Error showing " No bootable device-- insert boot disk and press any key " . and when i am inserting bootable usb drive then again error " disk error press any key to restart". I tried one more option that i put recovery file in bootable use so after that some option are comming to refresh and restore windows 8 but . I can't get my window back error is bit locker key. but i never put any security key on windows drive( C: ) , but they are asking bit locker key...

I see that while trying to install Linux, you've lost the Windows 8 OS that was on your notebook.

When I restarted my computer and held down the option key both icons came up for bootcamp but the PC side was missing the arrow. Then the arrow appeared and I clicked on it and the screen went black. ShivIs this a clean install or an upgrade? 20 GB, though greater than the minimum, is pretty minimal. How much memory do you have on the system? 2008 would try to create a page file of 1.5x physical memory, so if you are building on a large
memory system, you could be having an issue there.

Resized partition using Disk Utility and now Windows 7 will not boot

Hopefully someone can help me!!
I had previously used Boot Camp to install Windows 7. However, I later realised I had not given myself anywhere near enough disk space as I started using Windows for things I hadn't originally planned on using it for.
Anyway, long story short, to solve the problem I uninstalled some applications on my Mac OSX and used Disk Utility to decrease the size of my Mac partition. My plan was then to reboot to Windows and use a Windows application to increase the size of the Windows partition. However - I coudln't even get that far.
Upon decreasing the size of my Mac partition (succesfully) I restarted my Mac in order to boot to Windows. However, I was greeted with a message along the lines of "unable to boot to Windows please insert boot disk and press any key" (I can't remember the exact message).
I was wondering if anyone knows of any way to restore my Windows partition, retaining all of my previously saved files on my Windows disk. It's probably a long shot, but the thought of losing everything I have been working on for the last few months is a sickening one.
What does give me a bit of hope is that, if I click Boot Camp it seems to recognise that Windows 7 is installed as the option that appears is to uninstall it.
Furthermore, if I view partitions in Disk Utility, a "DISK0S4" is listed. However, it's only at 20gb - if this WAS my BootCamp partition previously, it was originally at something around 60gb (I think - either way, definitely bigger than 20gb!).
On top of this, my current Macintosh HD parition is at 260gb and with the DISK0S4 partition at 20.21gb, there seems to be some space missing... I'm hoping this is the files I've been working on over the last few months!
Anyway, I've done some searching on the net and it *seems* that GPT fdisk *might* be my savour. I've downloaded it but have no idea how to use it and don't plan on playing about with it as I could no doubt do some real damage. If it is likely to solve my problem however, I'm certainly more than capable of being walked through what I need to do.

I also have problems with Windows rebooting after partition resize trying to reduce Mac side and increase Windows side. I do not see the BootCamp partition labelled as such while running disk utility. The Windows partition shows up when I boot up while pressing the ALT key. However, when I try to run Windows, it says " error loading operatig system".
I also followed instruction and went through to run gdisk successfully. Results towards the end.
What can be done? Windows still does not boot and It shows ? Suspicious MBR at sector 0.

I bought a mac companion for my desktop mac running os x but received the following error message when I tried to install the quikprotect software download: "power pc no longer supported." I did not read that anywhere when investigating. What gives?
PPC, also known as PowerPC has not existed on Macs since the beginning of 2006. Apple made a bridge software and included it with Mac OSes until 10.6.8 known as Rosetta that would allow you to run software written for the PowerPC Macs. 10.7 and later can't run that bridge software. You have one of several options:
Install 10.6 retail on a USB Flash drive, and run that application while booted from there.
Find an update designed for 10.7 or later of the software.
Find a combination of Virtualbox or Paralllels that can legally run a version of 10.6 side by side with your 10.7 software.
Run Windows on your Mac with Virtualbox or use CrossOver that requires no Windows to run a Windows version of your application.
Your Mac is an iMac Intel. I will ask a moderator redirect your thread to the 10.7 forum, and no action is needed on your part. -

I got a Model Number: A1181, My hard drive burned out. I bouhgt a new hard drive Wd Blue Scorpio 500 GB. When i tried to install the MAC OS, it identifies a hard drive with 3.6 TB and i'm not able to do the installation. I touhgt the new ard drive was bad but i was able to install windows XP. Any ideas what do i have to do?
Well, let's hope that nothing was jiggled out of place when you were installing the new hard drive. Your optical drive may just be out of alignment or the disc you have is "dirty." Get a lint-free cloth and some rubbing alcohol, then clean the disc as thoroughly as you can starting from the center and working outward in a concentric circlular motion. See if that helps. In particular clean the inner portion well.
If this does not help, then you have a problem. You have opened the computer yourself. That action voids all support from Apple. If you take the computer in for service the store may refuse to service the computer. This is not related to your now expired warranty. -

The icloudsetup.exe failed when I tried to install it on windows 7
I am trying to install the iCloud so I can use Find My IPad on my PC. The icloudsetup.exe failed when I tried to install it on my Dell Windows 7 PC. Error message is "a program required for this install to complete could not be run". It says I need Windows 7, IE 9, and Outlook or some other mail program for the install. I do not have Outlook installed but use WindowsLiveMail for my email program. Does anyone know if this is my problem?

It will not boot from disk, let me refresh, or let me reset my windows system.
A couple of times i have gotten windows to boot from the disk and it asks if i want to instal windows 8 or there is a tab to repair my computer.
Should i just go ahead and click instal windows 8, and then backup that fresh instal with my backup drive?

The only way I know of fixing this right now is unfortunately by doing a clean install. Thats not to say however that you won't run into the same problem down the road. To be honest, even tho Templeton's answer was useless, he's right. Seven is currently way more stable. -

The Windows Emulators require a physical machine that runs Windows 8.1 (x64) Professional edition or higher, and a processor that supports Client Hyper-V and Second Level Address Translation (SLAT). The emulators will not run when Visual Studio is installed
