Is it safe to install Windows 8 consumer preview? As because during the operation it notifies that some softwares might not work in the future. And can i again restore it to windows 7 if it encounters problem?

You can install Win 8 CP as a dual booting system on a single disk drive, provided your disk drive has adequate free space available. Take a look at the following post in the Win 8 CP forum:

Windows Installation Disk

Hello, I am using a notebook by the name of HP Pavilion dv6000. Everything was running alright then suddenly I had a problem. When I tried to open my PC I couldn't it asked me for the Windows Installation Disk. I'm pretty sure that HP didn't give me one unless they meant the Recovery Disk, that I have. Please try to help me out here. Your help is gratefully appreciated.

You are welcome. Normally Windows OS can be downloaded only from a source provided by Microsoft due to Software Licensing policies. Since the Recovery media for your PC is Licensed for HP it will be available only from HP as a Recovery media package. Lost OEM information (manufacturer, brand, model, logo) after a clean windows installation

Hi,
It's been about a month since I remplaced my HDD, because the original one which has the recovery partition was currupted...
So, I had to do a clean windows 8.1 x64 installation, after that I noticed that the OEM information (manufacturer, brand, model, logo) was lost, and I really want to get it back.
Please help if there's any way to get it back to original.

Retrieving CD key for HP windows installation

Hello,
I have recently formatted my hard drive and re installed windows from a bootable USB, I've now found that Windows is asking for the CD key but this has faded on the laptop due to the heat from underneath over the last few years.
What other options do I have to get my CD key?

The only way to avoid having to purchase a new Win 7 key is to install using HP Recovery Media which does not require a key. If you did not make your Recovery set before formatting the hdd call HP Support to see if they are still available.

X121e Windows Installation DVD

My x121e is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. I want to reinstall the OS once it arrives, does it come with a Windows 7 DVD or installation media to be able to do this?

All recent Lenovo ThinkPads that I have seen some with a utility to create the installation media. You should be able to do this with an external USB DVD±RW disc drive and some recordable DVDs.

Computer keeps asking for windows inst. disc because of missing file.
Goes to Caldera DOS/A:
Don't have any discs.
Have an old Windows XP and 2000.

Hi:
Turn your PC on.
Keep tapping the F9 key as soon as you see the HP welcome screen to access the one time boot menu.
Just leave it at that menu for a moment.
Insert recovery disk 1 into the DVD drive.
Now at that boot menu, select the DVD rom drive, and hit the enter key.
Carefully watch the screen..it should give a message...attempting to boot from DVD..press any key to boot from DVD.
Press any key, and follow the on screen instructions.

Windows Installation Burning to dvd-r location problem

just over 5 weeks old. Trying to make a installation disk but can't find it any place on the laptop to make it. Bought from Best-Buy. Hard drive is making very loud noise and starting to have hard drive problems and plan to get a new drive this week but like to burn Windows Installation first. I don't feel like buying Windows Installation at best buy when i should be able to burn a copy from my new laptop.

W530 Can not see SSD (Bios or Windows Installation)

Hi all,
I have been workign on this for a bit now and can't see mto get it figured out. I referenced past threads on this forum for help, but so far no luck.
Basically I am tryign to install a new Samsung SSD into a W530, however, I can not get the Bios or Windows instalation to see it (when you select what driev you want to install windows on).
I can externally attach the SSD to my other laptop and see the drive. I can create partitions, format them, etc. But none of that helped my original issue.
I have also updated to the latest BIOS version, tried turning off UEFI, no luck.
Any ideas on what I am missign here to get this SSD to show up?

Are you replacing the spinner in your W530 with the SSD? Main drive bay?
The side rails from the old spinner must be removed from the old drive and attached to the sides of the SSD, before putting it into the bay. However as is shown in the user manual, they actually must be attached "upside down" (or maybe inside out as well?? I forget now) for the SSD from the orientation that they had with the spinner. I assume this is because of a slight height difference in the two drives as far as where the rear electrical connector on the drive mates with the correnspinding connector inside the bay.
The reversal of the side rails will raise (or lower?) the SSD drive, so that its electrical connector meets the drive bay electrical connector properly. Now when you push in the SSD drive all the way, you're really making true electrical contact and presumably the SSD will now be seen.
With the side rails attached incorrectly, when you push the SSD all the way in, the drive electrical connector is completely missing the drive bay connector, and there is zero electrical contact. It's just sitting in the drive bay physcially.
I made this same mistake myself when installing my Samsung 840 Pro SSD to replace the factory 500GB spinner in my own W530. Played with this for an hour, before finally interpreting the picture from the user manual as an indication there were two different orientations of the side rails that were actually different, for spinner vs. SSD, and exactly what that meant in terms of attaching the rails to the drive before inserting it into the main bay.

I can copy the mail that i got here but its in Dutch so i don't know i've you can read that. For the people that can read this i will copy the mail below here. For all the other people i suggest you call to the helpdesk and explain the problem then maybe they can help you too.
Hieronder zal ik de beschrijving geven hoe je de drivers en software van de geluidskaart grondig kunt verwijderen, en opnieuw installeren. De meeste geluidskaart problemen zijn hiermee te verhelpen.
. verwijder de geluidskaart uit de PC.
2. indien u ook een ingebouwde geluidskaart op uw computer heeft, zorg dan dat deze is uitgeschakeld in de BIOS. Voor meer informatie hierover, raad ik u aan de moederbord / PC leverancier te raadplegen.
3. In het Configuratiescherm, onder Software, verwijder alle Creative programma's.
4. Steek de installatie cd in de cd rom speler, (klik het automatisch openende schermpje weg) en ga naar Deze Computer. Hier klikt u met de rechtermuis op de cd-rom dri've, en kiest u voor Verkennen. Dubbelklik nu op de map Audio, dubbelklik dan op de map Driver, en vervolgens op het bestandje CTZAP.exe (of SETUP.exe, van de 2 bestanden is aanwezig) 5. in het menu kiest u voor uninstall WDM driver en dan sluit u de PC af.
6. Plaats de kaart opnieuw in de PC. Het is beste om een PCI slot zo ver mogelijk van de grafische kaart te gebruiken.
7. na de reboot gaat u weer de installatie cd af en installeer de cd (negeer de windows installatie boodschap, deze kunt u gewoon afsluiten.
U moet de installatie via de Creative CD uitvoeren.)

Hoe laat ik een gmailaccount in icloud overlopen?

ik ben op zoek naar eenn mogelijkheid om mijn gmail in mijn icloud account te laten overlopen, zodat ik 1 account hoef te beheren. Natuurlijk kan ik gmail stoppen, maar dat geeft teveel rompslomp met de bekendheid van mijn account. Heeft iemand een idee hoe dit op te lossen?

Photoshop cc installeren na nieuwe installatie windows 7

Ik moet mijn harde schijf vervangen voor mijn computer met windows 7, 64 bits versie.
Ik moet daarna dus windows 7 opnieuw installeren op mijn nieuwe harde schijf.
Hoe zet ik mijn photoshop cc lidmaatschap van € 12,29 per maand over op de nieuwe installatie van windows 7.

G510 audio driver installation problem on Windows 8.1

I've just received my brand new Lenovo G510 and installed Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit onto it.
Most of the drivers from the attached CD installed without any problems (though I was quite surprised that no newer versions were available on the Support wrbpage) but I can't install audio driver.
Apparently this series is equipped in either Conexant or Realtek audio chips and the provided setup application is desigend to detect the correct chip and run the appropriate driver installation program.
The problem is that setup is not working for me. All I receive is the notification "This utility can not be used on this machine". Since there are no "orphan" audio devices in the Device Manager, I can't really tell which audio chipset is installed in my machine. I don't want to install both dirvers as it may just cause confilcts.
How can I say which audio chipset is installed and install the correct driver?

Under Device manager
You should look for your Audio
Normally it stays under Sound and gaming controller,
And if no driver is installed in shows as High Definition Audio
Right click on it and select Properties
Go to the Details TAB
change the Value to Hardware ID then check the details
ex. PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&SUBSYS_051014E4&REV_01
Get the 4 digit after VEN and DEV
Ven is the Vendor and Devi is the Device
Go to PCI database and do a search for the VEN
Then search for the DEV and youll know that device

Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra stops working with XP following Windows Media Player 11 Beta Installat

Yesterday I was very pleased to find that my Creative Zen Xtra (model DAP-HD00) portable media player is a PlaysForSure capable device. Creative Labs, on November 9, 2005, released the Creative Zen Xtra PlaysForSure Firmware v2.0.03. I installed this firmware (I had to install the Creative ZenJukebox Driver v.30.03 first to get Windows to recognize the device). Once the firmware was upgraded, Windows began recognizing the Zen Xtra as a MTP device and life was good. I was able to synchronize it with both Napster To Go and Windows Media Player 0.
After this, I went ahead and installed Windows Media Player Beta, which I just downloaded yesterday as well.
From a functional standpoint, WMP seems to run just fine. However, when I connected the Creative Zen Xtra (with its PlaysForSure firmware), Windows redetected the hardware. It first showed "Creative Jukebox Zen Xtra" in the tooltip, followed by "MTP Device" in the new hardware tooltip. Finally, Windows announced that there was a problem installing my new hardware and that it may not work properly.
Sure enough, when I went into Device Manager, my Zen Xtra was showing as an MTP Device with an exclamation point on it. More specifically, it specified the status of, "This device cannot start (Code 0)."
Prior to the installation of Windows Media Player, the Creative Zen Xtra showed in device manager with the following characteristics under the heading "Windows Portable Devices":
Name: NOMAD Jukebox Zen XtraDriver Version: 5.2.0.0 dated 8/30/2004Digitally Signed by Microsoft Windows Component Publisher
Driver File Details:C:\Windows\system32\wpdusb.sys - v5.2.3802.3802 built by dnsrv(bld4act)

The file wudfrd.sys is NOT digitally signed in this case.
As of now, my Zen Xtra is completely unusable on this system, and I need to sync it with my laptop for the time being, which still has WMP 0 installed on it.
Is this a bug with WMP beta? Is it a problem with my firmware? Since this is PlaysForSure compliant firmware, and it worked flawlessly with Napster and WMP 0 (before the MTP driver was updated), it would seem to be a WMP beta issue. I'd like to hear more official confirmation on the subject, however.
Some general details about my system are:

Ok, this worked out accidentally - but happily
I first installed the driver - not the media source - but the driver for the device.
After that the windows device manager yellow sign disappeared - apparently the device driver was registered by windows.
Then I Installed Mediasource 5 - the installation went thru fine.
Does anyone have any recommended updates to install, please also advise what benefits.

LaserJet M1132 installation on Windows 7 hangs on "Preinstalling drivers..."

I cannot install a Laserjet M1132 on my 64-bit Lenovo X240 running Windows 7. I am trying to use the USB installer, which appears as a CD drive on my computer. Because I have turned AutoPlay off, I run the executable installer. The installation proceeds normally until it reaches "Preinstalling drivers," where it hangs forever. I can only stop the installer by killing the process with Task Manager.
I tried several times, including rebooting the printer and my laptop and using different USB ports. I also tried running the installer in compatibility model.
The only unusual configuration of my laptop is that I have a whitelist for outbound connections on my firewall, but I thought this was an offline installer. I have been able to successfully install and use this printer on other computers running Windows 7 and Windows 8.
EDIT: I am on a metered connection, so I have a strong preference for approaches that don't require large downloads.

I see that you are unable to install the printer on one of the computers. I can help you.
When did the install hang? (before or after connecting the USB cable, was the printer recognized when connected)
Disconnect the USB cable.
Run the uninstall from the CD.
I would disable all the start up programs and temporarily turn off the Antivirus Software to see if there is a program interfering in the back ground. How to use MSCONFIG . Click on the start up tab and click disable all.
Download and install the latest drivers, if you still have bandwidth left. If not run the CD again. (check it to make sure there are Windows 7 drivers on it) HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver.
Then you will have to go back and enable the startup programs and turn the Antivirus Software back on again.
Please provide the results if you are still having issues.
