installer screen. I have updated that second ticket which was started by the final person I spoke to and I sit here waiting. I want my software and want someone to tell me how to obtain the product I paid for! With so many companies finally taking an interest in customer service and support, Adobe sure doesn't seem to be following that trend. This is one of the worst support experiences that I have had for a long time. Granted, I only interact with support systems occasionally but even so... I love the note saying the "We would love to hear from you" but the only method to contact them is by phone. How many people are going to wait for such a long time just to tell someone that they provide poor customer service?

Why don't you call support again and ask if you can have a copy of the discs with your serial number? I don't know if there is a small fee but I prefer to have discs than a download. Then you can try reinstalling.
