Windows 8 Recovery USB causes UEFI error: "Grub error: Can't find gpt 7" [FIXED]

Hello everyone,
Here is my situation. I had a dual boot setup on my toshiba S855D (Win 8/Ubuntu 12.10). After a few months my win 8 install was giving me strange errors. I decided to do a full reinstall using the recovery USB I made. (I had reinstalled once before) When I plugged in my USB after restarting the computer (in USB as first boot), I got the error: 'Grub error. Can't find gpt 7' If I tuned off UEFI, the computer could at least detect the USB but not do a reinstall. Thinking it was a Grub error I formatted the HD (using an ubuntu liveUSB). The problem persisted. I installed boot-repair on ubuntu and tried that, but no effect. I have tried to install an updated bios from the CD image in the bios zip, but it wouldn't execute the commands in the ini file. I even tried to install an old xp disk I had to see if I could install the bios update that way, but the windows install repeatedly froze.
Quick version: dual boot (win8/ubuntu)->try to reinstall win8, "error: Grub Error: Can't find gpt 7", when usb is attempted to be booted from. ->Wiped hdd, but problem persisted. -> tried many ways to fix, but nothing works.
I have been reading many forums for the past few days, and nothing looks to work. Any and all help would be really helpful.

I finally got it!
After much poking around the internet, I was finally able to identify my problem. My bootx64.efi in the EFI/Boot folder wasn't working. I found this out by putting UEFI shell on another usb and using that to test my *.uefi files. Thankfully, I had a backup of my EFI folder from my initial Ubuntu install. This had a backup made my ubuntu. (bkpbootx64.uefi) I ran the backup and the USB worked!
On another forum someone (Agent268) said this, which may help. I'm guessing you need to have a windows pe DVD/USB to make this work though.
"You should be able to use DISM to manually reimage this bad boy using the WIM or SWMs on that USB recovery flash drive."
Hope my research helps someone out there. Cheers to everyone who looked.

It has been discussed a few times, and is even available in the Apple support web site. Basically, you need to un-install all teh Apple software you have installed, then re-install it all. When you re-install, right click on theinstaller and select "Run as Administrator" to make sure it has The proper rights to complete the installation.

I've made sure a dozen times that my home page is set correctly, and when I hit the home button next to the search bar it works and takes me right to google BUT whenever i open a new tab i get the error that my page cannot load and the web url that it keeps trying to remember is in the error message:

of course the last dot is not the url anymore but the end of the sentence for the error message, but i don't ever use chrome ever on my laptop only my cell so what is going on????? help fix god please!!!!!!

Do you have the FastStart extension?

hi all,
I have a report which i need to burst in seven different reports wherein my delivery key is column "emp_id". Now when i schedule the report to burst then the report completes with a warning. I see that there are various delivery cycles for the report and for one of the cycles i get the following message
Error!! Can not find the delivery details for the delivery Id :
hence, what happens due to this is, even there are successful deliveries for other delivery ids but then i get only two rows of data in each of the seven bursted ouput xls files. wheareas the data runs in thousands of rows for each cycle.
Hence whats happening is, that due to error /warning in one of the delivery cycles other reports are also not showing data.
I am not sure whats causing the issue and why i am not getting complete bursted files out.

I guess, you are in 10.1.3.3.2 :),
in the latest release 10.1.3.4.1, there are more enhancement wrto bursting and performance i believe.
check th release notes

Recently I'm getting an error dialog box on my T530 when I boot it into my OEM installation of Windows 8. The window title bar is "Windows Script Host", and the error message is:
Error on boot: "Can not find script file "C:\ProgramData\Lenovo-20841.vbs".
I pulled up an old backup, and I do have that file, along with a number of other ones that are missing from that directory. I'm attaching a screenshot of the files that are missing. Not sure why they would have been deleted (I know I didn't do it manually). Should I just restore the file? What about the other ones?

Does anyone know how I can get this file? or recreate it?
I get a similar message saying that it can't find the file c:\programdata\Lenovo-11472.vbs
Also, my wireless just randomly resets - sometimes very few minutes - after I've been using the system for a while. It's brand new and I can't figure out what's going on. Could this be the issue?
When I restart, it stays stable for a while and then starts acting up again.

Error message, "safari can't find server"

I installed the latest version of Flash Player and ever since then I have had several error messages - "safari can't find server". I tried uninstalling, then installing it directly from the website the next day, I also emptied cache and reset safari. No luck - any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Ok. Let's now create you a new location and see if that fixes it:
System Preferences > Network
In the Location section at the top of the window, click on the combo box and select Edit Locations...
Click on the plus sign and give your location a name (like Home), then Done
Now select Airport from the side bar, make sure Airport is turned On.
Set the correct network name
Now click on Advanced
Select the TCP/IP tab, Configure IPv4 as [Using DHCP], now click on Renew DHCP Lease and wait
After a few seconds you should get an IP address of 192.168.xx.xx and the Router field filled in.
Now go to the Proxies tab and select Auto Proxy Discovery, and use Passive Mode
Click on OK, make sure Airport is still select, then Apply
Fingers crossed! This should now work...

The server deploy EJB but I run EJB Client program,The error msg is can't find JNDI

I am using Weblogic 6.1/SP2. I use the console to start
server and deploy EJB jar,from the msg I see my EJB jar
been deployed. When I run EJB Client program, the error
msg is can't find JNDI name t3://URL:11003.....
I check my ejb-jar.xml amd weblogic-ejb-jar.xml are fine.
Last week I did deploy EJB and ran the client both
suceessful. Any ideas, Thank you.

Thank you for your help info, I soloved the problem.
The problem is the ejb jar was deleted(I don't why)
then System Admin to deploy EJB jar from Admin console.
After that everything is fine.

server log). What message did you see that leads you to believe itwas
successfully deployed? Also, verify the JNDI name you are lookingup in
your client matches the JNDI name for the EJB. If this doesn't solve

Do you run in a locale other than en?
I looked at the code and that string is in the right source/build files. So something is really strange here.
The other interesting question is, what did you try to do? Apparently there is some problem with the jdbc/Travel resource.

The BootCamp Drivers (or Windows Support Software) is on the OSX Snow Leopard 10.6 Installation DVD 1 that came with your MacBook.
Insert that disc after successful installation of Windows and while in Windows.

Dual boot windows 7+archlinux on separate disks; grub errors. [solved]

Hello,
I am very excited to try arch linux, but am having trouble with the
installation. My situation is as follows: I have 3 hard drives: windows 7
lives on sda and sdb. I am installing arch on sdc, which is 500GB.
I partitioned the hard drive as follows (which may look kind of ridiculous,
but please understand I am new at this):
sdc1 /boot 1GB ext2
sdc2 swap 8GB swap
sdc3 / 50GB ext3
sdc4 /home 400+GB ext3
After some initial issues, I managed to run the installation program
smoothly, performed the basic configuration, and then went to install grub. I
scrutinized the grub menu.lst file over and over, and could not find anything
wrong. It had the following entry for archlinux:
title: Arch Linux
root: (hd2,0)
kernel: /vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sdc3 ro
initrd: /kernel26.img
There is no entry for windows, as I can just use the BIOS boot menu to switch
between the two bootable hard disks, or at least that was my plan...
When I boot to windows, everything works just fine. When I go to the
BIOS boot menu and choose to boot from the third disk, I get the grub
bootloader with choices of arch and arch fallback, just as expected.
I select the former, and I get the following message from grub:
Booting 'Arch Linux'
root hd(2,0)
Filesystem type unknown, partition type 0x7
kernel /vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sdc3 ro
Error17: cannot mount selected partition
The same thing happens for the fallback image. I made very sure to install
grub to the mbr, /dev/sdc.
I have also tried to use the UUID entry for /root in the menu.lst file, and
this gives the exact same results. I have also run grub interactively from
the bootable CD image, and it does not give such errors- it knows that
hd(2,0) has type 82, and not 7. However, when I try the initrd command in
interactive grub, I get a complaint about the image not fitting in memory.
However, I have 16GB of ram...
One other note that may be (but probably is not) relevant: initially I could
not get the Arch disk to recognize the hard drive (the format disk phase of
installation would always fail), so from windows, I went to the disk manager
and formatted it with ntfs. This enabled me to format the disk from the arch
install process and install the new FS. I didn't think the temporary presence
of ntfs would be any kind of an issue since I immediately reformatted it.

It seems this is caused by the program file missing, reinstall the Adobe application would fix this issue.

I updated iTunes from the update message and now my Windows computer (at work- I use Mac at home) keeps sending me error messages about MobileMe and iTunes. It indicates a .dll error but I can't find any such file. I tried removing the entire ITunes app.

I downloaded an update to my iTunes app on my work Windows computer and now I am constantly getting error messages about MobileMe, when I download a webpage and marked slowness of my Outlook application. I tried removing iTunes and reloading directly from the Apple site, but no change. One of my peers is having the same issue and messages.
Any suggestions?

I just resolved this on Win Vista (should apply equally for Win7 too). Please uninstall iTunes before proceeding though. I'll walk you through the process I followed, if you like you can jump straight to the Solution section.
Problems:
The initial error during the installation of iTunes was:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKeyToken='1fc8b 3b9a1e18e3b",processorarchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x8007054F
The error (after installing iTunes) when trying to run iTunes was:
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. Error 2 (Windows error 2).
After trying various fixes around the forums I came across this MSKB article, which relates to the first installation error:

This lead me to trying to install MS Visual C++ but I received the following error trying to install that:

Note: The installation of VC++ rolls back when it fails.
Solution:
Through this error I found this MSKB article:

The Automated MS "Fix It" msi package didn’t work.
Note: Please backup your registry first (see the above MSKB article for instructions).
I opened the registry and (as instructed in the MSKB article) deleted the following keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\
PendingXmlIdentifier
NextQueueEntryIndex
AdvancedInstallersNeedResolving
Reboot and reinstall iTunes.
