Windows 8 itunes won't let me add anything to iphone

windows 8 itunes won't let me add anything to iphone..apple community doesn't list the iphone as a product registered under my apple id, but the phone is listed on my authorized devices.  any ideas? and do i need to get it to show as a registered product?

I have the same problem. I can't sync any apps or music on my iphone. I can't sync any music purchased through itunes on my ipod. I haven't even tried connecting my ipad for fear that it'll mess that up as well. I try to authorize my macbook but I get an error. The weird thing is that I am able to still play all of my purchased music through itunes so it seems that the authorization is at least somehow partially recognized.

  • My iTunes won't let me add or remove my music or playlists from my iPhone?

I recently got an iPhone and have downloaded my music from one computer and stuff, but now I have a laptop I can use for my iTunes. I've authorized my apple ID with the computer, but it's still not letting me add or remove things to/from my iPhone. I've looked everywhere and tried everything for a solution but I just can't figure it out. I don't want to lose all the music and stuff that's already on my phone because it would be even more of a hassle to have to re-add all of that. I've tried using the original computer it was synced with instead but i don't have anything i want to transfer on that particular computer. Even so, the music and stuff will say it's transferring but never really does. Can anyone help me? It's rather annoying that no one on the internet seems to have any kind of helpful solution.

    Hi skipper8290,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  It sounds like you're syncing with a new computer and would benefit from moving your content from the previous computer to your current one.  This article has information on how to accomplish that:
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Keep in mind since this is a new computer for the device, it will need to do a complete sync the first time, removing previously synced content.

  • Out of no where, itunes won't let me add music to my ipod touch.

I have itunes 10.4.1 and ipod is 4.2.1. Please help, this is so frustrating! It won't let me drag and drop and it won't work by right clicking either.

I had a similar problem recently after an update. Midway through the update, I got a user error that said I had to wipe the device and restore to factory settings. After I did that, I restored from a recent back up. When I did that it would not allow me to add recently purchased music to playlists on the device. I could not figure out how to fix this anywhere. Finally, in iTunes  I clicked on my iTouch on the list on the right. Then in the big box on the left I clicked on summary. Then I scrolled to the bottom where "Options" was displayed. I clicked on "Manually manage music and videos" and then "apply". Suddenly, I could add music to my established playlists on my device! Hooray! Perhaps this happened to you and that box is unchecked? Good luck.

  • I have forgetten my security q answers and itunes won't let me download anything! HELP!

Hi, this is the first time I've tried to download something off iTunes, my account defiantly has money on it and all is okay. Then, I go to type my password and the security questions pop up, I've forgotten both my answers and am now stuck! Does anyone know what I should do? I've tried the link but it won't let me change the questions as I need to know the answers.

When you log into your account via
    www.appleid.apple.com
and click on Password & Security there should be a link in blue saying
"Forgot your answers? Send reset security info email to...."
    Have you tried this?

  • My recently new computer and iTunes won't let me add music to my iPhone. What do I do?

I recently got a new computer. I downloaded iTunes and went to add new music to my iPhone4, but it wouldn't let me add it. When i tried to press "Manually manage music and videos" it told me that since i already synced my iphone to the old computer, i had to erase everything from my iPhone to be able to. I don't want to erase my phone. I'm pretty sure there is another way since people get a new computer everyday, but I don't know how. Help?

Yes... that's the way it works.
You can only sync an iDevice with one computer.
Move or copy all the iTunes content from the old computer (or backup of the old computer) to the new computer.
Then sync the iDevice with the new computer.  It will still wipe the device, but at this point it will not matter because all the content will be on the new computer to sync to the device.

What is the file suffix of the video files you are trying to add to iTunes? What application did you use to create them?

  • ITunes won't let me move ringtone to iPhone

    Hi all,
My Mom has recently upgraded her iMac.  Since then, she has wanted to put a new ringtone on her iPhone.  I've tried to walk her through the steps (creating the .m4r, etc.) and she wasn't able to do it.  So, since I happen to be over for the holidays, I thought I would give it a go.  And now, I have found out why she's got problems... but I don't know the solution.
I've checked on the "Tones" tab on the iPhone listed on the left side of iTunes and I noticed that the "Synch Tones" was not checked.  So, I checked it.  And now, this is the message I'm getting:
"The iPhone “XX XX’s iPhone” is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?
An iPhone can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iTunes library."  (Cancel) or (Erase and Synch) are the two options.
Now, there is no music on the iPhone (it's all saved on the iTouch and Nano) but there are about 300 photos.  If I choose (Erase and Synch) will I lose anything from the iPhone or from iTunes?  My guess is no... and that it won't touch the photos on the iPhone.  My guess is that it won't erase anything (as there is no music to erase on the iPhone), but that it will transfer the entire iTunes Library onto the iPhone (which I don't want to do either, but I can remove that, I assume).
Can someone varify for me that clicking on the (Erase and Synch) will NOT delete the iPhone photos?  I know they're backed up somewhere, but I'm just trying to figure this out for her before I leave.
Thanks very much and Happy 2013!

A reply to an old problem, but I couldn't find this solution anywhere. I had the same problem when I moved my iTunes library to an external drive. As Apple recommends, I used File > Library > Organize Library > Consolidate Files to copy my music files from my overstuffed hard drive to the external drive. Copying went fine for a while, adding about two-thirds of my files to the new drive without incident. Then I got the big stop sign with the error message: "Copying files failed. The disk could not be read from or written to."
This turned out to have nothing to do with either the hard drive or the external disk. I had a bad file in my music library that was shutting down the consolidation process. Unfortunately the error message says nothing about which file may be the culprit. All I could think to do was to go back to my original library in iTunes and sort by Artist, select all cuts with artists beginning with A, right click and select "Consolidate Files". Then do the same with B artists, etc. Proceeding this way, files resumed copying but when I got to the "S" selections, the consolidate process failed again. Then I selected smaller and smaller batches until the problem file was identified. Removed it from my library and then Consolidate worked fine through the rest of the library. Problem solved.
I spent several days working through this; hope I can save someone else the time.

  • Itunes won't let me add files from external hard drive

I've been having this problem with my external hard drive and I don't know if it's my computer or iTunes, but I would appreciate any help.
Recently, for some reason, all my songs went missing on iTunes and iTunes would freeze a lot. I reinstalled iTunes and now it's working fine. The problem is, I store my music on an external hard drive and I'm trying to add my files back by going to "Add Folder to Library", but it works every time I do it.
At first, I thought it was freezing because my drive is so big, so I did it folder by folder (organized by artists) and it will work fine for small folders, but if it's a folder with like more than one album, iTunes will crash. At first, I thought something was wrong with one of the music files, but that's not it because it happens with any large folder.
I used to use iTunes Updater, which would update all your songs for you, but now that program doesn't work with the latest version of iTunes. Thanks for any help.

This might be worth a shot - basically seeing if Vista permissions could be the culprit.
Give yourself FULL control and ownership of the exHD, let's call it M:
How to Take Ownership and Grant Permissions in Windows Vista
Take control of the top level folder and ALL subfolders.
Try creating a new blank ITL file on M: by pressing *and holding* the shift key while itunes starts. See if you can add everything again.

It wants to erase your iPhone because you are not syncing it to the same library.
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss.  To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
iCloud only stores a copy of your non-iTunes purchases if you subscribe to Match. It still isn't the best way to get your music to a new computer.  That's
(if you use iTunes' default preferences settings):  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder.

  • Itunes won't let me add music to my phone

I've tried add file to library, but nothing ever shows up on my phone. I sync and nothing. Help...

The new iOS has few issues, i would say update the iTunes and close it and even full restart of the machine then plug and try to sync is. Let me know if that helps.

  • ITunes won't let me add new songs to established playlists - what's wrong?

I'm more than frustrated. Yesterday, everything worked fine! I created 3 playlists and did the drag/drop of songs into the playlists. Today, I bought more music. Those songs show up in my library. But ... when I try to drag/drop the new songs into the established playlists, the playlists don't update. No new songs.

    Thanks!

I'm really a novice at this ... I just found the added songs. I thought they would be put in alphabetically just like the first round. They weren't ... they were added on the bottom.
Sorry for my stupid question. ::sigh::

  • I redeemed a $15 iTunes gift card, but iTunes won't let me download anything. It keeps asking to sign in for billing and I do, but it says security code is invalid on debit card, when it's not. Has anyone experienced this problem?

Hi. My name is Kim. I was wanting to know if anyone has gone through similar experience. I redeemed a iTunes gift card that was given to me. I'm told by iTunes store to sign in which I do, but then it takes me straight to billing I enter the correct three digit security code, then what happens it tells me invalid Cvv. Could someone please tell me this what does my debit card have to do with my having a redeemed ITunes card to use, and why doesn't let me download my music. I use a iPhone 3GS. Thanks

    Hi Kim ...
Might not just be the security code > iTunes Store: My credit card's security code or zip code does not match my bank's records
Apple "verifies" your billing credentials with every transaction.
what does my debit card have to do with my having a redeemed ITunes card
If the total purchase price of the media including any applicable taxes or fees exceeds the balance of the redeemed card, then the difference is charged to your debit or credit card account.

  • Upgrade to Leopard, and now iTunes won't let me delete anything

Ok, So I got Leopard fr x-mas, and I love it. All the features are great. But now iTunes wont let me delete any unwanted songs or videos. I have deleted them from the hard disk, but still appear in my library, and when I try to delete them from the library iTunes "unexpectedly" shuts down. Somebody help!

hi i just upgraded to leopard also and the same thing happened to me. i haven't found a permanent fix for it yet, but, if you hit command-delete it should let you erase the file from itunes with having it shut down on you.
it worked for me, i hope it works for you.

    Justine,
What happens when you try to add new music?  Are the files compatible with iTunes?  See this article for more information on adding content to your iTunes library.
