Windows 8 slow on MBP Retina 15

i just got MBP retina 15 and installed windiws 7 pro on it via bootcamp and win was running smoothly. I then upgraded to windiws 8 pro and it stucks/freezes frequently like if i make a new folder or sometimes oopen ny location like c drive or my documents or my pictures it just stucks and waits and waits and then opens it. I then removed entire windiows and restored partition to mac os x and then installed windows 7 and upgraded to windows 8 but i am again having same problems ... its slow in response, not always but most of the time and the mouse pointer gets busy and busy and busy and finally opens the application .... from some other blogs i have tried this with on power and on battery but the result is same !! has anyone faced such an issue and how did it get solved ??

hi all, i have found a strange thing with this issue... i have tried thsi many times and now im sure that this happening because of this .... when i use windows 8 with power plugged in then the windows gets stuck repeatedly, the mouse curser hangs and after a minute or so it starts to work but it again happens after sometime.... when i remove power (MBP running on battery) windows 8 run smoothly without any delay !!!! i have tried this even now ... i was unable to type this as it gets stuck again and again and now i ve removed power supply and now its working fine ........... has anyone experienced same thing with MBP retina 15 ???

  • Installing Windows 8 on MBP Retina

How can I install windows 8 on my MacBook Pro Retina with 2.6 GHz intel core i7 ?

OS X 10.8.3 adds Windows 8 compatibility with Windows 8, so now you can install Windows 8.
First of all, open  > Software Update and install OS X 10.8.3. Make a backup before updating. This will update Boot Camp, adding Windows 8 support.
The rest of the steps are just the same as for Windows 7. Open Boot Camp Assistant and follow the steps. If you have Windows 8 on a disc, you have to buy an external optical drive and use it to install Windows on your computer. If you have Windows 8 on a ISO, Boot Camp Assistant will provide you help to create a bootable Windows USB drive.
If you want all the steps to install Windows, read > http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.8.pdf

  • Brightness buttons not working with Windows 7 on MBP Retina.

I've installed Windows 7 and everything else seems to be working fine except for the brightness buttons.  Any ideas?  If I need to download new drivers, would you please link me to them?  Thanks.

    Nevermind, fixed.

  • Windows 7 64bit, MBP Retina, Only system sounds through headphones

Like others I have been trawling through the support tickets but nothing seems to resolve the issue for me.
Running Win7 64bit, I plug in my headphones and play audio (FL Studio) and audio continues to play through my speakers and not my headphones.  Interestingly when I turn the brightness or sound up and down the incremental "pip" sounds ARE played through the headphones.  It's as though Windows doesn't know to route the sound from apps through the headphones.  A few nights ago, Youtube started playing through the headphones, I quickly started FL Studio but this still played through the speakers.
I have installed the latest Boot Camp drivers and the latest Cirrus Logic drivers CS4206B (AB40) but to no avail.
Any one made progress on this?
    Cheers

Hey Bill and thanks for your answer.
Without changing a thing (to my knowledge) Prem 9 is now starting up properly.
Well 5 out of 6 start ups have been successful!!
Not sure why this is, but project editing and manipulation all seem to working fine and have even exported an end product!!
I guess I'll just have to see how things go.
Thanks again for your suggestions and Happy New Year!!!!

Help!! I'm using a Mid 2012 MBP retina 2.3Ghz i7 with 8GB of ram 256SSD. for the past 2 years my write speeds has been consistently on 400MB/s and up via black magic test. but now it only have 100MB/s going down to 80MB/s. what should I do???? I have already cleaned and even restored my MBP still it's on 100MB/s. please help. I have to finish tasks on a timely manner.

No. This requires completely repartitioning the SSD. You can do that only by using the Network Recovery method or the method I outlined. My method preserves all your data and doesn't require doing a slow Network Recovery. But if you wish to do that instead. The purpose of the whole exercise is to "clean" the SSD of garbage collected during use that tends to cause the SSD to slow down as you've described.
Install OS X Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button. Set Zero Data - one-pass, click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer.

  • MBP retina slow Safari when connected to Buffalo

    Hi.
I am new to Mac world. I recenlty purchased MBP retina. As soon as I brought to home I connected to WIFI (broadcasted by Buffalo WZR-HP-G450H) and noticed very slow Safari despite uncompromized internet connection. It is always written Sending request at bottom left corner of the Chrome window (same in Safari).
I checked on Windows machine, ipad and and experienced instantanous page loading. I switched back to old TP-Link and got very fast page loading in Safari and Chrome as well. It is very frustrating because I need Buffalo for transfering HD videos wireleslly to my TV and cant use the old TP-link router.
So, could you tell me what is the problem that MBP retina' is very slow downloading pages on Buffalo but quick on old router? Am I destined to have slow brosing speed on Retina?
    Thanks for your help.

This isn't customer support - this is a user-to-user forum. You can contact Apple's customer support by calling the AppleCare phone number: find your country here - http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57.
I don't know anything about Buffalo routers - but it sounds as if the router is the problem, since your 'old' router works well.
    Sorry,

  • How can I install Windows 7 on a Retina MBP with no optical drive?

I'd like to install Windows 7 on a Retina MacBook Pro via Boot Camp.
However, the only distribution of Windows I'm aware of is on a physical disk.
My MBP doesn't have an optical drive. It can't read disks like that.
I'm hoping there's some kind of workaround here, because I'd hate to spend money on an external optical drive I'm only going to use once.
Does Microsoft offer a way to buy Windows 7 via a download?
If so, can I then copy the downloaded installer that onto an external USB hard drive and install from there?
Or is the only option to buy an external optical drive? (If that's the case, any guidance on which one to buy -- can I get away with a generic one or do I need to shell out $80 for Apple's "Superdrive?")
I actually have another Mac that does have an optical drive. Could that help me out somehow?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

You can follow the instructions here to copy your installation disc over to a USB jump drive: http://lifehacker.com/5347382/wintoflash-turns-your-windows-installation-dvd-int o-a-usb+based-installer

  • How do I create a bootable USB Drive to install Windows 7 on a MBP Retina

I'm trying to install Windows 7 on a MBP Retina.(I'm running Mountain Lion)  I followed BootCamp's directions to create a bootable copy of Windows on a USB Flash Drive.  When I go to install, Boot Camp creates the partition, but I get a Windows black screen that says that "there is no bootable drive - hit any key".  I have to force shut down, because hitting any key does nothing.  I tried the Bootcamp directions at least 3 times, but have been unable to get the USB Drive to start up the Install program.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Joe

Disconnect all external drives. Only have the the USB flash drive connected.

  • Running two displays from MBP Retina under windows

I'm looking at purchasing a MBP Retina 13".  I have two external monitors that can accept HDMI and DVI (neither can do displayport).  Some software that I run requires me to sometimes boot into windows.  Under windows 7, can I output a DVI signal from each of my thunderbolt ports?  Do I just need to run two mini-displayport to DVI adapters?  Or is not that simple?  (both external monitors are 1900x1080)

    Hi,
    read the documentation:
    http://www.oracle.com/pls/db112/to_pdf?pathname=install.112/e24169.pdf
and you will find multiple errors, you probably did.
Especially the part on preparing storage.

  • MBP Retina 15" Unused for 2 weeks now slow, unresponsive?

    Hi all,
Hoping someone can help. I've been away on vacaction for 2 weeks - before I left I shut down my MBP retina and left it in a drawer.
Upon returning today it booted up normally, then immediately

any chance it is trying to backup to a TimeMachine drive?  That can make things slow?  If it is the icon in the menu bar will be turning.
What about indexing the drive?  This would be indicated by the magnifying glass for Spotlight pulsing in the menu bar (very far right).

  • Windows 7 Bootmgr compressed on MBP Retina

I compressed my Bootcamp partition while using Windows 7 (idiot ).
Now I can't boot Windows 7 anymore, because of getting the "Bootmgr is compressed" error.
I have read that this can be easily fixed with the Windows 7 installation disc.
Unfortunately the MBP Retina doesn't have an optical drive. I did the Windows installation by using an USB stick.
My question is: How can I boot the Windows Repair environment from the USB Stick to get the Bootmgr fixed?
Can I also use the "Windows 7 repair disc" files, copied on a USB Stick, to get this fixed?
    Thanks for your help.

    No answer for this problem?

  • MBP retina slow HTTP

Hi, anyone else having problems with MBPr wifi interface for HHTP traffic?
I'm running mountain lion on a 16GB ram MBPr and the HHTP traffic is unbelievably slow. My internet connection is 16Mbit full duplex and ohter protocols as ICMP, RTP and SIP are OK (Skype works). Also, trying with Chrome, Safari or Firefox did not help me.
According to "Network Utilities", my signal-noise  rayio is around 23.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Tkm

I did a test on a fresh MBP retina.
At the very beginning, it shuts down in 2 seconds.
After I installed the antivirus software, McAfee VirusScan for Mac V9.1, it needs 20-22 seconds to shut down.
It seems that the antivirus software is making the final check when turns off.
I uninstalled the antivirus sofware. The time for shut down still remains similar. I guess there must be some residue profile left.
Then if I want to restore to 2-3 shut down time ,maybe I need to press command +R to reinstall.

  • MBP Retina Firmware Password Reset

I purchased a MBP Retina 13.3/2.5/8GB/128GB back in Nov 2012 and all was fine.
Last year I installed Orbicule Undercover software, in case it got lost & stolen and it recommended I set a Firmware Password, which I did and now I have forgotten that password.
I want to reset my MBP but without the firmware password I am completely locked out at the reset screen.
It works fine day to day, and I know the password to lock & unlock features or settings, etc.
It is running the latest operating System, Yosemite. I have had no trouble upgrading the OS System as they have been made available.
Many post say  to take the MBP to an Apple Store so they can reset it with a special CD/DVD, only my MBP has no optical drive.
Clearly it is out of warranty coverage, as I did not purchase the extended warranty.
I don't have the skills to take the thing apart, my past history with old window based laptops is not good! (Although I did have more parts left over when I was done)
Does anyone know if I schedule a Genius Bar appointment, if they can help me? And the approximate cost they would charge me??
I have my original receipt & packaging to show that it is mine, and not a stolen unit.
Any Advice or information on the above questions will be gratefully received!!!

You probably bought a Mac that was stolen. I sure hope a 2011 model, whether the Early version or the Late version (There was no MID 2011 model), would certainly sell for much more than $515. That should of been your first clue there was something up with this noteboook and the seller.
Apple can remove the firmware password but only for the rightful owner.
The best thing you can do is take back into an Apple store and ask them to look up the serial number to find the original owner, if possible, and see if there is any contact info for them and return that system to them. Yes you would still be out the $515 but you would be doinig the right thing. Do the right thing and the right thing happen.
