Windows 8 installation - Upgrade Assistant compatibility Issue - Bluetooth Win7 Suite

Having procured an on-line download of Windows 8, from the Microsoft web site, I am a little concerned about an incompatibility identified by the Microsoft
 Upgrade Assistant; namely:-
 "Bluetooth Win7 Suite (64) - Atheros Communications"
This incompatibility was identified after restoration of an original copy of the Windows 7 operating system, as installed by the manufacturer of my PC! (Recovered from an Acronis image).
That is, the operating system, prior to installation of any personal software, or external hardware, or divers!
Hence, I can only assume, that "Bluetooth Win7 Suite (64)" is a sub component of one of the original components of the computer:
ASUS P8Z68-V LE Motherboard
NVIDIA Quadro 600 1024MB Professional Video Card
Intel  i7 2600K Processor (3.4 GHz - no over-clocking)
16GB Corsair PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3 Memory (4x4 GB sticks)
Qty 2 Sony 24x DVD-RW drives
Qty 2 120GB Corsair Force 3 SSD (No Raid)
Qty 1 1000GB 7200 HDD
Onboard High Definition Audio
My plan was to perform a clean installation of Windows 8, but I have no understanding what the implications of this incompatibility will be!
Namely, what the function of  Bluetooth Win7 Suite (64), is! And what hardware it is associated with!
Whether a clean installation will work, without  Bluetooth Win7 Suite (64)
Whether Windows 8 install will have onboard drivers, for all of the above hardware!
After installation of Windows 8, and installation of the manufactures latest drivers, for the Motherboard and Video Card, will I have to search elsewhere
for a driver for the Bluetooth Win7 Suite (64)
I would appreciate any advice on this matter!
Brian

Hi,
Based on my research, it seems that Bluetooth Win7 Suite (64) is a program developed by Atheros Communications.
So, do you have any Bluetooth device? Did you install it?
Please also check if it lists in Programs and Features.
However, if you do not have any Bluetooth device or you do not use this program, in my opinion, it will not affect the installation of Windows 8.
Hope this helps.

  • Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant failed on Satellite P775

I tried running the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant on my Satellite P775.
    It started by displaying
Checking Components; download Windows 8 Components data.
    Reading Components.
Got component TOSHIBA Wireless LAN Indicator
    ... etc ...
Got Component TOSHIBA Contrasena de supervisor
    Reading Windows Components.
    then displayed a Message Box
"Failed to read Target (Windows 8) INI file."
    How can I solve this?
    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply.
    Yes I followed that procedure.
My model is Satellite P775-112 PSBY3E and is listed as being compatible
After installing Windows 8, I noticed that the DVD drive was no longer accessible, as described in the following thread: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=68222&tstart=0
So I disabled the Windows Service "Toshiba Optical Disc Drive Service" (TODDSrv.exe 1.0.0.8), and the DVD drive is now visible. However Toshiba Video Player still does not work (says it has compatibility issues) and I can not view DVD videos.
I then ran the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant, which failed immediately with the error "Failed to read Target (Windows 8) INI file".
I found some posts on the forum with a similar error with the Windows 7 Upgrade Assistant (Failed to read Target (Windows 7) INI file. None of the posts has a clear description of what this error means but I've tried all of the suggestions.
    Here's a list of what I've tried:
    - Rebooted
    - Upgraded BIOS to latest version (2.10)
    - Run Upgrade Assistant as Administrator
    - Run Upgrade Assistant with "Toshiba Optical DIsc Drive Service TODDSrv.exe 1.0.0.8 started or stopped.
My main problems at the moment are:
    - Toshiba Optical DIsc Drive Service causes DVD drive to disappear
    - Toshiba Video Player won't run
    - No way to view DVDs
I'd be happy to install the drivers and applications individually if the Upgrade Assistant doesn't work - is there anywhere I can download them?

  • Windows 10 Upgrade Wifi Adapter Issues

HI There I have upgraded My envy laptop on 29th july15 to windows 10, upgrade went smoothly but unable to connect to wifi or through ethernet saying no wifi adapters.tried to install the drivers but no success i tried every possible solution got frustrated and reverted back to windows 8.1 and now wifi adpater works fine.can some one help me with this issues and find a solution if i can upgrade to windows 10 Thank you

I've got the same thing.  Lucky I have wired ethernet.  I've done a couple of driver re-installs, removed the HP connection assitant,  installed the new HP solution app,  tried the "wifi button fix" for Win 8.   nothing works. I guess I will do as others and let it sit for a few days.   I don't think this is a problem with the Intel Centrino drivers.  The darned WiFi is just turned off. Interestingly I got to a place via the "airplane mode" setting where I could toggle between airplane mode and not working via the Fn-F12 button.   No help natch since both are "no wifi".

  • Windows 7 upgrade assistant does not work

Well I'm number 28 on the so called helpdesk phone number so I thought I'd try this to see if its any faster!
I'm trying to install Windows 7 with the Toshiba supplied disk to upgrade from Vista.
I have tried 10 times or more but when I use the "Upgrade Assistant" it stops running at the same point everytime and boots me out of the install process.
Step 2 is the problem "Downloading Toshiba Preload Component list" it gets this far then *BANG* it kicks me out of the install.
I have followed all instructions disabling firewall and virus software etc.
On 2 occasions I've had a different problem " Read Failed TUWSETUP program"

    Hi
When do the upgrade assistant stops exactly and what error message you get displayed?
Can you also tell us what notebook model you have? Does it support this upgrade?
In my opinion you should also try a new and clean installation of Windows 7 if its possible for you.

  • Windows 7 and Director - compatibility issues?

I have the old Macromedia Director 7 and Lingo which worked great on XP and Vista - unfortunately it won't work at all on my Windows 7 Home Premium!  I also have Adobe PageMaker 6.5 which also does not like Windows 7 (but as it worked well on the previous Windows versions I was loathe to purchase an upgrade).
I have tried to download the trial versions of the newer Director but nothing happens after you press the 'download' button - frustrating!  I have removed the pop up bocker - I have even turned off my anti-virus software incase that was the issue - nothing works!
Is there ANYTHING happening in the future which will allow these products or their newer versions to run effectively on Windows 7??  This is 2012 for goodness sake - surely an update/upgrade would have been on the drawing board to keep pace with Microsoft?
If someone can assist me I would gratefully appreciate it!
    Sahra K

I was just wondering, did you ever get any answers to this. I'm having the same problems with both Director 8.5 and DirectorMX 2004

  • Windows 7 upgrade (sound card issue)

My laptop's sound card makes a loud noise when I upgraded from Vista to 7. I installed the new sound card driver, it worked for a day and made that noise again. I installed it again and now I have to wait and see. Does anyone have any idea to why it's making a noise? My laptop model is Qosmio F55-502. I would appreciate any suggestions and advices.

    | Creative's applications in Daniel's packs tend to integrate better than standard ones or "the Vista install CD", but you can use any driver you want AFTER the installation. That is what I used to do with my X-FI. I installed Daniel's and then upgraded the driver, and any other application that had been updated since his pack's creation.

  • Windows 7, IE 8 compatability issue

Sometimes when I click on a document on the web that is a pdf and open it in Adobe Reader 9 I get a dialogue box that comes up. I am unable to read it. It is blank. I have a new PC and I did a system recovery got all of the updates and the same thing still happens. There is one button I'm assuming it is "OK" and click that. I then reload the document and it works. This can be from any website I visit. The issue is while using IE.
I found another person with the same problem but with Firefox:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itproappcompat/thread/2b1c433a-e408-4ca9-a ce6-a669135c954a

I have just done some more testing and have found Reader to be related to the error message I get when trying to print to the XPS Printer. In order to succesfully print to the XPS printer I have to uninstall Reader 9.3.1. I did some testing in between before doing this. But the issue seems to be related. If anyone has any ideas it would be very helpful because I use both the XPS Printer and Reader a lot.

  • Windows 10 Upgrade Checked PC Shows Issues With Drivers

I have a Toshiba Satellite C655D, running Windows 7 Home Premiumwith the Service Pack 1 (SP1), 64 bit operating system. When I open up the Windows 10 Upgrade Reservation window, I clicked on the button on the upper left hand corner which open up a side panel on the left hand side. I go down and click on "Check your PC." It then gives me the message "This PC can be upgraded but there may be some issues." Because of those issues the following devices might not work properly, Those devices are, "Terminal Service Keyboard Driver" and "Terminal Server Mouse Driver."
I posted this same message over at the Microsoft forums and someone told me to check with Toshiba to see if there are any drivers or patches that need to be updated. I've checked here at Toshiba and thus far there are no updated drivers or patches I need to download. In fact here at the Toshiba forums they have set up a thread with links that lead to Microsoft for anyone who has questions about Windows 10. It appears no one from either side knows what any of this means or how to resolve it.
Does this mean I won't be able to download this free upgrade to Windows 10? Or can I still download the free upgrade to Windows 10 but have to download separate drivers? If I have to download separate drivers where do I download the proper ones that are compatible for my computer and Windows 10?
So my original questions still stands. All help will be appreciated!

Someone will say "Post your full model number and part number from the sticker on the bottom" and I apparently got here first, so I might as well post that.    That way, people know the full specs of your machine. I didn't get that hardware check when I clicked the white window icon.   I just got a screen to input my email address.(eta:   I went back and found that, clicked it.   It found no hardware issues.   It said the Toshiba DVD player might not work.  Try running the Win8 upgrade assistant and see what it says, because it might provide more detail.) There is a Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant, and apparently they say use that to check your hardware for Win 10.  I ran it on my L505-ES5034 an early i3 Windows 7 machine.   It didn't find any issues.    I ran it on my U505-S2012 or whatever it is, Windows 7 machine with a touch screen, and it told me that the touch screen may possibly not be compatible with Windows 8.    There are different requirements for Win8 touch screen vs. Win7, though.  But I didn't get any warmings about terminal services, which I associate with remote access. Jerry Lippey and I are running the Win 10 evaluation builds on older Core2 Duo machines.   Mine is a 2009 or 2010 model.  I really haven't seen any hardware issues.  I've had numerous problems with Cortana and start menu and desktop stop working and refuse to restart, though.

  • Stuck in a "loop" at the login window after upgrading to Leopard

I bought a new iMac Oct 26. It contained Tiger, and included a disk for installing Leopard. I easily got the machine up and running using Tiger, but last night I attempted to install Leopard. When the installation was complete, I tried to get it running. A screen asking for my password came up. I keyed that in and hit logon. Back came the screen asking for the password. To make long story short, I tried everything I could last night, and then called Apple Support this morning. Took quite a while, but I was back in business this afternoon. The technician who helped me sent me the email copied below describing the solution. Perhaps it will help someone else? Romelle
    Hello from Apple!
Charles at Apple Service & Support thought that you might find this article useful. We hope that it helps resolve your technical issue.
    Link: http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n306965
Mac OS X 10.5, iMac (Late 2007): Stuck in a "loop" at the login window after upgrading to Leopard
    Issue or symptom
After installing Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard on a 20-inch or 24-inch iMac (Late 2007) computer, you may not be able to log in at the login window. Your login name and password are apparently accepted, but after a blue screen appears for a few seconds, the login window reappears instead of your desktop.
    Products affected
    20-inch or 24-inch iMac (Late 2007) computer with 2.0, 2.4, or 2.8 GHz processors
    Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
    Solution
    If Leopard is installed
Start up from the Leopard Install DVD and perform an Archive and Install installation (and select Preserve Users and Network Settings).
After the Archive and Install is complete, you should be able to successfully log in. Use Software Update to install any other updates.
Important: Install the iMac Software Update 1.3 for Leopard after the Archive and Install is complete.
If Leopard is not yet installed
If you have not yet installed Leopard on your 20-inch or 24-inch aluminum iMac computer with a 2.0, 2.4, or 2.8 GHz processor running Mac OS X 10.4.x, but previously installed the iMac Software Update 1.2, you should install the iMac Software Update 1.2.1 (Tiger) or later, before installing Leopard.
    Thank you,
    Apple

If Leopard came pre-installed and this is a new machne, then the disks that came in the box should let you archive install preserving users & network settings. The disks have a grey label, and if you get more than one use disk #1 for this procedure.
Hold down the "option" (also known as "alt" on the new keyboards) key when starting up with disk #1 in the optical drive. Select the install disk icon on the grey screen and click the arrow. Then when you get to the "select destination pane, click the options button after selecting your hard drive as the destination. In options A& I preserving should be checked by default, if not, select them. Click "ok" to dismiss the options pane, then run the installation.
If this does not work for you, call apple support. They want everything to work. Be patient, they are real busy these days.

  • G70-250US Notebook - sleep issues in Win7?

I just bought the G70-250US... my first notebook ever after 15 years of computing.  The very first thing I did (after creating recovery discs of course) was format the drive and put Win7 RC1 (x64) on it.  It runs great now and I have no HP bloatware.  I got all the latest drivers from HP and Intel.
99% of the time the sleep and wakeup work fine.  However, I have noticed if I close the lid and let it sleep for a long time (8+ hours, while I myself and ALSO sleeping), that when I open the lid to wake it in the morning, it will appear to wake up, but the display will remain blank, and I will need to force it asleep a 2nd time (through power button or lid) and then wake it a second time, and then it will function fine, display and all.
Is this a known issue, or is it perhaps just a compatibility issue with Win7?  Does it happen in Vista?  I can't really check since I wiped Vista off so fast. :-)
    Thanks!

One more thing I noticed... when waking up after a long sleep, it briefly displays the HP logo and then the Windows resume screen... and THEN the screen goes black and will not come back unless I sleep it a second time.  So it almost seems to be a display driver issue, maybe?
EDIT: Incidentally, Windows update just found a display driver update released yesterday.  We'll see if that fixes it...

  • Windows 8 Upgrade on Netbook

    Good day!
I would like to ask how can I upgrade and use Windows 8 properly in my device if my screen resolution is limited upto 1024x600 only. I bought my device last November 2012 and don't want to buy a new device just to experience and use Windows 8 OS.
My Device Name: HP Mini 110-3500
    Serial Number:[Personal Information Removed]
Operating System: Windows 7 Starter, 32-bit, and 1GB RAM
Thank you and looking forward for your responses.

Download and run Microsoft's Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant. It is located on this web document.
Have you checked on your netbook's web support portal to see if there are drivers for Windows 8?
I just checked and that answer is a no.
The Upgrade Assitant should help you decide make a informed dicision on what you want to do in relation to your mini and Windows 8.
    Best regards,
