Windows 8 Install and Keyboard and Trackpad Unavailable

Hello,
I have tried several methods during searches to remedy my issue.  I have successfully gotten to the "Personalization" screen during my Windows 8 install on my Macbook Pro Retina 13" Late 2013.  However, once there, my keyboard and trackpad are unavailable.
I have followed the Bootcamp instructions
Tried the right to left USB drive switch "fix"
Made certain to download the latest Bootcamp support files
Restarted many times over the last 2 days
From what I have learned, many seem to indicate there is a compatibility issue between between Windows 8 and Bootcamp driver files for the keyboard and trackpad.  However, I have yet to find a remedy. I am pressed for time, as I have an assignment due and I absolutely need Windows for it.  But after days of working at this, I am not confident I can truly run Windows on my Mac.
Any help to finish my Windows 8 install with access to my keyboard and trackpad available is greatly appreciated!
Thank you.

Hi:
That model number does not turn up in the support site.
Please recheck it.

Depending on the hardware it has, there are some models that can't have W7 installed on them, due to the fact that there are no W7 drivers for some of the hardware.

  • Re-install of keyboard and mouse driver

Re: HP Envy 17t-3000 CTO Notebook PC
I want to re-install the original keyboard and mouse driver. I have the original discs -- how do I do it?
    Thanks

If you are only talking about keyboard and mouse then it do not require additional installation as the it will be installed automatically. IN addition you can install this software:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-111895-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
    ALSO
Try installing HP Support Assistant which will automatically download and install drivers/updates:

    Wish you luck,

  • MBP going crazy mouse and keyboard and everything in between

Oh this is my third attempt at posting this thing and I am ready to slam my MBP in a brick wall!!!!! the only reason i know this time it won't mess up is that i am typing from my Pmac G4.
anyway.... two issues... the first one happens occasionally while i am typing, the last 2 times while i was typing in this post to ask for help, for no reason that i can see out of nowhere the computer just started deleting everything i had typed as if someone were holding down the delete key, i did the updates recently and fixed the issue the update had with version CUE, but now this is happening
the other issue unlike the first locks the keyboard and renders it useless, or sometime it will lock the mouse/trackpad, sometimes if i put it to sleep and wake it the problem is usually gone temporarily, but that doesn't always work.
last thing i should mention is that this is my 3rd MBP the first won was giving me the green lines on the screen, the second was whinny and hot, and now this.....am i just unlucky or do they just sell their craptacular laptops to me only

I just got home from the apple store and discovered a whole new problem with the laptop, when i woke it from sleep my desktop icons were all distorted as well as the menu bar on the top. Luckily, given that this was my third MBP the management at the local apple store agreed to allow to me to exchange the machine beyond the 15 days which have already expired.
The best part is that the 1.83, is discontinued so i should be getting a 2.0 plus a one-hundred dollar refund as the price has also dipped since i purchased it, i would have still prefered to get a working machine back in march when i made the initial purchase, but looks like i'll be spending most of tomorrow, re-installing all my applications.
    Hopefully for the last time!

  • Display turns off and keyboard and sound disabled when bumped?

I have a Powerbook G4 12". My computer works great when it is running, but if i bump it from the bottom, my screen turns off, sound and keyboard stop working as well, but can still hear the fan running. I hold the power button until it shuts down, and then restart it and everything is fine, until i bump it again.
Another problem that might be related is that sometimes when i open up my computer to wake is from sleep mode, the computer turns on, but the screen and all functions do not work. An this is even if i do not bump it.
    Thanks for any help!
    Michael

My G4 Power had no display so I plugged it into an external monitor. This gave me a display but then I found the keyboard and trackpad were not working. I used an external keyboard and USB mouse to start System Profiler. This told me that the Powerbook was operating in clamshell mode. The most likely reason is the reed switch that detects when the display is closed is jammed. It is no easy task to replace this switch: http://tinyurl.com/4uourh
I would be interested in any less subtle ways to fix the problem (eg waving a strong magnet near it)?

  • TS3048 I am usng a bluetooth keyboard with my Mac and some of the keys are not working.  They are the numbers 1 through  9.  I have gone through the troubleshooting for mouse and keyboard and everything looks good. How can I get them to work again?

Hi,  I am using a Mac computer that my husband set up.  I have worked on it recently with no problems.  Today, I am having problems with the bluetooth keyboard not  working properly.  The numbers 1 through 9 do not work.  I have gone through troubleshooting wireless mouse and keyboard issues and everything looks good.  Except, when I check the keys on the keyboard viewer, these keys still do not work.  The webpage guides me through and at this point I do not know what to do next, because the keyboard is still not working properly.  I sure hope there are some experienced people in the community to help me.  What should I do?

    Hi:
I wish my suggestion had gotten you further.
I do suggest you try to connect the keyboard again.  The request for a number is a step in it trying to pair.  If it gets by the number, it sometimes takes a little while to get connected.  If you are unable to get it connected and want a new one, I have been using Apple Bluetooth keyboards for years - and I like them. The one I have (the newest model) only uses two batteries and is very thin.
Speaking of batteries, if you are not already doing so, you might consider rechargeables.  I have a drawer full of them and use a 15 minute charger.  I go tired of buying batteries and rechargeables are environmentally friendly to boot. At the moment, I use 2450 mAh Energizers and a 15 minute Energizer charger (all purchased new on eBay at a very reasonable price).
I am far from an iPad "expert," although I have one.  If my suggestion below does not help, post your question in a separate thread in the iPad forum.
I had a terrible time syncing my iCal on my Mac with my iPad iCal (confusing - hopefully it makes sense).  I quit using iCloud as that added to the confusion. There is a facility to one-time sync items.  When you connect your computer to your iPad, iTunes opens.  The system begins a process (automatic backup and so on). After it finishes, you can click on "info."  At the bottom of the screen, there is an advanced section.  You can select any of the items and then force it to sync. The iCal information from your computer would be deposited on the iPad.
After all that, I do not use a Google calendar so the information may be worthless to you.
If you want to reset the iPad to factory settings, you can do that when it is connected to iTunes (one of the options).  Me being me, I try never to erase anything.

  • How do I install a keyboard and mouse drivers if Windows is down Pavilion a1630n

Windows on My Pavilion boots and comes up but it sits there on the monitor as no input device keyboard or mouse are registering. I did a virus scan with a rescue disk but nothing found. I boot with Ubuntu and it works fine.
    What can I do?

Hello PCcurious, Have you tried to enter the BIOS with the keyboard? The BIOS should have support for the keyboard even before Windows is loaded.
If you can manage to get into the BIOS, you can set the keyboard for no errors.
You might also try reseting the BIOS if this does not work.
Please click the White Kudos star on the left, to say thanks.

  • Recovery disks, or Vanilla Windows install on Q770 and 2nd HDD

On Qosmio Q770 need to reinstall windows,
Was thining of Using the recovery disks, or just vanilla win 7 and then add drivers I need.
question with the recovery disks will it touch the 2nd hard disk as that is where all my data is living?
    Thanks
    LoonyT

In my opinion you should install Windows using original recovery disc. It is much easier and you must not install all drivers, tools and utilities. All this stuff is included in recovery image. After recovery image installation just configure OS and you can remove some applications that you dont need.
I dint test it but Im pretty sure second disc will not be changed, just the main hard disc so your data should be safe. You can do back-up anyway.

  • Windows installed an update and now Lightroom 5 keeps showing an error message and then closes.

Windows updated and now  when I try to open Lightroom it gives me a message that says "Lightroom encountered an error when reading it's preview cache and will try again when restarted"  Restarting it does no good at all.

The problem you are experiencing is not related to a Windows update. The preview cache has become corrupted. You need to use Windows Explorer or Finder to open the folder that contains your catalog. Locate the folder that has the extension .lrdata and delete that entire folder. Then start Lightroom as you normally do. Lightroom will be in building a new preview folder and you should be able to continue normally.
I don't know the reason, but quite a few people have experienced this same issue. Take a look at the "more like this" list to the right of this message. It is more common than you might expect.

    System:

    Latest Lenovo Drivers installed
    Problem:
Keyboard and Touchpad on the keyboard dock intermittently stops working altogether. The UltraNav pointing device also reports device code 43. The user is unable to type or move mouse cursor. Sometimes the touchscreen will also not work when this problem occurs. The problem has been reported by 3+ users/systems. Some users also experience "Keyboard Fan Dock error" which may or may not be attributing to this issue.
    When it occurs:
The problem is intermittent; it often occurs after waking the system up from sleep. As a workaround, the user has to restart the system a couple to several times in order for the device to be recognized. User also experiencing this issue without UltraNav installed.
Any advice from Lenovo staff or others experiencing this would be appreciated.

users at my organization are experiencing device issues indicated in this Lenovo solution article; the solution in the article points to the latest drivers being the solution; however, the users are still running into these USB device errors with the latest USB hub/keyboard drivers/fw.

  • Trick for Pairing Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse With Windows 7 in BC 3.1

    My Mac:
    Mid-2007 iMac 20", 2.4 GHz; OS X 10.6.2; Windows 7 Home; Boot Camp 3.1
    My Problem:
No matter what I tried, including all kinds of tips and tricks found in this forum and elsewhere on the web, I could not get my Apple aluminum bluetooth keyboard and bluetooth Mighty Mouse to pair in Windows 7. Windows 7's bluetooth setup panel would see them, from time to time, but never connected.
The same pair connected quite easily with Snow Leopard, and the keyboard connected before I installed BC 3.1 in Win 7 (never did get the MM to connect in Win 7 with BC 3.0). But with BC 3.1 in Win 7, it was no dice for either one until I made an accidental discovery.
While prepping another Apple bluetooth aluminum keyboard for my wife's Mac Mini, it was seen by my iMac's Win 7, which wanted to pair with it.
Aha! A Big Clue! The Win 7 BC 3.1 generic bluetooth drivers wanted to pair with an aluminum keyboard that wasn't already paired with the iMac. So, I booted back into Snow Leopard, connected a USB mouse and keyboard, renamed the bluetooth mouse and keyboard, and then deleted them. I rebooted back into Win 7, then easily set up both renamed mouse and keyboard which paired quickly with Windows.
Note that I first tried deleting them from the Snow Leopard side first, but Win 7 still wouldn't pair with them. That's when I went back to Snow Leopard and renamed them but didn't pair them with the iMac until it was booted into Win 7.
Finally, I rebooted back into Snow Leopard and paired the keyboard and mouse with OS X. Done.
Hope this trick/tip/hint helps someone else with keyboard and mouse bluetooth pairing problems.

You're welcome. My discovery was quite accidental, but that's often how things happen ... if you're paying attention and are looking for clues.
Sorry you had to trial and error before you succeeded, but as you've probably found, it is necessary to rename the bluetooth devices first, then delete them from OS X.
I don't understand why this trick was necessary, or even what caused it to happen. I've got 6 Win 7 installations via Boot Camp on 6 Intel Macs (2 white MacBooks, 1 Unibody MacBook, a Core Duo Mac Mini, a 27" iMac and the 20" 2.4 Mid-2007 iMac). All were running 10.6.2 and Win 7 (aren't Family Packs wonderful?) via Boot Camp 3.0 more or less without problems, except as noted in my first post.
Only the 20" iMac had problems after the Boot Camp 3.1. Not only did I have a devil of a time pairing the keyboard and mouse, but I also lost the Win 7 activation on the iMac 20" and the OS X partition started showing up as "EFI Boot". All happened right after I updated Boot Camp 3.0 to 3.1 via download from Apple while running Win 7.
I've heard reports of other Mac users discovering Boot Camp had done a FUBAR job on their machines, but this is my first experience. My guess is that there's some dialogue going on between 10.6, Win 7 and Boot Camp that shouldn't be happening. What I really don't understand is why my other 5 Macs didn't have any problems at all with the Boot Camp upgrade to 3.1. Let's hope the Apple Boot Camp team can reverse engineer my discovery and improve the next version of BC.

  • 2012 13" MBP keyboard and trackpad inop after OS loads

I have a 2012 13" MBP (non retina) that had water spilled on the counter that pooled around it and some seeped into the bottom (don't ask how). I have taken it apart, cleaned it with alcohol, baked it to ensure it is dry and now almost everything works.
The odd thing is that the keyboard and trackpad will work during system boot to, say, reset PRAM or boot into safe mode or select any other combination; however, when the system boots into the OS (or recovery mode, etc) the keyboard and trackpad stop working all together. I can connect an external mouse and keyboard and it works fine...I installed a fresh HDD with a fresh copy of Yosemite and still have the same symptoms.
I doubt it's a hardware related issue since they both work on startup, but for the life of me I can't locate the issue that prevents them from working. I have turned off BT, reset PRAM and SMC, reset by holding power button in for a long time after shut down, all with the same results.
I also replaced the top case (new keyboard/trackpad) and have the same results....
What's interesting is if I keep pressing caps lock while the system is booting (press once per second) the keyboard and mouse will work after boot, but then stop after a minute...which is some progress I guess. I am going to try and reinstall the OS one more time and see if that makes a difference....I have reached the end of google and am out of ideas....anyone have any thoughts?

Update:  I've justed attempted a boot from a Mavericks install USB stick.  The trackpad and keyboard are still not recognised.
Unless I'm mistaken, I've either a very odd hardware fault, or something has got scrambled with non-volatile memory/firmware.

  • Macbook pro Late 2011 13.3 inch i7 keyboard and trackpad not working bluetooth showing a cross sign and no usb mouse is detected. Almost dead keyboard and mouse. Earlier same problem used to be solved by opening the lower cover and closing it.

My macbook pro 13.3 inch i7 late 2011 edition has previously encountered unresponsive trackpad and keyboard. To solve that, I used to open the back cover and then close it. It has been working fine since that. Yesterday, same thing happened, this time I noticed that bluetooth icon is showing a cross sign across it and keyboard and trackpad were unesponsive. After some time , everything worked fine and bluetooth sign was back to normal. Then , suddenly it went back to the problem. I shut it down by holding the power button. When I booted it again, I could not login because keyboard and trackpad were not working. I attached a HP mouse it didnt work. I opened the back cover disconnected the battery and then connected it again, didnt worked. Since then , I have tried many things and nothing has solved the problem.

    @sanjampet
As you suggested I reset the smc, in the first boot nothing worked. In the second boot, it all worked like a charm. I thought that my problem is resolved now. To test it, I shut it down properly. Next morning, I powered it on, all things i.e, keyboard, trackpad, bluetooth etc. worked and I thought that problem has been solved. When I was just going to visit apple forum to reply you,  the same problem reappeared. A sawtooth cross over bluetooth icon, keyboard not working, trackpad not working,no usb mouse working which worked well when it was fine. I reset smc so many times again and again but same problem continued. Isn't it a problem of the firmware?
Next time when it will work, I will update its firmware.
My macbook was bought in dec2011 so no warranty now.
