Problem in creating recovery media disks
I tried to create the recovery media and i am getting the message "Resources required by this application are already in use. Please retry after the other application completes". Can any one help me to solve this issue? I haven't created the recovery disk so far. Your help is much appreciated.
Solved!
Go to Solution.Been in touch with tech support about this. They said they'd call back to propose a solution but they didn't call, so after a few days I called back and found they'd closed the call and dispatched the recovery disks to me.
Just to add, my sister has an n200, its 8 months old, and has no problem creating the factory recovery media. But Its running version 4.0 of the rescue and recovery software, whereas I am running 4.21. Wondering if it was a problem with the latest version, I tried uninstalling version 4.21 on my new machine and installing the older version downloaded from the Lenovo site, but the RR app just plain wouldn't start at all.
It could be a problem with the latest release, so an update in the future could fix it. -

What's the problem; can I get this file? how do I copy it to computer?Your XP CD should be fine.
This will allow you to "build" a bootable device to start your computer with a "windows like" interface.
At that point, the purpose is not to install anything but to allow you to check if you disk is in a good shape (mostly partition table) and, if so, give you access to your files and back them up!
Regarding your vista installation, there is no chance you have an original vistal installation disk as the only option is to create recovery disks for that purpose as soon as you can...
About installing XP on your machine, that might be tricky as some drivers are not included in the XP boot sequence on the CD specially SATA drivers (at that time, most disk where IDE not SATA...) and your HDD might just be invisible to the installer.
If you really want to install XP instead of vista (smart move in my opinion) you may need to build a customized XP installation disk including SATA drivers.

Compaq Presario SR1330NX desktop. Black screen after restarting after recovery using disks
My Compaq presario SR1330NX desktop computer which has XP. Years ago I accidentally deleted the recovery partition. I ordered the recovery disks. I have done successful recoveries with them. Although it has been years. I did a recovery from disk. I dont think I did it correctly as it had been a while. Anyway, It never asked me for the 2nd disk, but it said the recovery was successful and to restart the computer. I thought that maybe it had made its own new recovery partition when using the disks before. So I restarted the computer and all I get is a black screen with compaq on it and some weird symbols in the left upper corner that look like
>triangle,Divide sign,Square,upside down t with a line under it,zero and a weird looking capital B".
And it does NOTHING. I put disks in it does nothing. This is the only screen that comes up and nothing else works. What did I do? and How can I fix this?Hello tinkyferret, The HP Recovery Restore disk set makes a new Recovery Partition when they are used to recover the system.
You might try the HP Recovery Restore procedure from the hard drive, if you have not, and see if it wil complete successfully.
Normally on a Compaq system, you press the F-10 key to enter the Recovery Restore utility.

Windows doesn't start anymore after re-adding disk
Im running OSX 10.8.3 on a mid 2012 Macbook Pro.
I tried to install Windows 8 Pro with bootcamp and initially i ran into the problem that the Win Setup did not accept the bootcamp partition for installation because it is not on the first disk of the system. I have a SSD (disk0) with MacOSX and a HDD (disk1) with some data which i partioned with bootcamp to also hold the bootcamp partition.
After some research i figured i have to temporarily detach the SSD from the system to allow Windows to install in the bootcamp partition. I did this and it worked perfectly. After making sure that Windows is installed correctly and booting without a problem i reattached the SSD and that is where things went bad.
Now when i choose windows as startup device i get the "No bootable device --- insert boot disk and press any key" error.
There is another very long thread in this forum which solves a similar problem (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4144252?start=0&tstart=0).
But in that case the problem was that someone added another partition on the same disk which lead to 5 partitions on one disk. That is not my problem since i have only 2 (4 counting the hidden ones).
That is why i am hesitating to do the heavy MBR tweaking suggested in the other thread. I think it is probably not necessary and i would mess it up for sure...

Windows dont loading after recovery is finished - SP M30
Hi,
I am trying to repair a Satellite Pro (M30).
I've run the recovery disk, but after the reboot
Windows fails to load. The cursor appears briefly,
but I am left with a blank screen. There is no
harddisk activity.
Any ideas?
thanks,
BrianHi
Well, does this problem occurs after the completely recovery procedure?
In my opinion this issue occurs because the HDD will be not recognized.
Please enter the BIOS and check the boot frequent and if the primary IDE settings are set to HDD. -
Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center - Problems with Activation
Hello.
I was one of those who tried Windows 8 early and got a Windows Media Center key for free.
Today through Dreamspark Premium I got a Windows 8.1 key.
I normally used my new Windows 8.1 key and Windows 8.1 were activated successfully and because I remembered I had a Windows Media Center into my e-mail archive folder I used it in "Add features to Windows 8".
Windows accepted the key, added Windows Media Center and rebooted.
After the reboot, Windows 8.1 got deactivated and it won't accept my genuine Windows 8.1 Pro key.
I do not wish to format my pc or re-install everything . I just want to activate my Windows 8.1.
I do not care about Windows Media Center, I just want to activate them with my genuine key.Hi,
Based on the current situation, I would like to suggest you to contact Microsoft Product Activation Center by telephone to verify the product key and activate your system.
To start the Product Activation Wizard, follow these steps:
1. At the Start screen, swipe in from the right side, or hover your mouse in the upper-right corner of the screen to display the charms menu.
2. Tap or click the Settings charm.
3. Tap or click Change PC Settings.
4. If your PC is not activated, PC Settings will provide instructions that are customized to your activation error. If telephone support can provide help for your error, tap or click the appropriate link, which may resemble one of the
following:
a. Activate
b. Activate by phone
c. Contact customer support for help
For the detail information, refer to the following link:

Dv6-2170eo windows update fails after recovery
I have a HP dv6-2170eo netbook with Windows 7 Home premium (64-bit). My origin hard drive (640GB) failed and I replaced it with 1TB hard drive. I used the recovery DVD's that I made when I bought the laptop and then reloaded Windows 7 on the new hard drive.
After reloading , Windows Update does not work.
This is the error I get:
Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer.
I can't even install Windows Defender or Microsoft Security Essential
Intel Chipset driver from 2009-06-04
My internet access is OK.
I have restarted my netbook and the error is the same.
I have reloaded Windows 7 and the error is the same
Please help me
HaggannI had the same problem with an HP G72. If you have an Intel Chipset, goto Intels website and download there "Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver" and install it. I had the exact same problems and this fixed them. For some unknown reason this driver is not available on HP's website. I just Googled the driver and it took me straight to Intels website where I downloaded it. Get the driver that you can run from within windows and not the one that runs from a floppy.
Good Luck, -
IMac does not start-up after recovery screen.
My iMac (late 2008), does not continue to start-up.
After switch-0n, I get a grey screen with Apple loge, a 'busy' indicator and a 'progress bar', which fills slowly.
When the 'progress bar' is completed, the iMac switch-off.
When started again, the same repeats it self.
Any keyboard combination does not work.
What can I do..?
Kind regards

Almere - NetherlandsHello Stephan
Start with booting up to the Recovery HD and then use Disk Utility to verify the hard drive. Check out the first article to go through those steps to sort you out. If for some reason that it checks out and you are still having issues booting up, then you will want to reinstall the operating system. I have provided the steps to reinstall OS X Mavericks, but the steps are the same for OS X Lion and Mountain Lion.
Also if you can somehow back up before you go through the troubleshooting to make sure that you have a safe copy of your date.

T40 missing or corrupted \windows\system file after recovery process
My T40 Thinkpad had a corrupt drive so I secured the recovery disks from IBM to rebuild the hard disk. The recovery process seemed to work well, but when completed and prompted to remove all disks and reboot, the system booted and failed before Windows XP loaded with an error message that the windows\system file was corrupt or missing. Any recommendations on how to succesfully recover? Thanks.
boot off the WinXP Disc and run a repair. Did it mention the boot.ini file being corrupt, or something else?

Don't start database after recovery
Hi all,
I use Oracle 9i Release 2 on Windows 2000
I use RMAN to backup and recovery database online to tape. I also backup all file contain database parameter in directories such as : C:\oracle\admin\*;C:\oracle\ora92\database\*; C:\oracle\ora92\network\admin\*.
Yesterday, my computer was down and I have to setup OS and Oracle.
I restored all file contain database parameter and use ORADIM command to create database services. Then I restored and recoveried whole database. And my database can work well immediately. However, when I reboot my computer, my database cann't autostart. Although, you may find that services start but the database does not start.
I used ORADIM utility to delete and re-create the services but it doesn't work.
Then I have to use Oracle Enterprise Manager to start and open database, it work well.
Pls help me to autostart database,
Thanks in advance,
NghiatdWhat is the 'ora_sid_autostart' registry entry set to?

Let me continue plst files, deleted old install and re-installed, downgraded version, ran disk warrior, tried new user account. Backed up everything re-installed fresh OS, still did not start, installed update plus latest version of iTunes. Still does not start. Called Apple support, did the usual permissions repair etc..... Ran Apple Hardware Test no problems found, TechTools Deluxe no problems, MemTest no problems.
On hold now waiting for Apple support again. I am assuming at this point there is a unknown hardware issue. Any ideas? You really went the extra mile trying to pin down the culprit! So.... who was the culprit anyway? which hub? the keyboard acts as hub, was this powered or un-powered, too? which would be of interest.
Instead of hub, maybe a PCIe USB2 card? -

HP Entertainment PC - DV2700 Laptop
*Windows Vista Home Premium*
2GB Ram
Hi there,
Have had my Entertainment Laptop for some time & it has always been excellent for us in the way of watching films, browsing the internet & Helping my daughter with her homework.
Recently has become very slow until today on boot up it would not pass the windows loading screen? After a few attemps it came up with the repair screen & showed it had run the repair & recommended restarting the system.
I did this & it just went back to loading the windows screen again to which it just hangs. It has been like this now for over 2 hours & the HD on the front left seems to be very hot? I have shut down the laptop from the mains & have it just sitting there now?
To be honest, im not to headsup when it comes to computers & would like any laymans terms would be much appreciated.
Thank you for your time & patience for hearing me rant on, I suppose when you like something, you just donr want to let it go.
Thanks again

Yesterday I got a brand new Lenovo G510, i5, with free dos and tried to install the Windows 8.1 from a media disk.
The problem is that it won't boot from CD.
I got in Bios using the Novo button, changed the boot mode from legagcy support to UEFI and nothing happend.
I tried the boot mode to legacy; boot priority to dvd and still won't do it.
It is still trying to boot from the network...is this posible?
How can I get it to boot from CD/DVD?
Some help, tips, indications would be great!
Pretty please
Thanks a lot,
Irinahi Rurulinda,
Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Boot again inside BIOS
Try setting these
Under Exit TAB
OS Optimization or OS Optimized Should be set as Disabled or Other OS
Under Boot Tab / Start up Tab
Boot Mode Should be set to Legacy
Boot Priority Should be set to Legacy First
UEFI Boot should be set to Disabled
Quick Boot Should be Disabled
Secure boot Should be Disabled
Now press F10 to save everything and Exit
Computer will Restart now inster your CD / DVD Disc in and Turn Off the Computer.
Now on OFF state
Turn it back on and Start tapping F12
This will give you a boot selection with your DVD / CD as an option to boot from.
Hope this helps
Cheers!

Windows has detected a hard disk problem
I just got a warning from windows that I have a hard disk problem then Toshiba Utility notifies me with the following:
Disk0
Your HDD has the SMART Predict Failure function which monitors the HDD operating status. Your HDD is experiencing a problem and SMART monitoring software predicts that the HDD will fail. Toshiba strongly recommends you create a back-up for your HDD data. Then contact an authorized service provider in order to check your drive and purchase a new replacement drive if necessary.
I have never had problems with a hard disk, all I know is that I should get a backup drive as soon as possible. After I back up my files and everything....what is the next step? Take it to a repair man to fix, get a new harddrive, contact about warranty, what exactly do you do with this kind of situation? Is it fixable?
System Details:
Toshiba Satellite L675D-S7052
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 BitIf you're computer is under warranty, you should contact customer support at (800) 457-7777. The hard drive will need to be replaced.
