Windows 8 free upgrade tool for model VPCF226FM

Hi everyone I used before to download the free upgrade tool from support website, where it helped me to uninstall incompitable drivers/tools/utilities and re-install them later after upgrading to Windows 8 I am not able to find that tool anymore and downloading/installing drivers one by one is not working fine. I have removed power management & Vaio control center and re-installed more than dozen time and still have same issue as unable to use FN keys to control brightness

Hi athensguy,
Thank you for considering Sony Community!
I am not sure what specific application you used before but all drivers and software that is compatible with your machine are listed on eSupport website. If you are refereeing to the upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8, please visit this link: Windows® 8 Upgrade Instructions for VAIO® PCs
If your main issue is the function key (Fn), you may follow these steps to troubleshoot the laptop.
Power Cycle - Remove the battery and all peripherals -> press and hold the power button for 5 seconds
Reset BIOS.
Got o Device Manager -> Keyboards -> right click Keyboard driver -> Uninstall (DO NOT DELETE) -> restart the laptop. The driver will be reinstalled.
Download or update all the drivers from eSupport website.
For further assistance, we kindly recommend visiting our Sony Global Web site for information on contacting the Sony Support Center in your region at http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/Support/.
Hope these help.
Thanks,

As far as I can tell, it works on my machine (tm), but I would still like some feedback before I upload it to the AUR.

    namcap says:
PyMbs-hg E: No upper case letters in package names
PyMbs-hg W: No ELF files and not an "any" package
PyMbs-hg E: Dependency python detected and not included (programs ['python'] needed in scripts ['usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/PyMbs/Graphics/osgviewerQt4.py'])
The first error is obvious, the last error seems like it might need fixing since python3 is the default in Arch. I'm not sure about the warning; I don't know if .pyc files are architecture specific

Evernote I use for storing things. Some of which probably shouldn't be stored, but as I don't make it obvious what they're about it would be pretty useless for anyone.

  • HT3986 can I use the windows 7 UPGRADE version for this?

I'm thinking about installing Windows 7 to use with Boot Camp .... can I use an Upgrade version of Windows?

As the hatter said, you CAN use the Upgrade version of Windows 7. Here's more details:
Install Windows 7 normally, using Boot Camp and your Win 7 Upgrade disk. Use the "Custom (Advanced)" option.
When it asks you to enter your product key / license, don't enter anything -- just hit Next. This will allow you to continue installing Windows with a 30-day trial.
After you've installed Windows 7, stay in Windows (don't boot to OSX) and put your Win 7 Upgrade disk back in the drive, and run the Setup file that's on the disk.
This will guide you through the upgrade process. This time, instead of Custom, use the "Upgrade" option.
When it asks you, go ahead and type in your product key, and choose to Activate.
However, please note that if you do this, and you DON'T already own a previous version of Windows (and stop using that previous version immediately), you'll be violating the software license agreement. These are the requirements to use the Upgrade version. If you don't meet these requirements, I strongly recommend you install with a full version of Windows 7.

Having a very similar problem on my G700 - Windows Update will download the Windows 10 update (2.7GB of it downloaded 27 times now!) but then fails during the installation Error 80070003 I think was the latest 2 fails. Having given up on ever managing to do things that way around, went to Microsoft site, got the Windows 10 ISO, started the process that way. Get this far:  So, I assume that the laptop shipped with a LEGAL OEM version of Windows 8 but the Windows Key it uses is not accepted by the W10 .ISO update. Please help. Edit: Due to reboots make that 29 x 2,712.6 MB - I can see my ISP sending me a LARGE bill over this debarcle!

  • I still didn't receive my free upgrade code for ML

What should i do if i am already waiting for my code for almost 5 day's and i still didn't heard anything from apple yet?

Be thankful, I downloaded mine on Friday and spent the whole day Sunday trying to take it off! The can't now my harddrive is failing & I have a Macbook Pro that is bearly 2 years old! Now I have the pleasure of going to the Apple store for face to face tech support since it kept failing with phone support. • Windows 10 Upgrade via Windows Media Creation Tool ; Clean Installation

I installed Windows 10 via Media tool in usp. I cleared my hard drive partition, the Recovery and System Partition, for me to be able to install Windows 10. It went smoothly until it asks for the product key. I had Genuine Windows 8.1 with bing, and I recently bought the laptop. Is there any possible way to obtain a product key? After all, Windows 10 upgrade is for free  for Genuine Windows and I had one.

Thank you for your reply. The machine I am writing you on is the machine. I cloned the drive . However I have a new drive I want to due a clean install on.  At first I needed a key. I have no idea where it is located. On the back of the machine next to the win 8 lable it says itis located in the battery compartment. There are quite a new numbers and letter combinations there but none of them say product key. Also I was told it is imbedded into the motherboard. Any ideas on that?
