Windows 8 Setup for RE1000

There is no RE1000 set up program available for Windows 8 yet. Please fix this.

Thanks and yes I did try that.  Again though I point to the part in my note that says "I was told to be patient, they are working on a fix".  Of course if that was wrong, it tells me more about Linksys than I ever wanted or needed to know.

  • DR setup for EP7 on Windows+Oracle

    Hi,
We are in the process of DR setup for our portal system based on NW2004s, Windows 2003 and Oracle 10.2.
We are thinking of using oracle standby database with log shipping to keep the portal databases in sync on the primary and DR site. We are planning to do the following.
    _Primary site:_
EP 7.0 installed on MSCS cluster
    _DR site:_
EP 7.0 created as a copy of Primary via sapinst, non-clustered. The database will be refreshed from the Primary site DR and will be put in standby mode. Log shipping & apply will be configured.
Now if any apps are applied via SDM on the Primary site, will that be replicated via log shipping on the DR site? What about .par files deployed on the Primary site? Any way to keep the OS level files in sync provided these do not contain the hostname?
Do you see any issue with this setup? Has anybody done something similar?
The only reason we want to keep the database in sync on both the sites is because our users are in the j2ee UME and the user information including password needs to be retained on the DR site. The UME can't be moved due to our infrastructure setup.
Is there any way we can keep the UME content, user details/password in sync between 2 j2ee systems? If there is a way, then we don't need to setup the standby database.
    Any help is welcome.
    regards,
    Mohan

    Hello,
We have installed DB/SCS on external disks which are part of the cluster resources. Oracle / SCS disks are replicated onto mirror disks by SRDF replication. So Oracle/SCS have no issues in a DR environment, although there is downtime while services are being started up on DR. The app servers connect to the DB/SCS using aliases , so we just the change the DNS of the alias to point to the DR server before restarting application servers. We have never had trouble with application deployed on production environment. They always reflect on DR.
However, because the DR application servers are installed as dialog instances of the same instance, we do not have access to CI (and hence SDM, VA, Config Tool) in a DR environment.  I wanted to know if there is a way to set up the Central Instance so that it is available in DR as well.
    thanks,
    Snigdha

  • VPN Client and Setup for RV042

Is there a definitive setup for a small VPN using the RV042?
Situation is 2 remote users wish to get access to a non server (W7P) pc to access files.
The end point doesn't have a static IP but I've put in a DYNDNS.org so it reports back the IP and I can access the router at least from outside.
I can setup VPN users but is there more to do?
Wish to use QVPN client or advise alternative.
    Appreciate all input.
    Thanks
    Bruce

    Bruce,
QuickVPN normally works well for what you wish to do. Make sure that the Windows Firewall is ON in Windows 7 and Windows Vista clients. Turn off all antivirus and third party firewall software as well at least until you have verified that you have a successful connection. It is very easy to set up, just create a username and password in the router. If you run into trouble, post here or call your local Small Business Support Center:

  • Office 2013 RMS Client Configuration - Your Machine is not setup for IRM

    Hi All,
I have successfully setup a test AD RMS farm but stuck at trying to configure Office 2013 to work with this. The farm configuration is as below
    DC: Windows 2003
AD RMS Server: Windows 2008/ SQL Server 2008 R2
Client: Windows 7 64 bit with Office 2013 32 bit, Domain Joined
Client is domain joined and SCP has been successfully registered ( I can see the SCP in AD RMS properties).
When I open word and select Protect Document -> Restrict Access, the only option is to Connect to RMS Server and get template, which eventually gives an error
Your Machine isn't setup for Information Rights Management (IRM). To set up IRM, sign in to office, open an existing IRM protected message or document, or contact your help desk.
Surprisingly, when I open a document protected by IRM (from a different machine), IRM is automatically configured for the user and starts working from that point. However any new domain user login into this client faces the same issue.
Can anyone help identify the required registry keys that need to be present for getting this working on the client.
    Thanks for your help

    Hi  Manoj,
To install Microsoft Deployment Agent, you must be a member of the Windows
Administrators security group on the computer where you will install it. You must also be a member of the
Release Manager role in Release Management.
From the log, the user you‘re using seems not in the local administrator group. Please make sure the corresponding users has the needed permissions to install the deployment agent. Please check this
page for more information about installation of deployment agent. If you have any other issues, please elaborate more details about your scenario.

  • Setup for Discoverer to have multiple sessions opening in different browser

What is the setup for Discoverer or Windows 6 browser to have multiple discoverer sessions opening in different browser windows at the same time in Discoverer 10g Plus?
We have implemented Discoverer 10g Plus just to be used as an extract tool. We have some workbooks retrieving 200,000 or more rows from an Oracle database. It is taking 30 to 45 minutes to download. Some users are able to open multiple sessions in different browsers to download more then one worksheet at the time, but we have other users who get an error message that they can only open one session at the time. What is the setup to allow users to open more than one Discoverer session?

  • Best setup for a non-Mac file server?

I have a dual xeon server, with a SATA RAID5 I want to use as a file server in a cross-platform environment.
*What I've tried and the issues...*
At first I considered using Windows 2003 (Win2k3) but Services for Macintosh (SFM) is an older version of AFP and thus only supports 31 character filenames. With all our Macs supporting SMB/Samba/CIFS and Apple touting that "Macs and PCs can co-exist harmoniously on the same network" I figured I would give that a try.
    SMB doesn't work.
Sure I can create a connection, but transferring files is a completely different story. I'm trying to backup application and system data, but companies such as Adobe and Apple have named some of their files with special characters that can't be transferred over SMB. I know NTFS doesn't support these characters, but I though a Linux box using SMB would work fine. It doesn't. It's the protocol which keeps me from transferring the data. I end up with the lovely error message of "You cannot copy some of these items to the destination because their names are too long or contain invalid characters for the destination..." (what's sad is, if you google for " because their names are too long or contain invalid characters for the destination" you only get 6 results.)
So I thought I would give NFS a try. Apple says "Viewed from Mac OS X, [connecting via NFS] is just like connecting to an Apple or Windows server." No. It's not. NFS shares don't even show up in the Finder's Network listing. There are also a pile of other hurdles which are only tackled by savvy, command-line using users.
So that leaves me with AFP. Win2k3 doesn't support filenames longer than 31 characters, and Win2k8 is dropping SFM altogether. Off to choose a *nix flavor, but that requires Netatalk. It hasn't been updated in years, it has many bad performance reviews... and most distros have removed it. I can download and install it. Oh, but that requires I get the kernel source files. Then I have to create an RPM an that's not working... now I'm several levels deep in trying to figure out how to get Netatalk working and I'm not even sure it will work.
*What's the best setup for a non-Mac file server?*
FreeNAS seems promising, but it's in alpha/beta and they have all sorts of warnings regarding potential data loss. Sure there's ExtremeZ-IP, but I really don't want to spend $675 do something Apple claims OS X can already do. I can put just about any non-Mac OS on this thing... what's the best way to set it up so it works?
    Thanks much.

Rick may be right because although i didnt think of it before i tend to have notoriuosly long classnames for my php classes and i have used samba on occasion (when rsync is out of the question for one reason or another) and never had a problem. I use kubuntu (feisty at the moment )with an ext3 filesystem. if i have a chance this evening ill give it a try and see what happens.
You could also possibly use FUSE to use an ssh filesystem for the shares... i don tknow how that would figure in your back up though.
Also if worse comes to worse you could tar or dmg the the necessary files... just some thoughts.
Ill be interested to know what you end up implementing....
OH one last thought... Compile Darwin from source and use that as your server

  • Update DISM in WinPE, Windows ADK for Windows 8.1 Update

Windows ADK for Windows 8.1 Update, creates WinPE with DISM version 6.3.9600.16384.
Latest build of Windows 8.1 Pro Build 9600, dated 22/11/2014, has DISM version 6.3.9600.17031.
Have run the Windows ADK setup again, but says NO Updates available.
Have created listings of all the DISM files in WinPE and Windows 8.1, but reluctant to copy files across, as I assume that registration / registry changes are also required.
Does anyone know how we can update the version of DISM in WinPE to 6.3.9600.17031?

  • Boot Camp Setup for Win Vista/7: "The short-short version"

This tip's dedicated to all those who want a detailed instruction manual, but for whatever reason don't want to read through Apple's Boot Camp Installation and Setup Guide @ http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp .  But before I copy this from the thread that started it, let's make clear what shouldn't work and thus should be avoided:
Per the Boot Camp Win 7 FAQ from Apple, no 2006 model will be supported for installation or upgrade, though many units would in fact meet the bare hardware requirements for 7.  Upgrading from Vista might work better, but there's absolutely no guarantee that all features will work.  Do not post a question asking for support of the unsupported.
For reasons known only to Apple, the 2007 models are not considered "64-bit pure" and as such, Apple will not allow 64-bit Windows on 2007 units.  Empirical evidence from around the Web--even here-- may suggest the contrary, but again, this is unsupported.
The 2010 lines are the last to support Vista in any form or fashion, excepting the late '10 Air, which falls to the final point...
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS SACRED: Do not post questions asking to support any version of Windows other than 7 on the 2011 lines thus far, or anything in future.  The only way to get Vista or prior on these things is through a VM emulator! We can help you set one up.
AHEM!  Now, on to the guide:
Make sure you have everything square on the Mac side first with software and firmware updates.  Launch Software Update and run it until nothing is left to update.
Now, it's on to the Boot Camp Assistant.  Launch this from/Applications/Utilities, and follow the prompts.  For the 2011 models, you'll get the chance to burn a dedicated software CD for the first time since the beta.  Use this in place of the install discs below.
Move your Windows partition slice so that you have, say, 50 GB for Windows.  This can actually be any size above 40 GB.  Windows 7 x86 needs about 20 GB during installation alone, though actual used space is much less once it's installed.  The same applies to the x64 version, but let's give that one, say, 60 GB or more as some files may be duplicated for the two different "architectures" in that version to run concurrently.  As to which architecture to choose, you need the 32-bit version for the '07's or if you have a nest of old hardware or software laying about; go with the 64-bit version if you have a newer Mac with scads of RAM or just want better performance out of what you have.
When you've apportioned your hard disk space, get your Windows DVD out and let Boot Camp start it.  If you missed this step, you can insert the DVD later and hold the C key as the Mac starts.
If your unit shipped with OS X 10.6, have your Install Discs handy.  If you upgraded from 10.5, then the 10.6 upgrade DVD will do.  We'll soon use either one.
During the Windows Setup process, you'll be asked to do an upgrade or custom install.  Choose Custom, which will take you to a partitioning screen.
On the partitioning screen, you must click Advanced and then select the volume tagged BOOTCAMP.
You will then have to click Format while the BOOTCAMP volume is highlighted.    Click Yes to confirm.  Wait for about a minute while NTFS structures are laid on this volume, and then hit Next.
Let the Setup program finish out the install, then add your Product Key and set up your Windows account. (Vista puts the Product Key prompt at Step 6 instead)
Since the soft-eject key at the top of your keyboard won't have a driver yet, you'll be removing the Windows disc as follows:
    Click Start, Computer.
    Select the DVD icon.
Click Eject in the upper toolbar of the Computer window.
Now, insert your Mac install disc (or 10.6 upgrade) and run the Setup file when prompted by AutoPlay.  This will start Boot Camp 3.0.  Follow the wizard through (there's only one option for Apple Software Update, so take it as you hit Next several times.).
From here, you may restart in Mac OS at points in this walkthrough.  To avoid this, hold the Option key to bring up a boot menu, then click Windows.
(TIP: You'll be working in Windows for a while, so you can hold Control as you click Windows in the boot menu, to make it "persistent". You can also switch back to Mac OS by the same when you are done.).
Back in Windows again, run Apple Software Update to pick up any and all fixes for your new Boot Camp package.  You could be doing this 2-3 times.  Repeat until no required updates remain.
Do the same for Windows Update as well. The tip above will save a finger or three.
Once all updates are in, add your favorite software, and you're done.
    Good luck installing Windows!
    Nate

    Hi all,
Here are the links for the latest 'important' drivers:

5b. Latest WLAN chip driver => Broadcom (4322AG chipset) Wireless LAN Driver for Microsoft Windows Vista 5.10.91.8 (14 May 2009) = sp43743.exe

NOTE: You will need to manually update the drivers in the windows device manager (select 4322AG chipset) because the installer doesn't overwrite the old drivers from Boot Camp

  • IMac 24" Bootcamp scrambled video Problem in Windows Setup.

I just got a new iMac 24" today and was wondering if anyone else's iMacs are exhibiting display problems in boot camp (see picture links below and description) while in the windows setup screen or other LOW RESOLUTION screen modes.
    http://disgruntleddesigner.com/imac.JPG
    http://disgruntleddesigner.com/imac2.JPG
    http://disgruntleddesigner.com/imac3.JPG
In low resolutions screen modes used by windows setup and the windows boot screen, the display is completely scrambled with moving pixel artifacts such as black vertical lines and misplaced color pixels all over the place.
The computer is a brand new 24" iMac 2.4 with all the latest OS updates. I called Apple's tech support and explained the situation and as soon as the tech rep heard the word bootcamp
he essentially turned his ears off. While I understand Apple doesn't support bootcamp I'm pretty sure this is a hardware/firmware issue and NOT a bootcamp thing.. but they suggest I write here instead of bothering them... so here's my plea for help.

Update.. I exchanged the computer for another at Best Buy and this one does NOT have this issue. I suspect it's a firmware or hardware thing after all.

  • Portege 600-Windows Setup experienced an unexpected error - Error Code: 0x0

    Hi,
During a Windows 7 upgrade I am getting the following error message. Windows Setup experienced an unexpected error - Error Code: 0x0.
Searching on web I've found recommendations for setting the DMA on the optical drive (can't), updating the bios (done), checked the media (DVD Toshiba supplied Windows 7 upgrade disk) all seems OK visually and turning off antivirus (AVG resident shield turned off). I still get the same error.
    Help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

On which step is this error message shown?
I have done this upgrade several times successfully and without error messages.
Have you followed instructions how to do upgrade to Win7 using second component CD that removes all non-compatible tools and utilities before Win7 upgrade installation?

  • Where to download and how to install X Window System for Oracle Linux 5 ?

    Folks,
Hello. I am using Oracle Linux 5 and Oracle Database 11g for PIA.
Before install Oracle DB 11g into Oracle Linux 5, we need to install X Window System according to the document page 2 http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/install.111/b32285.pdf
But I don't know where to download and how to install X Window System for Oracle Linux 5.
Can any folk provide a link to download X Window System and tutorial to install it for Oracle Linux 5 ?

You can address the problem in a number of different ways.
You can install X-windows from the installation DVD or setup access to the Oracle public software repository as described in http://public-yum.oracle.com. In which case, the command to install X-windows is: yum groupinstall "X Window System"
Or, you login remotely and and use SSH with X-forwarding, in which case the software on the server will use the X-Windows server on your client system. This is probably the preferred way since you do not have X-windows installed on the server. For more details about SSH forwarding and howto, please see Install Oracle 11gR2 on Ubuntu Linux 11.04 (64-bit) Howto part 2 Oracle Universal Installer.

  • Printer Setup for Aperture and Epson R1800

After installing the upgrade to 1.5, something went wrong with my printer setup for both my R1800 and my PictureMate Deluxe.
    I've done the following:
    Reset the printer system.
    Reinstalled the Drivers
Attempted to Print from Aperture using about 30 + combinations of settings.
I'm still getting colors that are off and overall dark photos.
    Best Setting appears to be
    Printer Settings
    Print Settings
Media Type: Premium Glossy Photo Paper
    Color: Color
Mode: Advanced (Photo, High Speed, Finest Detail, Off)
    Color Management
    Off (No Color Adjustment)
    ColorSync Profile: SPR1800 PrmGlsy Photo.icc
    Black Point Compensation = Checked
    Gamma 1.10
The resulting pictures appear to be about 1 f-stop or so underexposed and the colors are off (I'm color blind, so I can't say exactly how). I know that it is the setup of the printer settings. If I print the same pictures from Nikon Capture on my Windows computer, the print is perfect. I prefer to use Aperture for my photo work.
Epson doesn't have Aperture and doesn't understand all of the settings. The Apple Care support tech stated that he is not qualified to answer and said to call back when the Aperture team is working. I've got a ton of Christmas gifts to print out!
    Assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    -William

    william:
you don't state in your original posting whether or not you've calibrated your monitors, especially to a 2.2 Gamma. in order to get the most accurate screen->print matching you have to hardware calibrate your monitors. this is by far the single most significant improvement i've made in my workflow. prior to calibration my monitors were set to a gamma of 1.8 which is much brighter than 2.2 and this causes you to NOT correct your images with the additional exposure required for proper printing. my prints were always too dark prior to calibration.
the spyder 2 from color vision is an excellent choice.

Hi, this has worked for a few...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.7 & 10.8…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
    10.4 instructions...
Is that Interface dragged to the top of Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations.
    If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
    208.67.222.222
