On Windows 8.0/8.1, there are two "versions" of Internet Explorer (one is the "Modern" App, and one is the "Desktop" Application).
The Modern IE, already has Adobe Flash available to it, but some websites don't like it that way.
An alternative is to use the Desktop IE, which is almost exactly like the IE provided in previous versions of Windows.

For myself, I use mainly Windows7, and some Win8.1 - on both, I have become used to using WindowsLogoKey+D (to get to the Desktop), and WindowsLogoKey+E (to open Windows File Explorer), and, WindowsLogoKey (by itself) to access the Start/Search functions.
You could contact Dell to see if they offer a Windows7 "downgrade" option for this computer, but MS don't sell Windows7 any more.

My iTunes suddenly stopped working and doesn't recognize any of my devices and gives me a AMD error. I've tried several times to uninstall all Apple programs and reinstall to no avail. Hello Community, I hope ya'll can help me. I have a Dell Laptop with a 32-bit Operating System, running Windows 8 with Media Center. I Upgraded to Windows 8.1 recently. Some of my Apps I had with Win. 8 were not compatible with 8.1. This next is my problem, When I install iTunes everything downloads fine until I click finish. @ windows pop up, 1 after the other. The 1st one says, " Application Apple Support not found, Uninstall iTunes and try download again. " Then a second window says, " Error 2 ", "The iTunes Application cannot run without the Apple Support ...." What is this "Error 2" and is there a fix for this? I appreciate everyones knowledge in helping me come to a solution. as I aint no hi-tech redneck! Thank you, Bob Bryan

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if one component, such as Apple Application Support, won't install normally.

Windows 8/Firefox 19/Dell Laptop Any way to decouple High contrast from my color settings?
I find the following note on Firefox help pages:
"Firefox automatically detects if you are using a High Contrast theme and displays everything in your high contrast color scheme. This overrides all other other browser or web page settings, and it affects the Firefox interface itself (all menus, windows, and dialog boxes) and the content of any web page you visit."
Is there any way of decoupling this behavior? It makes some of the web pages I read unusable. The fact is, Win8 seems much worse than Win7 in allowing the user to have flexibility in their color selections. For my color blindness, I cannot seem to find a workable standard color scheme. The high contrast is no great shakes, but is the best of the lot. The coupling of FF display to high contrast seems particularly odd since FF seems to have all the tools necessary to allow a user to configure their pages that way anyway.
Any pointers people can provide would be great - even pointers on how to get to Win7 style color personalizations which I cannot find - largely because I cannot read the screen easily!

I am unable to install itunes 10.4.1 on my dell laptop windows 7 64 bit:
i have tried to install itunes on my windows 7 64 bit dell laptop, and everytime it says installation successfully installed, but i can't find the files anywhere in the computer, i searched all the locations, desktop ... but nothing found.
Troubleshooting Done:
- Tried different itunes versions; didnt work.
- Tried to install on different locations on my computer.. C:, D:... didnt work.
- I empty Temp files from all users on my computers who are (Me & Admin) only; didnt work.
- i removed all related apple files; same.
- Uninstall all apple related support ... etc..; didnt work.
- I have Admin access to all my files and also tried to install from Admin account; didnt work.
I don't know what else i can do, please advise me on how to fix it, i need to backup my iphone & ipad ASAP.

When I print to “Adobe PDF” from Safari, the last several lines are compressed leaving blank space at the bottom of the page where the normal size lines would normally be. My computer is saying it can't find the file 'iTunes64.msi' when I try to update or redownload iTunes how do I fix this? I've tried just about everything I can think of. I am using a dell laptop running windows 7 and have tried changing the file location to run the update in all of my iTunes files as well as when I've tried reinstalling it.

Trying to burn a playlist in itunes and i get this message at the end 'The attempt to burn a disc failed. An nknown error occurred (4450)'. This is with a new Dell laptop running windows 8. The playlist was 17 songs from cd's and itunes. Any ideas?

This is how I managed to fix the problem...and I hope this helps others in the similar situation.
I tried with another program..latest version of Nero, and this was also stopping at the 'initialising' stage. I was now lost! I thought the last resort is to give Evesham (My PC manufacturer) a buzz. They were very helpfull. Basically go into 'Control Panel', 'System', and click on the Hardware tab, then 'Device Manager'. Uninstall everything in the DVD/CDRom Drives. Then uninstall everything under the catagory IDE ATA/Atapi disk controllers. This is where my problem was, as I only had one IDE channel here. You should have 4 or 5! Reboot your machine, and everything will automatically re-load. I tried burning using Nero and it worked. Then the big test was iTunes. It worked 1st time!
I asked why the IDE channels have dissappearred, and he said sometimes uninstalling Programmes occasionally removes them.
I hope this will help others who are having problems to burn stuff on iTunes. -
Having trouble when I launch iTunes (version 11.0.2) on my Dell Laptop running Windows 7 Professional (service pack 1). I get an error message indicating software required to communicate with iPod and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you? I normally respond with OK and it immediately tells me "could not be repaired. Please reinstall iTunes..." I have done this a number of times to no avail.
I also notice Quicktime is not getting installed at all.
That one is normal nowadays (ever since the iTunes versions 10.5.x).
The software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you?

I recently tried to upgrade my itunes on my dell laptop with 64 bit windows 7. It stopped working so I deleted all files and tried to reinstall and haven't been able to since. I've tried numerous things i've read in forums and nothing seems to work. The installation will not move past the "publishing product information" point. After being stuck there for a while this error message appears:

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 800736FD, or some other number? (If they're another number, what number are you getting?

The description says it all. I bought a movie on iTunes but when I try to watch it plays back slowly with no sound. Then the video will speed up and the sound will work for a moment then off again and back to slow motion. I have a dell laptop running windows 7

Trying to download PS CC on second computer (dell laptop-windows 7) but get error that I should close Bridge.exe ........................this file is not open..........I have both cs4 and cs5.1 on this laptop..............as well as the associated bridge files...........should I uninstall all of the OLD PS stuff, before attempting to install the PS CC..........................keep in mind I want to also download LR 5, after PS CC is installed correctly.
Terminate the process in task manager or turn off Minibridge in the PS prefs and restart your system.

Hello, I am not able to download itunes 10.5 on my dell laptop. It says to try to download separately and then install. However, an error message still comes up. Due to this, I am not able to update any applications. I am using windows vista. If I reinstall itunes entirely, will I loose my many playlists that I have? And will this effect the same playlist that I have on my ipod???
Installing, and uninstalling, applications never touches or removes the data.
Clean out and uninstall all the apple programs and software thru Programs and manually.
Might want to use Revo and CCleaner
I always use manual standalone installers (and keep a couple backup versions)
itunes 10.5 may affect iTunes media playlists, not sure, depends on what you have.
A search of these forums will show some threads.
I'd clean up vista, you need SP2 or later, and specific error message?
I wonder as you arenot the first with a dell if maybe the OS or included software.
Security programs like Norton and older versions of Kaspersky have been implicated.
Also settings in IE that affect pop-ups and plug-ins.
