Windows tell me that I have the following Important update:
Hewlett-Packard  - Imaging, Other hardware - Null Print - HP Photosmart 7520 series  Download size: 12.4 MB
But everytime I try to download the update it fails.

    akadede wrote:
I downloaded the latest Full feature software for the 7520.
Restarted the computer and the Important Update notice is still there.
I will wait a few more days to see if the notice will clear up.
I understand that the initial issue is resolved: You have been able to update the software.
The notice may or may not clear on its own; it depends on the origin of the Notice.
The program managing the Update may have to be reset, run again to check to Updates, cleared in some manner.

  • Windows 8 update failure at 15% (% may vary) - fixed.

New G580, with Windows 8 factory installed, would not get beyond 15% updated. This despite it having several tries (three?), then finally giving up and automatically removing the updates.
I ran the update fix offered, and a second session of trying to update still did not work after multiple automatic attempts.
Installing the updates 5 or 6 at a time (oldest ones first) works.
Takes an age to do, as there is a reboot after every update, but after 5 or 6 update sessions it is finally done.
Now I'm sure in the past Windows updates on a new machine used to come in dribs and drabs over the first few days use, so why try and do them all at once (and fail, and not be able to sort itself out)?

  • IPhoto import Browser failure, after security update?

Hi, Anyone else had this problem?
    iPhoto import Browser failure.
No Events or Albums show, although PhotoBooth is visible, error message 'Open iPhoto 5 or later to see photos...'
This used to work, but not since installing Security Update 2010-006 (1.0),
    with "iTunes" (10.0.1) and JavaForMacOSX10.6Update3.
    Using iPhoto '09 (8.1.2), iMovie '09 (8.0.6).
Heard mention that now only alpha-numeric characters are allowed for file names and titles, so started replacing "&", apostrophes, etc. But there are a LOT of photos to change!
    Console shows:
    [0x0-0x15015].com.apple.iPhoto[264]
    MRMovieServer[273] <Error>: kCGErrorFailure
Tried repairing permissions, but got a warning about a SUID file has been modified and will not be repaired, (not sure if this is relevant).
Removed com.apple.iApps.plist and com.apple.iMovie8.plist, which then gave a slightly different view of the browser in iMovie.
Can no longer drag items from iPhoto either!
Any ideas of how to proceed (and remain sane)?

    Hi,
I've had something like this, since October.
Firstly, In the Utilities folder, open Disk Utility, select the disk where the Applications are (Main hard disk) click First Aid, then "Repair Permissions". Leave it running with nothing else open.
When finished, open iMovie, click the photo browser icon, any luck?
Seen an Apple support doc 'Cannot see iPhoto in other Apps', basically you may be right about ampersands & apostrophes.
In iPhoto, look at all your smart album names for non-alpha-numeric characters, and replace or delete the possible culprits. I had lots of these, including brackets (which were not a problem until recently). Keep checking your smart albums to find others, such as these: !@£$%^&()[]{}'\"|~.
Quit iPhoto and all other iLife Apps, then in your home folder, Library, Preferences, move 'com.apple.iApps.plist' to the desktop (this will be recreated when you next open an iApp/iLife application, such as iPhoto).
You may need to remake the iPhoto AlbumData.xml file, after all that name editing. See later.
Open iMovie and click the photo browser icon, if you still get the message, rather than Albums and Events, Quit iMovie.
Open iPhoto, double check your source list for folders which you may have smart albums in, (click the triangle to the left of any folders that you've made to reveal their contents). Repeat the search and replace of special characters. I'd missed a few, hiding in folders.
Now would be a good time to remake the iPhoto 'AlbumData.xml' file.
Quit all applications, go to your Pictures folder, iPhoto Library, ctrl-click, 'Show package contents', drag 'AlbumData.xml' to the desktop.
    Close the finder windows.
Open iPhoto, create a new album, then Quit, (this should remake the xml file).
Open iMovie again and click the photo browser icon. This is the point where I had success, I hope it works for you as well.
    All the best, Ian

  • Windows 8.1 Update Failure : We couldn't complete the updates, Undoing changes

Yesterday I built my first computer and I installed Windows 8.1 on it, everything was running perfectly fine until today. This morning I had an update notification and I installed it, about half way through the update an error occurred and it said it couldn't
complete the update and it was undoing the changes. I left it on that screen for about an hour and nothing happened. I tried finding what the update was, so I went to recently installed updates, and there was about 40 of them from just today. Whenever I tried
to uninstall any of the updates, it said error, preventing me from deleting any of the updates. I was wondering if anyone could help me try to uninstall/re-install this update.

    Hi Kmanxx,
The update failure might be caused by a variety of reasons such as connection issues, incomplete Components and firewall. For troubleshooting, specific error code of the failure update will be helpful.
You also could find installation failure events and error code in log files, such as WindowsUpdate.log (C:\Windows\ WindowsUpdate.log) and CBS.log(C:\windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log). Here you first want to search for “error” in your logs. This will search for
Error entries. Focus on the day the installation attempt occurred. Refer to your time line of update log, find what error happened. Of course you could post your log content and we’d like to give it a look.
How to collect the specific error code of failure update:
We can do this by viewing your update history.
    1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen (or, if you're using a mouse, pointing to the lower-right corner of the screen and moving the mouse pointer up), and tap or click Settings.
    2. Tap or click Change PC settings, and then Update and recovery.
    3. Tap or click View your update history.
    View failed update error code.

  • Windows update failures over the past several months

I'm having the same issues regarding windows update failures as many documented in this forum. I have run the repairs recommended, drive scans, etc. with no success. I'm at the point that I think that it would be better to cut off the update notice. I have
zipped up the files recommended and posted them on my skydrive site. That location is https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=C1221863E15FBC11&id=C1221863E15FBC11%211274.
    Please help. Joe Collins

at the point that I think that it would be better to cut off the update notice.
You may be right.  Try eliminating WU from a symptom description.  E.g. pick one of the updates which is available as a download and try installing it that way.  Just use WU as a guide for what you should download and install manually.
I imagine that if that works eventually WU will repair itself and realize that it doesn't need to do anything else for you.
A search to support the idea of manual download and install acting as a workaround for this symptom:

Another suggestion which could be implied by your diagnostics would be to uninstall your Norton package (and any of the other interferers which are mentioned that would be suspect).  Norton is notorious for interference with updating and is also known
to interfere even when it is supposedly disabled and is also known interfere even when it has supposedly been uninstalled, so who knows what the cause of the problem is, corruption or blocking, you could at least change your POQexec.log by taking such
    manual action.
BTW what have you done exactly about trying to repair WU?  You could save yourself a lot of manual effort if you could get it working properly.
Otherwise, on the manual update tack I would try doing first the ones which arrive in pieces.  Search WindowsUpdate.log for  Downloading  for clues that way.
    Good luck

  • I downloaded the latest important update to windows vista yesterday, and since then Firefox crashes very soon after enetering the portal of any website I visit, and I want to know if the windows vista update could be doing this?

Yesterday (23rd March) my computer appeared to perform an auto update of windows vista and since then every time time use firefox it crashes shortly after entering a web portal (after about 1-5 seconds). It even crashes on the BBC news page which I always use to check stability. I have been using Firefox for years and it has just started doing this. However, I examined the programme files and actaully cannot see a windows vista update for yesterday, but I can see that there was a Firefox update, so now I'm a bit confused. Looking at the program files in more details it appears that there was a very major update of Firefox taking place including lots of file extensions. You should also know that your password recovery process doesn't work. I never got the email that is supposed to help me recover a lost password. I am really disappointed with Firefox doing this. It's costing me time and money. Can you help before I give up and go back to using Windows explorer (ugh!). I have thought of simply removing Firefox and starting again with a new download but that might not solve the probelm and I will lose my bookmarks.

I have an update to my message posted yesterday regarding Firefox crash after vista update. Today it got worse when Firefox wouldn't open at all and Windows explorer also stopped working. Curiously, email was still working, and when I checked another (little used) account on the same PC, I got a perfect connection with Firefox and Explorer. I had to conclude that the latest updates of Vista have interacted with some application only found in my main account on the PC. I tried opening Firefox in its safe mode and I tried opening explorer without Plug ins, but neither worked. Finally I decided the only answer was to do a system restore and wind back the windows software to where it was before the problem. I now have Firefox and explorer restored to working order, but I still don't understand why, because I got a message saying the system restore hasn't worked. Full Comprehension of the cause is beyond my capability, but through trial and error as described above I seem to have fixed it. The suspect vista updates are KB2505189 , and KB2524375.

  • Does anyone know how to solve: "Firmware update failure. Disk write error"?

    Hi all,
Here is the list of all what went wrong and where I am now:
    1. My Ipod worked well
    2. I wanted to update it, you know, the normal thing with Itunes
    3. Every time I tried, my computer froze. I was unable to add only one song (both automatically and manually).
    4. I took my external drive (where my music is) at work and tried again: same result.
    5. I decided to run the Updater I have on the CD that came with the Ipod.(2005-02-07; I usually avoid the newer version, having had once a problem when putting a newer version of Updater).
    6. The Updater was unable to operate any action on my Ipode (I don't remember the messages now).
    7. Like I tried what I describe here above like a hundred time. I decided to format the Ipod with Windows (My Computer, right click on the Ipod, format).
    8. It did and now I have only the famous folder with an exclamation mark on my Ipod.
    9. Now when I am running the Updater, it says it cannot Restore the factory settings giving this message "Firmware update failure. Disk write error".
I would appreciate any help because, during the last 2 hours, I read and tried all I found on the Support Help here on the Apple web side without any result yet.
Thank a lot for your answer

  • Exchange 2007 SP3 RU13 showing RU8-v2 as an Important Update

Hi, I'm curious about this update that's showing up.  The server is a physical Windows 2008 x64 with SP2, with Exchange 2007 (all roles) installed (it's a standalone Exchange server).  As of a couple months ago it was on Exchange 2007 SP1, and
I manually installed the SP3 and then the RU13 for SP3 updates.  That all went smoothly.  Since doing that, though, RU8-v2 for SP3 shows up as an Important Update in Windows Update.
I've confirmed that it shows as version 08.03.0348.002 when checking the version of exsetup, and just doing help > about in EMC.
Any thoughts or places I might be able to look to answer why it wants to install this?  Also curious if it would be safe to approve this update?  Thanks for any help.

I wouldn't worry if UR13 is installed and shows in Add/Remove program, exsetup.exe and help-about...

I have ignored this issue for long enough.  I have Adobe CS4, with Acrobat Pro version 9.3.4.  Windows 7.  Acrobat updater pops up on my machine, and when I execute the update requested, the updater gives me the update failure message, with code 1604, "error applying transforms."
I have seen solutions posted for this tranforms message, but it was a problem with Acrobat 8.  I have seen no solutions as of yet for Acrobat 9, so I thought I would post.
I also tried opening Acrobat 9 Pro, and under the help tab, I initiated "repair".  I get the same transform error message as above.  Any advice anyone?  Should I just uninstall Acrobat 9 Pro and reinstall using my CS4 disk?
    Thanks for the help!

If you have original CD with Acrobat installation, copy all files with extension .mst from this CD to the following location:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Setup Files\[ProductCode]   if this is 64bit system
    or
    C:\Program Files\Acrobat 9.0\Setup Files\[ProductCode]   if this is 32bit system
where [ProductCode] is a unique value which identifies your language version of Acrobat 9 Pro.
    If this is EFG version, it should be {AC76BA86-1033-F400-7760-000000000004}
If location does not exist, create it.
    2. If you do not have original CD and cannot find .mst files, provide the exact Product name including language and I will provide further instructions.

  • Import updates from dvd or otherwise filter updates

There are many updates available for our WIndows 7 clients. I would like to install all security updates for Windows 7 machine which are needed on the machines.
When i want to filter the updates in SCE 2007 to lets say Windows 7 they are not only filtered on Windows 7 but there are many more updates between them. Only need the Windows 7 updates together to approve them for the clients. When i must select them between
the thousand other updates it costs me days....
I have the Windows 7 updates on DVD. Is it possible to import them in to a specific group in SCE 2007 from that DVD? It must be deployed to 100's of clients so manually is not a option or there must be a good way to filter only WIndows 7 updates in SCE or
    another method?
The dvd can be started with updateinstaller.exe on the dvd which installs all updates on that dvd but thats not a option..

  • Really frustrating update failures. Slowed down my PC by 1000 times

Hello, I've been using windows 8 from its beta days. But after upgrading to windows 8.1, every major update seems to fail. I've also looked into the history and tried installing them manually but it fails after the stage "copying packages to the windows
update package". And if this isn't bad enough, my laptop takes about 20-25 minutes to shut down. It keeps showing "preparing updates, please don't turn off your computer".
I am getting really frustrated since there is nothing I can do about this. And this doesn't seem to be the first time, it happens every time there is a major update.
Also after this update failures, i seem to have other issues such as
Wifi stops working after 5 minutes of youtube streaming
chrome crashes more often than ever
performance in general has been absolutely awful
None of these happened before. Also I do not have any viruses or malwares.
    Currently failed updates.
    KB2887595
    KB2919355
Should i just downgrade back to windows 7? Or is there a permanent solution to this problem.
Also when I install the update manually, the error says "The system cannot find the path specified"

    Hi,
Are there any error code? please also check Windows\logs\cbs for the detailed information.
for KB 2919255, this is a known update , we call it Windows 8.1 update 1, you can refer to this link ans see if it can help you
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-8/install-latest-update-windows-8-1
You can also clear the software distribution folder, then install the updates again.
At the Command Prompt type the following commands one at a time:
    net stop wuauserv   hit enter
    net stop bits     hit enter
Now browse to the C:\Windows\Software Distribution folder and delete all the files and folders inside.
    net start wuauserv     hit enter
    net start bits    hit enter
Meanwhile, keep your windows uo to date before installing the two updates. KB 2919442 is the prerequisite to install KB 2919355
