there is no mail in the app and I have already synced it. what do I do?

Hi,
I suggest you check the added mail account, and check setting for the account, as picture below:
Meanwhile, check the internet connection, or run the Apps troubleshooter and check if it can detect something.

  • Windows Mail App not Auto Syncing

Hey guys, I'm having an issue with the Windows Mail app on both my laptop and Surface RT. I'm running 8.1 on both and I've recently ditched Gmail in favor of Outlook.com. Right now my Gmail accounts are forwarding to Outlook. However, I still sign in to
my computers using my Gmail account (not sure if that matters). Ever since I eliminated my Gmail accounts from the Windows mail app, the app will not automatically sync with Outlook.com when I receive messages. The only time I get updates is if I manually
sync. Yes, I have set the email account to "download as items arrive". I have restarted my computers, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the mail app. Not sure what else to do. Help!

    Hi,
Accrording to your description, the issue occurred on both your laptop and Surface RT.
So,I think the issue isn't related to Windows mail app.
In addition to ZigZag3143x mentioned, I suggest you create a new mail account to test this issue.
If it works,I suggest you remove your outlook.com account and re-add it.

  • Encoding problems in email while on Windows Mail app

    Hello.
I have a question concerning email and encoding problems in the Windows Mail App in Windows 8.1.  I have encountered a problem with an email I received, while reading, I see strange ASCII characters in one email.  I have never encountered it in
my web browsers nor Gmail, just the Mail App.
I was referred to come here when I had asked a similar question there:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-ecoms/strange-foreign-ascii-characters-appearing-in/911f8a44-c302-4fa1-bcaa-3297b32d9120
I don't know which forum to go to so I picked here.
Is there any way that it can be resolved.  I tried to troubleshoot, nothing worked; I even synched, to no avail.
I look forward to a response.
    JB

    Hi JB,
The responder on answers was a bit confused. The MSDN forums are for developers to discuss writing their own apps. We cannot help with problems using Windows or its built-in apps.
If the folks on answers cannot help then you may need to open a support incident. See
http://support.microsoft.com , or the folks on answers may be able to direct you to the specific page for the Windows Mail app.

  • Having trouble removing a student email account from the Windows Mail App because the school has started using office 365 for thier email which i dont have access to

I was wondering if anybody has any ideas on how to remove a gmail account that was set up by a community college for use on their mail servers and then find out that after awhile they have locked you out because they have started using office 365 for their
emails and you are left with a student email account that you have no idea how to delete because you have missied out on deleting it before they changed to a different email provider?
Anybody with ideas please help because I don't know what to do

    Hi,
Regarding to Windows Mail App, do you mean the Modern UI App in Windows 8.1? Do you mean that you want to remove the email account from Mial App? Generally, we can simply remove the account by the "Account" option in Mail App (Open Mail App, move
the mouse the right chram bar, click Account, then click the mail account\Remove account), but if the email acocunt is tied with the Microsoft Account which is used on the pc, in that case, it is unavailable to remove the email account, you need to contact
your college to disconnect the Microsoft Account.
If I'm misunderstanding something, please free correct me.

  • Windows Mail app in LAN-Network "e-mail address not available"

    Hello,
I have a Problem with the Windows Mail app at Windows 8.1. Everything works normally at home, but when I try to update mails at university I get the message "e-mail address not available", but Hotmail works fine. I have four more addresses synced,
none of these is updated while I am logged in at university.
So when I start my computer, I have to log in in the University network via IE, there is also a timeout after an hour or so.
I have to go access my mails in the browser, but that is quite bothersome with four e-mail addresses.
Anyone who has an idea how to solve this?
UPDATE: OneDrive does also not sync. It says all Files are up to date, but there are not. If I try to download files via Onedrive App, I get the error message "Currently, the file can't be opened. An Error ocurred with OneDrive."

    Hi,
How about your problem now? Is your Mail APP still works properly in your home? According to your description, it's should your School network problem. Is your IE enabled any network Proxy when you using it at school?

  • Windows Mail App - Install Certificate

We've installed Windows 8.1 (Enterprise) on to our corporate network, but we're having problems adding an Exchange account to the Mail app.  After entering all the necessary settings (Domain, server, user name etc.) - we get the following error:
To use this account, choose a valid certificate on this PC.  If there isn't one, contact systems administrator.
We have digital certificate set up on our Exchange, but this doesn't appear to be enough for it connect to the mailbox.
Anyone else experiencing this - any advice??
    Thanks

    Hi,
Please check the Certificate to see if we have installed the self-signed certificate.
    1.  Start > Run, type “MMC” and enter.
    2.  In the open window, click File > Add/Remove snap in…
    3.  In the Available snap-ins tab, select Certificates > Add > Computer account > Local computer.
    4.  Click “Finish” and “Ok”.
    5.  Expand Certificates > Personal > Certificate.
Meanwhile, I suggest you refer to Self-Signed Certificates section below.

  • Windows Mail App: Links appearing as plain text.

Some of my emails are not properly displaying web links through my Yahoo account.  For example:  I am personally subscribed to a website known as Slickdeals (http://slickdeals.net), and none of their Deal Notifications have active links within
the Mail app.  Instead, website addresses appear as plain text, even though the same links work just fine when logging into my Yahoo Mail account through IE or Google Chrome.
How can I fix this issue?  I actually love the Mail app, but this is simply a deal-breaker for me if it can not be amended.

website addresses appear as plain text, even though the same links work just fine when logging into my Yahoo Mail account through IE or Google Chrome.
That could just be a difference between E-mail client treatment of text strings which look like URLs but are in HTML and therefore are not links.   Different E-mail clients also provide different functionality in support of such strings when Plain-text
    messages are involved.
Notice that now IE10 has a helpful right-click Go to copied address command to help reduce the inconvenience of such a situation.

  • Windows 8.1 Mail App doesn't sync Exchange account on desktop but does on laptop

I was referred to this forum by another Microsoft engineer, and while I do not believe this is where this problem can be resolved, I'm following his instructions.
I have Windows 8.1 on my desktop PC and an ASUS X205TA laptop. For several months, the three accounts I have under Mail (two Outlook.com accounts and one Microsoft Exchange work account) synced properly on my desktop.
In fact, the Mail app on my desktop worked fine with my Exchange account from the first time I used it under Windows 8 in 2012. The version didn’t seem to matter – whether it was Windows 8 Consumer Preview, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1, the Mail app
connected to my Microsoft Exchange account simply by filling in my email address and password.
Sometime this past summer, however, in the July timeframe, the Mail app stopped synchronizing with my Exchange account. In an effort to repair it, I removed and attempted to reinstall the account. This time, it would not let me load the Exchange account, even
when including additional information (domain, server, user name, et. al.).
This past fall, I purchased the ASUS notebook with Windwows 8.1 installed, and I was able to successfully load my Exchange account in Windows Mail using just my email address and password, as well as the two Outlook.com accounts, and all three accounts synchronize
properly. When I went back to my desktop, however, I noticed that the Liberty email account was listed under my Mail app. Apparently, since my laptop and desktop configurations are registered under the same Microsoft account, when they synchronized, the Liberty
email account which I successfully loaded on my notebook appeared on my desktop system as well.
The Mail app on the desktop, however, still can’t synchronize with my Exchange account so, in effect, I’m back to where I was in July. I would also add that I'm running Microsoft Outlook 2013 on my desktop and laptop and, in both cases, all three of my email
accounts are installed and working properly.
I don’t know if this information gives you insight into what the problem might be, but it’s apparent that there’s something in the configuration of my desktop Windows Mail app that is causing the problem. It’s working just fine on my notebook.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Mail app multiple times, run the App Troubleshooter, and tried a Clean Boot installation of the Exchange account. None of these fixed the problem.
As I told the other Microsoft engineer, if this were an Exchange problem, I wouldn't be able to connect to my Exchange account in Outlook 2013 on my desktop and my laptop, nor would I be able to connect to my Exchange account using Windows 8.1 Mail
    on my laptop.
The problem is specifically with the Windows 8.1 Mail app on my desktop PC, and its sudden inability to sync with my Exchange account after it worked in every iteration of Windows 8 since 2012.
I have posted this issue in this forum as suggested, but my troubleshooting does not point to an Exchange problem, but rather a Windows 8.1 Mail app problem on my desktop PC.
    Can you help?

    Hello ronontheright,
Do you mean that only the Exchange account in the desktop Mail app can’t sync?
Please take a look at the following article.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2012/11/26/supporting-windows-8-mail-in-your-organization.aspx
Exchange ActiveSync can be used to sync data for email, contacts, and calendar. The Windows 8 Mail app supports Exchange ActiveSync.
Please open the Windows Store app Calendar and People to check if they can normally sync.
Please try to remove the account in Mail app and sign in again and check if the issue still exists.

  • Windows 8.1 Mail app limitation

I can't send more then 3 or 4 pictures (1MB each) with the Windows Mail app.
Tested with gmail account and company Exchange account.
Is this a limitation of this app? I can't find it with dr. Google ;-)

    Hi,
I tested in my own mail app, I can successfully send the pictures, I can also send more large documents like word\PDF.... As I know, mail does not enforce any limits on number and size of attachments users can send.
Do you get any errors when you send the mail with 3 or 4 pictures or other large documents? Have you checked this network bandwith?  Is it a unmetered network or metered network?
Have you tried to send in another mail application or web mail in browser? What is the result?

  • Windows Phone and Windows 8 Mail App not sending email from Reply/Forward

I have recently upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1. After a successful upgrade I configured the Windows 8 Mail app to also sync with Exchange (2010 in house server). On my Windows Phone (Nokia Lumia 800) I have the same account configured.
This resulted in the problem that the Mail App and the phone do not want to send any emails that have been created by reply or forward.
The phone gives the following error:
"We weren't able to send this message, so we've put it in your Drafts folder. Before you try sending it again, you can check to see if the address is correct and that no attachments are too large."
The Mail App give the following error:
"There's a problem with sending messages from [email protected] at the moment. Check with your provider for more info."
If I create a new email there is no problem.
I have searched all over the internet for a solution to this problem, but could not find somebody with exactly the same problem.

I have exactly the same problem, but unfortunately no solution either... I'll be watching this thread, or post a solution if I find one...

  • Mail app - Metro Windows 8 - HELP

I am trying to setup a user on the Metro Mail app on Windows 8 but keep on receiving the same error:
unable to connect. ensure that the information youve entered is correct
The user can connect to Outlook without any issues, and can connect to OWA without any problems, I am assuming this should just work:
I have entered email address, password, domain, server address, username and it fails each time, not just one user for all 5 users apart from 1 user which is working fine which is strange.  Why should one user work if they have the exact same setup
    as all other users???

    Hi,
This may be occurring due to one of the following:
You may be including “https://” in the server address field when setting up your account.
Add the email address without https://
Your computer’s date and time may be incorrect.
Check and correct your computer’s date and time.
Check and correct your computer’s time zone settings.
Your computer may not meet the Microsoft Exchange server’s security requirements.
The most common reasons why your PC might not meet the Microsoft Exchange server’s security equirements for this account:An administrator account on your PC doesn’t have a password. All administrator accounts must have a password.
Please follow this guide to setup your Mail App:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/mail-app-tutorial
Since this the forum for Outlook, if above didn't fix the issue, you can post your question to the Windows Client forum for further assistance:

  • Windows 8.1 Mail app does not sync with the Office 365 account

My company has recently switched to Office 365. Windows 8.1 Metro Mail app does not work with Office365 account. When I switch to IMAP it works but that is soon going to be disabled and is not compliant with the company policy.
I can add the account and it also pushes the security policies but it does not sync email at all. Says account is not available. The tablet shows up on the mobile devices on the office 365 and I could also remote wipe it.
It seems everything works except basing email sync. What could be the issue?

  • Windows 8.1 Mail app and Exchange Autodiscover

An organisation Im currently supporting has exchange 2010 and autodiscover setup. I've used nslookup to verify autodiscover settings and everything seems ok. When I launch the Windows 8.1 Mail metro app, autodiscover is not working. I have to enter all the
required fields to get email working.
Is this anything additionally for Windows Mail autodiscover to work that is different from autodiscover for the Outlook client that needs to be in place?
Is it a requirement for Exchange Active sync to be enabled? I've been told they are using a 3rd party tool, possibly Sophos,
    thanks
    glen_cni

    Hi,
As far as I know, Mail APP doesn't have autodiscover ability to identify the confirguation of Exchange. While, in my opinion, it would be better to contact the Mail APP support for further assistance:

  • Certificate based authentication for Exchange ActiveSync in Windows 8.* Mail app

I have a Surface Pro and want to setup access to my company's Exchange server that accepts only Exchange ActiveSync certificate-based authentication.
I've installed server certificates to trusted pool and my certificate as personal.
Then I can connect thru Internet Explorer, but this is not comfortable to use.
I don't have a password because of security politics of our company. When I'm setting up this account on my Android phone I'm using any digit for password and it works perfectly.
Can someone help to setup Windows 8 metro-style Mail application? Does it supports this type of auth? When I'm trying to add account with type Outlook, entering server name, domain name, username, 1 as a password then I've got a message like "Can't
    connect. Check your settings."
Is there any plans to implement this feature?

For what it's worth we have CBA working with Windows 8.1 Pro.  In our case we have a MobileIron Sentry server acting as an ActiveSync reverse-proxy, so it verifies the client cert then uses Kerberos Constrained Delegation back to the Exchange CAS, however
it should work exactly the same to the Exchange server directly.  I just used the CA to issue a User Certificate, exported the cert, private key and root CA cert, copied to the WinPro8.1 device and into the Personal Store.  Configured the Mail app
to point at the ActiveSync gateway, Mail asked if I would like to allow it access the certificate (it chose it automatically) and mail synced down immediately...
So it definitely works with Windows Pro 8.1.
