Windows 8 Pro Final (9200) BitLocker in UEFI mode not working, Element not found

Hi,
with the latest bios (either 1.37a (for Windows 8 Beta Driver test (June 2012) or 1.39 (Current) of the W520 and final release of Windows 8 Pro (Build 9200) BitLocker comes up with "Element not found" when trying to activate for the system drive in UEFI only mode.
In a new legacy only mode installation BitLocker works fine.
In both cases all devices in device manager are recognized. TPM 1.2 is active and working with e.g. the client security solution and fingerprint software.
I thought the UEFI / BitLocker issues have already been solved?!
Is there still an issue with the UEFI only mode of the W520?
Any thoughts or a bios update within sight?
Thx in advance,
nasenbaer
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Haven't heard of this issue with Win8.  The issue with Win7/UEFI/bitlocker from last year is definitely solved.
Does this link help?
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/11518.cannot-turn-on-or-resume-bitlocker-...
EDIT:  I tried this just now with Win8 Pro on T420 (same BIOS code base as W520) in UEFI mode.  And bitlocker works fine.  So I'm sure what problem is happening on your W520.

  • Bridge CS3 (Windows XP) fails to start because Symlib.dll was not found

Bridge CS3 (Windows XP) fails to start because Symlib.dll was not found? How do I fix this? I've re-installed and the auto updater has run...I even downloaded and ran the patcher application? By the way Bridge CS3 doesn't show up in the CS3 program list in the start menu but it is installed in my program files - I've tried launching it directly from there as well. Bridge CS2 is operating just fine.
Update: I installed and ran the Adobe Support Advisor, resulting in - Issues: "The module found no solutions to report for the selected log file."
I tried to package the report and the error read: "The size of the package is too large to be handled with the current configuration! Please contact Adobe Support for additional information."
I opened a web based report/case number at the Adobe Support Portal about the missing Symlib.dll (including the Adobe Support Advisor error). Their response was: We regret to inform you that complimentary support for your product is not available and/or has expired.

Did Bridge work before? If so, reset preferences by holding down the Ctrl key when starting Bridge. If successful you will get a Reset Window, choose all 3 options.

  • Windows 8 Pro (final edition) on a Mac

    Hello,
I have Windows 7 Ultimate installed on my iMac via Boot Camp and I want to buy Windows 8 Pro ,as a digital copy, from the Microsoft's site. How can I upgrade from Windows 7? Is it possible to do it right from Windows or will I have to erase the Boot Camp partition and install Windows 8 again? Thank you in advance.

YES!!! anything that has to do with your bootcamp side of your mac will not affect your mac side at all, unless you were to use a full windows installation disc and choose format and then would happen to choose the wrong partition instead of the one labveled bootcamp. Then of course you would wipe all the data on your mac side. But since you say you already have windows insatlled on your mac,and obviously at least lion on your mac side, then you have like a 1% chance of losing any data on your mac side, especially from simply upgrading your windows side software.I have 2 imacs both with mountain lion insatlled and windows 7 64 bit running with bootcamp 4.0 drivers installed. I have been through it all when it comes to installing, resotring windows all versions on my imacs and have learned quite a bit about computers throughout my lifetime. I actually repair them for all my employess and friwends free of charge. I would highly recommend if you havent dne it already is to A,make a fresh time machine backup of your mac side just in case you would ever need to restore it, and B. Use winclone software to make routine backups of your windows partitions in case you will ever need to restore your windows side. Also use the built in system restore feature in windows 7,since its much quicker to do a system restore on the windows side vs a winclone restore on the mac side, however both work well and will eliminate your worries about overwriteing or losing any data on either partition you have installed. Winclone costs only $19.99 and works perfectly everytime.

  • TS1538 I upgraded to Windows 8 Pro and now my ipod touch is not recognized in itunes

When I upgraded to Windows 8 Pro my ipod touch is no longer recognized in itunes.  I tries reinstalling itunes with no luck.  The device is registered id device manager as a camera?

It is normal and expected for the iPod to be seen as a camera as well as appear in iTunes.
    For the iTunes problem try:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
I would start by removing and reinstalling all the Apple software using:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

  • How do I install photoshop 3.0 onto windows 7 pro? Error message says it's not compatible. I'm upgrading from Windows XP.

I have to start with my first photoshop to upgrade to my latest version, but I can't because of incompatibility issues.  Is there a way around this?  Is there something that I need to change in windows 7 pro to accept photoshop 3.0?

Unfortunately, I'm talking about the Photoshop 3.0 from 20 years ago.  I bought it during the "big hair" years, while I was still a toddler.  I think that my Windows 7 Pro is x86.  I do remember seeing something about 32-bit in the error message.  Does this mean that I'm screwed and won't be able to transfer my Photoshop program from my old pc to my new pc?

  • After Windows 10 Pro N succesfull update all Network Adapters not working and not showing up

Hi all, After succesfully installing the new Windows 10 Pro N onto my Windows 8.1 Pro N operating system and restarting the system, I realized that all drivers are migrated succesfully, withouht any incompatibility issue, but none of the network adapters were working, so no WiFi, no LAN connection was ready to be used, checking the list of available network adapters showed an empty list. I am using a ThinkPad T520 laptop. I have tried to update all drivers from a USB, had several restarts, but no result. Any ideas I could use to get Windows 10 up-n-running with network connections? Thank you in advance, Regards, Gyula

  • When starting up my computer, I get a window that says - apple sync notifier.exe - entry point not found.  how can i get rid of this window?

When I start up my computer,  I get a window that pops up that says  *  AppleSyncNotifier.exe - entry point not found.  it also says    the procedure entry point xmltextreadername could not be located in the dynamic link library libxml2 .dll.   .  What does this mean and how can I get rid of it?

With Windows Explorer, navigate to your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support folder.
Copy the SQLite3.dll that you should find there, navigate to the nearby Mobile Device Support folder, and Paste it in there also.
Restart the programme all should be well
In case that your OS is (64 bit)
    1. Open windows explorer, go to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    2. Copy file "SQLite3.dll"
    3. Now paste it in the folder  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
    4. Restart the programme, it should not display that message, it should be clear.
    Good Luck

Suddenly the system now recognises that the monitor has a 5-touch input and the installation is running.
    Not sure what solved it:
    - Had Windows check for a frech driver (it was up-to-date)
    - Fiddled around a little in Paint just to see if 5-touch input is working
    - Activated a second display (not touchscreen)
I then looked at the System information screen again, and the number of tocuh point appeared correctly

  • GB 5.1 on MB Pro 2.5Ghz Intel DC - Audio files not found!

    Please can somebody help!!
I have recently lost all my recorded parts; the loops and software instrument parts are still present.
The songs still shows where the parts were recorded, but there is no waveform.
When I start up GB, it says that certain files were not found and gives the option  to search or skip. It never finds the file.

You have to install the MUI files as well... for English:
    dism /image:C:\boot\macrium\mount /add-package /packagepath:"C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\Assessment and Deployment Kit\Windows Preinstallation Environment\amd64\WinPE_OCs\en-US\WinPE-SecureStartup_en-us.cab"
This applies to any package that installs executables, it'll have a seperate MUI package that has to be installed or you get a non-sense error about memory that can't be read. Also, MS thanks for the wonderful error message, really went the extra mile to
    throw everyone under the bus.

  • [SOLVED] Having trouble dual booting Windows: normal.mod not found

Hello every one, I'm a Gentoo user who wants to try something different. So I thought I'd install Arch on my new laptop.
Anyhow, this is my first proper UEFI install on real hardware. So I might be doing something stupid here, but I've searched all over the forums and the internet and can't seem to find anything similar about it. So please excuse me if there is already a similar or very similar topic
Since I'm new to Arch I followed the Beginner's guide. Everything went fine, install was very quick compared to Gentoo phew... anyhow there came the tricky part, the bootloader install, as I am a real total noob with EFI. I followed the instructions carefully.
The result is: I now have 4 entries in my GRUB menu, 2 are Arch and its fallback, one is Windows 8 detected by osprober, and one is my custom Windows 8 with the usual chain loading setup that i've always used (with some fixes found on the 'net). Arch boots fine, but Windows doesn't; I get booted down to the recovery console, with an error that GRUB cannot find /boot/grub/x86_64-efi/normal.mod. Even though the file is of course existing. I tried to "insmod part_gpt" and others, and it couldn't find any of them, except part_msdos. Yeah I know, it's weird. Unfortunately I need to use Windows sometimes for some programs like Guitar Rig which need a good native audio connection.
My opinion is that there must be some place where the paths are not correct. But I keep looking at the config files and I can't find anything wrong with them...
The system had a Linux Mint 14 install on it previously but it bricked itself while updating to Mint 15. And I only really had Mint on there because of the automatic bootloader setup. Which worked well up to when I got rid of Mint (it was on /dev/sda8, where Arch is now). I hope it doesn't complicate the matter.
My EFI system partition is /dev/sda2. There are so many partitions because it's a Samsung laptop and there's a partition for samsung recovery, one for windows 8 recovery, and so on... The only "real" partitions are /dev/sda2 for EFI, /dev/sda4 for Windows, and /dev/sda8 for Arch.
Here are some command outputs to show you what my system is like. I hope they are helpful. If there's anything missing I shall supplement it of course!
    Thanks in advance

    Hello cfr,
    Thanks for your reply!
Yes, I had /dev/sda2, my EFI partition, mounted at /boot when I did grub-install and grub-mkconfig. I also had the efivars filesystem unmounted, and ran rmmod plus modprobe on efivars as written.
    umount /sys/firmware/efi/efivars
    # modprobe -r efivars
    # modprobe efivars
My command was exactly the same as the beginner's guide, and it was
    grub-install --efi-directory=/boot --bootloader-id=arch_grub --recheck
Now looking at that command, I am wondering, should it have been "--efi-directory=/boot/EFI" or something similar like that? But the fact that Arch boots and runs fine kind of shows the bootloader did indeed install correctly... Or partially at least.
Maybe an ls -l of some of my /boot directories might be useful. Thanks!

  • Using Boot Camp to Install Windows 7.  Keep getting error message "Installer Disk Not Found"

I'm partially throught the Boot Camp set-up process and keep getting the same error message when trying to install Windows.  The disk is in the drive, not sure why it's not recognizing it.

I had this problem on my brand-new Mac Pro, but fixed it in my case by burning another copy of the installer disc (from the official download image, not a pirate copy lol) at a SLOWER speed, rather than allowing it to burn at the "maximum possible" setting. This gives the laser more time to properly record, but it didn't perceptually increase the time it took to burn the disc.
I speculate that error-checking is too stringent, but weak; that is, not intelligent enough to correct any read errors. Of course, Apple's test configurations are likely using commercially-produced off-the-shelf discs rather than burned from downloads or they know to never use max speed out of habit.
