  • Satellite L850 - Unidentified network trying to use LAN card

I have the Satellite L850 and have been using the wireless without any issues.
Now I find I cannot get the network to work just using my Ethernet cable.
I have tried disabling the wifi and enabling the realtech PCIe family controller, which is the LAN connection, but I keep getting unidentified network.
Is there some sort of confliction between the wifi even though it is disabled and the LAN connection.
I am tearing my hair out. The LAN worked fine before I decided to try the WIFI.

    Hi
The Unidentified Network problem can be related to different causes and therefore different workarounds could be possible.
First of all I would recommend you to uninstall the LAN card driver.
This can be done within the device manager. After the driver has been removed, reboot the notebook and install the LAN driver which you could download from the Toshiba driver page.
2nd workaround: Reset the reset TCP/IP protocol
To do that, check the Microsoft knowledge base article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357
Check also if you some security tools (Mcafee, firewall, antivirus software) dont affect the network connectivity.

  • Unidentified Network appears Windows 7 pro reboot and stops NW access

I have a Dell T3500 workstation  which had Windows 7pro problem is whenever  I reboot NW access fails. In Network Sharing there are 2 networks "Local area " and "public Network". I have to disable the NW Adapter and enable
each time to get rid of the "public  Network" and recover NW access.
    How can I fix this?

    Hi viren84,
Please first take a try with the network troubleshooter:
Using the Network troubleshooter in Windows 7
For more Internet connection troubleshooting, see:

Regarding Unidentified Network, that because the network are indetified as public, which is not safe enough:

You may consider change it to work profile:

  • Unidentified network" with Server 2012 R2 and windows 8- Domain & NIC teaming

i have problem with my network ,before that i had just my domain but now some servers  specially win 2012 detect a network (name:network 4)
my 2012 windows server cannot be joined to doman also windows 8,but sometimes this problem solves without any troubleshooting and i can join again
    what can be problem
    S.Sanadi

    Hi S.Sanadi,
According to your description, my understanding is that “Unidentified Network” causes problem with joining domain, and this problem will be resolved automatically.
If there is no default gateway or the default gateway is useless, the network will be identified as unknown. Check to see if the IP configuration is correct when the network identified unknown. Open command prompt and type:
    Ipconfig /all
If the parameter is correct, try to ping IP address of default gateway and check to see if it works well.
Besides, if the connection should be identified as a Domain network and is not, then the likely causes are failure to contact DNS servers or domain controllers on that interface. Ping the IP address of DNS server and DC to make sure that these resources
    are available.

  • Another version of Leopard - Windows network problems

Like many others, I have a networking problem after installing Leopard on my G4 Powerbook. I had a successful ethernet network previously using two Windows 98 computers, an iBook G3 running Tiger, and my Powerbook G4 running 10.3.9
Only the Powerbook was upgraded to Leopard. The Powerbook can see, connect to, and read & write to all other computers using the Finder - Go - Connect to Server command. No problems, so I am better off than many others who have reported worse problems.
BUT, my Windows PC's cannot see the Leopard machine. I have done what I thought I should in the System Preferences - sharing pane. I have tried setting both folders and drives to shared, and have tried deselecting them and then selecting them again as some have suggested. My Powerbook with Leopard is still invisible to the PC's, both trying to use the "Open" command from a program, or the "Network Neighborhood" command from Windows Explorer.
Any suggestions? I know that some users cannot talk between PC's and Leopard at all, so I am glad I can at least read & write from the Leopard end!

Spoke too soon. For the past few weeks since installing Leopard, network connections have been erratic. The Powerbook with Leopard was working well yesterday, but then suddenly ceased to see the Windows computers. For the time being I have gicen up and reinstalled Tiger.
I will keep checking this forum and give Leopard another try when it seems to work better with networking.
Makes those Apple TV spots poking fun at Vista users going back to XP seem a little amusing.

  • Unidentified Network appears every Windows 7 reboot and stops NW access

I have an HP Pavillion PC which had Windows Vista Home Premium with all patches up to date. I upgraded to Windows 7 last weekend and ever since every time I reboot NW access fails. In Network Sharing there are 2 networks "Network 2" and "Unidentified Network". I have to disable the NW Adapter and enable each time to get rid of the "Unidentified Network" and recover NW access.
    How can I fix this?

    Hi,
You can also try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.
    1. Bypass the router and connect to cable modem directly for a test. Do you need disable Local Area Connection now? If so, please let me know. Otherwise, please upgrade the router firmware and then connect to router again.
    2. Temporarily turn off firewall on the machine and router (If it has).
    3. Upgrade the NIC driver.
    4. Restart the computer to Safe Mode with Networking to check the result.
    5. Configure the connection to obtain an IP address automatically
    =======================================
    a. Click "Start", input "NCPA.CPL" (without quotation marks) to Start Search bar and press "Enter".
    b. Right-click the network connection and click "Properties".
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    c. Click to highlight "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" and click "Properties".
    d. Check "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically".
    e. Click "OK".
    f. Click to highlight "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click "Properties".
    g. Check "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically".
    h. Click "OK".
    i. Reboot the computer.
    What's the result now?
    Thanks,

  • Can't download Windows spupport software because of a network problem?

    Hi all,
Here is my question: I have MBP early 2011 and was trying to download Windows supporting software’s using Bootcamp 5.0 but a box appears saying “Can't download Windows support software because of a network problem” so what can I do to address this problem?
    Few more details:

    Bootcamp 5.0.0
I already tried removing the proxy settings as you can see on the following picture.
    Thanks

I tried to select and deselect the Passive FTP Mode to see if that helps as it is recommended by other users before posting my question here to see if that was the problem but that didn't change anytihing. I also tried it before commenting to your response if there was any change and there wasn't any

No. This issue is dicussed here frequently. The only option is to be patient and try often. Search this forum for other posts about this issue.

  • S405 Wireless Networks Problem Windows 8 with SSID's

S405 keeps refreshing and shuffling wireless networks. Most of the time it won't show our SSID. We have other thinkpad devices, other wireless tablets/consoles, non of them have this problem.
I was also able to replicate the same issue with another router (in fact we replaced our router recently, and same issue was present before) and it is still happenning.
Another interesting thing is, whatever our SSID is, S405 specifically hides that SSID, this is the most frustrating part. Why would it not display on the list of available networks? I changed the SSID, and it is still not finding it. I made the SSID visible thinking that was the problem, still no luck.
Is there some sort of bug in S405 that makes it not play well with Windows 8 wireless networks?
Are there any applications that I can use to make the extremely restricted Windows 8 networks screen a little more Diagnose-Friendly?
PS: The SSID will show up once in a while allowing us to connect, or sometimes it won't show but will connect magically, this happens after we turn wireless on/off, reboot laptop, or try other various ways to get it to connect.
    Thanks in advance!

You cannot right-click an INF file to install a device driver. When the device is attached, the system will ask for the INF file and driver. You can also use the DevCon tool in the WDK

This is outdated information.  In Windows 8.1 and later, we right-click to install drivers against both ACPI and PCI devices and it installs just fine.  It does not work in Windows 7.

  • Windows Network Problems...

I have a friend and his network is all windows machines except for one Mac for video editing. They need to be able to transfer the video created to a drive on the network or directly to the computer that is going to use it. The G5 is on the internet and can see the other machines but can't access them, it gives me an error saying, "can't find the original". The windows machines can't see the G5 (and yes it has windows sharing on). I've tried to help them but I'm at a loss on this one. My network is all Macs and only 4 windows machines so for me it's windows that have to survive on my network .
There windows machines log onto a domain. Could that be an issue?
    Thanks

    Dual G5 2.5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

I have a very similar issue at my workplace. I'm one of two designers using OS X, the rest of the office is on Windows.
I was having the issue discussed above. I would go through the networks in a finder window and locate the server folder I needed to get into and try to log in but I kept getting "can't find original."
I then went through the Connect to Server via 'Go' in Finder. I typed in the smb//DNSname/sharename and the login window would pop up. But when I try to log in, almost immediately it says I have the wrong name or password. I've checked it a dozen times and my password works through Mail and Entourage, but not through a direct network connection to the server.
I found a program from http://www.thursby.com/ called ADmitMac that supposedly corrects Mac OSX to Windows PC networking problems. There's a full article about it at http://www.macguild.org/reviews/review204.html.
I have not tried it considering we're a small start up and the program can get expensive compared to the cost of the Mac OS system price.
Can anyone verify that this program can correct the problem or is there another (cheaper) solution?
Could it be a setting on the windows server itself?
    hope someone can help

  • Unidentified network will kill me

    hi every one
i had major problem with this thing
we have file server which is a member server with windows server 2012 in a domain with domain controller being installed windows server 2012.
the file server always give me unidentified network and i tried every solution i read about . disabling unused lan ports, run the command "netsh int ip reset" or some thing, but when ever the server reboot the same problem occur again . i need a
solution with out playing with firewall.
not: every time i disable or enable ipv6 in the lan the problem solved but when reboot it the problem come again.
    help me please
    best regard

    Hi,
According to the blog below, if the two conditions are meet, you will get domain profile.
Connection Specific DNS Name matches the “HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Group Policy\History\NetworkName” registry key.
Machine contact a Domain Controller via LDAP correctly.

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/networking/archive/2010/09/08/network-location-awareness-nla-and-how-it-relates-to-windows-firewall-profiles.aspx
Since this is a domain member server, please check your DNS setting first. Then confirm the connectivity to DC.
About your last sentence, I wonder what indeed you did made it work. Did either disable or enable IPv6 make it work?
