Windows 8 Phones not welcome

Verizon's support of Windows phone is below satisfactory.  Phone selection is poor, little to no accessories in store and customer service reps that will almost fight you not to buy a Windows phone in favor of Apple or Android.  I've owned both, both suck.
That being said, I will be buying my contracts out (I know it's expensive but don't care at this point) beginning the first of the year (4 lines) and moving to AT&T.  Their phone selections for Windows is OUTSTANDING!  It seems Verizon has been kicked backed by competitors of Windows Phone, like many app developers to not support window phones, I'm sure (my opinion, no facts).  To me this could be the only explanation to pass up on revenue from those who will not own Apple or Android.
I remember when Android first came out, there were very few apps and hardly anyone owned the phones, then overnight the apps were developed, released and it took off.  Funny how this hasn't happened for Windows Phone.  How hard can it be to convert C++ app from one device to another... it's not.  The only thing that would prevent that would be Verizon and developers hoping Windows phone will fails without their apps, or the programmers at these companies are not good enough programmers to convert their apps to Windows.
Once a descent cable company comes to my area I will be abandoning Verizon Fios as well due to their treatment of Windows phone.  Yes, I love Windows products and am just as radical about it as others are about Apple and Android.

It all is about money.
Not only is the windows phone sales weak, they have even lost ground.
My lord its like buying an amazon Fire device at AT&T that also will not make loads of cash for the cellular providers.
Apps are not made by cell phone providers. However I have read Verizon wants to attempt the app store once again which failed the last time out.
Verizon Plans to Build Yet Another App Store | DSLReports, ISP Information
The cell companies sell access to the cellular and data networks. That is all.

    Mr. Chauncey,
You seem to misunderstand the substance of the request.  This site has a category entitled Windows Mobile.  The category is not named Windows Forums or Windows Products.  Within the Windows Mobile category are sections entitled Windows Phone Discussions, as you noted, and HTC Trophy.  Windows Phone is distinctly different and separate from Windows Mobile, so discussions about Windows Phone should not be categorized under Windows Mobile.  The HTC Trophy runs Windows Phone not Windows Mobile, so the HTC Trophy should not be categorized under Windows Mobile.  Windows Mobile is defunct.  Windows Phone is the correct name for the current Windows devices.  This site needs to be updated.

    Seeking your valuable advice here,
    Thanks

    Nelson N Exchange 2003|2007|2010

    Hi Nelson,
To better understand the issue, I would like to collect the following information.
    1. Have you added the new hosting provider, Microsoft Lync Online, and then set up hosting provider federation between your organization and Lync Online ?
Configuring for push notifications in Lync Server 2013
    2. Have you installed the new root certificate?
Lync Servers currently use the GTE CyberTrust Global Root and beginning on June 1st, 2013 will migrate to the Baltimore CyberTrust Root. The
migration of Lync Online Service to use the new Baltimore trusted root Certificate Authority is planned during May 2013. As of June 1st 2013,
all of our servers including the Lync Push Notifications Clearing House Service will be on Baltimore certs only. So please ensure that your Lync Server deployments have been updated to trust the Baltimore Root before that.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/lync/archive/2013/05/02/lync-mobile-push-notifications.aspx
In addition, it is recommend to update the Lync servers to the lasted version.
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • Windows Phone and Windows 8 Mail App not sending email from Reply/Forward

I have recently upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1. After a successful upgrade I configured the Windows 8 Mail app to also sync with Exchange (2010 in house server). On my Windows Phone (Nokia Lumia 800) I have the same account configured.
This resulted in the problem that the Mail App and the phone do not want to send any emails that have been created by reply or forward.
The phone gives the following error:
"We weren't able to send this message, so we've put it in your Drafts folder. Before you try sending it again, you can check to see if the address is correct and that no attachments are too large."
The Mail App give the following error:
"There's a problem with sending messages from [email protected] at the moment. Check with your provider for more info."
If I create a new email there is no problem.
I have searched all over the internet for a solution to this problem, but could not find somebody with exactly the same problem.

I have exactly the same problem, but unfortunately no solution either... I'll be watching this thread, or post a solution if I find one...

  • Inking for Windows Phone 8.1 (Not Silverlight)

Is there any way to use Inking for Windows phone 8.1 application. I am able to use it in Silverlight application for freehand drawing.
But is there anything available to use for this purpose in WinRT?

    Hi Morichi,
As far as I known in Windows Phone 8.1 Runtime there is no such a Inking api or control as in Windows Phone 8.1 Silverlight app. If you want to implement the inking function in Windows phone 8.1 Runtime application, please try to refer to
the @Rob Caplan - MSFT's reply in this thread:

  • WCF Add Service Reference Not Supported for Windows Phone 8.1 XAML Applications

Windows Phone 8.1 XAML applications does not support the System.ServiceModel namespace, and therefore you are not able to right click references in the project and choose Add Service Reference.   The recommended solution is to add a REST endpoint
to your WCF endpoint, and access the WCF application through the REST endpoint using HttpClient.
    Bret Bentzinger (MSFT) @awehellyeah

My opinion on this subject is that someone in management needs to get rid of the "Yes Man" and hire someone with a backbone.
A project (such as this one) suffered big time because of your excuse of meeting a deadline. Did nobody do feasibility studies to determine the effects of removing the ServiceModel namespace and how it would break migration? It wasn't removed from the other
project types, so it wasn't a point that it wouldn't fit on the device, so it came down to testing and someone dropped the ball. This is poor management, and deadlines should be extended for critical points within a project. Think about the public relations
that has already been set backwards by this move. I believe that it meets the critical criteria only because you are talking about targeting the mobile devices which consume external data sources as a key component. Lacking the ServiceModel namespace was a
monumental error on the teams part.
This is a perfect case of "we can ship the car", but the wheels will have to wait...they can "Flintstone it" until we get the wheels ready.

With your phone plugged in, open Image Capture and see if the iPhone shows up.  If not, you are having a sync problem.  If it shows up in Image Capture, but not iTunes, I'd delete iTunes and reinstall it.

  • Application Insights is not recording any data from the released version of my Windows Phone app

I released my first Windows Phone app a week ago, and Application Insights worked perfectly to collect usage data whilst in a debug build. However, the released version of the app is not returning any data at all. Is this a common problem for new apps or
is there a problem that I need to address?
I configured Application Insights for my app using the information on this guide - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn509554.aspx
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated, thanks for your help.

Hi Bernard, thanks for your reply.
I tested the data using a release package of the Windows Phone app deployed directly to my phone from Visual Studio and the data appeared after around 10 minutes. However, once I published the exact same package to the Windows Phone Store and started using
the version downloaded from the store, no usage data has been uploaded even after several days of waiting.
I am using SDK 0.7.1 and Application Insights Tools for Visual Studio v1.3.2. The app is built for WP 8.0 and running on WP 8.1.

  • NOKIA lumia windows 8 phones not supporting JAVA

Hi Nokia lumia latest windows 8 phones not supporting java. I Think its a big draw back because we cant install any java apps like Mobile banking Apps. Java apps market increasing day by day. Why nokia avoid this feature. is there any solution for this problem.

no solution unfortunately, however you may be able to try your luck with the WebApps app from the Store, and then search for your particular mobile banking website within that app.
and no, it is not Nokia that is not implementing support for Java, it is part of the Microsoft Windows Phone 8 operating system. if you wish to leave feedback with them, you can do so over at http://windowsphone.uservoice.com
