Windows 8 problems in Lenovo G475

Hi there! I own currently a G475 laptop, that previously ran Windows 7 Home Basic, but now runs Windows 8 Pro. Here is my situation, I have 2 problems.
1) I cannot change the brightness on my computer, I tried a cmd scan as administrator, no luck. Tried Lenovo Energy Management software for Win 7 and 8 version, no luck either. The brightness is stuck in the lowest settings, and I don't know what to do...
2)Onekey Recovery doesn't work either, it says it cannot start and that I need to reinstall the driver... Even though it is installed in C drive, with it's Lenovo partion of like 25 gb... And the Nova button doesn't boot into the OKR menu, it boots straight up to Win 8.. I already tried to reinstall it, but no luck either...
Honestly, I love Windows 8, but these 2 bugs make me frusterated!!!! Please! I am seriously thinking about reverting back to Windows 7, but I need Onekey recovery to revert to Factory settings, since I still have the hidden folder with the factory image in it.
Any opinions???
(P.S: The hotkeys don't work with the Windows 8 version of Energy Management...) Will I need to reinstall my Windows 8?

Can you try the following:
1. Install the latest ATI drivers and adjust the brightness and contrast using ATI’s Catalyst Control Center. If this doesn't work, can you try to immediately press Fn+Up Arrow to increase the brightness before the unit boots into Windows 8.
2. The One Key Recovery button and the OKR feature will no longer work if you upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 - see this Windows 8 Upgrade Guide by Lenovo
If you're thinking of restoring back to Windows 7 but the OKR button doesn't work and you didn't create a recovery disc using this method then you will need to contact lenovo on how to obtain a copy of the recovery disc.

Hola, Yo tengo el mismo problema, tengo una G475 y mi tarejta de red WIFI es la RTL8192DE apenas hace unos días actualicé a Windows 10 y no funciona el controlador, ingresé al panel de control/adminitrador de dispositivos y traté de actualizar pero dice el sistema que cuenta con el controlador más actual y aún así no funciona, así mismo ingresé a la página de Realtek para buscarlo (http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PFid=53&Level=5&Conn=4&ProdID=309&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true) y no tiene una nueva versión. ¿Alguien puede por favor compartir el driver para descargarlo? No, you won't lose warranty if you install Windows XP on your notebook. But do make sure you burn a set of factory default settings through OneKey recovery: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?DocID=HT051302

Windows 7 RTM, Lenovo Y 550 explorer problem?

I just installed the Windows 7 RTM onto my Lenovo y550 and successfully installed every driver. When I open up any window or program and minimize it, I cannot click on any icon or the desktop. If I click Show Desktop at the bottom right, I can then interact with any icon and the desktop just fine.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the graphics card driver but it did not resolve it. I also noted that with the graphics card driver uninstalled, the problem is still present. I reinstalled the chipset driver and reinstalled the graphics card driver again but to no avail.
If you end the explorer.exe process and then restart it, the problem is still there.
Any help would be appreciated!

Just wanted to update for anyone that might run into this problem; the Lenovo OneKey Theatre was the problem. After disabling the program out of Msconfig, the problem went away.

Hello everyone!
I am using Lenovo G460, i guess it is not that different from G560 for the purposes of this discussion.
I had the same problem with a blue screen. I changed settings in BIOS from AHCI to Compatible and installed XP. After that I updated BIOS from within the XP, installed all the drivers, including the AHCI driver from Lenovo website.
Then, I go back to BIOS and change settings from Compatible to AHCI, and I get the blue screen again.
Ok, i don't know anything about NCQ and hot swapping, which I read about on wikipedia, and which i suppose are supported by AHCI, but my question is:
Should i now always stay with my settings as Compatible in BIOS and, therefore, never be able to use such features as NCQ and hot swapping? I repeat, that I don't know anything about AHCI or Compatible mode, but I figure that AHCI is better.
Please help me in finding the answer, whether to stay on Compatible and forget about AHCI, or may be there is some way to solve the problem for XP users with AHCI mode.

Hi,
You are getting the error because the printer name is greater than 40 characters.
The SAPLPD can only recognize printer names with 40 characters or less.
From the log, i believe you are using the printer BKC_7THFLR_HPCOLOR3800 ON THMUMGDCPS01 (FROM BKCDT1017) IN SESSION 11
but the SAPLPD is recognizing only till BKC_7thFlr_HPColor3800 on THMUMGDCPS01.
Try to change the printer name .. it will work

Strange problem with Lenovo S650

I have an interesting problem with Lenovo S650.
If it stay in 2G/3G mode - it connect and work in 3G network well. But if I put "only 3G" mode, it don't connect to the 3G network.
I changed SIM-cards, modems, firmware, mobile operators - Nothing change.
What is the problem? Thank you.

Because your network needs both 2G and 3G to establish an internet connection. When the signal is low ,3G is favored/preferred (WCDMA Preferred or Auto )...but that uses more power. Don't actually need 3G all the time.
This isn't the root of your problem ...Actually isn't a problem at all .
Now can you tell me your firmware build number(Settings>About phone.. ) ?
Did you had this problem from day 1?
Did you get the phone from China and flashed the ROW firmware yourself? Got the firmware from some Russian forum and changed some regional code at the first boot...by any chance?
Beside flashing different baseband modems, have made other alterations (Like changing engineering mode settings... )

Apparently our Sandbox system didn't have a Spool server configured. That's why the error. It works perfectly in other systems.
The output device's Host Printer must be defined on the spool server for saplpd to recognize. Otherwise you see an error.

Nested Window Problem

Hopefully someone out there can help solve this one.
How do you get a child window to automatically resize within a parent
window?
On their own both the child window and the parent window behave as
expected but once we attempt to load the child window into the parent
window the child window is sized to some unknown but excessively large
size.
Can this be solved with some creative use of parent size relationships
or do we have to programmatically size the child window?
Any help/comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You may need to dynamically tell the child window what its parent is (such
as a named grid that exists on the parent window). Setting the child
window to size to its parent should work once the child window knows who
its parent is. You should be able to put your window into that grid at
specified row and column coordinates. To reset the parent and position a

I believe that you should be able to do the same thing for a window, too

Running Worldcraft with Wine (or OpenGL in child window problem)

Hi!, I'm trying to run Worldcraft (the Half life map editing tool) with wine (version 0.9.30), everything works fine except when I choose to display a 3D view on one of the viewports (3D views uses OpenGL to render the scene), when I do this, the whole window turns black, and flickers (showing some portion of the original window) when I hit the mouse button of move the window.
This seems to be the Opengl in child window problem that was supposedly fixed in wine 0.9.28, but, well.. it happens This happens also with Lightwave 8.0.
Can anyone try and see if this happens to you as well? or.. well. does anybody knows how to fix it?

Failure to search - query window problem

Hello again,
Have anyone of you came across a problem with SAP search mechanism in query window attached to document field? I've created a simple query of "Select acctcode,acctname from OACT where acctcode like '2%' and postable='Y' order by acctcode" and attached it to one of document fields (doesn't matter which one). When I run this query a usual window poped up with a search field on the top, but when I typed "2" in it, selection bar moved right into first 231 account ignoring any of the lesser numbers. There is more - when I changed query to search for '5%' like accounts, I gained the same result - accounts less than 530 were ignored even if I typed "50" or "51". BUT - when I changed query sort order to "desc", all account became "findable".
I got this problem in one database only which is SAP 8.8 PL10 version upgraded recently from 2007A one. I've checked with a newly created 8.8 and such problem hasn't occured.

[iPhoto] Assertion failure/Modal window problem

I've been trying to order prints through iPhoto (6.0.6) but when I hit the "Order prints" button nothing happens. I get the following error in the Console log. It seems as though iPhoto is trying to spawn a new window (which makes sense) and can't.
I've reinstalled iPhoto, rebooted, etc. but keep getting same problem.

"After a ran steps to fix the problem of Safari giving "localized string not found" messages, the "modal session requires modal window" problem went away.
