  • It's impossible to install Windows 64 Bits on my Macbook Pro, why?

    Hey everybody,
I was tryng for three days to install Windows (8 and 7 after) 64 bits version on my Macbook Pro and I can tell you that It's impossible...
It's doesnt matter what I do, the PC does not recognize the bootable disk or usb for Windows.
    I followed these steps:
    - I downloaded the Windows 7 official ISO image to burn a DVD Setup after use the Boot Camp Assistant.
    - When I used the Boot Camp Assistant, I tried to "Download the latests Windows support software from Apple" but 2 minutes after I chose that option, the assistant alert me that the Server doesn't have the files anymore... so I had to simply use the install option BUT it requires that I put the Windows Installation CD on my PC and when I put it on it... the PC doesnt recognize it! My "solution": I mount a Virtual Drive with the ISO image of the DVD and now my Mac recognize the Installation CD so I can continue with the installation...
    - After that the PC was restarted and thats the last step that I reach because when It's tryng to start with the Installation Drive it's doesn't recognize... again!! A black screen appears with a text that say "Insert a bootable drive and press any key"... or something like that.
So I'm stuck in this step because I was tryng to use another Installation CDs, burning it again and again, tryng with Windows 8 too and nothing happens.
I tried to make an USB Bootable too but my Boot Camp Assistant doesnt have any option to make it (I read that some macbooks have an a 3rd option in his Boot Camp Assistant that prepare a USB with the ISO of any Windows Installation CD) so obviously whitout it was completely useless.
I was tryng to make a bootable dvd with UDF format (cause I read that if the cd is not in that format It doesnt be recognize in Mac as a bootable drive...).
What can I do? I know that Windows 32 Bits Systems run on my Mac but It should support 64 Bits Systems too (I was reading the compatibility of Boot Camp and Windows versions and It should run!).
    Please help me
    My Macbook Model is:
    Macbook Pro 13-inch, Mid 2010
Processor 2,4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory 4 GB 1067 Mhz DDR3
    Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256MB
    Software: OS X 10.9.2 (13C1021)
    Boot Camp Version: 5.1.2 (481)

you can just download the bootcamp drivers manually
    http://www.apple.com/dk/support/bootcamp/
    and you can't
: I mount a Virtual Drive with the ISO image of the DVD
bootloader time nothing can read virtual drives you need a real dvd with the iso burned on it or to do the usb install way
have you tried to view some of the tons of youtube guides which show you step by step how to install windows on bootcamp ?

  • Very disapointed in Lenovo's service on my T430 machine type 2342CTO with Windows Pro 7 64 bit

I have been a ThinkPad user since the first model 700.  I have always liked them and when I have had to use other laptops I found them inferior.  However one thing my team has been telling me in the past year or two is that they do not want to purchase anymore Lenovo ThinkPad's.  They have told me that the service and support has been greatly degraded.  I was hesitant to agree with them until my present experience.  We purchase all of our ThinkPad's with a 4 year on-site warranty.  We have people who are in the field and when their computer goes down we need to get it back up and running ASAP.
Three weeks ago my hard drive started to give me some problems and  one day after shutting down the computer a message came up that it needed to run Checkdisk which it did.  I was able to keep it going and I did have a backup.   I contacted  the 800 number to talk with a service person and they ordered up service for the replacement of the hard drive and also to replace the fan and sent me the system disks for the T430.  Two days later the insight service person showed up with the parts.  The disks showed up as well via UPS.  The service person replaced the fan and the HDD.  There were 4 DVD's for the system disks.  He started the rebuild and asked if I could finish it and I said I could with no problem.  He left.  I continued the process.  After the 3rd DVD it asked to put in the 4th and when I did a message said that this was the wrong DVD.  I tried all the other 3 with the same response.  I tried building it from scratch again and the same problem.  I called support again and the guy I spoke with thought that I must have a bad DVD and he would send out another set.  That set of 4 DVD’s arrived the next day which I was very thankful for.  He told me that they could only guaranty 2 days.  I thought OK we should be up and running shortly.  The same problem occurred again.  Bear in mind that both sets of these DVD's were all labeled for the ThinkPad T430 machine type 2342 which was my laptop and for Windows Pro 7, 64 bit.  I called Lenovo and this time the tech I spoke with said that there was another set of Disks for my machine that should have been sent.  Of course I was frustrated but there was not a lot I could do about that and I asked if they could make sure that they were overnighted to me so that I would be sure to get them on the next day which was Thursday.  He told me that he could not do that, that they could only guaranty 2 day. I called the next morning to get the tracking number which they gave me and it was supposed to be delivered on Friday which I was very thankful for.  That was Good Friday.  However UPS had some severe weather at their hub in Kentucky and everything was delayed and the disks did not show up until Monday.  I had now been down a whole week from my first call the Monday before.
The new set of disks was 3 DVD’s labeled for the T430, Machine type 2342 and Windows Pro 7, 64 bit.  I started the build process.  It continued to work but I made a mistake in the order of disks so I thought that these disks have a problem too.  I called Lenovo and they said that I should just send the system in for depot repair.  I said that will take at least until probably Thursday.  The guy I was speaking to said that I should have it back by Wednesday.  I asked if there was any way that I could send it to them directly that day.  He said no I could not, I had to wait for a box.  I asked if there was anyway to expedite the process and he spoke to his manager and his manager said that the level of service that was on the machine would not allow for any faster service.  The also told me that my service contract would allow me to take it to an authorized Lenovo service center around me.  I said to him that they probably have a queue as well and that I will have to wait for that.  As an aside note we did try service like this with one of our other ThinkPad’s that had a problem and the place messed up the system and we ended up at the end of the day having to send it to their depot for repair.  I hung up and though let me try these disks one more time.  I did and I saw my mistake and the system loaded up the DVD’s properly.  I was getting excited that I could be up and running shortly.  However my excitement was short lived.  Once it started to reboot and expand the installation the drive failed and said that it had to run Checkdisk.  It did and once again there were all kinds of orphaned files etc.  I had to reboot and run it from the DVD’s again and I went through the whole process once again.  The system went into a complete failure and would not do anything.  I called back support with my case # and gave them this information.  The box came the next day and I packed it up and sent it off.  I then started tracking it and it arrived on Wednesday as expected.  Then I wanted to go to the site and track the progress of the repair.  The document you have to fill out and send back with the system gives information on where to go on the web to track the process.  My shows that it arrived on Wednesday 4/8 as expected.  The first message shows “Machine being repaired” at 08:52.  Then I checked later in the early evening hoping to see shipped back to customer.  However what I did see was the following message “Hold for Parts – Service call is on hold until parts arrive”.  Then I kept tracking it and saw another entry on 4/10 at 02:01:54 which was the same “Hold for Parts – Service call is on hold until parts arrive”.  That was of course Friday.  I called the service and they told me that they were waiting on parts which they could not tell me what parts and that there was nothing that they could do.  I then asked if there was anyway to expadite this and the girl I spoke to said that she would seek to accelerate this to another level and that I would get a call from Lenovo in the next 2 to 3 business days!  I said to her that you really mean that that is accelerating it and she said yes.  Yesterday I received a call from an automated attendant, not a real person who told me that they were waiting on parts for my computer and that it could be “5 to 7 business days before they receive the part”.  I could not believe this.  I called again today 4/15 and asked if anyone could tell me the status because the website told me very little.  I told the girl that I was speaking to that I had received this automated attendant telling me that a part would take 5 to 7 business days more.  I asked her if Lenovo kept parts and she said yes but that this part was not in stock.  I asked her what the part was and she was able to find that it was the main system board that had to be replaced.  I said you have already had the unit for 1 week now at depot repair and never mind the fact that I have been without my computer for 2.5 weeks.  She told me that there was nothing she could do and that I had to wait on the part.  That is where this case sits at present.
I am very very unimpressed with Lenovo’s service.  And furthermore there is no one to talk to about it at Lenovo who gives a care.  I really did not know where to air my grievances with how this case is being handled.  I thought maybe the forum would be a place.  At least others will learn of my dilemma and maybe others have experienced the same thing.
I still like my ThinkPad but the service of Lenovo has become very poor at best.  The guy that is my technical manager has had a poor experience of late ordering up some other Lenovo products and he does not want to purchase anymore and these were for new product.  They sent the laptop with the wrong software loaded and then said no problem we will send you a new set of disks to load.  He refused and said you have to fix this because it was Lenovo’s mistake.  It takes time to load software and time is money.  I believe we will be leaving the Lenovo field if things continue.  I hope and trust that others will not experience the same treatment as I/we have.  I wonder if Lenovo will even respond to this post.

I had a real problem with wireless performance on multiple ThinkPads with Win7 until I realized there is a new (or maybe changed implementation) power setting in Win7 which was affecting it.
If you go into Control Panel -> Power Options and click "Change plan settings" for your current power plan.
On the next screen click on "Change advanced power settings"
On the next screen expand "Wireless Adapter Settings" and then "Power Saving Mode"
Make sure it is set to Maximum Performance.
Not sure if this will help your particular problem but hope it does.

  • Windows 64 bit cannot be installed

I Have MacBook Pro Retina display 13 inch dual-core i5 2.4GHz 8GB 256GB, When i'm installing windows 7 on Bootcamp show message error windows 64 bit cannot be installed i need to advise me a solution to this case ???? Mac OSX 10.9.1

Win 7 and 8 require a min of 20Gb but this assumes a minimum install and no other software.
If youre looking at adding other stuff then you need to increase it.
When you say youve selected a private space did you follow the correct proceedure to install by using the bootcamp assistant. Think about file format for the drive before you start as you have a couple of options.
NTFS are what is normally required by Windows but this will prevent you copying files too/from OSX
FAT will allow you to copy files between windows OSX
From memory I used FAT and then OSX/Windows converted it to NTFS during the process so I dont think you can ultimately use the drive from OSX unless you use a Virtual set up.
You may have set the drive up wrong ie set it up for 32bit or a wrong format for the 64bit windows system to use

  • Windows 8: Bit Locker encrypted drive "Access Denied" external drive

I rebuilt my computer and installed win 8.1 pro.  Now my external drive comes up as an empty drive with "Access denied".  Here is the kicker: I had turned off bitlocker on the external drive long ago as it interfered with automated backups.
    Running the commands suggested here:
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/738c1760-c96d-430f-9ae6-1f28f5c60998/windows-8-bit-locker-encrypted-drive-not-found-or-access-denied?forum=w8itprosecurity it shows the bitlocker but as unlocked.  Drive still shows empty.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Markus

Ahh, turns out to be permission issue not bitlocker (or maybe bitlocker caused it to lose permissions, don't know).
Opened MyPc, right click on drive ->properties->security->advanced and selected apply to all.

  • Can't install itunes on windows 64 bit system

I tried to install itunes on my 64 bit machine, but with verson 6.0.5, it says this software doesnt support 64 bit systems. I tried to install an earlier version i think its 6.0.4.2 not sure, but it does install on my computer. When I try to open the program and quicktime, I get error box saying the program had a problem and couldn't open. Is there anyway to fix this problem, and is there a way to have the newest version of itunes to work on windows 64 bit?
      Windows XP Pro

iTunes and QuickTime have never been supported on the 64-bit version of Windows (look here for the official statement). Some people have managed to get it working (at least tolerably), but from what I've read, a recent update from Microsoft has caused a lot of problems. You might try rolling back recent Windows updates and see if you can get things working again.

  • Limitations of Quicktime files (.mov and h.264) in Windows 64-bit.

It was recently brought to my attention (yes, I'm late to the party) that any file that requires the Apple Quicktime process for playback (decoding) is severely limiting my otherwise powerful system.  The Quicktime process is a 32-bit process, which limits your editing functionality to 4GB of RAM—even if you have 32GB or more installed!
I'm starting this new thread because the thread on which this was brought to my attention wasn't directly related to these issues.
A few of my questions:  Why do so many cameras create .MOV or .MP4 files that require QuickTime components?  64-bit QuickTime X has aparently been available on the Mac for quite a while, yet I presume they won't allow anyone else to develop a 64-bit codec for Windows, so why hasn't someone sued Apple for monopoly, anti-trust, conflict-of-interest, etc?  And most importantly, in a world where DSLRs and off-board ProRes recorders abound, are Windows users really stuck with no option but to transcode the footage before heavy use in Premiere?  The Atomos recorders provide the option of using DNxHD, however, if I understand correctly, that codec still requires Quicktime (I've not tested this bit).  Is there a matrix available that shows camera / recorded format / requires quicktime / 8- or 10-bit / 4:2:0 or 4:2:2, etc?
To my fellow Windows 64-bit editors, how do you keep your sanity when editing "natively" in Premiere .MOV, .MP4, ProRes or DNxHD with the 4GB RAM limitation?  And what camera / off-board recorder do you prefer to avoid both a long transcoding session AND get right to work with native 64-bit codecs?
    Thanks in advance!

Just now.  Yet, it seems to contradict my own findings.  The article says:  "In the case of Canon DSLR files, there’s something in the file header. Premiere Pro can recognize that the clips came from a Canon camera, and bypass QuickTime. This enables Premiere Pro to have smooth playback of DSLR files..."
The test I conducted was between files from a Canon 7D in their original format vs. an AVI file I transcoded from those originals using GoPro Studio (formerly Cineform).  I load up a project and timeline with the original 7D files and then scrub the heck out of the timeline, back and forth.  I have Task Manager open in order to monitor my RAM usage.  I simply could not get past roughly 4GB.  Once I deleted all the original .MOV files from the project, retaining only the transcoded .AVIs, the project cut like butter.  The harder I scrubbed the timeline, the higher my RAM usage soared until it gradually, and gracefully came close to maxing out.  Lol.  Is there a better test I should run?
The other test I ran was a project where I took a single talking head clip of approximately 5 minutes in length.  Nothing too taxing for the hard drive, and something that *should* be easy enough to play completely from RAM, once it played through once or twice.  I cut this clip and staggered a few tracks on top of eachother.  No effects, no transparency.  The cumulative effect was a cuts-only edit, but on the timeline my tracks looked like stairs, etc (perhaps the stairs weren't necessary).  The primary goal here was to watch how the system performed with a simple cuts-only project where Peremiere was repeatedly asked to access the same file from random locations in the file.   The .AVI version of this project, again, played flawlessly.  The .MOV version played even worse than I was expecting, since cuts-only 7D footage is usually not SO hard on the system (even if it is limited to 4GB RAM).  The .MOV project couldn't keep up.  Period.  As soon as the file needed to "jump back" on itself, the refresh rate became intolerable.
So is the 7D an exception to the rule stated in that article?  It definitely seems to be limited to 4GB of RAM!  If it isn't, why am I seeing this?
Also, is it possible that the footage from the 7D may not *REQUIRE* Quicktime to decode, but since Quicktime is found on my system, the 7D files default to using it anyway?
I've not tested my GoPro footage so thoroughly, but I believe it's limited in the same way.  After a transcode to AVI in GoPro Studio, even 2.7K footage plays slick as a whistle.  Not so when I don't transcode.
    Further thoughts?

    Hi,
    I've 2 nodes with version 9.2.0.1
I applied a Patch Set Release 2 (9.2.0.8) Patch Set 7 for Microsoft Windows (32-Bit) on the Node 2,
All is fine but when i try to discover N2 from N1 with OMS, i get only the HTTP Servers, and no database discovred,
For your information, I've 2 databases on N2
Please help me to resolve this probleme because i need to schedule some jobs.
    Regards.

Check where you installed the 9.2.0.8 patch, in the database home or Enterprise Manager Agent's home?
Check the compatibility between the versions of agent, database and OEM.
Try to reinstall the (correct version) agent again in Node 1.
If you have 2 database on Node 2, if they both uses the same Oracle database version and same home, you need to install the patch only once, but got to run the upgrade and catpatch.sql seperately in each databases.
    Hope it helps,

Try making a direct desktop icon for the Editor and see if you can launch the program directly from the desktop.
Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New à Shortcut
    Browse to Computer OS C:
And find the PSE Editor application in Program Files or Program Files (x86) on Windows 7 - 64 bit.
    C: à Program Files à Adobe à Photoshop Elements 9
Within the Photoshop elements 9 folder find PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe (with the blue icon)
Select that file and click Next.
    Then click Finish.

  • Do you have Fire fox for windows 64 bit operating systems?

apparently some downloads look for windows 64 bit browsers which this one is load into programs (x86) 32 bit compatibility folder, could you guys create one that will load into the 64 bit folder? (like explorer)

There are no Win64 release builds yet and may not be for at least the first half of 2013.
Those unstable Nightly test builds mentioned above are not officially supported (tier 2 when most are tier 1) as they are more to catch breakage as it is possible to break Win64 without breaking Win32.
In fact the today win64 build of 20.0a1 is crash prone (will not stay open for more than a few seconds) to show it is a use at your own risk.

  • Installing Windows Pro upgrade

I read that to install windows in boot camp you need a FULL version. My Home addition doe not have SP2 so I can't install that and then upgrade. When I put the upgrade disk in it asked for the Home addition disk. Once it recognized it, it continued with the Windows Pro install. However, things did not work right. Should I try it again or just bite the bullet and purchase an full version of Windows Pro?
    Thanks
    Phil

    Twin Daddy:
I am assuming that you have the full version of the Home Edition without SP2. If that is the case then you may be in luck. There is a way to "Slipstream" your home edition and the service pack 2 on a single bootable CD. Once this is done then you can install windows XP home edition and then use your upgrade CD to upgrade it to PRO.
Read the forums on "Slipstreaming" and the procedure is listed [HERE|http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/winxp-sp2-bootcd.html].
Let me know how it goes.

  • Error numbers are 2502 and 2503 for installing iTunes for Windows 64 bits. How to fix?

    Hey guys,
I cannot install iTunes (latest vision) on my new laptop (Windows 64 bits), and it says that the error numbers are 2502 and 2503...
Can someone tell me how to fix this?
    Thank you!

Check your system date & time is correct.
Run the System File Checker: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
If you still have problems try a creating a new user account with administrator rights, log into it, and attempt the install from there.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Windows Pro upgrade with Hyper-V for Windows App development

    Hi
I am just starting to develop my first windows phone app. I dowloaded Visual studio 2013 express on my windows 8 machine. I started to follow the Microsoft Virtual Academy, Develop Windows phone apps for Beginners with Bob Tabor.
Anyway, when i try to run the Emulator, it tells me i need Hyper-V which my version of windows doesn't have. Apparently i need Windows Professional. Anyway, this costs about £100 to upgrade. Also, for the emulator i am told i need 4gb of RAM.
Question 1: My laptop is an i5, 64bit machine, windows 8.1 normal edition, with 4gb of RAM. It says of which 3.88gb of ram is usable. Whatever that means?
The minimum requirement for the emulator is 4gb, will it work on my machine which apparently has 3.88 ?
Question 2: I already own a nokia windows 8.1 phone. A basic enough model. Instead of buying the upgrade for windows pro, is it a big hassle to run my test apps on that phone? How difficult is it to run a test build of an app on my phone? Can i run it via
the inside of visual studio? Or do i need to go to file explorer, copy and paste files over to the phone, disconnect it from the laptop etc. How many steps are involved? If its a load of hassle i might be safer to just bite the bullet and buy the Windows pro
    upgrade.
(although i am aware the emulator can't test some things that the actual phone can..eg near field communication etc.)
    Any advice?
    Regards
    Conor

It's not that big of a hassle to debug your app by deploying it on your phone. It's just a matter of choosing Device instead of Emulator when you start debugging in VS.
Some of the downsides are that your phone's screen must be on and not showing the lock screen, and the fact that you can only have a maximum of 2 apps installed on your phone for debugging purposes. If you start developing and debugging a third app, then
you must first uninstall one of the other 2 apps to be able to deploy the third app to your phone. To my knowledge the emulator does not have such a limit. I believe there's a paid developer account option available somewhere if you want to raise the limit
    beyond 2 apps.
Other than that, being tied to a single resolution as Dave mentioned is another downside to using a device.
