I am a volunteer here. I don't work for Lenovo

Biggest problem for me is Energy Management and Bluetooth.
Here's what I did to install Bluetooth:
- Install Energy Management for Windows 7
(It will give a warning that program isn't compatible, ignore)
   Enable the bluetooth device
Install latest drivers from Broadcom:
http://www.broadcom.com/support/bluetooth/update.php
(this will reboot your PC)
Then uninstall "Lenovo energy management".
You should be able to enable/disable bluetooth via windows and turn it off in Device Manager.
Some annoyances, the 'bluetooth' status light is always on.
I've tried both Energy Management 8.0.2.3 (Y580) and Energy Management 8.0.2.20 (Y570) and both aren't working properly with the Y560.
I almost kind of regret 'activating' bluetooth since I find the light indicator that stays always on annoying.
Hopefully there's update for the Y560, this is my last Ideapad laptop, just awful support.

Hi, i recently bought a Lenovo IdeaPad N580 (M/N 20182) and it came with windows 8 preinstalled, i have no intentions in keeping windows 8 and i want to format it and get windows 7, this is the first lenovo i buy and i've been reading in the forums and other sites a couple of things that caught my attention.
Are there any partitions i shoulnd get rid of?
I dont care at all about the windows 8 and the software it cames with but i dont want any components (TouchPad, Audio, etc) to stop working (i alredy downloaded most of the drivers available in the support section of this website) are there any risks none the less?
What things should i keep in mind, pre download or read before i format and last but not least i would appreciate any advices.
    thanks in advance.

  • IdeaPad Y560 and SATA SSD

I was frustrated at the lack of recent help info on putting an SSD in a Y560, specifically.  I know, it's a five year old machine, but still going strong.  So I'm posting this not as a question but how I did it for future reference.  I have the top end i7, 500GB, 8GB RAM Y560.  SSD:  Samsung EVO 850 500GB SATA SSD.  End result, it works like a charm, the SSD sitting in the hdd slot where the factory Hitachi HDD sat. What I did.First, the USB/SATA adapters did not work for me.  I originally tried putting the SSD on SATA adapter.   Was not recognized.  I tried using Acronis True Image to backup full disk to a separate USB HDD, then restore onto the SSD in the machine.  did not work.  I ended up putting the SSD and the laptop HDD in my desktop computer (I have extra bays) then using my Acronis True Image to clone the laptop HDD to the SSD.   Then I put the SSD in the laptop.  Initially would not boot - got bootmgr missing error.  Put the SSD back in my desktop, used Windows disk manager and had to set the system partition as active (not the C drive with the OS).   That fixed it. Booted right up and works great.

few more details: Windows 7.  and, I also upgraded the Y560 with a Intel 802.11ac 2x2 7260 wireless card.  That was a simple swap out.  Had to uninstall the older version of drivers, then reinstall Intel Proset wireless.  Now I have a dual band ac wireless laptop   works well.

  • Blown out screen - Windows 7 - Ideapad U460

I've had this Ideapad U460 for about two months. Yesterday, when I opened the lid, the screen was really blown out. Text is very light against white backgrounds, and all of the graphics are very light. This isn't an issue with the backlight, even when I turn the backlight all the way down everything is still blown out.
I went into the Windows 7 color calibration wizard and had to turn the gamma all the way down to get it to look somewhat normal, but after I shut the lid and opened it again, the problem is back.
Is this a hardware problem? How do I fix it? It's very hard to use the computer with such a blown out screen.
    Thanks--

This issue happens to me as well. It has happened several times since I got my U460. Each time lasts for a day or two, and 2 or 3 months goes by between incidents.
I couldn't really figure out what to take a picture of, and my camera had trouble focusing on the screen. Suffice it to say everything is lighter than it should be.
Switching between "battery save" mode and normal mode seems to be a trigger, though it can happen without a switch.
I hope this gets resolved. Not a huge issue, but it shouldn't happen.

  • Windows 8 on ideapad z575

I have just installed windows 8 pro on ideapad z575. Everything works great all devices are recognized and working. Only issue that I have is that some Microsoft applications from store won't update or install, some of them maybe probably during driver updates because this is all Microsoft basic drivers, besides that everything works flawlessly. Probably that would be fixed when Lenovo release official drivers.

Not all drivers have been released for windows 8 of all machines. The only thing you can try is installing windows 7 driver on windows 8. Most of the time they work but they may not work too and you would have to wait for them to be published.

  • Fastest way to install windows 8 with windows 7 or vice versa

    Hi
How much time did it take for you install windows 8 on your pc as a dual boot? It took me 5m56s!!!
The only difference between you all and me would be the method via which we installed. This method does requires legal windows 8 copy or the one which you re installing. This process is far better than installing by booting from cd.
In this method, we use the install.wim of windows installation to install windows. I found this because i was actually preparing for a project on wim images on school. Basically, windows installer also uses the install.wim file to install windows. It was first introduced in windows vista i believe and from then, the trend continued. WIM stands for Windows Imaging Format. . These images are also used in one key recovery for the factory backup. These images can be managed by dism comand line and imagex tool
I know that i have been dragging it for a bit long, so lets start then. It can be done by two programs, gimagex or imagex. The differnce between the two is that imagex works on command line only but the gimagex is like an imagex with user interface-much easier. So, we would use gimagex here, download from below
    http://www.autoitscript.com/site/autoit-tools/gimagex/
So lets move into the steps
Insert the windows 8/windows 7 dvd or mount the respective iso.
Clear a partition for the new os
Run gimagex, go to the info tab. Select the image file there. Navigate to the setup directory and enter the soruces folder. Then select the install.wim file and then pressget info. It would display the os version it has. See the index number after the title of the version name.
Select the source first. The source is the install.wim image. Navigate to the setup directory and enter the soruces folder. Then select the install.wim file.
Now select the destination. Select the drive which you cleaned for the installation of the os. Then choose the index number of the os version you want to install.
Click apply and then it would be a matter of 5-6 minutes.
After the process is finished, dont reboot. Now, you have to install Easy Bcd since the windows 8 installation wont be registered in the bot configuration data. Download from here. Just download the non-commercial free copy of the software. Instal it and then run. Go to add new entry, select windows 8/7 and name it as windows 8 and lastly select the drive leter in the drive it was installed and press add entry.
Now it is the time to reboot. You would see windows 8 in the boot menu. Boot into it.
Setup windows 8 and download the drivers from here before hand.
With the help of this, you will be able to easily dual boot windows 8 and windows 7 without messing up anything. This is by far the easiest and fasted method to install windows i have witnessed till now
If you want to clean( only kep one os) install, you will have to use imagex in windows pe mode or in cmd in windows 8 install disk.
After these proesses, i cannot assure if one key reocvery would work, so make backup before hand.
And if you have any questions, feel free to ask
    Hope this helps

  • Itunes 1.11 windows 8 install problems, itunes 11.1 windows 8 install problems

I am running Windows 8 on a Dell XPS16 laptop and was using iTunes v 10 something.  When upgrading my iPhone 4S to IOS7 while connected to iTunes running on my PC, the upgrade indicated that I needed to upgrade my iTunes to v11.1 something (the latest version).  I proceeded to do this and the upgrade appeared to work OK.  However, when attempting to restart iTunes (after a reboot) all that happened was that the iTunes Software License Agreement window opened on my PC.  There are no buttons on the window, even after scrolling all the way to the bottom, and no option but to close the window.  So my current state is that I now no longer have a working iTunes on my PC.
I have tried many of the suggestions made to others who were also having problems with this upgrade.  Each time I downloaded, saved, ran or re-ran an upgrade, the install appeared to work fine and finished normally.  Each time the installation populates the \Program Files (X86)\iTunes folders and the properties of the iTunes.exe are as follows:
I thought this was to be a Windows 64 bit upgrade so I'm not sure why it gets put in "...\Program Files (X86)" as opposed to "...\Program Files".
I have tried all of the following and each time I just get the same license agreement window shown previously:
    1.  Followed an iTunes support link that indicated how to remove and cleanup all Apple software and then re-install iTunes by downloading it and using Run As Administrator to run the downloaded file iTunes64Setup.exe.
    2.  Tried to troubleshoot the .exe using the properties | compatibility | Run Compatibility Troubleshooter option - no luck.
    3. Numerous cycles of download and save the update, uninstall the old, install the new, install/repair the existing, etc.
Note that about a month ago, I allowed iTunes to upgrade itself to version 11.1... and the same thing happened as described above.  I spent many hours trying to resolve the issue and finally had to go back to ITunes 10 something.  I have, since that time, ignored any iTunes requests to upgrade but in a weak moment when upgrading my phone, I lost my head and let the upgrade proceed!  Hopefully someone has a solution to getting the Windows 8 64 bit upgrade working.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Henry.

  • S200 With 64 Bit Windows - No Drivers

I just bought an S200 which comes stock with 4Gig of Ram. So I wanted to install 64bit windows 7 so I could utilize all of the ram in the machine. But then I discovered that Lenovo only offers the main chipset and various other drivers for the S200 in 32bit only. So as a result I had to install Windows 7 32bit and I am only able to use 3GB of the 4GB of the ram inside the machine. What is the logic behind this and is there any solution here? Cheers...

What was the default os on your laptop? By the way is your system hardware based on 32 bit or 64 bit?
