Windows 8 PHotkey for MSi CX480

Is there any PHotkey for MSi CX480 Windows 8? All of my function buttons is not working on windows 8. If you have any solutions, let me know . Thanks!

CX480 is not among the notebooks verified for a Win 8 upgrade (http://event.msi.com/2012/know_win8/upgrade.html). MSI does not provide any drivers or support for Win 8 and this model. Everything else is up to your trying. What does not work under Win 8 with this model won't work.

drivers for windows 7 only where windows 8 ?

Somehow reminds me of the urge of people that jumped on the Ivy BIOS bandwagon whilst using their Sandy CPUs.
Re-install Win 7 and enjoy a stable OS. Win8 is probably a repeat of Vista. Users are paying for an OS to do testing for M$    The latest is not always the best.
Win8 will probably be followed by a revised OS in a very short space of time.

  • Trying to update to iTunes 10.4.1 and I get a message "A network error occured while attempting to read from the file C:|Windows|Installer|iTunes.msi"  Running WIndows 7 with all updates done.  I  have never had an issue with iTunes updating before.  Anyo

iTunes has tried to update itself and runs into an error and tells me to manually install.  When I d/l and run the iTunesSetup.exe file I always encounter the following error message...
"A network error occured while attempting to read from the file C;|Windows|Installer|iTunes.msi" and iTunes does not update to iTunes 10.4.1.
Anyone know what is creating this error message?  Thanks for the help...

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Brain food for MSI engineers, malware in MSI hardware

    Good Morning Everyone,
This is for MSI engineers, I will be happy if you can sort out this problem or in any case this email will help you design your systems better in the future. Let me start by thanking MSI engineers for doing a great job, I love and enjoy the MSI products and services. Thanks for doing a great job. Now to the problem...
I have an old PC based on G31TM-P21 mother board. I have gifted it away to my friends/students and they came back to inform me that it does not work. It puzzled me and I used Wire Shark network analyser to find an IGMP protocol based beacon running over it. Now this poor PC is an ordinary desktop and was never intended to use protocols like IGMP that contacts ICANN, it is even more curious to find that firewall that comes free with Windows Vista actually will never block this IGMP protocol because VISTA does not expect home users to use IGMP protocol. Anyway, I reinstalled everything and in a couple of days the guys were back complaining that system no longer boots and this time I found out that system is in actually in halt state, the CPU fan is running and everything is fine but system just does not reach POST screen. I cleared CMOS and reached BIOS setup. I enabled the option to not to halt on any error in BIOS and viola the system was up and running in no time. I wish the troubled ended there but the guys came back after couple of weeks with the usual trouble that system dose not work. I cleared the CMOS and again reached the BIOS setup and disabled the USB controller and hey presto the system is online again although no USB hardware can be used over it. Enable the USB controller and bang everything goes down again.
This IGMP beacon seems to be platform independent because I had installed windows/linux on the system but it does not seem to go away even after formatting the hard drive and zeroing/clearing every sector. The beacon just gives away the identity of the system on web and then the malware writer finds out what I have done to fix the system and then he moves on to improve the malware.
All right, MSI guys can always point and tell me that TPM module option was there and it would have avoided this malware attack on motherboard.
Now, I love the MSI idea of taking the back up of BIOS but I wish they can give a similar kind of option for firmware also.
I personally believe the system is toasted but any update to fix this trouble will be great.
I "guess" malware author has reprogrammed the south bridge of the motherboard because thats where the USB controller is located. I wonder why the option of reprogramming ASICs is there on the motherboard. I wish there was some kind of jumper to make these chips read only and stop these kind of destructive online attacks.
That was long email, if you made it to the end then thanks a lot for your time and patience. Have some coffee and have a great day.
    Ciao,
    protob
PS: The TOSHIBA (Linux) and Sony (VISTA) laptops that I am using right now seems to have caught the same malware. This is MSIs great opportunity to improve the hardware+marketing and take over the market. :-)

  • Generic driver for MSI D16

Can anyone tell me where I can get a generic driver for MSI D16 MS-8216?
There isnt one on this site and all the driver sites I have looked at so far dont have MSI drivers.
    Any help would much apreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

What is your computer's specification? If the computer is fairly new then you do not need a driver. Windows will detect the drive automatically.

  • MOVED: Windows 8 and MSI gx623

This topic has been moved to Windows 8 Upgrade for MSI systems.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=163647.0

There is no other bios. Furthermore your notebook is not verified to be update-able for Windows 8: http://event.msi.com/2012/know_win8/upgrade.html
MSI won't support a Win 8 upgrade for this notebook in any way. Therefor there won't be drivers nor bios versions updated for Win8. If it works is up to your trying.

I can't boot overclocked from bios even at 220 HT, and at the beginning i was REALY disapointed.
Then i set it to optimize defaults ( and yes i did the whole flashing thing ) and i am now IN WINDOWS with my cheapo Kingston Value that did MAX 230 with problems NOW AT A WOOPING 237 Mhz and still going UP !!!!
    OMG OMG....
If only i can get it to boot from bios.Seems pretty stable in windows even at 237.
Really strange guys.I thought 230 was my memory limit....
Gonna try higher and let you know.
P.S. this bios seems to like Kinston Ram....Value at least

  • Request: AHCI/IDE controller mod for MSI EX610 BIOS v.3.09

Hoping to eliminate my windows 7 installation problem mentioned in https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=141925, I would like to request an AHCI/IDE and SATA controller (are they the same???) mod for MSI EX610 (latest BIOS Version is v.3.09), like the one that had been previously done for EX600:
Quote from: Svet on 28-May-09, 21:04:10
Purpose of the MSI EX600 Notebook 5.09 BIOS Mod:
    * Rebuild option to control Sata controller mode per user request: http://forum-de.msi.com/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=90392
Would it be too much to ask to have swapped Fn/LCtrl buttons at the same time? (would it be possible to build this on the previous mod you've already done to swap Fn/LCtrl keys of EX610 at https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=123070.0 ?
Quote from: Svet on 31-December-08, 02:18:09
Purpose of the EX610 3.09 BIOS Mod:
    * Reverse/swap the notebook keys functions of the "Fn" key with Left "Ctrl" key.
     {E.g "Fn" key will act as "Ctrl" key, and "LCtrl" will act as "Fn" key}
Thanks for all your help and support.
    Donated as requested.
    Best wishes

AHCI/IDE is not an issue in this, Windows7 supports both.
The shutdown must have some other reason.
Vista was working beautifully on this machine. It has to be some driver /BIOS issue. Can however someone send me the modified BIOS, just to make sure. I would be very thankful.
Also, might be I need to preload some drivers for Windows7 to be able to finish smoothly? If so - were I can get the chipset drivers for Win7/Vista?
I still assume that as the original poster disappeared after he got the modified BIOS, his problem was solved with that.
Would be very thankful for any help.

  • Graphics driver details for MSI Z77MA-G45 and other motherboards

This is request for MSI to put more details of the on-board graphics capabilities.
My goal is to have four monitors by adding an additional PCIe graphics card.
Recent versions of Windows can only support multiple graphics cards if the drivers are essentially the same.
I would like to see enough information on the spec sheets for the integrated graphics so that I can decide what models of graphics cards I can buy so that Windows will work with my new card as well as the on-board graphics.
The spec sheet says Radeon but I think that there are many options in the Radeon family.
    Thanks

What? Where have you read that. How should different vga adapters have the same driver. Windows 7 can handle different vga drivers
